[Music] today let's figure out what is your vision as a leader and I'm going to ask you a series of questions you're going to have the transcript of this training available to you so you can go through that transcript and answer these questions as you work on your journal or wherever you're doing the exercises whether it's online or with pen and paper like many of us still do it when you think about the leaders that you admire the most what are their qualities so write those down and let's get clear on the leadership qualities that you appreciate and admire in others and also another way to answer that question is what are the attributes of leaders that you do not want to role model or emulate you can write those down and he would by the process of elimination give you who you are instead of who you don't want to be because you don't want to be that leader who is selfish who's only looking after herself you don't want to be that leader who's only looking up and managing up you don't want to be the leader who is critical and does not provide constructive feedback to your team you also don't want to be the leader who is constantly hovering and micromanaging and being a helicopter manager to your team those are qualities that I'm sure you do not appreciate in leaders who do that and there are many reasons why they do it so we want to become self-aware of how we're showing up as a leader so another question I want to ask you about what is the vision you have as a leader is what are some of the qualities that you currently bring to your leadership role so list those out and let's get clear on the qualities that you already have now when you compare the two list there's the list of the qualities you appreciate and the list of qualities that you currently have you're going to find some overlap and then there's going to be some areas where you find that you like these qualities but you don't have them yet so notice how you're going to feel confident that you already have some of those qualities and you're going to find that there's an area for opportunity for you to grow into these other qualities that you also appreciate in your leaders so creating the vision for your future is going to require you to be honest with yourself to reflect on what you're currently doing how you're currently showing up where you want to be in the organization let's so let's talk about that for a little bit when you look at your role and you see how many people you have reporting to you you could be a director or associate director for example even manager and not have people under you what is your desire as it relates to having a team what size of a team do you want to have where do you see yourself in the organization do you see yourself as just one level above or do you see yourself as a few levels above where you currently are if you notice that as you think about your vision that you're getting some crunchiness that something inside of you begins to stir something doesn't feel quite right or comfortable that's something for you to bring to our Q&A and strategy session because that means that there's a part of you that does not feel that it's either ready for that that deserves that or that it's worth what you want and what you see as a vision for yourself and that's okay we just want to notice and we want to bring it to the Forefront we want to dissect it we want to talk to it and we want to explore what is the message that this part has for us and I'm going to help you do all of that together when we do our Q&A and so here is the last piece that I want to share about what is your vision as a leader when you close your eyes and you imagine yourself five years from now even 12 months from now where do you see yourself as a leader what have you learned who have you become what are the qualities that you bring to the for to the Forefront as a leader what are some of the challenges that you have had to overcome to become that kind of leader and as we talk about the kind of leader you want to be we also want to talk about the challenges that you currently see so the last question I'm going to ask you is when you look at yourself today honestly you look in the mirror and you ask yourself Jenny what are some of the challenges that you currently have as a leader and you're going to discover what those challenges are and based on that you're going to find the road map for the areas that we need to develop together and that's where all of our work is going to lie now notice that we're only beginning our journey as I mentioned before the bridge to claim your seat is going to give you the foundational for keys that all of my members have as they are starting their leadership journey and as we continue this process I'm going to give you more advanced tools and strategies based on this Foundation that we are building during these four weeks so know that there's a lot more to come and there's a lot more for all of us to learn but this is how we get started from a place of strength and from a place of self-awareness with that let's talk about your unique value preposition [Music]
