Why 90 Days?

Step-by-Step Guide

Start Here

  • Question to Ask: What one category of ministry can we focus on for the next 90 days to make our church bigger or better?
  • Categories to Consider: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, Evangelism, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Administration, or Other
  • Tip: Focus on no more than three categories if full-time; for part-time or volunteer roles, focus on one category

Next

  • Write Actions: On the back of the sheet, write as many actions as possible to make the selected ministry category better
  • Exercise Duration: Spend 5-15 minutes brainstorming; can extend to an hour for group settings
  • Brainstorming Technique: Use edgecraft to push ideas to the extreme for innovative and remarkable solutions

Then

  • Top 16 Ideas: Select the top 16 ideas from the brainstormed list
  • Numbering: Number ideas and fill in brackets
  • Tournament Method: Ideas go through 4 rounds of competition to narrow down to the best one

Example: Children’s Ministry

  • Initial Ideas: Download Elevation children’s worship videos, form a worship team made up of teens, hire preschool staff, etc.
  • Selection Process: Ideas are alternated in brackets and compete to find the most effective one
  • Final Selection: After rounds of competition, select the top idea

Almost There

  • Action Statement: Write out the following statement: “We will [top idea] by [date 90 days from today]”
  • Assign Roles: Assign tasks to different church roles to support the 90-day goal (e.g., worship team, social media director, pastor)
