03-02 Creating Effective Action Plans

[Music] what's going to be different about this action plan versus all the other plans that you've created before what I learned when I was growing up is that you create a plan by thinking getting into your head and writing down what you need to happen and what I've learned over the years through my mentors and the communities that I surround myself with whom I met wonderful souls and people who have enriched my life in so many ways is that that is one approach to creating a plan and you can augment that by tapping into the rest of your resources as I began to share with you earlier and those resources are available to you if you look around open your eyes and pay attention and that's what I want us to do to become more self-aware so we can pay attention to see who has the information that I need who can help me to make this faster accelerate instead of trying to figure everything on my own and struggling by myself there is no need for that my friends that is old school and that is not the way to succeed these days this is what my mentors have taught me when you role model someone and people who are already doing or already did what you're trying to do automatically you Short Circuit the entire process and yes there's value in following due process so you can gain the skills the experience and the background you need so you can do the best job that you can ultimately and feel good about it and there's also a way to acquire that knowledge and that background and that expertise as you accelerate getting to the results and reaping the benefits of your efforts and your work and that's what I've been doing since I began my business in 2017 instead of waiting 10 years or 15 years to figure everything out that I've been doing for the past eight I dove right in first year into my business and I looked for the mentors that would help me would show me how it's done and that is what I'm doing for you right now so I want to say kudos to you for noticing saying I need support and getting the support that you needed so now let's talk about how to create this plan to make the most out of your day out of your hours and out of your valuable effort the way we create this plan is by reverse engineering the vision that we had if I were to ask you when you talk to your fiveyear older self where does she see herself how is she feeling how is she doing and you asked her what did I do to get there she gave you a list of things that you needed to do what were those things put them down on a piece of paper if you already have them great review them what were the things she wanted you to do or what did she do to get to where she is now take each of those and read through them evaluate them and look at the ones that make complete sense to you from not only an intellectual perspective but also from a heart perspective perspective which of those items that she indicated you needed to do seem to you like yes I absolutely need to prioritize improving my communication skills or I absolutely need to prioritize building my confidence or I absolutely need to stop being a people pleaser because that's not getting me anywhere fast whatever she told you that she needed to do to get to where she got I want you to ask yourself the question why is this important to me today and answer that because if we don't attach a why to the items that we're going to work on we're going to lose steam we're going to lose the fuel in our tank and we're going to be operating out of busyness instead of out of purpose meaning and impact so let's get clear on the items on your plan why they are important to you and next let's identify what resources are available to me to do this action faster better and I want to give you a framework that I learned recently which is first we want to get started at something that we're not good at let's start doing it and that will get us to getting better at it and from getting better we want to get great at it because that's where we claim our next leadership seat when we are great at something so think of the item look at why it's important to you why doesn't even matter for you today and then what resources are available to go from getting started to getting good to getting great and that's how we're going to create our action plan and the last piece of that exercise for that particular item on your action plan is to think about the time frame what time frame am I going to get this done in sometimes that's pretty straight forward if it's something simple it's doable it's chunk it's already broken down into its simplest form that's a matter of saying next week I'm going to reach out to this person who I want to be my sponsor for example or this person who I need to collaborate with to make sure that I get this process or this procedure or this idea implemented whatever the case may be all right so then the next step and the last step is how will you feel if you don't accomplish this and how will you feel if you do now notice what we're doing in this last step is we're attaching an emotion the emotion is energy in motion when you attach an emotion to your goals on your action road map it it's no longer just an item on your piece of paper or on your document it's now has more meaning to you in addition to having a why knowing the resources you're going to tap into knowing how you're going to get from started to good to great you're also going to see when am I going to get it done and finally how will I feel when it's done and if I don't do it how would that make me feel and that will help you create a prioritized list of actions that will follow so you can get your vision implemented and let's get tactical I don't want you to just think about this or listen to this recording and be done with it this is where the rubber hits the road and where you write down your vision in reverse order based on your 5-year-old older self and you decide which of those items make sense to you from a delightful perspective from an excitement perspective and which of them are crunchy which we're going to tackle in one of our lessons this week which is what are the challenges getting in the way how does this make sense to you now when I've done this exercise in this way it's been a game Cher and I can tell you when I started my business and I was building it out and figuring out how to get clients and what programs to put together and even how to create an offer and how to put my services out there I had one of my mentors sit down with me and take me through this process of creating an action plan in this way and guess what happened to me every single one of the items that I had on my plan I completed because they weren't just frivolous things that I wrote down on a piece of paper paper they were meaningful insightful actions that would move the needle in my life and that would allow me to have the biggest impact in my business to support women talented leaders and women like you and so by implementing that plan I'm still here eight years later having this conversation with you so this works my friends stay the course as my coach and Mentor Fabian says the day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit be patient and stay the course and I wrote about this in my book healing leadership so you're talking to somebody who has never written a book and now I'm a two-time number one bestselling author of fearless women at work and healing leadership I didn't know how to run a business and here I am eight years later on my third course that I put together the personal branding Master Class the F Mastermind now the bridge to claim your seat to support you every step of the way and this is only the beginning of our journey together we started with the master class we're in the bridge right now and the next step for you will be the Mastermind where you will be immersed for six full months with this Community Learning applying tweaking believing in yourself developing self-worth self-confidence so you can claim your next leadership seat the one that you know you can do in your heart in your mind the impact that you know you can have in the world and the people that you know you can help and the ideas that you're ready to bring out and to innovate with excellence and with love and compassion for yourself and others so that's how we create an action plan that delivers results beyond the tangible results rewards and fulfillment to yourself and to your spirit and your soul and we can do any of that unless we tackle the challenges ahead and that's exactly what we're going to do next [Music]
