CapCut Editing Tutorial Notes

Introduction to CapCut

  • Objective: Learn how to use CapCut for video editing on PC.
  • Website: Search "CapCut" in Google or go to CapCut.com.
  • Installation:
    • Download for Windows or Mac.
    • Save the installer on your desktop and open it.
    • Run a compatibility test for your PC.

Starting a New Project

  • Open CapCut and click on New Project.
  • Import videos for editing.

Basic Video Editing

Cutting a Video

  • Cutting the Beginning:

    • Move the play line to desired cut point.
    • Click on the video and select Split.
    • Delete the left segment by right-clicking and selecting delete.
  • Cutting the End:

    • Move the line to the desired end cut point.
    • Click Split again and delete the right segment.
  • Cutting the Middle:

    • Move the line to the start of the segment to cut.
    • Click Split.
    • Move to the end of the segment to cut, click Split again.
    • Delete the middle segment.

Adding Overlays

  • Image Overlay:

    • Drag and drop the image onto the timeline.
    • Adjust scale, position, and duration of the overlay.
  • GIF and Video Overlays:

    • Similar process as adding images.
  • Green Screen Overlay:

    • Select the green screen video, go to Cut Out, and enable Chroma Key.
    • Use Color Picker to remove the green color and adjust strength.

Adding Text

  • Click on Text and select Default Text to drag onto the timeline.
  • Adjust duration and position of text.
  • Change text content, font, size, color, and add effects (bold, underline, shadow, etc.).

Animations

  • To animate elements:
    • Click on the element, set a Key Frame for starting position.
    • Move forward in the timeline, adjust position or scale to create another key frame.
    • Use multiple key frames to animate movement and scaling.

Key Frames Usage

  • Control animations by placing key frames to define start and end points.
  • The distance between key frames controls speed (closer = faster).

Adding Music

  • Drag audio files to the timeline.
  • Adjust length to match the video.
  • Control volume and apply fade in/out effects.

Auto Captions

  • Click Text > Auto Captions.
  • Choose language and generate subtitles automatically.
  • Customize captions as needed.

Color Grading

  • Use Adjustment settings to modify temperature, hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, and more.
  • HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) allows for detailed color adjustments.

Special Effects

  • Explore effects like blur, vignette, and sharpen. Adjust intensity as needed.

Exporting Your Video

  • Once editing is complete, select Export to save your project.
