Using an Image for Connection

  • Choose an image that represents this maternal energy (e.g., goddess, literary figure, Glenda the Good Witch)
  • Image should evoke feelings of maternal love
    • Characteristics: spacious, unconditional, eternal

Maternal Love Qualities

  • Holds everything: pain, multiple truths, paradox, complexity
  • Enormous, profound, rich love
  • Penetrates limitations of material and lived experience

Meditation Process

Step 1: Connect with the Mother Image

  • Visualize and connect with the image of the mother
  • Feel her presence, gaze, and receive her love

Step 2: Focus on Negative Emotions

  • Shift attention to feelings of terror, hopelessness, despair, demoralization, fear
  • Experience these emotions physically
    • Visualize as heavy substances (e.g., dark gooey tar, heavy lead)

Step 3: Redirect Attention to the Mother

  • Focus gaze back on the mother image
  • Receive her joy and unconditional love
  • Understand that you don't have to earn or prove for her love

Step 4: Allow Her to Lift Your Burdens

  • Say yes to receiving her love
  • Feel her presence lift off heaviness and pain
  • Know it's effortless for her to lighten your load

Step 5: Circulate Her Love in Your Body

  • Feel love circulate through your body, cleaning toxins and residual pains
  • Experience lightness and upliftment in her presence

Step 6: Closing the Meditation

  • Visualize her ascending back to her home
  • Understand she is always available
  • Requires your engagement to reconnect
  • Open your eyes when ready
