Overview

This lecture provides an introduction to basic features and built-in apps on the Promethean Board, focusing on using its whiteboard, timer, spinner, annotation, and control functions.

Accessing and Navigating Promethean Board Apps

  • Promethean Boards have built-in apps that do not require Windows or desktop connection.
  • The Unified Menu can be accessed via arrows on the board’s edge or the flame icon.
  • The Locker contains additional apps beyond those in the Unified Menu.

Whiteboard App Features

  • Use the Pen tool to select weight and color, then write directly on the board.
  • The Highlighter tool allows highlighting in different thicknesses and colors.
  • Use the color palette for a larger variety of colors.
  • The Partial Eraser erases selected areas; the Full Eraser clears the entire screen.
  • Undo and Redo buttons help revert actions or recover erased content.
  • Math Tools include a ruler, protractors, and an angle tool; rulers can draw straight lines.
  • Insert images, templates, charts, and mapping options directly into the whiteboard.
  • Change backgrounds to lined, graph paper, or shaded options for different needs.
  • Dual User Mode lets two users write simultaneously with separate toolsets and partial screen clearing.

Timer and Spinner Apps

  • The Timer app allows multiple floating timers with customizable duration and names, and can be switched to clock or stopwatch modes.
  • Up to four timers can run at once and be shown in full screen.
  • The Spinner app randomly selects items from pre-made or custom lists and allows color and order customization.

Windows Integration and Annotate App

  • Switch inputs (e.g., HDMI 2) to use the Promethean Board with Windows.
  • The Annotate app overlays writing tools onto any screen content for marking or highlighting.
  • Annotations can be shown/hidden, undone/redone, and erased all at once.

Screen Control Buttons

  • The Freeze Screen button (snowflake icon) displays content but keeps the board accepting inputs in the background.
  • The No Touch button disables all input, preventing accidental interaction until reactivated.
