welcome to alt shift X let's talk about House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5 the episode explores the aftermath of the death of Princess rise Targaryen and her Dragon melis last episode we see the condition of King aegon he's looking very unwell with Burns all over his body he's unconscious in a coma and after his fall there's a reshuffling for power with Allison trying to become the Regent leading the greens in King aegon's absence uh but she gets snookered and her own Council rejects her and Prince amond is chosen as the Regent instead we see Damon continuing to uh Wrangle the riverlands into his control trying to beat the brackens into submission uh Amos Bracken defies Damon and his Dragon caraxes so Damon hatches a plan to do some war crimes with his uh best bud William Blackwood and it seems like that backfires against Damon when the riverlords complain about his atrocities we also get an extremely weird sex dream where uh Damon Taran dreams about having sex with this woman who is telling him about how great and strong he is and then the this woman uh casually mentions that she is Damon's mother this is apparently an incest sex dream Damon's mother is a character called Alysa Targaryen who died when Damon was like 3 years old so uh Damon continues to have some uh very weird feelings about his family uh and this seems to be part of the witch Alice Rivers continuing to mess with Damon's head reer is struggling uh trying to be a queen during a war when she doesn't really know how to wage a war uh so she turns to mazaria and they hatch a plan to send a Linda Massie one of rainer's handmaidens to King's Landing to try and get the common people to support her try to use a bit of a propaganda War like the greens have been doing because we see how the greens cart the head of the Dragon mes into King's land in to try and show off the victory of the greens over the traitor reera but the common people are not into it they're all shocked and upset cuz they thought the Dragons Were Gods but it turns out dragons can be killed dragons are meat and the people are hungry we also see uh in the Eerie in the veil we see Lady Jan Aaron with Raina Taren who's there with the little kids who reer sent over there and we also see the Twins home of house fry where Jace tries to uh get the phrase in line so that kraan Stark's Northern Army can pass the bridge on the twins um so there's a lot happening we're seeing new locations we're seeing a reshuffle a ruggle for power after the death of rers reineer and names callus as the new uh hand of the queen uh to be her to be her executive and to help her out which is much needed because she's really struggling to to lead and she doesn't have experience in war while Kus is like a super rich super powerful super well-known Lord who has maybe more experience leading a war than almost anyone else in Westeros because Kus was fighting in the stepstones for years and years and he successfully took control of the stepstones so Kus makes sense as reand of the queen but at the same time Kus is dealing with grief over the death of his wife Rees Kus has lost everything Kus lost his son Lor lost his son Lena lost his brother vond now he loses his wife rise and so he's like you know what am I even doing this for what's going on here so yeah we're going to talk about House of the dragon and we are not going to spoil future episodes um we're doing this weekly at 10:10 p.m. uh on every Sunday and uh we'll show you some neat little family trees and things we'll show you some Dragon Maps so that we can understand what the hell's going on in this story and uh we're going to have a good time I will answer some of your questions if you would like to donate the best way to do that is using the link in the description the streamlabs link I will try to answer as many of your questions as I can but I won't be able to answer every single one but uh yeah let's get into it so um thanks for the donation from Mike says so Damon didn't realize that was his mom right uh yeah the the impression that I get I mean this is like a a Trippy sex dream like I don't think Damon is fully aware of what's going on here I think from Damon's perspective Damon is like having a sex dream about this woman and this woman is saying oh you're so strong and great and you should be the king and you know viseris was a nice guy but you have the power and you deserve to be a ruler so that's you know donon what demon needs to believe um Damon really wants to convince himself that he's worthy of love and he believes that strength is what makes him worthy um and yeah then at the very end of the dream Alyssa says oh yeah and you're my son so I I agree Mike I think Damon realizes in that moment that oh this mysterious woman is my mother because Damon uh didn't know Alyssa as an adult Alyssa died when Damon was like three years old so we don't even know if this is necessarily what Alyssa actually looked like cuz in the books Alysa had heterochromia Alysa had two different colored eyes one was Violet and one was green uh she also had a crooked nose I think from when her nose broke in the books Alysa is kind of a tomboy she's a bit like Arya Stark she likes you know fighting and writing and doing all these things that aren't like traditional femininity in this world so um in some ways she was like Damon I suppose they were both people of action and Alyssa loved writing her Dragon mes who died last episode so um so I think it's interesting that the depiction of Alyssa here she has like dark eyes she doesn't have two different colored eyes so this character this this woman in Damon's dream I I think represents his mother but she doesn't look like how Alysa looks in the law which makes sense because Damon doesn't know what his mother looks like you know we get a bunch of talk about Alyssa this episode we learned that um Damon after his mother Alyssa died Damon tried to claim mes Damon wanted to ride his mother's Dragon but mes apparently rejected Damon and instead accepted rise so it's this interesting idea that dragons can choose who rides them um and that's important cuz at the end of this episode Jason rangier come up with this plan where they're like oh let's get some new Dragon Riders to ride our dragons because the blacks have a whole bunch of dragons but a lot of them don't have Riders and it seems as though you need a rider on a dragon for the dragon to be useful in war which is kind of conflicts with what we saw in Game of Thrones like in Game of Thrones Daenerys commands Three Dragons at once sometimes dais commands drogon and Regal and viserion in battle at marine and they all seem to obey her but at least now in Hot D everyone seems to be assuming that you need a human Rider on each dragon and on Dragon Stone there are all these unclaimed dragons there's vermithor and Silverwing which are some of the biggest dragons alive uh and they are like maybe the black's Only Hope of fighting vagar there's also sea smoke which used to be the dragon of Lor who we've seen flying around being Restless appeared to Adam earlier and there's also the wild dragons cannibal grey ghost and shape stealer so if the blacks can find some people to ride these dragons they're going to have a huge Advantage because right now the greens the greens only have three dragons and only two of them are at King's Landing I mean Sunfire Kristen is kind of ambiguous in this episode when Kristen says that Sunfire was long in the dying Kristen says that he left men and Sunfire at rook's rest to guard rook's rest so his wording is kind of confusing but I think the point is that Sunfire is not dead dead yet but Sunfire seems very badly wounded in the books uh it talks about how Sun one of sunfire's wings is very badly hurt so Sunfire can't fly so Sunfire just kind of WS around in the ashes at rook's rest like a great golden worm feasting on the corpses of the dead it's very metal so uh yeah Sunfire is out of action and Tarion the dragon of Deon the fourth unseen child of Allison and viseris is over in Oldtown so the greens only have vagar and dream fire in the books dream fire seems maybe not useful because at this point in the books it says Helena is like mad with grief like Helena has just had her son Jaris killed in front of her and in the books that seems to drive her mad like all she does is just cry in the dark all day she's broken whereas in the show Helena uh she seems a little more emotionally detached she seems um she's kind of mysterious we don't know exactly what she's thinking uh but she was kind of always a bit detached a bit stuck in Prophecy as though she already knew that jarris was going to die you know so my point is that basically the biggest and best weapon the greens have is Vega and the blacks don't have a good counter to Vega right now because their biggest dragon m is dead their second biggest dragon Caris is over in Haron Hall and rera has no idea what Damon and Caris are doing or if Damon is even still loyal to her Damon at Haron Hall increasingly says that he will be the ruling King and that he will defy reira so donon is pretty close to just doing treason against rira so the biggest dragon that the blacks have on Dragon zone is Cyrax uh and Cyrax is a lot smaller and younger than Vega so it's uh it's a problem they need to get these wild dragons on site they need to get veror they need to get Silver Wing and so one of the questions is like okay who can ride these dragons so in this episode Jason rira say that okay we should find some people who have intermarried with House tararan people who have tarian blood cuz the assumption is that you have to be a targaryan with Valyrian dragon lord blood in order to ride a dragon that's the assumption but the tarians have intermarried with other families in the past in the books the valaran in particular have inter married with the tarians so you know maybe vond valion had some relatives maybe there are some valerion cousins who can ride some dragons maybe Kus can get in a dragon maybe Kus has enough tarian blood to ride a dragon in the same way that Lor valion had blood from his uh mother rainy Taran they also talk about what if a malister got on a dragon what if a t got on a dragon I don't think they are any malister or Tes who have Dragon Blood at least not at this time but if they can look at the old Valyrian histories and figure out who has intermarried with the tarians they might find people who can ride a dragon uh we know that ul ul the white uh claims to be a tarian bastard so maybe UL has enough tarian blood that he could ride a dragon there were also some of the children of Old King Harris who had some bastards like Sarah tu Aran had some bastards so there are potentially lots of people running around out there who have tarian blood but again it's really unclear like what the rules are like how much targaryan blood do you need do you even need targaryan blood at all to be a dragon rider those are all fair questions the author of the books George R Martin uh recently posted on his blog he he uh he posted this delightful rant about Dragon law and he was talking about how it's really important to him that dragons have two legs and two wings but not four legs and two Wings because that's unrealistic and he and he talked about all the dragons and one of the things that George said was that dragons bond with men some men and the why and how of that and how it came to be will eventually be revealed in more detail in The Winds of Winter and a dream of spring and in Blood of blood and fire blood and fire is uh the possible title of the second part the second volume of Fire and Blood which is the book that this show Hot D is based on the Winds of Winter is the upcoming next book in the main Game of Thrones book series which we've been waiting for for 13 years uh and a dream of spring is the planned title for the final book series so any minute now they they will come out I'm sure but yeah so there are some answers coming about what the rules are with Dragons apparently it's cool that George talks about like how it came to be as well like I still think that in the opening sequence this image that we see of a like dragon with flaming wings um with this like blood sacrifice happening I think that may be an image that represents uh the like creation of the bond between humans and dragons and the idea that Valyrian blood Mages might may have created that Bond through dark sorcery and that the tarians May literally have some Dragon DNA in them there's all these hints in the books that suggest that so uh that's all connected to why tarians are now able to command and control dragons thank you a who says it's a peculiar contrast how the greens generally seem to have command of the game of Lords politics while the blacks have mastered the dragons but the greens have Vaga but the blacks have Kus and now he too is the last of his Generation The Greens do seem to be better at propaganda and politics than the blacks do um I mean Otto I think had a lot to do with that and the high Towers in general I mean the high towers are not Dragon Riders the high towers are politicians and the high towers are very rich and they command the city of Oldtown the high Towers have all these connections to the maesters um so it makes sense that the high Towers know how to do politics I think now that Otto's gone that's a bit more difficult for them but I think that's part of what's Happening whereas you know rira and Damon are very much targarian Dragon Riders and they've spent a lot of years over in Dragonstone away from King's Landing they don't have as many relationships with the Lords and the great Lords of King's Landing and you know we saw that with rir very early on when rir was very young we saw Rainier being rude to lady redwine and being rude to Lord uh Jason Lannister reier was never very interested in like cultivating those political connections which I think is now backfiring on her a bit because she doesn't have allies she doesn't have as good allies as she needs thanks for the donation from Dad of Caesar who says hypothetically speaking knowing how close they were do you think veror and Silverwing would fight each other upon command from Jaris and alisin I think that's another great question um you know dragons do have personalities and wills of their own George wrote about that in his recent blog post uh and dragons have Rel relationships veror and Silverwing like to coil together because their Riders jeris and alisin were in love and it seems like those dragons are in love so would they fight against each other if commanded to we saw how vagar was reluctant to kill his her Rider Lena valion but Vega did seem willing to attack Sunfire and attack mes despite the fact that vagar is probably related to S to Sunfire and melees so so yeah those are excellent questions I mean when do dragons obey and when do dragons follow their own desires um thank you urethra Franklin who says there hasn't been any letdowns in this series so far which events would be a good one for a cold open um which events would be good for a cold open um I mean I liked how they did the Battle of the burn in Mill instead of showing us like a whole battle full of characters that we don't know they showed us this hard cut to the aftermath of the battle of the burning Mill and I like how they continue to explore some of the Fallout from that so we had this meeting between Damon and Amos Bracken which I think shows how bad Damon is at politics like Damon goes on and on this episode about how he wants to be the king and Rule himself but we also see repeatedly that Damon is quite bad at politic itics and quite bad at diplomacy and he's not very interested in doing diplomacy he rocks up to these brackens and says hey join me or die and Amos resists partly because Damon brings his new buddy Willam Blackwood along with him which is a terrible choice because the blackwoods and the brackens are sworn enemies who just fought a battle at the Battle of the burning Mill and so the Blackwood and the brackens start insulting each other and so they refuse to join Damon maybe Damon shouldn't have brought the Blackwood to this meeting and then it would have been easier to get Amos to join Damon doesn't seem to think very much about persuading people well and and the political Optics of things we also you know it deepens the religious War aspect between the blackwoods and the brackens because the brackens follow the faith of the seven while the blackwoods follow the old gods um it's quite odd then that Willam Blackwood here talks about how the brackens were hatched from the deepest of the seven Hells but William Blackwood wouldn't believe in the seven Hells because he doesn't believe in the faith of the seven he believes in the old gods right maybe he's just pointing out that oh those idiots believe in the seven Hells what a silly religion they have and Amos Bracken uh taunts Willam Blackwood by mentioning how he sent his brother's head to him because we know that Lord Samuel Blackwood was killed in the battle of the burning Mill so apparently Amos has sent uh Samuel blackwoods removed head to his brother Willam uh which uh yeah doesn't seem likely that these guys are going to be friends anytime soon does it so Damon is frustrated that the uh brackens refused to join him so he comes up with a new plan he comes to Willam and he's like maybe you could persuade the brackens to join us by doing some uh evil nasty stuff things that I can't do openly you should do those evil things exploit the weaknesses of the brackens it's a little confusing in this moment this scene but we learn later that that what this means is that Willam Blackwood is going to go and lead some war crimes against the brackens they're going to steal some of the brackens children they're going to kill civilians they're going to smash the septs of the faith of the seven and they're going to use these horrific atrocities to intimidate and force the brackens to submit to donon and the blackwoods which as Al Alis turns out is you know like a that's evil but B reira would not be happy about this re is still dealing with the fact that Damon had Prince jeris murdered this innocent child was murdered in rira's name and now donon is out here ordering more war crimes which rir is going to be blamed for so donon is continuing to create problems for Queen rir and he doesn't seem to care and it even backfires against him because all of these River Lords turn up at Damon's uh Damon's place at Haren Hall and say hey uh we are not happy about these war crimes that you've gone and done it's not super clear who these people are the subtitles say that one of them is a piper and one of them is a DA so those are like other houses in the riverlands so these are so I I guess these atrocities have happened not just on Bracken lands but across the riverlands like what is the scale of these Blackwood attacks it's uh kind of crazy and yeah I don't know if these people are like Lords and ladies or if they are just members of those families but but they they have this great speech where they're just talking about how you know you are this interloper you can't come in here as an occupier who doesn't understand our land doesn't understand our history and just enable these war crimes by the Blackwood is not okay and it's not going to win support to Damon so it seems as though Damon's plan of gathering an army of riverlords here not going so well not going so well we also get another trippy Vision where Damon sees his wife Lena again his dead ex-wife Lena and Lena asks have you been looking after our children cuz Damon does seem to be not a great dad we saw him ignoring Baylor earlier and uh he was always ignoring Raina so it's not only a reminder of Damon's failures as a parent but it's also a it also connects to these atrocities against the brackens where uh we're hearing that children are being stolen from their homes and it's like does Damon have no sympathy for what's being done against these children when Damon himself is a father he should have some more sympathy if not as a human than as a fellow parent you know so uh you know Damon is continuing to get all these Visions trying to explore his guilt and it is getting to Damon but he's not changing his behavior Damon is not becoming any better of a person yet so it's rough it's rough thanks for the donation from cat who says that the sexual tension that Willam and Damon had was insane Willie really has the hots for the togs yeah no that's that's funny isn't it like Willam was uh we saw Willam as a young boy who was trying to win the hand of rira Taran and Willam said that ah you know I I admired the fire in R's blood and you're right it does kind of almost seem like William has the hots for Damon as well he he just he he likes blondes I suppose who can blame him it does seem like weirdly intimate This Moment Like Damon's really like getting up in William's space and like smiling and saying oh you can do some cool things huh and when I was watching that scene like I was like it are they talking about war or are they going to make out like what's going on here it was an odd scene and it was only later that it was really clarified that they were talking about doing war crimes I I think violence and sex are very two sides of the same coin for Damon you know like it's it's very interconnected just like all of those murals we've seen in the red cape of of sex and this almost violent ory going on with the dragons and the humans it's all it's all interconnected I think that's part of the theme of the show thanks for the donation from William shakespear who says loving the Alice Rivers sending demon crazy I'm half expecting a trip twist every time he's on screen so cool to see the strength of magic in this time period I mean we could go down a whole rabbit hole about like the the EB and flow of magic in this world CU there's this idea that magic uh was stronger in the past but that magic becomes less powerful for most of history after the Doom of Vala and after the deaths of the Dragons cuz we know that you know dragons exist in this time period but after this time period the the dragons eventually die out and so in the time of the main Game of Thrones series there are no dragons until Daenerys hatches three dragon eggs and then we're told that drag that magic returns to the world so in the books there's this idea that the the existence of dragons makes all magic more powerful and there are like Sorcerers who can make fire and they can do it better now that dragons are back in the world so I guess it makes sense that at this time period in Hot D there are lots of dragons this is the most dragons house Aran ever has I believe um or I suppose before the death of M it was um and so I suppose it makes sense that at this time period magic is as strong as ever in magic in general and you can question like what what like is are all kinds of magic the same like fire magic sometimes seems like this distinct thing from say old gods green Seer magic which seems like it might be distinct from you know I don't know White Walker magic there there's lots of sort of theories about how that all interconnects but it does make sense I think that given that there are all these dragons running around the magic of like Alice Rivers might be stronger the magic of the old gods might be stronger and so after Damon has that kooky sex dream he wakes up and he sees Alice like looking at him knowingly and then later Damon hears these hallucinations of Screams and I think that represents the atrocities that um Damon ordered upon the brackens and again we see Alice like looking at Damon when he's receiving those hallucinations so it does seem as though Alice is like causing Damon to have these experiences uh which does fit with some of the ideas in the books of like glass candles allow people to enter people's dreams and you know blood Raven causes bran and jojan and Jon Snow to have dreams so it all so like all of this is new like this like this stuff is not described in detail in the books but it does fit within the law that's described in the books which I think is cool I think it's fun and cool all right snail says do you think Dragon tastes good yeah I think it's very ominous that the head of mes was paraded through King's Landing and uh Hugh said oh the dragon is just meat and then later on the small folk were trying to escape King's Landing and they were saying we're hungry give us meat so if the small folk are hungry because the valerion blockade is like preventing food from getting in so like people are at risk of starving in King's Landing if they get hungry enough are they going to eat dragons how's that going to taste probably probably a bit burnt I would imagine but um yeah very ominous stuff and we get this scene with um uh Hugh and his wife cat they want to escape King's land it's it's so sad that you know Hugh wants to believe that King Aon will help him because Hugh came to the King on the throne and aegon promised that he would help you but now King aegon is incapacitated and his hand Otto is gone and no one seems to be following up on that promise and so it's like well what is Hugh meant to do Hugh wanted to believe in the system Hugh wanted to believe that the king would protect him but he's not so what do you do when the government fails you in a democracy you can vote out the government I've heard but uh not not in a monarchy what can these people do so mazaria hopes to use the power of the common people against the greens in the same way that the greens have tried to use propaganda you know calling rer an evil kinslayer blaming her for the death of Jaris it becomes a propaganda War as well as a dragon war as well as a ground war there's lots of different fronts going on here uh thanks for the donation from Anthony who says do you believe Alice could be a predecessor to the three-eyed Raven before blood Raven I ask due to her words wewood trees dreams and she potentially wogs into animals thanks I do think that Alice might be a green Seer I think that Alice does seem connected to the magic of the old gods which means she might be a skin changer she might be able to control owls and spy through their eyes she might be giving D on these dreams all of that makes sense the concept of the three-eyed Raven is kind of a weird one um because in the TV show there's this character called the three-eyed Raven and he teaches Brand Magic and it seems as though he like contains all of this knowledge about history and he's connected to this magic and when uh the three-eyed Raven is killed by the White Walkers bran becomes the new three-eyed Raven and so bran downloads all of this knowledge and bran becomes the new three-eyed Raven in the books there isn't yet this idea of like the three-eyed Raven as a mantle that you can pass down in the books uh he's called the three-eyed Crow or the last green Seer and it is uh strongly implied that he is the same person as uh Bryan Rivers blood Raven who is a character from The Duncan egg stories who we might see soon in the KN of the seven Kingdom spin-off shows that show that's coming up so in the books it seems a bit different where blood Raven's just like this guy who's connected to the old gods and the weirwoods and he's very creepy and like some people theorize that he might want to exploit bran and some people theorize that the old gods and the children of the forest are exploiting blood Raven and he doesn't actually quite know what's going on and he's being used as a puppet so there's a lot of layers going on here I mean is Alice connected to that maybe maybe like it seems like the old gods and the weirwoods are all sort of interconnected through time and space um I don't think Alice is like a three-eyed Raven before blood Raven is necessarily I think she's just like a Woods witch but one of the interesting things is the ghost of high heart because in this episode they mention high heart high heart is this hill in the riverlands that Aya goes to in the Game of Thrones books and she and the Brotherhood meet with this uh witch called The Ghost of high heart who I mean it's kind of interesting that they meet with the ghost of high heart when the Brotherhood without banners Worship the Lord of Light RoR who's like a fire God Who You'd think would be different from the old gods anyway there's this cool character the ghost of high heart and she gives all these prophecies like the ghost of high heart predicts the Red Wedding and predicts Sansa having poison in her hair killing Joffrey and predicts all these events happening and the way that the ghost of high heart talks reminds me of Alice Rivers I think she talks about those old gods won't let me sleep and they whisper to me and they tell me all these things which I think is similar to how Alice describes how she receives information from the old gods like she doesn't hear news she hears Whispers so there's I I think there are similarities between the ghost of high heart and Alice and if you wanted to have a crazy Theory you could speculate that well maybe Alice Rivers event becomes the ghost of high heart now the ghost of high heart in the books is an albino and is like 3T tall or something uh so maybe Alice is using a magical glamour to change her appearance which she almost certainly is because the actor Gail Rankin says that Alice Rivers is hundreds of years old potentially so and the books say that Alice is using a magical disguise to look younger probably so so there are there are possibilities here and the Ghost of of high heart is cool because the ghost of high heart uh is also implied to maybe be the witch who Jenny of oldstones brings to court who prophesied that the prince that was promised would be born of the line of Aries and raela which is why they got married which is why rhaegar was born which is why Jon Snow was born which is why the whole story happened so yeah Alice is maybe potentially like a Super Key Central character in all of this but um but it's only a theory that she's the same as the ghost of high heart uh thank you Molina who says Helena knows what amond has done yeah so while we're talking about mysterious magic women with special Insight uh Helena also uh has visions of the future she fora a beast beneath the boards she predicted that Amon would close an eye before his eye got cut out she seems to anticipate uh the rats coming and killing her son Jaris and now Helena seems to know that amond was responsible for the fall of his brother Aon because Helena says was it worth the price so I think the implication here is that you know amond has committed this horrible crime by attacking and by betraying his brother and his King Aon and the reason why amond did that was for the throne I mean partly because Amon hates Aon for bullying him um but also Amon wants the throne because he considers himself more worthy he has studied the blade and philosophy which he thinks entitles him to the throne and now that Jaris is dead amont is next in line for the throne it is a little complicated because in the books um there is another child of aegon and Helena called malor but um now that Jaris is dead amond is next in line for the throne they skip over aegon's daughter Jara because she's female and they can't very well have a female um inherit the throne because the whole reason Aon has a claim is because they're skipping over rira because she's female so Amon is next in line for the throne um as the greens see it um and meanwhile it's hilarious that Damon is over here saying that he is the rightful a of the throne that there is no way that Damon is the rightful air of the throne cuz even if you like the only reason to skip over riro is because she's female and if you skip over reer for being female you've got to make aegon the heir because aegon is the eldest male son of King viseris brother viseris is brother Damon does not come before vas's son aegon that like no one thinks that that's how the inheritance works so Damon is not only like defying his uh wife and niece and Queen rira by calling himself King he's um he's defying the entire system of succession only if Aon and amond and Deon were dead dead and well yeah yeah only if those three were dead would Damon have like any real claim to the throne Binky says that aegon is looking a lot like his father now yeah so we get to see aegon looking very unwell they bring him home in a box to hide the um terrible condition that aegon is in uh so Aon has bones like all over his body in the books uh he's got a broken hip and broken rib and also in the books his armor melts into his body in Hot D aegon's armor is made of Valyrian steel so it doesn't melt but in the books the armor melts into his body and so it's this really horrific injury that amond caused and uh no one knows if aegon will get better no one knows if aegon will wake up again he's in limbo and yeah he is looking like V Saras cuz we see that aegon's burns they cover like half of his face which looks similar to how viserys's leprosy type disease made half of his face uh all messed up so yeah there are interesting parallels between viseris and Aon uh both of them are Kings who are incapacitated and there's the question of will people stay loyal to them similar to Lord grul like Lord grul is old and and sick and can't seal his bowels yet Oscar Tully is still loyal to him uh thanks for the donation from Julie Sherwood who says it was hard to guard Helena's emotion when she asked amond if the price was worth it does she condemn amond or is she apathetic yeah so I think part of what's going on with Helena is that Helena has visions of the future she has like some idea of what's going to happen but she can't seem to do anything to stop it like there are similar characters in the books who are tortured by prophecy um Daenerys well and Cersei like Cersei has this uh Prophecy from Maggie the frog in the books about how uh her children will die and she will be choked by her valon qua and so Cersei in book four A Feast for Crows does all these crazy things to try and prevent the prophecy but it seems as though it's it's just causing the prophecy to happen more it seems inevitable and one of the questions in the books is what is the point of knowing the future if you can't change it um it seems as though these prophecies the point is not to help you the point is to torture you dreams and prophecies I think are a metaphor for hopes and dreams in the real world and sometimes hopes and dreams and plans and Ambitions can do more damage than good and they can torture us if we have these fears that we cannot avert if we have these dreams that we cannot realize I think that's the emotional purpose of of these visions and things so I think Helena is in this position where she sees Doom coming she had this intuition that her son Jaris would die she had this intuition that Amon would lose his eye she had some knowledge that amond would uh hurt her husband brother aegon and she can't stop it so it's like well it it's like learned helplessness or something it's like well you would feel I don't know if apathetic is the right word but you would feel powerless in a similar way to how re and Allison feel powerless this episode so Helena seems to have this just Bleak numb except of what's going on she hasn't done much in this series she hasn't acted much because all she can do is helplessly watch as the things she foresees come to be like Cassandra in Greek mythology I I do wonder if amond and Helena might develop some kind of a relationship we saw in season one that amond talks about you know I would marry Helena you know I would do my duty I because if amond wants to be the king he needs a queen he needs Hees and the tarians sure do love their incest it is part of their tradition it's part of keeping their blood pure it's the kind of uh stuff that Amon would probably be into since Amon seems to be a bit of a traditionalist tug Arian so maybe amond is thinking about huh I should marry Helena and we can have hirs and that will solidify my position as the future ruler of westero so I think that would make makes sense in the books there's this idea called tarian exceptionalism because the Old King Jaris had to go through this whole uh process to convince the faith of the seven to allow the tarians to practice incest because when the tarians took over Westeros uh everyon was uh very icked out by their practice of incest marrying their siblings especially the faith of the seven who preached that incest was an abomination but the tarians did not want to stop doing incest partly because they want to keep their dragon blood pure they have this unique power of controlling dragons and they don't want anyone else to get that power it's in their blood it's in their DNA and if they go marrying other families those families May gain the power to ride dragons like how rainy staran married Kus valion and that gave corus's Valar on Offspring the power to ride dragons so George Martin confirmed this in I think one of the history of westero interviews that that's part of why tarians do incest so Jaris was like okay we we're we're going to marry our siblings you're going to have to get used to that and so Jaris sat down and he created this ideology where called tarian exceptionalism that argued that tarians are different to normal people so they should follow different rules tarians are better so they can't be judged by the usual rules of the faith uh and the idea is that since Arians are better than everyone else and they alone ride dragons they can follow different rules but there have been times when that idea of tarian exceptionalism was threatened like one of Jara Jar's daughters died of a sickness when part of the ideology was that tarians don't get sick Daenerys seems to think that tarians are immune to disease and sickness but but some tarians have died of sickness so it's similar in this episode when when M's head is dragged around and people are like I thought Dragons Were Gods but apparently no they're just animals made of meat and now princess rainy Taran is dead as well so it's like well are tarians Untouchable or can anyone kill tarians that's a pretty dangerous idea for the small folk to get in their heads when the small folk are hungry and when the small folk are discontented and when there's this propaganda being spread around by mazaria I mean Lis was made the master of Whisperers recently and now mazaria is spreading Whispers of her own so it'll be interesting is there going to be some kind of spy propaganda war between mazaria and Lis as these rival Whisperers could be very interesting uh thanks for the donation from gunar garon who says prophecies are only there to rough you up in the donkey yeah the line in the books from marwin the Mage is that prophecy will bite your prick off every time still it's still uh it's still tantalizing people still want to know their future even though it tends to dig people over so we saw the twins in the riverlands the twins uh are important because they have a bridge over the Trident River and if craigan Stark is going to come South with his army of northmen he's going to need to cross this bridge it's the same issue with uh the phrase in Game of Thrones when robstar was coming South he needed to make a deal with Lord Walder fry so that Walder would let Rob South Rob had to make a marriage PCT with uh he promised to marry one of walder's daughters in order to be allowed to cross his Bridge so Jace wants to make a similar deal he wants to make sure that these phase let cagan's army South so he says what do you idiots want and the phrase say we want Haron Hall so that's uh pretty pretty ambitious from the phrase pretty on brand to be that uh demanding so yeah the phrase just casually ask for the biggest castle in Westerose and since Lord Laris strong is currently officially the ruler of Haron Hall and Lis has cided with the greens Jace and reer are like well okay like we're going to kill Laris presumably we're not going to let the strongs control Haren Hall anymore so after the war sure whatever we will give Haren Hall to the phrase they can deal with the curse we don't get these characters names in the episode but I think that they might be Lord forest forest fry and Lady sabatha fry in the books sabatha fry uh has a fun personality she's described as a uh she's described as courageous and merciless she is sharp featured sharp tonged a haridan who would sooner ride than dance she wore male in instead of silk she was fond of killing men and kissing women sabatha may have been gay I don't know if this uh lady Frey is meant to be sabbatha fry though she looks a bit older than I imagined Sabbath of fry being in the books but that might be who it is and the phase complained that well sure like we would like to join Raina and Jace and the blacks but we're worried about the dragons are you going to protect us if amon's Dragon Vaga comes along and attacks us and Jason says yeah sure I'll protect you Damon will protect you but I mean the phrase point out that dragons can't be in two places at once which I think is a fair point dragons don't seem to be very good defensive weapons dragons are great for attacking dragons are great for burning a castle or burning an army but if a dragon turns up and attacks the twins it it could be gone like the twins could be a smoking crater by the time that Jay saw Damon turn up to defend the twins so it's it's I mean they're like nuclear weapons that they're so destructive but very difficult to defend with they can work as a deterrent but there are already nukes flying you know meles and Vega and Sunfire have been Unleashed so everyone is really worried now if Rooks rest can burn who who's going to be burned next it's this deep insecurity and instability now it was uh a very big bad thing that dragons have now been Unleashed thanks for the Super Chat from Jordan who says that ye was mentioned yeah so we got this scene where Baylor talked to her Grandpa Kus Kus is reeling from the death of his wife rise and Baylor has come because rira wants Kus to be uh her hand of the queen and they talk about how Kus is this famous sailor Kus has been all around the world uh they Kus has been to ye and to asai which is pretty crazy like that's like going to like the North Pole that's like going to timbuk 2 that's like going to the moon and back it's uh it's a very remote place let me pull up a map so I can show you how far away this place is um map map map where's that map here's the map so on the left here is westos King's Landing Dragon Stone drift marks near there somewhere callus is one of the only men alive who's gone All the Way East he's he's been out to kth he's been out Beyond kth to ye which is like the Game of Thrones version of Imperial China and he's been all the way over here to asai which is like the city at the edge of the world and asai is so remote and so mysterious that no one really knows what goes on there there's all these masked Shadow binders and there's all this nuclear radioactive River that's got fish in it that look all wrong and there's stigi the corpse City the heart of darkness which seems to be like this mysterious ground zero of some crazy disaster there are some interesting theories that Shai may have been the capital of some ancient dragon riding Empire because a Shai is made of black stone and fused black stone is made by dragons but it seems to like it may predate valyria there's all these theories that this was an Empire that some kind of horrific catastrophe like damaged the city and left at this smoking crater and because asai is mostly like empty now there's theories that it may have been built by The lovecraftian squishers Who uh we also had cracka Point name dropped this episode but anyway yeah asai is like this impossibly uh mysterious distant place and Kus is one of the only people in Westeros who's ever been there and uh come back to tell the tale it's kind of crazy how Kus doesn't mention this more often honestly like it it's as though he has been to the Moon you know like it is the most distant place that any human could go to um if I was callus I would brag about that a lot more often and you would think that you would you would have seen things in a Shai that would really make a mark on you you know uh supposedly in the books uh marwin uh and Mir mazder and uron claim to have been to a shy and all of those people seem Changed by that you know I mean this is right next to the city of the winged men like this is Edge of the map stuff and Kus has been there and so it's a cool law thing but it also has this great emotional through line in the episode because um because bayor says that the reason why Kus went on all of these voyages the reason why he went to the ends of the Earth and brought back all this wealth and became the most famous celebrated sailor in Westeros was for rainy he apparently did all of this as an act of love for Rise which is incredibly beautiful and Incredibly heartbreaking now that rise is dead although I also think we should doubt that idea a little bit because remember when Kus in season 1 was was telling rise that oh you know the reason why I'm marrying L Auto raino and the reason why I'm trying so hard to make the valion powerful is for you rise it's so that you know it it's to make up for you being rejected from the iron throne and R was saying in season 1 I don't want you to do these things things I don't want you to drag us further into politics I want us to just chill with the family we have and rainy also complained when Kus went on went on his Wars for the stepstones when rise would prefer that Kus stayed with her so like did rise really want her husband to be gone for years at a time to go and take Treasures from Eastern countries I don't I don't know if she did but at least Baylor and maybe Kus seemed to think that um it was all about his love for rainies uh Kus also says to bayor hey you should be my heir to drift Mark you're cool you've got a dragon you're you're talking sense into me yeah you should you should rule drift Mark which is really funny because um Baylor can't be the ruler of drift mark because Baylor is betrothed to marry Jace rainer's Heir so Baylor is set to be the queen of Westeros alongside Jace after rera dies that's the plan so I mean Baylor can't very well Rule driftmark and be the queen of Westeros cani the the obvious choice to be the air to drift Mark is Raina that's what rise wanted Raina is Ba's twin sister and Raina Raina is one of the only people alive who has valion blood who could have a claim on drift mark But Kus doesn't even seem to consider Raina a decent choice so people continue to just disrespect and and look of Raina Baylor refuses to be callus as air to drift Mark she says that drift Mark should be ruled by salt and sea while bayor is Fire and Blood bayor is a targaryan she's the daughter of Damon taryan she rides a dragon Moon Dancer she says that she wants to die by fire which is a bit ominous there's a lot of uh death being foreshadowed I mean Alice says that Damon will die at Haron Hall and uh Lord uh darkland says that Kristen will have his death and now Baylor is talking about dying in fire right after Raines died in fire I sure hope Baylor doesn't die by fire but that's that's what she wishes for herself it's this very self-destructive ideology that the tarians have but Baylor insists that yeah salt and sea must inherit drift Mark so who will inherit drift Mark I think one obvious possibility is Allan we learned last episode that Allan is the bastard son of Kus valion and Allan is a sailor who has sailed alongside Kus so maybe he's a potential candidate to inherit drift Mark thanks for the donation from John who says if I'm king of Westeros the first thing I do is build a second Royal bridge over the Trident can't afford the fry price every time you need to get something other than a dragon in or out of the North so unserious yeah it is um a giant pain in the ass for everybody that the twins are just like camping on this important bridge and forcing everyone to bow to their political demands every time someone wants to go through the neck like it's it's a giant pain in the ass and a lot of people are cross about that there's this class issue as well because the phase are not like an ancient Noble proud house the the phas are not descended from from Old Kings like a lot of the other noble families are in Westeros the phas are relatively new money and they built this bridge and they've been exploiting the hell out of it ever since you'd think that uh it would be in the Royal Family's interest to have control of their own infrastructure rather than letting the phrase privatize it you know so I agree it would be a good idea to uh to build a bridge that can be used by everyone not just the phrase but I mean all of this is fairly new like Jaris built the King's Road uh not all that long ago a lot of the infrastructure is new so um I guess they haven't sorted their out yet vilia says why would Allison risk her life drinking Moon tea she is pretty insignificant now does anyone really care if she's got a boy toy yeah I mean that's a good question is like what like how risky and compromising is it for Allison to be having sex with Kristen how much of a big deal is that we see how adultery is treated as a serious crime against like marjerie and Cersei in in the time of Game of Thrones but Allison is being excluded from power it may be that if Allison is not ruling maybe people will just let her do whatever and of course it's all you know it's a double standard and men can get away with having lovers all the time but it it it is something that could be used against Allison politically but it seems like she's not being treated as a political agent anymore because she's rejected from the position of regent to her utter frustration so yeah maybe you're right maybe Allison could get away with having a boy toy but I mean having children would be harder to get away with if she's giving birth to kids it's going to be a lot harder for everyone to just ignore the fact that the queen is doing adultery I mean Allison could remarry that would be completely acceptable she could remarry and then have bastard children with someone else and claim that the bastards are hers like rira does I mean that's an option and that would be even more hilariously ironic she can't marry Kristen because Kristen is on the King's Guard but I mean to is Kristen really the best choice of lover Kristen's a murderer Kristen is sworn to the King's Guard surely there's someone else who Allison could have sex with um maybe she's just into it because he's the forbidden fruit but I really enjoy this scene between Allison and and Kristen because Allison confronts Kristen for his betrayal Allison thought that Kristen was on her side Kristen is alive because Allison uh prevent Ed Kristen from committing suicide Kristen is Kristen murdered Joffrey lonmouth and it seems that Allison protected Kristen from punishment like you you would think that Kristen would at least be you know punished for killing Joffrey but it seems as though Allison saved him from that Kristen owes a lot to Allison and the fact that Kristen turned around and supported amond as Regent instead of Allison is an insult to Allison this scene is preceded by uh che's dog like these these rat catchers who were hanged by aegon finally get cut down from the walls cuz they were probably smelly and we see that uh cheese one of the two men who murdered Jaris uh he was hanged and Cheese's dog is still staying by his side despite the fact that cheese kicked the dog he seemed like a cruel master and yet the dog is still loyal to him so I think the dog is there to like highlight that theme of loyalty because Allison is complaining about Kristen's dis loyalty if only Kristen was as loyal to Allison as this dog is to cheese if only donon was as loyal to reain as the dog is to cheese you know so uh yeah it's but I mean Kristen in his defense is in a really awkward position because Kristen I think sees the way the wind is blowing like he he knows that amond it seems is going to be the king next Kristen needs to be right by the king since Kristen is the King's God Kristen is obliged to obey his Prince but he also has some obligation to the queen and that's one of the thingses that like jimie explores as a king's God is the idea of whose whose oath comes first who are you loyal to you sworn to obey the king you're sworn to obey the prince you sworn to obey the gods you sworn to obey the laws and sometimes those things contradict each other so Christen is in a really awkward position Christen is also um well yeah Kristen says it is the order of things Kristen says the man will rule that is the order of things and that's the same line that rainy's used in season 1 rainy's told rira that you will never rule the men will never accept a female ruler because that is the order of things like patriarchy is one of the themes of this episode in particular and of the series in general because reer gets um excluded and struggles to lead because of her gender because she wasn't trained for war Allison gets excluded because of her gender because they want a man to lead during the war they want to seem strong and Men come first in the succession Christen says that is the order of things so Allison and rer both struggle against that in this episode Allison says uh what amond has become what amond has somehow become she's made a few comments like this where I think she's implying that amond is a horrible murderer because amond betrayed Aon and Allison certainly suspects that amond betrayed an attacked Aon but Kristen refused to say so again Kristen cided with Amon not with Allison um but um yeah Allison talks about oh wow amond is this horrible person how did my son become this horrible kinslaying murderer and it's funny cuz like Allison was not a great parent to Amon as far as we saw like Allison hugged amond a couple of times in season 1 but Allison also told Aon that it was fine for aegon to hit amond as long as it wasn't in public you know like I I don't think Amon got a lot of support or guidance as a child I mean Amon certainly didn't get much love from his father viseris you know so like I don't think it's a great shock that all Amon got from his parents was like largely being ignored but also being taught to fight you know like the one way that Amon got positive reinforcement was with a sword so of course amon's going out there swinging a sword it's um yeah I think Allison is perhaps willfully blind for for how her kids grew up though of course you know amon's crimes are his own responsibility but uh yeah so Allison is uh alienated from her son Prince Regent Amon she's feeling alienated from Kristen she like these are the most important relationships with the most powerful people in her faction and uh she doesn't seem to be getting along with them anymore so that's a big problem Kristen tries to describe his trauma Kristen was really shaken by what he saw at rook's Rest by all the men being being burned alive by all of the bone and the ash that he saw and he there's this wonderful performance where he sort of in a choked awkward voice he says that their armor melted and there were men on fire and Kristen struggles to describe the horror that he feels Allison doesn't do a great job of listening like Allison sort of says what what did you see what what was such a big deal you know like um so Kristen doesn't do a great job of communicating Allison doesn't do a great job of listening and so Kristen walks away and so he he sort of fails to express his feelings lot lots of failed Communication in this series and ultimately um Kristen does this sort of paternalistic thing where he's like I'm doing these atrocities for you you don't want to do all these horrible things I'll do them for you don't you get your your ladylike hands dirty with this I I'll protect you from all the nasty business you wouldn't want to see any blood but of course you know Allison just drank moona Allison attacked r with a knife Allison Allison has seen some but she's being excluded from The Grubby business of violence and politics because of a agender um but then at the end Allison says Kristen I did not give you permission to say my name so this really seems like a rejection like this is Allison saying okay we are not anything special anymore we are not lovers anymore I am just your queen and you will treat me as such so maybe is this the end of their intimate relationship I mean previously Allison said to Kristen you know know this was the last time maybe they will just continue having sex but it really seems like a um their relationship is faltering and you know Kristen is still hand of the king so it's a problem it's a problem uh jez Falcon thanks to the donation says could corus's bastard ride a dragon do valion have the ability to ride dragons I thought the family came from valyria and could be Dragon Riders but then why doesn't callus have a dragon yeah so those are good questions um so valyria is the ancient dragon lord Empire and tarians and valerion and celtigar crabs in the chat are from valyria but not all valyrians could ride dragons only the dragon Lords of valyria could ride dragons and House Targaryen is the only dragon lord Dragon riding family that survived so in theory only tarians can ride dragons the reason why uh can ride a dragon is because he was the son of rain e taryan so someone who you don't so you don't need the Taran name but you do need Taran blood in order to ride dragons that seems to be how it works in the books the valaran have intermarried with the tarians a few times in recent history so in the books it might be that the valion can ride dragons um but it's not clear if they have intermarried as much in the show I don't know so your question of like can callus his bastard son Allan ride dragons I I think the answer is we don't know basically um because as far as we know Alan doesn't have any tarian blood in hot D maybe he does maybe he doesn't it's um it's an important question but I mean certainly UL uh UL the white the party boy at the brothel the other episode he claims to be the bastard son of Balon taryan so if that's true then presumably UL could write a dragon so that's a possibility but um in the books that you know there's a lot of mystery to this process so in the coming episodes I think we will learn a lot more about who can and who can't ride dragons thanks for the donation from bumper dump who says it's quite annoying that five episodes into season 2 nobody has said Gods be good yeah we haven't even gotten a that's the stuff lonel okay uh what else haven't we talked about in the scene with uh aegon's uh burned body we saw some silent sisters hovering over around the corpse which is a very ominous sign because the silent sisters are priestesses who uh handle the dead we saw the silent sisters with vyond when he was killed so they're kind of like vultures circling you know they're are very bad Omen suggesting that aegon might die later we see aegon like you know in bed in a coma no one knows if he's ever going to wake up and his mother Allison comes over him and um is by her son's bedside and then she walks away and As She's Walking Away aegon says mommy but Allison doesn't hear it's the most tragic sad stuff because aegon has been so desperate for Love from his parents and he has not gotten much love from his parents and so this is another failure to communicate this is another failure of Allison and Aon to connect it's like when Aon was crying about the murder of his son Jaris and Allison did not Embrace him it's uh it's that very real struggle that people have to love each other and um the stakes are particularly High when you're in the royal family thank you Howland reads 12 gauge who says I really thought we were about to see some crispy Bracken after they rejected Damon's terms and Caris was growling what was your interpretation of Damon's instructions to Willam did he not expect backlash yeah I thought it was uh outrageously Brave of Lord Amos Bracken and his buddies to defy donon while Damon was facing them with coraxis and yeah I thought this scene was a little bit confusing with the way uh Caris was looming down on uh Amos I thought that might have implied that Caris was about to kill Amos but no apparently not and I agree that am that Damon's instructions to Willam are a bit confusing in the moment but later we learned that Damon basically told uh Willam Blackwood to do some atrocities do some war crimes to force and convince and persuade the brackens to join donon and that involved stealing children from their beds it involved murdering civilians it involved attacking septs uh they did some really horrific war crimes to force the brackens to submit and that pissed off everybody so Damon is making the same mistake that he made with jeris he's committing a war crime in re's name which is a big problem I mean Damon told Willam we can't do this in the name of Rainer and Damon uh but Willam flew taryan banners while he was doing these war crimes anyway so William kind of over uh donon and Raina I suppose so uh yeah it's a big problem it's a bit like when the mountain goes and does a bit of does some war crimes in the riverlands in the Game of Thrones books to get people in trouble but uh yeah it's uh it's a problem and it does not seem like it's successful cuz all those River Lords come and complain to Damon so um it's a problem JS says uh don't you think everything would have been better if aegon the Conqueror established a master of cognitive behavioral therapy and conflict resolution on the small Council yeah I think a whole lot of therapy would do this Kingdom well uh there was no update to the opening sequence yet uh I imagine that the opening sequence is going to be updated to show rook's rest the uh death of mes and Raines and the crippling of Aon and Sunfire seem like pretty significant events and uh it seems like the pattern is that they don't update the tapestry right after the events they they update the tapestry after the propaganda and after the history has been written like it takes time for The Narrative to be established so I think it's interesting that uh the greens are claiming that Aon killed the dragon meles when we actually know it was amon's Dragon Vega who killed melis so I wonder if the tapestry might show Aon killing Mel showing the propaganda not showing the reality the victors write the history right that would be interesting so uh we talked about how you know Kus is feeling so horrible about the death of his wife rise I mean remember that corus's last real conversation with rise was Ry saying hey like I'm upset that you cheated on me and had a bastard son and Kus was like what's with the interrogation woman get off my back just cuz I cheated on you you know um it was a bad conversation it was a bad uh note that they left it on so Kus has got to be feeling horrible about that now that his wife is dead um and you know this is a huge issue for rer as well because you know rainy kind of disliked Raina for being a little twerp who was you know replacing her as the female leader of Westeros but rise was a great adviser rise was was honest and and was straight talking with rira rise also appreciated and supported that rira was trying to avoid war rise was a voice for peace even though she does have maybe the highest kill count of anyone in the show um so that's a huge loss Rus was a great model of female power as well later on we see r reading a book about Queen viena who was one of the Sister Wives of Aon the Conqueror cuz I think that R is seeking like role models of female power she is struggling to be a wartime female leader she doesn't know how to do it and so she's looking to history and she's looking to other people who she can imitate so venor is one of those people although Jace says to rira oh I hope you're not going to try and be like Vena because Vena um you know V was a powerful woman who did uh a bit of ruling in uh aegon's name um she was an effective wartime political leader she was also a bit evil perhaps uh Vena supported her uh son mego the cruel in his claim on the throne and uh Meo was awful so it was uh maybe not good to have supported him Vena was also like maybe a romancer Vena maybe did some dark magic to bring meor back to life after a bit of a tussle that meor had Vena was a was a harsh figure to say the least but she also was an effective leader who helped Forge the Seven Kingdoms Vena uh started the King's Guard Vena came up to Aon the Conqueror and cut him with her blade uh as a way of convincing Aon that hey you don't have enough protection your guards are insufficient so that's why they created the king's god um Verena was a rider of Vaga before Vega became uh I think it was oh crap was it Baylor or Balon or Amon I forget but then it was Lena valion and then it was amond Taran who rides vagar and uh in this episode they say that Vena was the first writer of vagar which is interesting new information but Vena also wielded the sword Dark sister which is now wielded by Damon Valyrian steel sword so uh yeah rera is searching for uh role models other female leaders and Vena is a mixed bag when it comes to being a ruler um so yeah they paraded the the head of mes through King's Landing and that may have been a mistake mazaria says that was a mistake because it makes the tarians look vulnerable in the books the they also parade the head of Lord Simon ston Simon ston was the Lord of rook's rest who went back to protect his castle but uh he uh was killed at least in the books we don't know if Simon is still alive in the show I suppose but we did see a giant dragon explode on his castle so I I think Simon might be dead but I suppose we will find out thank you old gods and new who says what are your thoughts on the Jos of the small Folk Starving in King's Landing while M's head was being carted through reminded me of the scene in Game of Thrones with Joffrey and the cowpie yeah well we have seen riots happen in King's Landing before haven't we like in season 2 episode six of Game of Thrones when the common people are hungry and there's a war and Leadership is uncertain they get angry look at little jberry looking looking cross he's he's not enjoying this either so uh yeah I sure hope that isn't a riot I mean that might be what mazaria is trying to cause right mazaria and rera send Alinda into King's Landing to try and spread some Whispers to turn people against aegon apparently so maybe they're trying to stir up some riots to try and bring down the greens um I thought it was a missed opportunity that they're parading M's head around King's Landing last season mes killed a whole bunch of innocent common people in the dragon pit I would have thought that some of these people should have recognized M and gone huh that's the dragon that killed a bunch of people at the dragon pit like that would be a good opportunity to address that but they didn't address it so I don't know are they going to address that fact I keep bringing it up in videos cuz I I continue to be surprised that they don't address the fact that melee's killed a bunch of people but um maybe eventually uh it's so as they cut King aegon home in a box aegon this is the first time Aon has tried to do a thing and he comes home in a box it's rough it's rough man his first battle did not go well but they bring Aon home in a box and Allison uh sees that amond now is wearing aegon's dagger the dagger that was aegon the conquerors the dagger that has the prophecy inscribed on it the dagger that Al that Ammond is now wearing and um so Allison looks suspiciously at Ammond and then looks suspiciously at the box and so she's like oh I think my son might have just like murdered my the son that's a problem but she doesn't ask amond about it Allison and Amon seem unable to communicate which is really bad like especially earlier on when Amon had just killed Luke and Amon you know part of Amon felt guilty about killing Luke he didn't deliberately kill Luke vagar disobeyed him and like at that time that would have been such a great time for them to communicate imagine if Allison and Amon had a heart tohe heart and they shared their vulnerability and am explained that no like I didn't mean to murder my nephew I didn't want to escalate this war if they understood each other better this whole royal family could be functioning a lot better but they failed to communicate I mean Amon must have some feelings of like regret or doubt I mean he's looking introspective here there must be some part of amond that feels bad for betraying his brother despite wanting his throne despite hating him for the bullying but they failed to communicate and so they just they inter each other as the the the worst possible selves and they just dig deeper into being monstrous and it sucks so uh yeah they uh try and save aegon's life Grandmaster orwh leads the treatment of aegon they put some uh cabbage leaf looking things on aegon which I'm sure will heal him right up and uh no one knows if he'll survive um and amond just walks up at his burned brother and just says well guess I guess I'm going to replace him guess I'm going to be the leader now Amon does seem very cold to aegon my goodness and um Allison comes up to Kristen and says hey what happened to my son was Amon involved in what's happened to my son and Kristen refuses to answer he protects amond because we've seen that Kristen and amond are buddies they work together amond is the prince amond is now the Regent Kristen has an obligation to support am but also Kristen and Allison have been banging and she is his Queen and she and she saved his life from suicide he has an obligation to her as well but he chooses amont which is rough Kristen also says that like hey like yes aegon got burned but also 900 men died and I think part of what's interesting here is that Christen is trying to speak up for like hey let's care about the ordinary men as well like I know that you tarians are really cool and you're Dragon Riders but maybe we should care about the ordinary men who lost their lives I mean let's remember that all of those darklands and stokeworth and rosby's they did not choose to join the greens they did not choose to fight in this battle Kristen forced them at sword point to join his army and it seemed as though Kristen deliberately sent the rosb and the stokeworth and the darklands ahead first into battle at rook's rest like they were the cannon fodder and Kristen held back his own men the high towers and the tarians so I mean part of Kristen must feel guilty that he basically sent 900 men to die in the meat grinder and I think Kristen is trying to acknowledge that and Advocate that to Allison and say hey like yes like your awful son got burned but also 900 other men died and they have families too and and we should care about them as well but Allison um is not particularly interested in that I mean she hasn't seen that I think last episode emphasized that Kristen has seen the horror of war in a way that um most of the other characters have not and uh it it has shaken him and uh he's just sort of defaulting back to uh standing alongside amond and uh doing his duty and hitting the bad guys with swords until they die so then we're on Dragonstone and rira uh the the black council is worried because their biggest dragon Mel is dead and they don't have an army um I mean they do have people coming from from the north and coming from the veil and Damon is apparently trying to Rally the riverlands but right now they they don't have an Army in the crown lands and uh their dragons are smaller than vagar and it's a bit scary and this guy Alfred broom disrespects rera to her face like he's like you you don't know anything about war because you're a girl and rer points out that you don't know anything about war either because there have barely been any wars in the last 70 years aside from like the step stones and that kafuffle on Toth um but Alfred nonetheless is like no you don't know it's a bit silly because I mean rera knows how to fly a dragon uh and Alfred broom doesn't know that I you could argue that rira has more uh relevant Knowledge and Skills than any of these men do um but rira uh is trying to do the right thing and she's trying to know her limitations and so she's frustrated that she was never taught how to lead a war because while boys like you know jaay and aegon and amond they were trained from a very young age with swords and with military strategy Rea was not she was pouring the wine for viseris all that time so it makes sense that she's turning to history books she's reading about Vena she gets callus to be her hand I think R is being smart here knowing her limitations and trying to compensate for them by learning and by getting allies that makes a lot of sense later rira sends Alfred to Haren Hall rira says well Damon's not communicating with me so Alfred you should go and talk to Damon and maybe he'll listen to you I don't see why Damon would listen to Alfred broom but I think maybe part of what rer is doing is she's uh just getting rid of Alfred like Alfred is openly disrespecting her in front of their whole Council so it makes sense to get rid of this guy it's a bit like in Game of Thrones when uh gior Mormont on uh the knights watch sends aliser far to the South to King's Landing partly as a diplomatic but also partly just to get rid of Alisa because Alisa keeps fighting with snow so uh sending sending your most annoying colleague on a International work trip is a pretty good way to uh to uh make things a bit more tolerable at the office I think Vega asks if Sunfire is dead yeah Kristen's wording is a bit confusing Kristen says that he left some men and he left Sunfire to guard rook's rest because Sunfire was long in the dying it does sound a bit like he's saying Sunfire is dead but he's also saying that Sunfire is guarding rook's rest so I think the point is that Sunfire is very badly wounded but still seems to be alive for now I think that is the situation uh so yeah the black council is uh is in a spot of bother and reer is struggling to lead it Stefon darkland says that we've got an answer for duskendale because stefon's father Lord darkland was just killed by chis at duskendale so you know even Stefon you know he's now like talking over rera and yelling about who we need to go and fight no one here seems to be listening to rira and this is why she needs callus to bang some heads and get people in line uh rira says oh we should send some support to our allies in maidenpool and crackclaw point so uh those are some other uh minor locations around the crownlands this is uh crackclaw point here crack point which has a bunch of minor houses ruling through there and Maiden pool is over here Maiden pool has a famous uh bath house called Junk's pool uh where uh Queen alisin was almost assassinated some Years Ago by a bunch of nuns with knives tried to kill alisin at Maiden pool and uh crack point is uh home to fan favorite book character Nimble dick crab Illustrated here by San rxan Nimble dick crab is a uh fun character who travels with Brienne and then he gets murdered by a Jester if I'm not mistaken so Brienne buries him under a wewood tree and Nimble dick crab tells all these Charming stories about crack point he claims that uh cracka point is inhabited by squishes which are like love crafty monsters who steal children and who breed with women so there are many little love crafty and beasties haunting the margins of the books and uh some of them live in crackclaw point perhaps Rainier shall recruit some squishes to uh eat the greens so yeah nice to have those little lore drops get mentioned that's fun that's fun and um what else on the black Council Rainer is being kind of disrespected being talked past she's sort of struggling to contribute to the war conversation she wants to write off on her Dragon Cyrax but she's the queen so she can't go so it's very frustrating and that's why she gets uh callous on side so Jace is also frustrated he's the prince he's a dragon rider he wants to contribute but rira is not letting him join the war because she's terrified that he'll be killed and his Dragon Vermax is relatively small and weak so Jace tells Baylor I'm going to go and talk to donon and I'm going to make donon listen to us and make donon respect reira which obviously is not going to work I mean donon has never listened to anyone let alone his uh twerp of a stepson so it's not a great plan and bayor says it's not a great plan Jace's fiance Baylor says maybe maybe don't do that so instead Jace has this idea to go to the twins so that the northern Army can pass through the in the books there are soldiers gathering at White har and Winterfell in the north and Baron in sisteron on those weird islands with the people with the webbed hands who again more love crafy and stuff going on on sisteron gold town and the gates of the moon in the veil so thanks to Jace's diplomacy thanks to Jace's missions to wiell and to the Eerie there are many many men Gathering to help Queen reera so they do have an army Gathering but will they come in time Baylor uh supports Jace in a little bit of mild treason by saying that ah well rira is not approving this plan to go to the twins but bayor agrees to keep that mission secret from Raina so it's a bit of a problem that Prince jaay and Baylor are going against rainer's wishes Rainer doesn't want them to go do things without her knowing but uh that's what they're doing people are disrespecting R's Authority it's a problem but of course it's also very understandable that Jayce wants to contribute because he's a young prince he's the future king of Westeros is the plan so he wants to assert himself and and show and get some experience as a leader rira said last episode that oh Jace you're too inexperienced to join the war and it's like mate how do you get experience if you're not letting me experience anything it's like when you try to apply for a job position but you can't but all of the job listings demand 10 years of experience it's like how am I going to get experience if I they only accept people who are already experienced it's a problem so uh yeah Jace flies off to the twins um and we talked about the riverlands where uh the brackens refused to join Damon and uh Damon suggested some war crimes that'll work atrocities they never backfire and uh we also get this cool scene at the Eerie so the Eerie is looking different to how it's looked in the past it's gone through a few different uh incarnations in Game of Thrones um in the books it looks like this in Game of Thrones season 1 it looks like this in Game of Thrones season 4 it looks like this see we just making a video live on air huh um lots of different versions of how the Eerie looks and I think that it's um it's pretty smick in uh Hot D here I think it's looking pretty good it's like a compromise between the different versions and the show and the books which reflects the cannon of Hot D in general Hot D in general is um sort of a weird combination of book law and Game of Thrones law because the Game of Thrones show like goes against the books in some ways and Hot D tries to sort of take the best bits from both and smush them together which I think mostly works but we finally see Lady Jane Aaron uh who's played by Amanda Collen who uh was in the TV show Raised by Wolves alongside abubacar Salim who now plays Allen uh we made an Al shift x video about Raised by Wolves and then HBO deleted Raised by Wolves o we also made all those videos about Westworld and then HBO deleted Westworld off HBO every time Al shift X makes a video about something HBO deletes it it's the goddamn Touch of death we're cursed I swear my goodness anyway this is Lady Jane Aaron she's one of the great Lords of Wester as one of the most powerful people in the realm so you know Jane Aaron rules the veil like craigan rules the North like Grover rules the riverlands Jason rules the westerlands boros Baratheon rules the stormlands Lionel barath lonel Tyrell rules the reach although Lionel is a baby and uh Corin Martell rules Dawn but Dawn is seems to be staying out of this war so far Delton grey Joy rules the iron Islands so yeah Jane is powerful and important and she is an ancestor of sweet Robin Aaron who we see in uh Game of Thrones the uh make the bad man fly that's uh that's sweet Robin so uh house Aon is important and apparently uh Jane has promised 15,000 swords to go and support rir the uh Knights of the veil were pretty handy in the uh Battle of the bastards weren't they remember when that cavalry charge of the Knights of the veil came and saved Jon Snow's ass in the battle of the bastards maybe uh those Knights will help out r ER similarly um so Jane says that she doesn't like feeling powerless she wants to be protected from all these dragons flying around uh and so she wants a dragon of her own cuz the Eerie is said to be impregnable though uh Braun in Game of Thrones said that he could impregnate the uh lady if he had a grappling hook to climb up because the Eerie in the books at least is on this huge mountain called the Giants Lance and you know before you before you can even get to it you've got to get past the bloody gate um the bloody gate is they mentioned that in Game of Thrones as well the bloody gate protects the PA that leads to the Giant's Lance and even once you get past the bloody gate which is n impossible you've got to get up to the Eerie which itself is protected by three further way castles called what is it Stone snow and Sky um and the only way to go up is like on a donkey on this like trail that weaves around up this cliff and it's you've got to like practically climb a mountain to get up here so it's extremely extremely hard to attack by Siege and by by armies but uh it is vulnerable to dragons so in aegon's Conquest viena flew up the Eerie on vagar and easily took over the most impregnable Castle in Westeros so Jane doesn't want that to happen she doesn't want vegar to come knocking she wants dragons to defend her so Rainer sent Raina Taren with with her little kids aegon and Joffrey and viseris uh with their two little dragons tyes and stormcloud uh who we haven't seen on screen yet but cuz they they were in those little dog carriers those little pet carry boxes because txis and stormcloud are very young and very small and so Jane complains that these dragons are useless they're they're still wet from the egg they are even less fearsome than some of her hunting dogs so R kind of did screw over Jane re kind of did almost break the deal I think by giving her these young dragons but Ria points out that the dragons will grow up and so with time they will become good Protectors of the veil but how long will the dragons stay there and I mean the plan I mean Raina told Raina that she wants young aegon and young viseris to go to pentos and presumably the dragon stormcloud will go to pentos along with aegon so it's only going to be one Dragon Tyra axis staying at the veil and um by the way uh aegon and viseris these are the young children of rira and Damon who we have seen briefly a couple of times they are the ones that are at the Eerie along with Raina and also Joffrey little Joffrey valion son of haran and reera is in the Eerie as well so yeah Jane is cross and I think she has good reason to be cross and uh Raina like J says that she doesn't like being powerless so uh raina's issue throughout this whole story has been that uh she doesn't have a dragon all of her family have dragons and so they are all respected but since Raina doesn't have a dragon she often gets ignored she gets put on babysitting Judy she doesn't have the power to help fight for her family in war and it sucks so I wonder if she might get a dragon I mean on Dragon Stone rira and Jace were saying hey we've got to get some Dragon Riders we got to get someone to claim uh bloody veror and Silverwing and sea smoke uh and Rea is a tarian she is the daughter of Deon Taran so Raina has the dragon riding blood so which Dragon might she ride we shall see there's also the possibility that an egg will hatch for her because those four dragon eggs are also with Raina at the eie um so there's a lot of different ways Raina could get a dragon if she gets a dragon at all uh so yeah the Eerie cool sweet what happened next uh and yeah Rainer of course is also dealing with the death of her grandma rise so on Dragon Stone uh rer complains that she has not been uh taught how to wage war it really reminds me of a lot of the same issues that Rainer had in season 1 like in season 1 rira said that you know all she wanted to do was fly around on her dragon and eat and have good times and what she didn't want to do was be a politician and what she didn't want to do was be a mother but because of the viseris choosing her as Heir and because of the political Necessities rera somehow ended up being a politician and that means that she can't just fly around on a dragon eating cake all day anymore she is struggling against uh responsibility and political obligations which she never wanted in the first place but that is the reality that she's in now I um I like how rer is someone who really wants to do the right thing and she wants to uh keep her responsibilities she wants to protect the common people she wants to follow the prophecy she wants to be a good Queen but as it turns out good intentions aren't enough I mean we saw that with aegon a bit like aegon was saying that you know I mean aegon you know is incompetent um but aegon for a hot minute was trying to be a good King King I shouldn't say hot minute that's probably too soon but Aon was trying to be a good king for a minute and he realized oh it's not enough to have good intentions I actually need to have knowledge and experience and rir is realizing the same thing I think rir is more competent than Aon obviously but she still doesn't have a lot of experience and she is in an unprecedented situation there has never been a uh female ruler in a taryan civil war like this there's barely been targaryan Civil War before I mean there was a little uh bit of a scuffle between King Meo the cruel and one of his uh nephews there was a dragon killing a dragon in that circumstance but that's like it so none of this has happened before this is the wild west this is unprecedented so you know there aren't many examples from history for rer to draw from so uh yeah she's uh she's struggling and this is when mazaria suggests Hey what how about a propaganda War how about we send a Linda Massie to go and talk to Diana Diana is the girl who aegon raped last season and Alinda talks to Diana and so I wonder what rumors what whispers are they going to spread are they going to uh tell people that uh aegon is a rapist who raped Diana or is that part of the rumors that they're going to spread what what exactly is the plan here we don't yet know a lot of this stuff isn't in the books I I mean that's true of Hot D in general like most of most of this TV show is not in the books because the book gives only a very uh Spark brief summary of the events it's like a Wikipedia article so the show has to make up almost all of the detail but I think that's true of uh this episode in particular like last episode rook's rest did happen in the books like um you know Sunfire and aegon being wounded uh rise and melis being killed by amond and vagar that's in the books the show added the idea that amond betrayed Aon that's not described in the books but most of most of that sequence was pretty close to the books whereas most of this stuff like you know the the thing about like Damon telling uh the blackwoods to do war crimes against the brackens and the riverlords getting angry about that that's not in the books the books do mention some war crimes by the blackwoods but they don't say that it's like Damon's idea um and yeah Damon's sex dream with his mother was not in the books believe it or not um and I mean Alice Rivers is um like the books say that Alice Rivers didn't seem to interact with Damon and didn't seem to have an influence on donon uh but in the in the show she very much does but it's always that thing of like the history books don't know the details so it's uh it's natural that there's more going on than is described in the books anyway so yeah rira complains that she doesn't know which end of a sword to hold um and that is disadvantaging her in these War councils we also got this scene between rira and Baylor um where Rainier was trying to comfort Baylor over the death of her grandma rise and yeah I like this little story about how the dragon melice did not submit to Damon but uh melice did allow herself to be claimed by Ries which is really interesting that the dragon got to choose who would ride her and uh yeah Damon ended up with Caris instead um and so I think there are it's it's interesting and sad and ominous that rir says to bayor oh I must rely on on you now that rise is gone it's kind of saying that Baylor you are the new rise to me and that's a bit ominous cuz rise just died in fire and in this episode Baylor says oh I'm going to die in fire because I'm a tarian it's very ominous that like Baylor is stepping into the shoes of her dead grandma like is she going to die the same way so we talked about uh Damon's creepy sex stream with his mother Alyssa and we talked about how uh Alice is possibly messing with Damon's head and causing him to have these dreams we got to see uh the scar on Demon's shoulder again during the dream he has this burn or this scar which he got on the stepstones when he got shot with that fire arrow and we hear about how uh Damon has instructed Simon strong to bring Haron Hall up to a state of repair we've seen that Haron Hall is very leaky it's a mess it's mostly abandoned it's full of bat guano and they're trying to clear that out so that Haren Hall can be used to host the armies of the riverlands and Simon Says who's going to pay for this and Damon says don't ask Rainer I will pay for it myself so rer and donon are both giving each other the silent treatment and refusing to cooperate and to talk to each other which is a problem when they are the queen and the King Simon mentions the uh wailing Tower in the books the towers of Haron Hall are named The Wailing Tower the Tower of dread the widows Tower the Tower of ghosts and Kings pire Tower I think it might be called King's py because maybe King Haron was burned there that Tower was his P um so uh so yeah spooky spooky names Haren Hall really is a Halloween haunted house and Simon seems to have a good sense of humor about living in a creepy haunted house um yeah and yeah Damon says that he's going to pay for all for all this I don't know how Damon's going to pay for it like does Damon have a credit card that he can hand to Simon strong does Damon have a horde of treasure somewhere that we don't know about I don't know how this is going to work Damon does not seem very interested in the logistics and the payments and the how to repair things and the logistics which again why does he want to be king if he's not interested in these details he doesn't seem to be very good at King despite the fact that he insists that he must be called King not King consort so again he is more and more flirting with treason he is more and more saying I'm not following queen reer I'm serving myself as my own King so in King's Landing there's a conversation on the green Council to decide who's going to lead them now that aegon is crippled they don't know if Aon Will Survive they don't know if aegon will ever wake up so Allison says I should be the Regent because for years while King viseris was sick Allison and Otto Ruled The Realm Allison has put in all this work for years and years and years since she was Queen as a as a child since viseris married her she's followed all the rules she's listened we've seen Allison give really good political advice I mean remember when Allison was the one who convinced viseris to actually like save Damon on the stepstones Damon might be dead if it wasn't for the advice that Allison gave to viseris Allison has repeatedly said hey like we should care about the common people we should try to guide the realm towards peace Allison has often been the most reasonable person in the room in a lot of these political conversations and she put up with a whole lot of to get here um and she did a lot of the boring work like Damon doesn't seem very interested in logistics but in episode 6 season one like we saw Allison's willingness to deal with the boring to deal with the Sheep folds and so on we've seen Allison putting in the work at small Council and all of that so Allison feels that after all these years after all this experience after all all this work of being the queen surely this is her time when she can finally step up and finally get what she's earned but nope the council is like nope nope we're going to make aim on to the Regent instead because he's a man and he's the air of the throne and we're doing a war so ladies aren't involved it's uh it's the boys time to be in charge and it's the people who are closest to Allison who reject her like Allison basically made Lis and made Kristen like the reason why these men have power is because of her and yet Lara says that no amond not Allison should be Regent Kristen says Ammon not Allison should be Regent so this is like a massive betrayal for Allison she feels super blindsided super gaslit and she has like a panic attack like she sits sits down and she just like disassociates as as there's washes over her it's like well if she if she's not the Regent if her political power isn't respected what is the point of everything Allison went through was it all for nothing if all her experience is is not listened to I mean you could make an argument that Alison doesn't need to be the Regent to have political influence like Allison's Theory what Allison was saying for a while in season 1 was that yeah like we we will guide The Men Who rule you know we will rule from the Shadows like Allison and UT did through sick viseris for years but Kristen and amond don't I mean Amon especially doesn't listen to Allison so she knows that if if Al if Amon is running the show she's not going to have influence so um it sucks a lot and it continues the theme of patriarchy the idea that these men were never going to accept a female ruler and so Allison is facing that in a similar way to how rera is facing that so it's now like okay well what is her life is she even needed here at the red keep anymore we saw in the trailers Allison like walking through the woods and standing by a lake it's like is she going to take up hiking now like if she's not relevant in politics I guess it's time to you know start baking your own bread and doing sidoku it's like what what is the purpose of her life now and so yeah the men the men take over and uh they talk about how the Lannisters are coming from the West so they send some encouragement to Lord Jason and they talk about the riverlands are still a mess and uh they talk about hey we should talk to Oscar Tully because Oscar is the heir to riverrun and uh we saw how Damon rudely rejected Oscar last episode so maybe Oscar will be a manable to talking to the greens uh Shubert in the live chat says that Allison must do nothing yeah I thought it was interesting that uh reera in the black Council like rir asks her black Council what would you have me do and the men don't say anything the men say nothing and that's just like how Allison told Aon to do nothing and so now Allison is in a situation where she must do nothing so it's ironic that you know Allison really hurt Aon by saying you should do nothing but Allison is in the same situation that Aon was in where she is being disrespected and ignored they they all are suffering the same problems but but so many of the characters fail to make that leap of sympathizing with other people and trying to cooperate so uh yeah the uh the men are in charge of the green Council and uh amond is pretty keen on burning people with a with his Dragon so this could very easily lead to more battles more violence more death and it's a problem uh and amond also tells people to cut down the rat catchers that were hanged by Aon it's um I think there a sort of circular logic here with the green Council because they're basically saying that well we can't have a woman as the Regent because people expect a man and the the reason why people expect a man is because there have always been men ruling and the reason why people men have always ruled is because people expect men and the reason why people you know like it's this sort of circular self-perpetuating thing of precedent and of course it relates to the maharin hall Council where you know viseris was chosen as a instead of Reise and that contributed to that precedent that only men rule but you know there have been well have there been female Regents at this point in time I mean Vena ruled on aegon's behalf at various times I don't know if Vena was ever the official Regent but there certainly have been female uh females ruling in the place of the king at various points um so yeah sucks for Allison we then see Hugh the blacksmith and his wife cat who are worried about their sick daughter they're worried that there's no food Hugh still wants to believe that King aegon will keep his promise and will pay Hugh for all the work he's been doing as a blacksmith but that money has not uh appeared cat says that she has family in tumbleton and they should go to tumbleton um tumbleton is in the northern part of the reach tumbleton is over here so quite close to King's Landing this is tumbleton cat is saying we should go there but Hugh is saying we don't know where is safe what are we going to do they do try to escape later but the gates are closed so um what do these common people do when the government fails them and when they don't have food how do they react we talked about this conversation with Kristen and alicent and we talked about how che's dog explores that theme of loyalty and we talked about Kristen's trauma over the war that he's experienced and it seems as though Kristen and Allison's relationship is really suffering we talked about the twins where Jace convinced the phases to let the northern Army pass their bridge in return for the phase getting Haron Hall after the war uh we should talk more about this scene with Alice and Damon it's quite funny that Damon decides that he's going to chop a bunch of wood like there are so many important things that Damon should be doing I mean Damon could be flying around on his Dragon visiting castles convincing Lords to support the blacks Damon could be burning Kristen's Army Damon could be replying to his wife's texts right now it's a big problem that donon is not communicating with reir that's why she sent Alfred broom to go talk to him but Damon's like nope I want to chop some wood you know the uh the the instinct to do manual labor when you're frustrated about so um that's what Damon's doing but he hears this hallucination of screaming which I think represents the atrocities that donon told Willam Blackwood to do in the riverlands so you know Haren hle continues to haunt on with uh things that he should be guilty about and it seems as though Alice may be sending him those uh dreams and Alice says that you could be doing better things than chopping wood right now but you know Damon insists that that's what he should be doing and uh Alice instructs Damon to sit down like a dog sit sit and then he sits so that Damon can uh so that Alice can treat the terrible blisters that Damon has given himself on his hands and I I like the description of how Alice is hearing about uh the Blackwood atrocities in Bracken lands she hears it on The Whispers which I think is similar to how um hears it on the Wind which I think is similar to how the ghost of high heart talks about her visions and Ellis basically says hey maybe you should not kill innocent people maybe you should not do war crimes and Damon is like n it's fine it'll it'll be great I don't I'm not a moral person and I don't care I I think it is kind of interesting that like in the books the old gods are pretty metal the old gods seem to like blood sacrifice um and you would think that the old gods might like the blackwoods because they worship the old gods whereas the braans follow the faith of the seven not the old gods so if the old gods were to take aside in this war you'd think that they would be Pro Blackwood but I mean you know Alice is also uh a person who has a heart and cares about these innocent people who are being slaughtered by The black woods so and it's not entirely clear you know what kind of magic Alice has maybe Alice has her own magic she's not necessarily A worshipper of the old gods or beholden to the old gods so there's lots of sort of ambiguity but Alice is another voice telling Damon hey like maybe don't do these horrible crimes and Damon rejects it Damon has never really cared about anyone who isn't a tarian so Damon says that look I'm not loyal to reain because the realm will never accept reir because she's a woman and I am the true heir of viseris they look to men for strength and so I will take King's Landing and rira can join me if she wants but I will be the ruler so so more and more he is committing treason he is saying that he will rule as King in himself without reain era he is rebelling against his wife and queen uh so we'll see how that turns out out and it's it is funny that you know Damon calls himself vas's first true Heir because before viseris had children Damon was vas's Heir as vas's brother um but once viseris had Rainer and named rer as his Heir Damon was replaced as Heir but also when viseris had his son aegon and Amon and Dron they come before Damon so Damon has no legit claim on the throne but perhaps he intends to just kill aegon and amond and little dayon and uh claim the throne for himself anyway um and yeah Rea May well be blamed for these Blackwood atrocities in the riverlands which is a problem like in the same way that Jar's murder was uh reflecting badly on rer thanks JS who says how much do you think amond was chosen for Regent because snubbing Allison just upsets her but snubbing amond might mean his defection with their most powerful weapon uh yeah I think that's a good point I mean uh part of why the green Council chose amond as Regent might be because amond just like killed rise and Mel and lowkey burned aegon and Sunfire amond is in command of the most powerful weapon of war in this world Vega so they do need to uh be on amon's good side if Amon just declared himself Regent or declared himself King there may not be anyone who can stop him you know I think I mean people certainly are scared of amont and it does make sense to have an official leader who is a scary powerful uh battle commander who has just won a battle like in the logic of Westeros people do respect strength I mean that's why Robert barathan became king in Game of Thrones is because he was a big tough man who won battles so in the logic of Wester I think that makes sense to choose amont so uh we talked about this scene with callus on drift Mark where Kus was mourning his dead wife rise uh it really reminded me of when Lor was standing like standing in the sea gazing at the sea um when his sister Lena died I think Kus is looking similar here but then Kus uh gets brought back to Dragonstone to be handed the queen for rir by B what else haven't we talked about Kus says at one point that he wants to sail into the West which I think is like almost a metaphor for suicide cuz like there is nothing in the west no one knows what's in the western sea there is a character called Alyssa farman who sailed West and at the end of Game of Thrones Aya sails West I think it's a sort of a metaphor like Frodo sailing west to the undying lands at the end of The Lord of the Rings because he can't live in the world anymore after what he's experienced so I think it's it's kind of a self-destructive idea um Kus is feeling close to death now that his whole bloody family has died um so rira sends Alfred to Haren Hall I don't think there's much chance that Damon will listen to Alfred um but that's what rer tells Alfred to do and the message that Rainer leaves is that Raina wants to Contin the conversation that she had with Damon in episode 2 that was when rer told Damon that your heart belongs only to yourself and you just want to use me for the throne so uh all that stuff is still up in the air for Raina demon is trying to sleep and uh I think it's interesting how this shot shows only one of Damon's eyes when last episode we saw Damon in a vision wearing an eye patch covering one of his eyes reminds me of that imagery of amond with his one eye and holding a coin over his one eye lots of oneeyed imagery deepening that symbolic connection between amond and donon so Damon gets woken up at the hour of the wolf in uh the Game of Thrones books there are all these cute terms for the different hours uh at different times of night there's the hour of the wolf and the hour of the bat and the hour hour of the badger or whatever a bunch of different animals uh which is fun and uh Damon is cross that he's been woken up in the night but there's all these riverlords who are angry about the war crimes that Damon told Will and Blackwood to do so it's this wonderful moment of you know Damon walked into this land that he doesn't really understand he doesn't know the culture or the history or the politics of this place but he just sort of ignorantly said you must obey me and I have ultimate power through my dragons and so he expects that everyone will obey him but turns out that the local people don't like being occupied by some foreign power who doesn't understand their world so obviously this has lots of very real parallels in Real History so uh it seems as though Damon's war crimes idea is not paying off may maybe Damon will fail to gather an army of riverlands here River Lords here and yeah he has that vision of Lena again um sort of evoking Damon's guilt for Damon's failure to be a good parent to his children and there there's also a cool mural in the background here showing a bunch of weirwoods at Haron hole which I suppose is a reminder of the weirwoods that Haron the black cut down which seemed to be responsible for the weird old gods magic here but also those could be the weirwoods on the aisle of faces which is just on the lake next to Aon Hall which is very powerful and magical and mysterious so we talked about how uh Mazar convinced reer to send her handmaiden Alinda to uh King's Landing to try and spread some rumas and uh to try and turn the common people against the greens we saw Alinda back in season 1 she was there when rain was uh giving birth to that stillborn baby we saw Alinda doing rainer's hair uh in episode two but now that elinder is gone someone else is doing rainer's hair uh Alinda is the daughter of Lord Gorman Massie he of the lyseni org so uh yeah the massis are one of the families in the crownlands who were supporting rer so Alinda is a trusted person and uh she's sent off to King's Landing and interestingly Alinda is let inside King's Landing uh even though the gates are closed by a gold cloak because Alinda says that she's working for mazaria so it seems that mazaria still uh is uh known among the gold cloaks and is obeyed by the gold cloaks it was mazaria who referred Damon to the gold cloak blood who went and killed jeris so maia's name still carries waight around here she can still get things done I wonder if we should be suspicious of mazaria still cuz mazaria mazaras has her own motives you know she wants to help the common folk she wants to close the child fighting pits she wants to get revenge against the high towers for burning house is she fully loyal to Raina we don't really know what what exactly is the plan here cuz we see Alinda go to Diana Diana is the girl who aegon raped in season 1 and we saw Diana working at a pub with UL a couple of episodes back so what is the plan here with Linda and Diana how is Diana useful to rira and maia's plan to spread rumors against the greens uh I mean I wonder if Diana still has I wonder if Diana has any knowledge of the secret passage in the red keep since Diana worked there many possibilities but they're trying to join in on this uh propaganda War it's funny to me that Alinda wears this conspicuous Red Cloak like if you're on a secret mission that seems like a very um obvious way to walk around but uh that's what she does uh callus decides to accept rainer's offer and become the hand of the queen uh we talked about amond staring at the throne he betrayed his brother King aegon to get the throne from him this is like all those shots of Littlefinger staring at the throne in Game of Thrones and Helena seems to know that amond betrayed uh Aon it's like Amon has has has given up his soul for power you know what what will this guy what won't this guy do after he's betrayed his brother I feel like uh Allison and Kristen like they're always going on about the faith of the seven and Truth and decency to hide their evil acts they wear a cloak of righteousness rir says whereas Amon I feel does the opposite amond at least prior to betraying his brother aegon I feel like amond was wearing a cloak of evil when he was actually not as evil as he claimed to be cuz amond allowed people to believe that he deliberately killed Luke when he actually didn't so I feel like he it's funny that while Allison and Kristen are pretending to be virtuous Amon was pretending to be villainous he had a cloak of villain but now it seems that you know it's it's true now Amon has pretended to be evil for long enough that he is now truly evil after he burned aegon so he uh is very self-consciously playing the role of a villain The Narrative of a villain almost like Tyrion in some of the later books so uh yeah we talked about how Aon uh said Mommy he he's trying to reach out to his mother for support he uh maybe his returned turning to Consciousness maybe aegon will be awake next episode and tragically Allison doesn't hear they fail to love each other as mother and son and we talked about the conversation between reir and Jace where reira was congratulating Jace for getting the Twins and the phas on side but also a bit annoyed that he was doing it without her permission and they talk about how they need dragons to deal with Vaga it is a big problem that the strongest dragon is controlled by amond and the blacks don't currently have a dragon big enough to really go against vagar especially while Caris is gone in Haron Hall so Jay says let's find some people who have taryan blood to claim our unclaimed dragons veror Silver Wing Sea smoke cannibal grey ghost and shape stealer so the question is who has the taryan blood to do this maybe people like UL maybe taryan bastards running around maybe some valion could do it maybe Raina could do it there are many possibilities we also it also gets mentioned that Raina tried to claim a dragon once and she nearly died so I wonder which Dragon Raina tried to claim did she try to claim her uncle Lor's Dragon maybe did she try to claim veror we don't know in the book uh Jace is a bit more um active in the book rir is really is said to be really like uh messed up with grief and so Jace steps up and in the book it's Jace's idea to make callus the hand of the queen and it's Jace's idea to send uh Joffrey to the Eerie and so Jace is a bit more assertive at this point in the books of course in the books it is uh mushroom mushroom the Randy dwarf claims uh that it was his idea to uh get some tarians uh to claim the dragons so if you believe mushroom he was in charge of the whole situation mushroom seems to have been like Rainier's best bud at this point in the books but uh mushroom would say that okay I am now going to respond to as many of your questions as I can uh Jess says the scene with Jason and rera reminded me of when rer came back from Dragonstone and viseris is upset with her yeah yeah that's a that's a nice parallel I agree rer when like Damon had his tantrum on Dragonstone and declared himself the air riro went off to Dragonstone without vas's permission and got some stuff done and viseris was angry at her for that but also a bit impressed so I think yeah it's a similar Dynamic here the same Dynamics pass down Generation by generation kaisar 10001 says what's with all the meat talk this episode yeah UL says that the dead dragon malise is just meat and the common people cry for meat because they're hungry I guess that's uh the thing about violence isn't it it reduces human beings to meat and uh that's disturbing cannibalism is a theme throughout the books um I guess it's you know I mean meat it's about food and it's about violence people need meat to survive but meat is created by killing and it's like that interconnection of sex and violence that we see in the murals and throughout the show um are we people or are we meat do we make each other meet when we commit violence against each other or do we respect each other as people what happened when people are hungry violence happens Nelly says Damon is looking forward to be tripping at night do you think Damon like every time he goes to sleep at Haron Hall he's like what am I going to see this time what the I know that some crazy shit's going to happen there's going to be a goat there's going to be my mother I'm going to see little rira again oh boy maybe that's why he's not sleeping maybe he's a he's scared to dream thank you Jack who says if Aon does recover and wants his throne back do you think amond will just give it up yeah that's a great question I mean in the last episode Damon said to Oscar Tully hey why don't you just put a pillow over the face of your grandfather Lord Grover why don't you kill him so that you can become the Lord maybe amond might do something similar I mean if amond is willing to burn aegon do you think Amon would you know pinch aon's nose shut and suffocate him so so he dies so that Amon becomes king that's what uron does to one of his brothers in the books euron kills one of his brothers who has gray scale euron is not a great guy Jack says how do you think the relationship between Kristen and Allison will change yeah it it really seemed like a rejection when Allison told Kristen you may not speak my name like oh my God like maybe they're going to stop having sex maybe they don't trust each other anymore cuz it really does seem as though Kristen chose amond not Allison to be Regent and you know Amon Christen like protected Amon by saying that oh I don't know what happened to Aon like surely Kristen and his men saw that it was amon's Dragon Vega that burned aegon they must have seen that Kristen saw that amond was approaching aegon with his sword but Kristen protects amond and doesn't tell Allison what really happened so Kristen's covering up the truth thanks for the donation from Mike who says that Damon is on his Captain America routine Jackie says that Tom Glen Cary was great his agonal breathing SL death rattles and hearing him croak out mommy was sad Allison seemed more Disturbed after not getting Regent than seeing him like that yeah well Allison's always had um complicated feelings about aegon she's been disgusted by Egon ever since he assaulted Diana um but yeah I suppose it's true Allison did appear more upset about not being Regent than about aot's condition I mean part of Allison must think that it might be a good thing for aegon to be no longer being the king um but I mean aond could be an even worse King than aegon amond is a murderer and a kinslayer I I I think I think Allison just feels detached you know she feels rejected she feels detached she feels disrespected she feels hourless she's still in grief I mean she's practically still mourning the death of her husband viseris which was you know just weeks ago so it's a good question what will Allison do next maybe she'll take up hiking interesting nerd Club says Damon saying he'll pay for the repairs to Haren Hall reminded me of alisin at the wall I wonder if he'll pay for it out of his own pocket yeah uh at the wall alisin offered to sell her own jewelry so that she could pay for the construction of a Newcastle to repl replace the night for because the night for is spooky I mean hell if you think Haren Hall is spooky you should see the night for um does Damon have some jewelry to sell to pay for the repairs of Haron Hall I don't know how exactly does the uh economics and the payment work um I don't know we shall find out sha says my wife doesn't believe this is live but Gans dragon how did deon's mother die uh this is indeed live Shan how did Damon's mother die so Alysa um was the mother of Damon and viseris and Alyssa had two different colored eyes and Alyssa loved uh riding dragons and loved writing her husband that is canonical and Alysa would take her little kids Damon and viseris on Dragon rides when they were very young so Alyssa was a tomboy she was cool she was fun she was um she was a cool chick and then she died in childbirth complications like Emma like so many others in this story like Lena uh she was birthing a third child and it went badly and Alysa died when Damon was like 3 years old so uh it's real sad thanks for the donation from arter who says giving out dragons to non- tarians is an amazing short-term plan with terrible long-term consequences summary of rira's Life yeah so in this episode Jason rira say yeah we should get some like other people in other families who may have taryan blood to ride dragons it'll be great cuz we need to win this war and you're right that like that might help them win the war but it might have terrible long-term consequences cuz if a malister or AAR is riding a dragon they are powerful and they might deci decide that they want a throne and they might rebel I mean it was wild enough that there are valion with Dragons right like it's kind of crazy that the tarians married rise to Kus so that corus's valerion children Lena and Lor had dragons which means that there's another family out there that has dragons this is why the tarians practice incest is to keep that Dragon riding blood in their family so you're right like it's it's real dangerous to let other people in on the dragon situation so the story May explore that as we go on thanks for the donation from bumper who says will we see a true Redemption Arc for aegon's character or will it be similar to Jaimie Lannister's where his Redemption Arc was a false positive yeah so in the Game of Thrones show Jamie Lannister was uh not great he pushed a child out a window he killed his cousin with The Rock he uh he was he was not a great guy but he faced some of his crimes and he developed a relationship with Brienne and he tried to keep his Oaths and he tried to end the siege of riverrun peacefully and so it seemed as though you know and Jamie chose to come north and to try and stop the white walkers so it seemed as though jimie might be trying to become a better person but ultimately uh Jaimie left Brienne and said I'm a hateful person just like Cersei and then Jamie embraced Cersei and uh was killed by bricks um I I feel like it may be different in the book I think it's possible that jimie um like I don't think jimie will necessarily become a good guy quote unquote but I think that I think it's possible that Jamie will kill Cersei in the books because there's this prophecy about the venqua the little brother choking the life from Cersei so I think there'll be differences in the book but um with your question like will we see a redemp Arc for Aon I mean we don't know if aon's going to survive these Burns but I mean I suppose it's possible to imagine that Aon you know clings to life stays the king and tries to rule wisely maybe he tries to get some good advisers around him maybe he reads some history books maybe he tries to rule well maybe he wins the war and lives happily ever after who knows I think that one important uh point of con contention is uh king aegon's penis because if King aegon is still capable of having children then he can father a son who could be his Heir and then amond would not become the king but if uh aon's penis was burned off in these fires if he's lost control of the lower half of his body I mean there's like internal injuries there's broken bones if his dick doesn't work he's not going to be able to F an air and that has massive political implication ations um so yeah it does it is all in the end as Brun said Thank you dollarus Ted who says is stormcloud the dragon who sir Aran of Penny tree met no that's a different Dragon thank you esterol who says what an odd coincidence that the veil was in major events in Westeros like the conquest or war of five Kings ruled by women yeah in the time of uh aegon Conquest it was sharah Aaron Queen sharah Aaron I believe who uh met with Vena and uh surrendered the veil to Egon the Conqueror thank you and and of course you know that's one of the differences between the Lordships of Westeros can be inherited by women but up until now uh the Iron Throne itself has never been inherited by a woman so it's one of the sort of confusing things about westerosi politics that most Lordships can be inherited by women I mean men still come first in the inheritance but if there's no brother if there's no son then the woman does inherit whereas the throne so far it has been strictly boys only Jin says how many seasons do you think House of the Dragon will have based on the books and whatever content they have left over well Fire and Blood is a uh long ass book um it covers like 40 Years of history or something and so House of the dragon can kind of go for a while it depends on when they want to finish it cuz there are years and years more of history after Hot D in Fire and Blood so they could go on into season five and six and seven if they if they wanted to they could even go beyond Fire and Blood because there's even more uh history written in um in the world of Ice and Fire and other books they've got a lot of flexibility with what they want to do um if they just cover this current War the dance of the Dragons then I could see them finishing it in like four or five seasons I think that Ryan Condell was saying that four or five seasons was the plan at one point they're currently riding season 3 I I will say that I'm a little surprised by how slow paced this season is um I was expecting more to happen more quickly I I think given the current sort of slow pace they um they might need more seasons so yeah I'm not sure what uh the show runers plan is right now but um it could easily go for Five Seasons I think to cover this current War but of course it depends on what they include and there's a lot of things that happen in like different areas of Westeros um like there are a lot of characters doing a lot of things in a lot of places across Westeros and they don't necessarily need to show or include all of them they need to choose which characters to cover and if they keep focusing it mostly on rer and Allison it might not need to include some other events around Westeros so they have a lot of flexibility in how long they could make it depending on what they choose to cover thanks for the donation from rational orc who says if you're the colonel one of the most important jobs is making sure captains learn how to be Colonels and their job is to teach lieutenants how to be captains and so on and so forth yeah I think the greens have really failed to like teach their successes like Otto and Allison really failed to teach aegon and amont and I think viseris really failed to teach rir and I think rir is not doing the best job of teaching Jace so yeah I agree like getting that line of succession getting your your successes prepared is uh important and this family is not doing a great job of doing it thank you Joel who said I wanted to ask which character out of Hot D or Game of Thrones would have had the biggest change on the story if they owned an operational AK-47 I think that if Cersei Lannister like book Cersei Lannister had an AK-47 there there would not be many people left alive in Westeros Cersei Lannister with a cersi lann would be the most willing to use an AK-47 on everyone the there there are few people who Cersei Lannister meets who she does not want to murder so I I think that she would do a lot of damage with an AK-47 um I think other characters would be less willing to use it I think maybe viseris like daus's brother viseris is is also someone who would go on a rampage with an AK-47 um who's the most insane person in Westeros I mean maybe like all right shagwell the fool I think if shagwell the fool had an AK-47 uh Westeros would be a different place tragically they never included shagwell the fool in um in the Game of Thrones TV show what a tragedy they didn't include shagwell the fool and they didn't include Nimble dick crab the cowards d d and d were too cowardly to include Nimble dick crab and shagwell the fool Valkyrie says that Kristen said I left a minor Garrison behind to protect it and the King Dragon I I think Kristen's line was a little was a little bit ambiguous where the Kristen was saying I left some soldiers and I left Sunfire to protect rook's rest or if Kristen said I left some men to protect rook's rest and to protect Sunfire and it was also kind of ambiguous if Sunfire was alive or not I I think it's I think it's kind of weird how oblique they're being about Sunfire but I I don't think it's a spoiler to tell you that at least at this point in the books Sunfire is alive but is very badly wounded and is writhing around in the ashes of rook's rest as though he were playing night crawlers thank you Kuno who says where is Caris Caris at Haron Hall is there a designated Dragon parking for every castle that's a good question where is the Dragon garage I mean there was um discussion of dragon parking when uh Jason Lannister was telling rir hey I could I could build you a great carage cuz uh I've got money so I could build you your very own dragon pit at cly Rock so the logistics of long-term Dragon parking is relevant I mean we see a bit of that uh in the Game of Thrones books with viserion and Regal who uh Daenerys keeps under the Great Pyramid at marine and in the books they talk about how the dragons seem to be like boring their way through the rock a bit if I remember rightly I mean dragons I mean as George Martin was saying in his recent blog post dragons like lurking in layers they're pretty happy to stay in one place usually but um uh the layers can affect their growth apparently like if you put a dragon in a confined space it slows down its growth so it doesn't grow as large so drogon is larger than Regal and viserion in the Game of Thrones books because drogon was not kept Down Under The Pyramid for so long I believe so uh yeah you got to think carefully about where you park your dragon thank you Pepto pistol who says what did you think about seeing Alysa Targaryen I love that we get to see more targaryens but would love to see them in something other than a white wig do you think they'll have a brunette or a blackhaired tuaran well I've got good news for you um because bayor breakspear tug Aran is a cool guy who has brown hair and who we will see in the upcoming night of the Seven Kingdoms uh spin-off TV show that's based on the Duncan egg books and in Duncan egg there are a bunch of Taran characters who do not have white hair because they are the children of uh it's what is it Dron Taran with mirria Martell the taryan marries a Martell with black hair and so there's these different colored tarians running around there's even uh Valor tgar who has uh a cool anime white streak in his hair in his otherwise brown hair and there's also Dron the drunken he's fun he's got brown hair so you know all the people who were like how can Jon Snow be a Taran if he has dark hair there are a bunch of tarians in the books who have dark hair I think that the Alyssa thing is interesting because you know Alysa Damon doesn't know what Alyssa looks like prese presumably I mean Alyssa was like donon was like three when Alyssa died and Alyssa doesn't have her iconic heterochromia her different colored eyes in this dream she seems to have dark eyes as far as I can see so I don't know if this dream of Alysa is meant to be like a quote canonically accurate Alyssa or anything like maybe this is just Damon's dream version of Alyssa I mean he doesn't even seem to recognize that this is his mother Alyssa until at the end of the sex dream so you know I think it's going to be really funny whether um whether the Game of Thrones wiki decides to use an image of this Alyssa in the Alyssa taryan wiki page cuz I don't I'm not so sure if this really is what Alyssa looked like or if it's just a version in Damon's dream you know thank you Johnny Rivers who says Damon seemed less feckless in the book and amond seemed less competent to me yeah there is different characterization I I think that yeah donon does seem to be a bit more of a loose cannon uh in the show compared to the books like some of Damon's uh Reckless activity in the show we don't hear described in the books I would agree with that um amond seemed less competent in the books yeah yeah he does seem like a bit of a dunce at times but I mean they're all going through arcs you know all these characters are changing um so I mean it' be interesting like one of the possible outcomes from Haren Hall is like what if Damon becomes less of a loose cannon because at Haron Hall all of these visions and dreams and the guilt does get to him and maybe Damon will decide to be less of a dick from now on or maybe not maybe amond will um seem competent now but get less competent later I think there's a lot of directions they can take the character growth Astros says that Allison is terrified of amont yeah Allison doesn't seem to understand amond she's scared of amon's murder and betrayals and uh fails to communicate with him hot pies hot pies says it was nice to see rera get a little bit more agency this episode and show a little bit of her desire to be on Dragon back she's been suppressing some of her natural tendencies yeah I mean remember at the end of season 1 when rira like looked into the camera and she was looking angery I mean she was not looking pleased after the uh murder of her son Luke and it sort of looked like rira was going to go like full tug Aran mode on their asses you know like she was looking like Daenerys was looking before Daenerys burn King's Landing it seemed as though riro was going to go burn some folks but this whole season she's been like ah I want to do peace I want to hold back and yeah emaria in interviews has said that rain really is holding back so um will there be a point where rira unleashes her Fury where she unleashes her Dragon what would cause her to do that what if Jace died what if Joffrey died what if Damon openly rebelled against reain what would make rer snap if anything interesting questions thank you John Kelly who says in the moment I got the impression that Damon was only ordering Willam to torture the Bracken Lords themselves maybe that's all he thought he was saying then felt obligated to go along with it kind of like his nephew yeah it is very funny that at the start of this season Damon Taren went up to blood and cheese and he's like I would like you guys to kill amond and then blood and cheese were like what if we can't find Amon and then Damon was like a son for a son Damon gave extremely vague orders and that backfired on him when Jaris was killed by Blood and cheese and rir was really cross about that and now Damon does like almost the same thing he doesn't even wear his murder hoodie this time and he goes up to uh Willam Blackwood and he's like oh I would like you to show them your worst and I want you to persuade them and do things that the crown cannot do he he's extremely vague about what his actual instructions are you would think that Damon would have learned but maybe Damon like Damon just wants some chaotic BS to happen he doesn't he doesn't like I think Damon is totally cool with the atrocities like when Alice says hey maybe don't do atrocities maybe don't kill innocent people and Damon's like I don't care I'm not an upright man I I'm all for murdering children so I think that's Damon's bag he's he's just happy to do crazy right now and if he it it remains to be seen whether he will ever start to think about the moral consequences of killing innocent people and the consequences of politically harming his Queen reer Kristen Cole's skin routine says I like how they added the unreliable narrator aspect of the book to this episode Cole covers for amond and causes the small Council to put a kinslayer on the throne I wonder what aegon has to say if he wakes yeah that's a good question like if aegon wakes up will he remember oh my brother amond burned me with his Dragon deliberately he did treason amond should be executed for treason that is something that might happen that would be interesting and yeah they also have like the whole sort of mystery of people not quite being sure what happened at rook's rest I agree it feeds into the unreliable narrator thing in the book in the book there's always it's always saying like oh well we don't know exactly what happened to Lyman bees briy mushroom says that he got thrown out a window but other people say that he just got jailed it is part of the book that no one is entirely sure what happened there all these um conflicting accounts thank you cop Brock who says does Alice Rivers have a connection to the White Walkers perhaps her knowledge of the old gods also ties in with the prophecy of Fire and Ice while she is trying to sew Discord among the tarians yeah that's a fun idea maybe the old gods in the weirwood trees don't like the tarians with their fiery dragons trees don't like fire surely so uh yeah maybe she's trying to work for the old gods to bring down the tarians to save the old gods I mean maybe in the books at least the white walkers were apparently created by the magic of the children of the forest and the old gods like the white walkers are part of old God's magic in some sense I get the sense in the books that the white walkers were like part of the old gods who sort of went arai and some human like the knights king or something did some messed up deal with the devil that created the white walkers like there's this idea that you know the knights King the Starks are the product of like interbreeding between humans and white walkers or something and the Bloodstone Emperor sacrificed uh the amethyst empress and maybe that the white walkers I think that like a combination of humans meddling with old God's magic is what created the white walkers is what I think is along the lines of the truth in the books um and maybe Alice Rivers is is in some sense connected to that I mean the children of the forest are still around they are those uh th those hippies who live in the cave with blood Raven um and they created the white walkers in the TV show and in the books a lot of people suspect that they might be up to something they might be trying to exploit Brown they might be trying to wipe out the humans they might be trying to feed everybody to the old gods hive mind lots of cookie theories and you know if Alice is a green Seer if she's connected to the old gods she might be a part of that agenda there are even theories that Alice might be a child of the forest in a magical disguise because this child of the forest Leaf she says that she walked among the humans for years presumably in a disguise uh so maybe you know Leaf is hundreds of years old so maybe Ellice is leaf that's a very crazy Theory but it might be cool simrick says uh a spoiler we're not going to spoil anything um but yes it is uh it's reasonable to speculate that if Jay and rira are looking for people to um ride a dragon then UL uh might be a good candidate because UL claims to be the bastard son of Balon Taran Nelly says that Cole most definitely regrets being hand to the king Otto come back it would be very funny if Otto got BR brought back as the hand of the King again because Otto got fired by viseris and then he got brought back as hand of the King by viseris after Lionel strong died and now Otto has been fired by aegon it would be very funny if amond brought Otto back but I mean the sense that we got from utto when he got fired was that he's tired of this he is tired of dealing with these idiots he's tired of them not listening to him he wants to go home to Oldtown so yeah I mean Otto created this mess in a lot of ways Otto is largely responsible for this war because he insisted on crowning aegon despite vas's wishes but um yeah it would be interesting if he returned Jess says maybe amond will father MW on Helena perhaps claiming his brother's queen as his own yeah I I think it's plausible that Amon and Helena amont might want to hook up with Helena I mean I mean Helena is still married to aegon and aegon is still alive but the tarians do have a history of polygamy of having multiple wives so it would not be completely unprecedented for uh Amon to marry hel well it would be the first time that that someone had multiple husbands I think like I'm saying if Helena uh married amond while still being married to Aon so she has two husbands at once that's never happened before but if the tarians practice polygamy I don't see why not I mean the faith of the seven don't like that meor the cruel married like six women and everyone was very cross at him about that so yeah all interesting questions maybe amond will marry Sylvie that would be cool Sylvie is the sex worker who Amon hangs out with at that brothel wouldn't it be interesting if he married her most people would see uh Sylvia as being far far too lowborn to marry a prince and a dragon rider but hey maybe Amon to get gets what he wants now that he's got a dragon Nate says so are we going to ignore that Condell said that the small folk love melis did that Dragon not a month ago kill hundreds in the dragon pit I have not seen condol saying that but uh yeah I would have thought the small folk would be not fans of meles thank you Joey thank you Ryan who says is Alice a ghost Simon never acknowledges her presence when she's in the room and her Origins are clear does she only appear to some people yeah do you think Alice is like Tyler Duran do you think Alice only exists in Demon's head we do we do see Simon look at Alice in like this shot here like Simon is looking right at Alice you know what would be funny you know what I would love is if Alice turns out to be the goat like like from Simon's perspective right now he's looking at the goat but Damon think that the goat is Alice like it's like it's a magical goat or whatever it's just a it's a goat ghost and every time Alice is talking to Damon Damon is actually just like talking to this goat and we get a bunch of flashbacks showing that every Alice scene was actually a goat scene that would be funny uh but no I don't think that's going to happen um because Alice is like a character in the books and Alice you know Alice is apparently the maester or like playing the role of the maester here at Haren Hall so so I don't think she's a ghost but I mean the idea of a ghost in Haren Hall is is in the books I mean remember Jack and Hagar plays the role of a ghost in Haron Hall in Game of Thrones season 2 this idea that Haren Hall is haunted is um haunted by mysterious magical people is definitely in the story thank you Luciano who says is it possible that with tarian blood thinning over many generations due to marrying other houses that that would lead to The Disappearance of the dragons not enough pure dragon Riders to bond with yeah I mean rera says this episode that the blood will be thin in anyone who is who has been intermarried with tarians so yeah the the rules are very unclear on exactly like how much tarien blood you need I mean people have done the math people have done the incest math and as it turns out people like Daenerys targaryan um they have a lot of non-aryan blood in them like Jon Snow as well because later later further down the family tree the tarians inter marry with Danes and with blackwoods and with um various other families so there's a lot of non-aryan blood in them and so depending on how you do the punet squares You could argue that Daenerys Daenerys Taran herself doesn't have all that much tarian blood so how much do you need you know um at least for recent times you'll notice that this is a uh this is a pretty pretty narrow tree uh cuz Aon married his Sister Wives anise married a valion in the books I believe uh Jaris and alisin married sibling to Sibling Balon and Alysa married sibling to Sibling uh viseris uh married an Aaron and a high tower so you know they have less taryan blood but I mean it there's the incest is pretty strong with these guys it's it's mostly taryan blood so um there aren't there aren't all that many people who the tarians have intermarried with and produced children with who um are still alive who aren't tarians at this point in the story so it shall be interesting to see who rides these dragons huh thank you Jess who says seeing Allison tenderly touch Aon after every other touch she's given him be so rough was heartbreaking yeah yeah Allison actually seems to like touch aegon's body in a loving way this episode which is new because many other times Allison has hit Aon and been a lot less tender to aegon so it's tragic that like the first time we see Allison touch aegon lovingly it's when he is uh a crispy crispy um uh piece of crispy pork and uh he's half conscious so they struggle to love each other I agree default it's pretty crazy that this is how a a Taran was introduced athletic says are we expecting the phrase to betray Rea yeah well we will remember that when Rob Stark made a deal with the phrase to cross his Bridge from the north Walder did a little thing called the Red Wedding which was uh not great for the Starks so uh when Jace makes a deal with the phrase I think it's reasonable to wonder huh are they going to keep their promise or are they going to dick over the tarians all good questions uh uh young will says I thought Elizabeth Olsen was supposed to join the cast as a red Priestess I don't know there are certainly lots of rumors about casting floating around that are sometimes untrue thank you red Olympus who says another lemong gate reference thank you Marissa who says Allison's worst fears have come true she has no real power and has only made a window in her cell yep yeah that's what Rainey said last season that Allison is is delusional if she thinks she's going to get any real power and the men will never accept her so turns out rainy was right so how can Allison have influence rer is trying to have influence in other ways through like propaganda and dragon writing does Allison have any of that available to her thank you athletic sloth and thank you will Dudley who says did rer and jera hint that you don't really need taryan blood to become a dragon rider Jason rer believe that you do need taryan blood to be a dragon rider and so far in the story that seems to be true like Lor valion and Lena valion are valaran who rode dragons because their mother was rain's Targaryen uh at this point in the story there's never been a non uh a person who red a dragon who doesn't have tarian blood but yeah it is mysterious and we will um explore that retired says has Amon crossed over into becoming a villain without Nuance or Shades of Gray I that's a good question because like amond is not showing any like guilt or remorse right now for you know burning his brother and killing rise and doing all that messed up stuff so like is there any good in him left at all or is he just power hungry murderer I think I I maybe there will be another scene with Sylvie because previously we've seen amond acting tough but then telling Sylvie oh I actually feel really bad about killing Luke um so I wonder if we might get a scene with Sylvia where Amon discusses how he really feels about Aon thank you team black plus amond who says we've had peace in our lifetime and then yeah you've seen no more battle than I have yeah rira kind of roasted the black Council by saying that the fact that they're men doesn't mean they know anything more about war than rira does because there hasn't been much war in recent history thank you men with Hill who says in season 1 viseris Muses that he wishes he had been tested but he had the wisdom to not impulsively go out and seek it yeah if only if only aegon and Amon and and Jason Luke were as uh avoidant and apathetic as viseris then they might not be so eager to start a war like viseris was kind of a fool for being so like conflict avoidant and that did partly cause this war but if it would it's it's a good thing to avoid Wars and part of the problem right now is that so many young men want war and want violence so I mean like Otto says like we are the poorer for not having viseris anymore viseris had many many flaws but being warlike and impulsive was not one of them thanks Joseph who says are we building up to a serious oneone talk between Allison and amond just like between rira and Damon yeah I mean the relationship between and amond is very troubled and it's an important relationship because he is the prince and the Regent and the air of the throne and her son they need to fix that relationship right will they thank you Hannah who says I haven't heard anyone mention that Alice has a Scottish accent and the only other people in TV Westeros with similar accents are wildlings Alice equals wildling maybe the wildlings do seem more connected to the old God than uh many I mean I think like it's the first men who are most connected to the old gods and like the most of the northmen are first men the blackwoods and the strongs are first men um so it's plausible that Alice might share that lineage thank you John who says hello shift hope you are well and staying hydrated thank you John and thank you genitus who says does Damon have romantic feelings for his mother in his weird Visions I feel his deepest desires are being revealed um yeah I mean it was an incest dream for sure uh I'm sure uh Sigman Freud would have a lot to say about it I think that donon uh is desperate for love and he seeks love from his family and I think that it's you know Alysa died when Damon was very young so maybe he has like this desire for maternal love um he has a need for maternal love I mean almost the way that mazaria held Damon in season 1 was almost maternal I mean it's similar to how um amond wants to be held by Sylvie in like a mother like way so I think yeah there's a lot of mummy issues going on with both Damon and amond for sure and of course the tarians are um deeply incestuous and I think like there's a narcissism in it the tarians only want to have sex with people who look like them who share their values and history donon fails to to to find anything lovable in anyone outside of his direct blood relations so there's a sort of a narcissistic incestuous ick thing going on here for sure Professor JCS says Aon has done atrocious things but I have a hard time disliking him when he muttered Mommy I choked up I hope he was aware that Allison was there and being affectionate for him yeah I I think Tom Glen Cary does a great job of playing aegon because aegon is a Monster who raped aana and neglects his bastard children and hanged a 100 innocent men uh but he also shows so much vulnerability and he also occasionally tries to be a good person so I think he manages to be a really interesting character for sure thank you Nelly who says where is the Stark Army at this point uh so the TV show has not uh made it super clear uh but in the books at least the northern Army is gathering at White Harbor and baroon and Winterfell and they're going to head south to help Rainier there's also an Army in the veil gathering at gtown and at the gates of the Moon uh the bloody gate and uh meanwhile Jason Lannister is rallying the westermen uh to attack the riverlands for King aegon and uh there's been some talk about the reach who uh Allison told Otto to make sure that the reach houses support Aon the dornish are staying out of the war there hasn't been much talk of the barans boros Baratheon is siding with the greens but we haven't heard what's going on there and uh meanwhile the crown lands a lot of the crown lands has been stomped by Kristen so remains to be seen what'll happen there but uh Rainer uh instructed her men to reinforce crackclaw point and Maiden pool uh so hopefully Nimble dick crab will be okay thank you young will who says are we going to see that scene from season 1 with Damon singing to the dragons without Riders payoff that was his dad's Dragon right uh veror was the dragon of the Old King jeris and veror is probably the second biggest dragon alive after Vega and so veror would be a very helpful thing to uh have a rider loyal to rira so uh I uh I expect the blacks will investigate that uh thank you Jake who says did you notice in the Alice scene you just mentioned she disappears behind Simon she doesn't exit from either side of him uh did Alice Rivers teleport maybe she turned into an owl and flew away yeah I bet she turned into an owl thank you Jacob who says I'm a show/ shift X watcher exclusively with glidus dragon episodes touched in I would love to know more about people that have been introduced in the show that might claim dragons I know there were two bastards last season well yeah in theory anyone with tarian blood can claim dragons UL the white is uh supposedly a tuaran bastard so maybe he will do it um and otherwise we will have to wait and see cuz I don't want to spoil anything um but yeah glidus and my sworn Nemesis ult shrift X have been uh doing some uh chats about the dragon show uh it's like 58 hours of exclusive Dragon talk that can be watched on nebula at neb. tv/ swiftex if talk including the 22-hour Epic fake Jon Snow video which is it's sort it's almost like an audio commentary of the entirety of Game of Thrones um a lot of evaluation of uh Jon Snow's story in the Game of Thrones show um thank you anyone can claim Dragons Who quotes George Martin's new George Martin blog post uh saying the dragons of Westeros seldom wander far from Dragon Stone elsewise we would have dragons all over the realm and every noble house would have a few yeah I guess that wording sort of implies that anyone can write a dragon but I don't think that that is what George is saying in that post um we we shall see what happens I I will say that like there is reason in the books to question the idea that only tarians can ride dragons um and I think it's also interesting you know George in that blog post talks about the mystery of how the dragon Bond was created and uh I like the idea that Valyrian sorcery some kind of dark magic did it which may have been uh an evil atrocity but we'll see how we go thank you cheddar who says thanks for your content your videos are incredible and I keep going back to them going through all of your Song of Ice and Fire videos again yeah we
