[Music] We're bad. So, we are done with and um as we said, we're going to choose some suras that are quite popular, I would say. And today inshallah we decided to start with okay. And by the way, uh we'll wait actually for more people to uh show up. But since Mab is getting late later and later now, uh from those who are here present now, if you prefer 7:30 starting at 7:30 till put your hand up rather than seven the options because I mean seven is like soon Then like 7 to will be about 2 hours. Yeah. Okay. So, who's with 7:30? Okay. Cool. Here, sisters. Who's with seven? Are you serious? Huh? Okay, let's wait for the maybe we can get some rescue from the other members inshallah as they come around. [Music] [Music] Well, so Fore [Music] [Music] [Music] Yeah, if you can read the translation. of the verses as well. By the Quran full of wisdom, verily you, oh Muhammad, are indeed one of the messengers, and you are on a straight path. This Quran is a revelation sent down by the Almighty, the most merciful, so that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned. Hence, they are unaware. The decree of punishment is inevitable for most of them, for they will never believe. Verily, it is as if we have placed iron collars around their necks, right up to their chins, so that their heads are forced up. We have placed a barrier in front of them and a barrier behind them, blocking their vision so that they cannot see. It is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. You can only warn those who follow the reminder, the Quran, and fear the most gracious unseen. So give them the glad tidings of forgiveness and a generous reward. Verily, it is we who will give it. Verily, it is we who will give life to the dead. We record what they send forth and what they leave behind. And we keep an account of all things in a clear book. Here Allah swears an oath by the Quran full of wisdom meaning that it puts everything in its right place and gives commands and prohibitions for clear reasons in an appropriate context and it describes the reququid of for good or evil as is appropriate in the right context. So its commands and prohibitions and its criminal code which dictates reququid and punishment are based on utmost wisdom. One way in which the wisdom of this Quran is manifested is that it mentions together the ruling and the wisdom behind it. Thus drawing the attention of rational people to the context and the circumstances that led to the determination of their ruling concerning the matter. Okay. So surah is surah Makia was revealed before hijra and um like one of it's one of those surah suras that start with what is called individual letters individual letters so y is two letters yah and yah it's not the name of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam okay people turned it into a name and they started calling their children. Okay. But u and taha as well is just two letters. It's not the name of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Um I think now alhamdulillah this has become more common knowledge. Uh when I was growing up, Taha was known to be the name of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and Yasin was known to be the name of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. But that's actually not true. None of them refers to prophet Muhammad wasallam. None of them is one of his names. Okay. So is two letters and we previously mentioned something about the uh those the letters that come at the beginning of some suras. They have some indication that this Quran is made from uh the Arabic letters just the Arabic letters that you speak. Um and uh the Quran is miraculous using those letters that you are familiar with. So come up with something like this. Uh many scholars said we don't know exactly what's the meaning. Allah did not reveal to us the real meaning of them and the prophetam did not explain them. You will find attempts among some some people to uh to explain those words by means of mage. Okay. So those who have some interest some of those who have interest in and the points of pronunciation or articulation they would say the letters have secrets in the way you know they they cover different mar they cover different points of articulation and they'll start to find some nice combinations but again this is not necessarily the point maybe it might be something on the side but it's not the main point behind these letters. some people who are affected actually by something called Jab. What is Juml? Juml is a practice an ancient practice. It was there in you'll find it in the Chinese culture some of the in pretty much in the old Indian culture and in some African traditions and other philosophers as well had this. So was pretty much universal where each letter is assigned a numerical number. Each letter is assigned a numerical number or numerical value. And then if you have a um if you have a a word or a statement so they would say for example meme it's associated with number with whatever I don't know 30 let's say just randomly 30 and Muhammad. Okay. Meme 30. Ha is 12. So 30 and 12 that that's 42. Uh meme again 30 that's 72. Dal I don't know let's say 40. Okay. So that's 112. So this is why you'll find actually sometimes people will add up the numerical values and it has a number and people hang it on their door or on the on the wall and they consider it to be a sacred number. Now why am I mentioning this? Because recently recently some people have been applying this which has no Islamic foundation by the way. There could be some beautiful enjoyable coincidences of numbers adding up and things matching. There has been in recent years a few Muslim speakers in the Arabic language and the English language. They would study surah is specifically or other suras, right? And they would work out how many times this letter appeared and how many times this letter appeared and they would make some kind of random calculation. Okay? something they picked up, something that seemed to add up to them, no basic rule, okay? And they would say, they actually already said some of them said that will come out in 20 2022 or something like this. They already said that. Uh some of them said um again other things about technology as we know it is going to disappear you know in this year in that year specific year somebody would say the state of such and such right would be destroyed in such such year uh and the would appear in this year the day of judgment is going to be in this specific year none of this has any foundations in Islam Okay, Allah kept this secret and hidden from us and there is wisdom behind it. There's no point wasting your time trying to figure this out because if Allah wanted us to know, he would have told us, right? Why look for something that we don't know what the sources of this calculation, these calculations, we don't know these numerical values. We don't know where they came from. We don't know their sources. So, how would you draw conclusions about the book of of Allah from something that has no foundation? So whenever you hear something like this, I'd recommend don't waste your time with it. Really, there's no real value in that. Okay. What does the surah start? Allah swears an oath by reference to the Quran. So Allah starts by again mentioning the Quran and describing it as alim with. So first Allah swears an oath by the Quran. We know Allahh can swear an oath, you know, by whatever he wants, right? Allah swears an oath by the star or by the uh by the sun. Okay, the night Allah can swear an oath with whatever he wants. But humans humans are not allowed to make an oath or to swear except to Allah. Authentic hadith. Whoever swears by other than Allah then he has committed or okay or so you say say some people say right it's more in the among the Arabs I don't know what other nations like tell me if you have something cultural but okay by the life of your mother by the life of your father Right? Or in other cultures, right? By the prophet. All of this is all of this is all of this. Even thea Even thea, even the prophet, even the prophet, you can't say, you can't say, right? Okay. So, a question. Can you say What must have? What's the must have? Yeah. When you have the Quran in written format, you say must. The most accurate opinion, you can't. You shouldn't be saying. But can you say Quran? Well, Quran, you swear an oath by the Quran. Can you do this? Quran, huh? It's the speech of Allah. Speech of Allah is one of the attributes of Allah subhana wa ta'ala and one of the actions of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. So you can swear by Allah or one of his attributes or one of his actions. You can so you can say by the glory of Allah. Yeah. Right? By the might of Allah. You can say that. No issues. You can say this. Okay? And the Quran, the Quran is an attribute of Allah subhana wa ta'ala is attributed to Allah. It's divine in nature. So you can say Quran no issues. But the musf is the is the paper and the parchments. So that's why it's better to avoid but say correct. So any kind is there any kind of cultural kind of other Yeah. In other cultures what is it? I don't know if it's all right but in Saudi a lot of people say by the lord of the is there anything wrong with this? No because it's again swearing an oath by Allahh. What else? other cultures some people say that's because it's Persian right which supposed to refer to Allah subhana wa ta'ala right but no but swearing an oath so it's only an Arab problem swearing by someone's life and their mother's life and their father's life and their their aunt's life etc. Yeah. By the Lord of the prophet still swearing an oath by Allah. No issues. Anything else? I saw some hands up. What about Yeah. Any any names of Allah, the attributes of Allah? No issues inshallah. Okay. So Allah subhana t starts by swearing an oath by the Quran Quran. Allah describes the Quran as what does mean comes from hikma. It's good to understand the linguistic origin of this. Hikma comes from the root h three letters. Hak has many meanings or a few meanings the most common meaning is strength. So for example if there is a very solid structure the most common Arabic description of this from Allah says about the Quran His verses were very nicely like very tightly net. They're perfect. You cannot you cannot mess with them. They're very solid. Okay. U they would say lock the door strongly, properly as a verb. Okay? So, tighten it. Uh you know sometimes some animals they have this ring nose ring especially like bull a bull they would place a ring. Now humans do it. It was an animal thing. It was an animal thing. You know those I don't know they still have them in the cartoons. You know the the the nose of the bull they would have a ringierce right? Yeah. They would pierce the the the pierce the nose and they would have a ring there. Right. Why? Because they would actually tie the bull because that's the best way to control it by means of this ring. Uh so this is called alak. This is called in the Arabic language. Why? Because it controls the bull this huge massive bull can be controlled by means of this. Okay. So this is where strength and this is the me the meaning of the name of Allah alhim. Alhim means means the almighty the powerful alim. Okay that's the name of Allah alhim. Another meaning of ha the root is what is wisdom. Again wisdom is an English translation. So it comes with some issues. But wisdom in the Arabic language is to put everything in its appro most appropriate place. Put everything where it truly belongs. So you are doing a perfect job. It has the meaning of strength in the sense when you do things right they are strong. So it's usually translated as wisdom, reason, good judgment. Alikma again is to go give everything its due right um to the right extent at the right time. Everything is just right. Everything, every measure about this situation is just perfectly right. That's what hikma is. This is what hikma is. Okay. So Allah as he describes in Quran, it's very strong. You cannot first argue against it. You cannot truly find faults in it. It's very solid and powerful. Right? You can't mess with it. And also it has wisdom in it in the sense and this is what imi here he was explaining uh he says Allah would put the command where it belongs and the prohibition where it belongs. So the commands and prohibitions of Allahhana tala that are in the Quran and obviously in the sun of the prophet wasallam are perfect. They are put in the right place. There is nothing random. Allah doesn't prohibit things randomly and Allah does not place commands or obligations on people randomly. know this wall. If you know this, it will help it would help your relationship with Allahh. Greatly. Many people think, oh, you know, the the theam and the obligations there are for compliance. This element is there, but it does not cancel the fact that Allah does not obligate or prohibit or even make permissible randomly. Allah Allah only commands or makes an obligation those things that are very necessary for your well-being for the well-being of your heart for your making it for your salvation on the day of judgment and things like that and things all of the things that Allah commands you they are actually they work in your favor. the things that Allah made less obligatory in the sense there might be an obligation but not up to the same level as the highest obligations or something that is recommended. These are not random as well. These are beneficial things but they are not as beneficial as the obligatory things and Allah knows that giving you too many obligations would overburden you. So Allah lessened the burden. He made them either an obligation sometimes and he made them re made others recommendation. So it's an open it's an open like plane for you. You want to do more good here you go but I'm not going to make it an obligation upon you because it would be too much although they are good and you need them but I leave this to your own discretion. Then the things that Allah made haram these are things that can actually become good and become evil depending on how you use them. That's why Allah made them haram. They by themselves are not are harmless. But don't be deceived by that because how you use them in life, the context in which you use them, the extent to which you use them, uh the extent to which you indulge in them, a halal could destroy your life could could destroy your heart as well. So halal doesn't mean it's an open permission. You can do as as much as you want. No, originally it is permissible. It means it's harmless. But now how you use it, when you use it, to what extent you use it, how much how attached you get to it, all of these are things to take into consideration that could change that quality. Then the things that are things that are disliked, discouraged in Islam, it's better that you don't do these things. Why? Because there is a level of harm in those things, but it's not detrimental. The more you come close to haram now these things are very destructive. The damage they cause in you in your heart they cause in your life different aspects of your life and shortterm long term is huge and that's why Allah made them halah this is why you'll find many scholars like pretty much almost every scholar of they would say you would find the word obligatory is synonymous with good and the word halal is al also synonymous with okay like neutral And the word haram is synonymous with harmful. Harmful. So the commands of Allah are not random. They're not random. The instructions of Allahh are very very practical and they come from the knowledge the deep knowledge of Allah subhana wa tala. So he says the commands, the prohibitions in the Quran, all of them are in the right place and to the right extent and they even were revealed at the right time when Allahh prohibited alcohol. Allah knows when because the Arabs inah they were ext like they were very dependent on alcohol. Almost everyone drank many times every day. It was an essential like staple part of their life. daily life and uh they grew attached to it. A lot of their norms you know revolve around it. So Allah knows human nature and Allah wants to take them or Allah wants to wean them off alcohol slowly bit by bit and that's why he did not make it prohibited for them from the get-go as mentioned. If Allah were to make or if Allah had made if Allah made haram made alcohol haram from the beginning they wouldn't have believed. many people wouldn't have believed but Allah subhana wa ta'ala started you know building their faith and their iman and then eventually Allah subhana wa ta'ala uh told them about to avoid alcohol to avoid alcohol um don't approach the prayer without when you are intoxicated and that meant you know you you couldn't drink pretty much during the day you could maybe drink after isa because that's you have enough time to become sober afterwards but during the day very difficult. So they started again consuming alcohol less and so on and so forth until it got to the point where Allah made it haram for them and they were prepared for that. So that's also hikma that's hikma doing things right and doing things wisely. Uh, Allah also rewards those who do good and Allah punishes those who do evil. That's putting everything where it truly belongs in the right place. Yeah. So he says, yeah, the rulings are all the rulings of the Quran are just perfect. Everything is in its right is in its right place. One of the beautiful things you will find saying very often he says sometimes people say so Allah guides whoever he wills and he misguides or he let he leaves others to go astray. Why? So why why does Allah guides certain hearts and he doesn't guide other hearts. So responds to this and he says Allah puts eman in the place that deserves it in the heart that deserves it. And Allah allows disbelief to be in the place that deserves it. What is the secret of that? Allah kept it to himself. Knowing that Allah only puts guidance where it truly belongs. In a heart where it belongs. And Allah puts mis misguidance in a heart that truly where it truly belongs. Allah doesn't do injustice. Somebody might say, but you know that seems random. It's not random. Allah knows about this heart what we don't know. And it would be it won't like it won't be befitting of divine wisdom to put misguidance where guidance is due or to put guidance where mis in a place that is not receptive to guidance a place that is not suitable for guidance that would be that's that would be an act of foolishness that is done by people who don't by even humans who don't use their mind. So Allahh knows where to put guidance. Let's continue. Foreham. Sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Muhammad wasallam. Okay. Foreign Verily you, oh Muhammad, are indeed one of the messengers. This is the fact concerning which the oath is sworn namely the message of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. In other words, you oh Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam are one of the messengers. So you are not without precedent. You are not without precedent among the messengers. Moreover, you have brought the me same message as the other messengers brought in terms of basic religious principles. Furthermore, anyone who reflects upon the character and description of the messengers and understands the difference between them and others will realize that you are one of the best of messengers because of the pro perfect qualities and virtuous characteristics that you possess. The connection between the object by which the oath is sworn namely the Quran full of wisdom and the thing that is confirmed by the oath namely the message of the messenger Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam is not hidden. If there was nothing to confirm his message and no witness to testify to it except this Quran full of wisdom that would have been sufficient evidence and testimony to the validity of the message of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Indeed the holy Quran is the strongest evidence and that has remained down throughout the ages of the truth of the message of the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam. All the evidence of the Quran is evidence that supports the message of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Then Allah tells us of the greatest characteristic of the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam which supports his message namely the fact that he is on a straight path, a moderate path that leads to Allah and to his paradise. That straight path includes deeds which are righteous deeds that rectify one's condition both spiritually and physically and lead to the best outcome in this world and the hereafter and virtuous characteristics that purify one's soul and bring reward. This is the straight path which is the description of the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam and of the religion that he brought. So reflect upon the majestic nature of this noble Quran and how it combines swearing by the most honorable of things to confirm the most honorable thing to which one may swear, namely the truth of the prophet's message. Allah's words alone are sufficient. But he established clear proof and definitive evidence in this context in order to prove the soundness of the thing he swore this oath to confirm namely the truth of the message of the of his messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam. This straight this straight path is a revelation sent down by the almighty the most merciful. The book was revealed to describe and call people to the straight path and was revealed to show the way by which his slaves may reach him. So he protected it by his might from change and alteration and by means of it he granted mercy to his slaves that would stay with them until it brings them to the realm of his mercy namely paradise. Hence the verse ends with these two divine names. The Almighty the most merciful. Cool. Did you understand anything? It's tough. Even in Arabic, it's a little tough. So, uh, okay. Before this, who has ever heard something about surasin? Since now a good number of you is here. So, let's bring that thing. Who reads surasin to get rich? Who here reads surin for wealth? Right? Who had stories of people reading to get wealth? Who had stories? Real stories. Real stories, right? Okay. There's nothing authentic from the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam about the virtues of nothing authentic. Okay? nothing authentic. Um, and there's nothing authentic about being called the heart of the Quran. Again, these are very common kind of information. So, does that mean sur has no merits? It doesn't have anything special. We don't we don't seem to have any uh textual evidence that it has something specific. All of the Quran is is is is blessed and a source of blessing. But is there anything specific like for example um the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam mentioned merits about the last two verses of Bakarman and other suras that they have their merits. So we don't have anything specific about that is authentic. Cool. Does this mean there's nothing special about surahin? The you will find actually scholars mention surahin with great with um I don't know they would give it a very special place. That would give it a very special place and um experientially this surah is extremely powerful is extremely powerful. By the way the verses about reading surah on the dying people as the person is dying or after they die or on their grave on their grave is not authentic. Is not authentic. You guys, by the way, alhamdulillah, you're enjoying a time when these a lot these things these things in the past were very common. You're enjoying a time when these things many battles were fought for these misconceptions to be cleared. So you guys are enjoying the aftermath of this, which is actually the benefits of this. But I remember growing as a child, this was like if you just said anything about surah was not authentic, you'll be kicked out of the masjid. you'll be chased out literally. So, and people would read it on the person as they are dying on the person after they're dead on their grave and they would write surah on their grave and things like that. None of this is is authentic, but the scholars would mention a lot about surahin that they would read it and if you read it, Suryasin is very special. It tastes different. It hits your heart different and it has an impact. It has an impact and I I personally have witnessed and I have seen and I've heard firsthand many stories about things that are truly amazing. Surahin is very powerful when it comes to is strongly present in surah in surah. So this is a very powerful thing as well and al also the mission of the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam and other messengers is the the messenger ship if you like is very powerful. It's present in the surah. So there is something special about it. I know people who would treat themselves with surasin from physical illness and it worked serious illnesses and it worked. People treat people use use it for to be and it's they say it's among the most powerful uh suras and verses that they use. People use it people who whose whose children have anxiety and they cry most of the night. Nothing managed to treat this but listening to making making their kid listen to surah before they go to sleep. Uh and other other things I and I know some people who read surah to get rich and they got rich. Now I'm not saying you're going to get rich because I know people who read surah for 20 years and they're still poor. So what's the secret? Secret is something else. It's not necessarily the surah itself, but the surah has a lot of merits. It's a very powerful surah, right? Allah was asked, listen to this. We're not supposed to make dua around graves, right? Especially those like righteous people and things like that. You're not supposed to do this. Um but again some people they go to the graves of some righteous people from the past call them peers whatever uh and they say there is baraka when you make dua there so was asked he said there are people who go and do this kind of dua near these mosiums and they get their dua answered how come isn't that a a proof that what they're doing is good or is right he says No, he says the dua, the secret to the dua is how much you trust Allah and how bad you want it from Allah and how much you humble yourself. He says there is he says the secret to the answered dua is in when your heart breaks before Allah a heartbrokenness before Allah complete you're nothing and Allah is everything that's when dua is answered so he says this is so powerful that even these people it happens that they asked Allah subhana wa ta'ala near these mosiums and Allah answered them because of the brokenness of their heart despite the sin that they are doing and then they associated it with this. So the dua is answered because of your brokenness before Allahhana tala. Now what I so my conclusion was those who read surah they read it with a conviction and this hope in Allah subhana wa ta'ala and trust in Allah and they made the dua to become rich and Allah gave them that. The other ones I don't know what what was going on in their hearts. They read but they didn't become rich. Cool. So that's why so so again there are other things. The thing is you are in a in a medium where there are many factors. So so you can't if something happens happens once twice many times you still cannot be sure that this causality comes specifically from this agent. Right? There could be many other factors as well. So in science those who do research they know this very well that you can't arrive at conclusions early you have to have a they call it controlled environment right you have to control for all the other variables keep them stable and have one variable and then you can tell if things change with changing this variable yes we might be getting close to causality here other than that now we speaking science but generally speaking with the surin there's not there's nothing authentic but The surah yet is very special and it has a big impact on the heart. It has a it has a calming impact on the heart. Subhan Allah. From experience. So that's it about surah. What was Imi talking about here in this passage which is not easy. He was saying Allah mentions three things. He says Allah swears an oath by the Quran the wise Quran that's full of wisdom. Um he's talking to prophet Muhammad wasallam you are from among the messengers you are a messenger of Allah so the Quran and the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam upon the Quran gives this and you are upon this. So we have three things. The Quran, the message is the message of the Quran. The Quran is the vehicle or the conduit that brings the and expl conveys it to us. Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam is the man to whom the Quran was sent. Must was given. He embodied it and he invited us to it. So this is the three level or the three components he was talking about here. He said Allah in this oath combined these great powerful three things the Quran the messenger and the message and the message. Then he says they were revealed by sorry if you see here translates it as strength not wisdom. This is why he says, "Oh, sorry. Oh, yeah. It's anyways. I thought it was but it's so referring here to the power and might of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala." So, pretty much that's it. Pretty much that's it about this. But now he's go is going to make a point and this is a a good point inshallah that we should learn. forch. forch. forchech. Fore. Okay. Now let me stop here. Having sworn to the truth of his message and established proof for it, Allah subhana t now speaks of the great need for it and the necessity thereof so that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned. Hence they are unaware. They had remained without any scriptures and had received no messengers. They had been overwhelmed by ignorance and were submerged in misguidance. And they had become a laughingstock to all other people because of their foolishness. So Allah sent to them a messenger from among themselves to purify them and to teach them the book and wisdom. Although before that they had clear they had been clearly misguided. He came to warn the unlettered Arabs and all other all other unlettered nations and to remind the people of the book of what they had of previous scriptures. It is a blessing that Allah bestowed upon the Arabs in particular and upon others in general. But after you, oh Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam warned these people among whom you were sent, they divided into two categories. The first of which rejected the message he he brought and did not pay heed to the warning. They are the ones of whom Allah says the decree of punishment is inevitable for most of them for they will never believe. That is the divine decree which is inevitable dictates that they will persist in their disbelief and ascription of partners to Allah. The decree only became inevitable concerning them after the truth was presented to them but they rejected it. Then they were punished by the sealing of their hearts. Then Allah mentions the impediments that prevented faith from reaching their hearts. Verily, it is as if we have placed iron collars around their necks. And these iron collars that are around their necks are immense, reaching up to their chins and pushing their heads upward so that their heads are forced up and they cannot lower them. We have placed a barrier in front of them and a barrier behind them. That is a barrier that prevents them from believing, blocking their visions so that they cannot see because they have been overwhelmed by ignorance and doom on all sides. So that so the warning is of no avail for them. It is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them. They will not believe. How can a person believe when his heart has been sealed up and sees truth as false and falsehood as true? Okay. So one thing from the previous set of verses Allahh says and I think when we spoke about fat we did actually elaborate on this enough but it's been about two years two years since we spoke about fat do you remember what we said about because this is important so I I want to bring it again is the path okay is the path and in the Arabic language comes from the root. The original word is or sorry originally. So some Arabs turned it into and some turned it into what? This is why some of the Qurat would pronounce it. Those are all uh official languages like or pronunciation of the Arabic language. But the original root is which is the path but means to move through something with ease. So this is why actually means to swallow something with ease. They still use it today. Some Arab countries they say which is swallowed something so quickly. Okay. So that's one uh that's the point the path to Allah must is often translated as what? Straight right but comes from the root. Who can guess this? We spoke about this many times. So if anyone has good memory what is the root? What what are the three letters that really capture must the the root of the word al-im? Anyone can think of anything. No one. Huh? Huh? Somebody says like what's Yes. This is where comes from is okay which is which means to stand up as well to get established to have some the day of judgment is because it's going to be established it cannot be undone comes from so theatim first is very well established. It's very well established and it establishes you. It establishes your life. It makes it firm. It makes it balanced. It makes it healthy. It makes it fruitful. Away from this path, you are lost. You cannot live a good life without the path of Allah. Impossible. It's impossible. Allah says, "Whoever turns away from my guidance, then they they're going to have a miserable life." Allah says this. So what about all these happy people who don't know about Allah? They're not happy. They're not happy. They are not. They're just showing you that they are happy, but they are really not happy. So what about those who actually seem to be enjoying their lives? Scholars also answered this. One of them was and he says the reason people who don't worship Allah or people who don't obey Allah seem to be happy and they might they think they genuinely think they are happy uh these people are intoxicated. They're intoxicated with the and they are in so they are in a trance. They are in a trance. The moment the trance is lifted, they wake up to the pain that their hearts are experiencing and they will live in it forever and it's going to be miserable for them. So they are just in a trance. But most people most people who don't worship Allah or don't obey Allahh they live in pain. But you know what? We have disconnected them. We call it what? Childhood trauma. We call it we call they call it what uh they have names. They have technical names for it. I don't want to get myself in trouble by mentioning some technical names but they'll tell you yeah you have uh ABCD, right? That's your condition. uh or uh they went through like a divorce and thus life was destroyed or they've been through this then most of these most of these are most of these cases are a misdiagnosis most of these issues are the pain of life the pain of being away from Allah subhana wa ta'ala the pain of not being obedient to Allah subhana wa ta'ala but we just find some comfortable circumstances to blame them for what we In reality, the ultimate pain is pain. By the way, every pain from life is bearable. Allah made it this way. Every pain that comes from life is bearable. Is bearable. Humans can handle it. The only pain humans cannot handle is when the heart is deprived of Allah. Humans can't handle this. So when they experience the pain, okay, they they what do they do? They exercise false attribution. They attribute it to what? Again, my family is is is uh it's not a good family. My father is I don't know abusive. My mother is emotionally distant. Uh my siblings, uh my peers and this all of these are problems of life and they don't destroy, they don't break your back. None of them breaks your back. The reality is there is something boiling inside the pain of your heart, but you you can't you don't understand why. You don't really have a good theory of it. So whenever anything comes up that is a source of pain, you're just going to blame the whole thing on it. That's what happens. That's what happens. And this is why a lot of these kind of therapies as you indulge in them for years and years and years, what's the benefit? Minimal. Minimal. You start taking drugs, what happens to you? You become addicted to those drugs. You become dependent on them. Your body starts to act weird. You get numb fingertips and extremities and you start putting on weight. You start having sleeping issues, hormonal issues. Everything goes off balance in your body. Yeah, we're messing around with ourselves. So, It makes you stand up. It makes everything straight in your life. Without it, you can't stand up straight. Without it, you can't your life won't go right. It won't go right. You like it, you don't like it. This is an independent fact. That's what that's the reality of this life. So when Allah says, that's a promise from Allahhana. Whoever turns away from my from my remembrance then he's going to have a miserable life. So some people again you find that they they are happy they are intoxic intoxicated but only for a period of time. They all have their own trauma. They all have their own past that they're struggling with. They all have their own um what is it therapists that they go to for differenta different times different occasions different feelings. Yeah people have different therapists. When I feel this way, I go to this therapist. When I feel that way, I go to that therapist. Right? It's just again it's it's a it's a neverending ch pursuit of of of happiness and you won't find it. You won't find it. Happiness is a function of your heart and it's a it's a it's an outcome or it's a it is a byproduct of doing or using your heart for what it was created for. This is the meaning of by the way not only the straight path that's what the Quran comes with. So the can the Quran solve your problems? Absolutely. Nothing solves your problems but the Quran. But we we don't we deal with the Quran at a very superficial level. We don't don't take it seriously. We think oh I can maybe memorize it. I can read it sometimes. I can learn the intellectually a little bit but it has nothing to do with my life. If if the Quran does is not the main uh life planning tool for you, if it does not really set your values in life, if it doesn't tell you who you are and what you are and what you're doing in this world, and if you're not setting your priorities in life based on the Quran, then you are you are doing Quran. You are neglectful of the Quran. You are neglectful of the Quran. You might be reading it, but you are neglectful of the Quran. So this is Then he says, "So that you warn people, you bring the message to a people whose fathers and forefathers were not warn were not warned before. So they are what? They're negligent and they are ignorant. They are negligent and ignorant." Then Allah says, The word of Allah, the decree of Allah has become true upon those people is established on those people and they won't believe. Most of them won't believe. We'll come to this. But I have a question for you. Allah says, "And we never punish until we have sent a messenger." Correct? Allah doesn't punish a people until he sends a message to them, a messenger to them. So on the day of judgment, there was a group of people that are called are the people who did not receive a messenger. They did not receive the truth. They did not receive the the true message of Islam. So these people didn't have a good chance uh on the reality of Islam. So Allahhana tala and obviously they weren't Muslim. So Allah is going to give them a test on the day of judgment. Allah Allah will not do them injustice. Cool. So here's my question to you. A man came to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. His father had died and he said, "Oh messenger of Allah, where is my father?" The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam told him, "Abu this is Sah Muslim. Your father is in the hellfire." The man was very very like touched and he cried and he walks away and he's crying. Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam sai wasallam says bring him back. He comes back. The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says my father and your father are in the hellfire. So the father of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam this is Muslim the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam agreed upon hadith is no dispute about it the father of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam when did he die before before the birth of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam right so did he receive a message did he receive a message. Huh? Yeah. But the Arabs didn't receive the message of and his message was to Bani is the prophetam said all the prophets and messengers of the past by the way they were sent to their people except for Muhammad wasallam. And Ibraim by the way was Ibraim. Why? Because the majority of people were his children right afterwards. But he still he was sent to his people. But uh yeah only Muhammad wasallam was sent to all of humanity. So how how do we reconcile? How do we reconcile? Huh? that time or at least Excellent. The Arabs originally were upon the religion of isam because they are the children of Isel. So they were upon the religion of is but then over time the religion was changed by a man who who brought the worship of idols to the Arabian Peninsula. Let's test your historical knowledge. Who brought the worship of the idols to the Arabian Peninsula? And he brought them from Hashem. He brought them from Hashem. The Arabs were upon the religion of worshiping Allah alone. One guy brought the worship of the idol. He was making trade and he went he was go to Hashem and he liked how they worshiped their idols and he brought and the prophets he brought the idols and he established that among the Arabs and it spread. The prophet sallall alaihi wasallam says about him I saw him dragging his own intestine his intestine have fallen out in the hellfire and he just keeps circling around them you know like a mule circles around the the mill this kind of yeah what's his name he's the first one who brought the worship of idols and polytheism to the Arabian Peninsula. Okay. Um there remained among the Arabs as you mentioned and upon the religion of Ibraim monotheism the worship of Allah alone and it was known among the Arabs. It was still known among the Arabs and the Arabs had the knowledge not all of them but for the most part it seems most of them knew that the worship of idols was not the religion of Ibraim. am and was not the religion of ism. So they were they are considered accountable before Allahh to that extent to the extent of the truth that they knew. So those that knew that worshiping the idols was not from the religion of Allah but they still practiced it then they have disbelieved in the truth that was there in them that was established among them. Okay. Now some scholars say we don't know exactly maybe there's other things maybe the the ones who reasoned with it they this is what they said okay this is what they said they said why because among the Arabs there were those for example the pro you know who was the man known for his generosity in the Arab tradition he was a very generous person very very generous meaning his house would never go empty of guests. He would always he he's feeding people 24/7 to the point that one day there was a guy and he had his house on the highway like where people were traveling specifically he put his house there so people could like he was begging people to come to his house that's how like generous he was. So one day a guest came and he had already like gone through all of the sheep and the the the cattle that he had. He had nothing left. He had only his own horse that he would ride. So he goes slaughters the the horse, cooks it and offers it to the guest. So until he became what? He became the sort of the icon of of generosity. If someone is generous, they would say he's more generous than his son became Muslim. Uh remind me what's his son's name. Hatimbu came to the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So he died during the life of the prophet sallallaihi wasallam but before he received the message he the messenger was notam was not a messenger yet when he died so he says what about my father and his generosity he said why did he do it wasn't it to get good reputation for his own name he said yes he says he got that he has no reward with Allah he has no reward with Allah So it shows you that there is some there's some level of accountability with those people and again the scholars who tried to explain it they said this is the religion of isam uh a great deal of them were aware some of them were not now by the way let's say two brothers one of them could be excused the other could not could be could not be excused it could maybe this person knows this person doesn't know right so how much or uh whether a person is excused or has an excuse with Allah or not sometimes this is a very private matter it's in their hearts it's in their hearts okay so just to explain how Allahhana does not do injustice to people and if you come across these you know hadith or narrations that mention something like this at least you know how the scholars reasoned with them wasn't there a person who used to call to monotheism before the prophet and who would be considered a nation on his own yeah yeah yeah there This was a montheistic person and he would he would challenge people of Quraysh. He would say none of you is upon the religion of Ibrahim and is but myself and he said if I know how to worship Allah I would worship him. The only thing he knew he was to bow down just like this. Okay. The prophet sallallam said he will be sent or he will be resurrected on the day of jud judgment as a nation by himself. Why? Because with in the in this darkness he was the only one with a like a a a glimpse of truth. He held on held on to it. And Allahh says again the decree of Allah has befallen them or has become true and established on them. So most of them would not believe. Why? We have made or we have set around their necks those kind of chains or those kind of iron collars that would again this would paralyze you. You can't do anything. You can't look around. You can't see the truth, right? You can't look properly. So that's one meaning again like sort of like unable to have the flexibility to see the truth. You might say okay so this is the decree of Allah. Allah set around their necks these uh you know these iron chains. How are they blamew worthy? We'll come to that. And Allah says, not only that, not only did he set around them their necks these iron collars, but Allah also says um we have established a wall before them and a wall behind them so they don't see the truth. They're unable to see. It's equal. It's the same whether you want them or you don't want them, they won't believe. How are they blamew worthy? If Allah cast this iron around their necks and Allah placed a dam before them and behind them so they can't see, how how come? Yeah. Even if they were not in that situation, they would still believe. But Allah would still know that they would still disbelieve in Allah. They would still disbelieve. Allah knows that they would still disbelieve no matter what. Yeah, that's the ultimate answer. But the answer by the way is given at the beginning of the surah and we explained it. Yeah. He guides who he wills and he misguides who he wills as well. But what's the basis for this? Allah puts guidance where it works. So the again know this the of Allah the decree of Allah is built on his knowledge justice and mercy there is no jud there's no decree from Allah there's no from Allah that is not characterized by these three So when Allah and the thing is you might you might say okay but Allah placed these walls around them so they can't see because Allah knows they won't be guided. Allah won't put put those walls around the heart that Allah knows will be guided. Period. Period. Simple. This is why sometimes people say oh if Allah already decided who the people of paradise are who the people of the hellfire are. Now why should I do anything like why should I you know bother try do something or try to be from from the people of the fire I'm gonna go to the to the hellfire that's foolishness because you're treating Allah as if he's a human being Allahh knows Allah knows who deserves guidance Allah Allah knows who deserves to be in the hellfire and somebody might think oh the hellfire that's very like atrocious thing is if the people of the hellfire are not put in the hellfire. That would be injustice and it would cause more evil in the world than you can imagine. So the the best option is the people of the hellfire are in the hellfire. Any option other than that is evil and Allah doesn't do evil. So it's it's it's important to understand as we deal with Allah subhana wa tala not to reflect or not to project our own human limitations on Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. So uh and there's a good thing to look at when you understand when you try to relate to causality. Uh let's say someone died from a disease. Okay. So they had let's say uh someone had a heart attack and they died they would say okay what cause what is the cause of death the heart attack okay um from the view of causality this is true this is true this is the immediate direct cause of death But we could also say his death caused the heart attack and that would be equally true even more true. Huh? Yes. Cuz his time was a was was written decided that was his death. So because he was meant to die at this specific moment. How does Allah cause people to die with causes? That's how Allah works with the creation. So Allah caused this heart attack to happen. So the person dies. Okay? No, no, no people die mysteriously. By the way, we all die according to the same physical rule, biological rules. There are very small exceptions, but this is something else. But we we so when Allah subhana t knows that you are going to die Allah that when Allah wants when Allah decides or decrees something to happen Allah brings about the causes that lead to it the means that lead to it that's how Allah works with the creation okay uh a very famous story which is true story that happened with uh we know Allah gave you know, special powers. So, he controlled the jin and the and he could command the wind and the wind would move based on his command. Go east, go left, go north, go south, whatever like the wind would act by the command of Alisam and you could imagine how the world would be. Okay. So one of his ministers or assistants of Sullean was in his company and a man came a strange man came and met with Sullean. When the meeting was over and the man left the assistant asked Sullean, the minister asked Sullean, he says, "Who was this?" He says, "Uh, this was me, the angel of death." The man panicked. He said throughout the meeting, he was just like stealing a glimpse of me every time he could. He was just looking at me. He was eyeing me. I'm worried. I'm worried. You know, I'm I'm scared. So he asks, he says, "Please command the wind to carry me to India." Hint. So the wind carries him to India. Later on medical mode comes to and she says the man freaked out. You kept looking at him. He said I was given the command from Allah to snatch his soul in India but he was with you and I couldn't understand why. Job done. Mission accomplished. So that's you see what caused him to die. He himself ran to his own death. He why death. So did the the disease cause death or did death necessitate necessitate the disease. You could depends where you look at it from. So that's the world that we deal with. That's the world we deal with. So Allahh when he guides sometimes people like find this puzzling. He guides whoever he wills and he misguides. How come? So Allah guides. Why are we responsible? Dig deeper. Dig deeper. Okay. Dig deeper. Allahh puts guidance where it belongs. And he puts guidance where it also belongs. Then Allah is going to talk about now those who will accept or who who will positively respond to the message. But let's stop here inshallah. And the question you see today is almost 8:40. Uh so in a couple of weeks in a few weeks it will be nine and we'll go past 9 a little bit. So for a couple of months it will be will hover around nine after and then back to nine and etc for a few months. So let me put the question differently. 7:30. If you agree with 7:30, if you think 7:30 is better, inshallah. So we can have about an hour and a half in average. Put your hand up. 7:10. Put your hand up where I can see it, please. 7:30. 7:30. Okay, sisters. Aha. Now we're talking because because at the beginning the majority was saying at seven. I was going to say you guys can come at 7:00. I'll see you at 7:30. Okay. Because again it's already like an hour and a half is way too long and too and as they say you know when you share a lot of information people forget. So we tried to just make it condensed, highlight some points. Hopefully if you walk away with one, two points of benefit that should be enough. Okay, questions. So from what I've read, he was considered Christian. Yeah. So for him do we know what his I guess afterlife would be like oh he became Muslim him he recognized that the prophet wasallam yes took the prophet wasallam to her uh to her cousin was someone who read the books of the Jews and the Christians and he became a tanasar a Christian uh and these are the the monotheist Christians. Okay, the monotheists that by the way survived and lived and remained in Europe. They remained mainly in Germany. Uh and the the Protestant the protestants came actually out of them. They were more of an evolving like a new newly evolving shape of them but they were montheists. So was one of them. So when he recognized this is he accepted Muhammad that was there was the only the only content of the messenger of Allah wasallam was he believed in that he became Muslim he knew Muhammad was a messenger so he believed in him so he's a Muslim he died as a Muslim he died a few days after that event by the way yeah sisters brothers yeah trying to understand. I'm glad no one called themselves right. Is that using what? I didn't get the question. Oh, the numbers to understand these letters what they mean. Yeah. Yeah. This is this is speaking about Allah without proper knowledge. Yeah. Because these numbers they really we don't know their basis and basically the the only way we are able to trace them back is to black magic. Yeah. So imagine that's the best explanation that we have of these numerical values that are given to letters is that they're actually until now they are used in black magic. You see these squares and matrix kind of thing that they're done with black magic. Hope you never see them. You never deal with them. Uh then they're basically they use this. Those who deal with they they use they know it very well. So I would say avoid it. It's better not to. Could there be some truth to it? It could be but we can't verify and we don't know how and how to use it. So it's better to stay away with it. If there was benefit in it, Allah would have taught us about that. Yeah. There's nothing that benefits us except that Allah told us that in the Quran and the Sunnah when it comes to again to the religion and matters of the unseen. Uh again, sisters. Okay brothers, I saw some hands. Yeah. Yeah. And many of them in the morning. No, no, no, no. I I won't make a big deal of it, but I would not stick to it regularly like this like specific time because something didn't uh something was not done by the prophet wasallam and his companions. Why? and we do it regularly routinely. I would say avoid it. Avoid the routine. But if you find the surah touches you hard and it helps you, by all means read it as many times as you want. It does have a big impact. Yeah. But just Yeah. And you won't call this no no nothing. No. But again, by the way, some of the they do accept some weak hadith for them. They say these v acts of virtue. There's nothing specific in or about them. Although it's very hard to separate because when you say you get rich, it shows about something from the unseen, right? Uh but um and it's even from some respectable scholars from the past, many of the early generations or a good deal of the early generations would actually uh accept weak hadith in doing virtuous acts. You see, so this kind of difference should be respected. This is should be respected and we can't like no I have the truth you are wrong because you many people say this is wrong but you'll go and you'll find some of the most notable imams that you follow and they are known by their sunnah and their adherence to the sunnah and they they did this and they accepted some weak hadith in certain areas spec specifically acts of virtue. Yeah. Okay. More questions. com. No, we want a question, not a comment. That's politics. Only Allah knows the meaning of the meaning of it. Yeah, that's that's the safest way to approach them. Allah knows about them and knows the meaning of Yeah. But some scholars tried and again we can't say they are right or wrong. Alhamdulillah. Okay. Good to make dua. Alhamdulillah. Huh? Okay. Yeah. Next week 7:30 inshallah tala. Next Friday 7:30. The light.
