terminologies which we use so as you can appreciate this is the mandible and these are the teeth so this part of the teeth which is towards the midline towards the anterior side this is the misal part this part which is posterior away from the midline that is the distal part the part which is facing the Buckle mucosa outside this way this is the Buckle part and this part which is towards the tongue is the lingual part so misal distal buckle and lingual and this is the surface of the teeth which is going to come in contact with the surface of the maxillary teeth it is the oclusal surface so now that we have seen the various terminologies which have been used for the angle classification uh we'll actually see how it is classified please excuse my uh diagrams these are just for the purpose of easier understanding of this classification so Edward angle has proposed this classification of occlusion or we can call it as small occlusion now with respect to these images these blue things these blue MERS are the maxillary MERS and black MERS are the mandibular MERS so these are all the first molers this is the misal side this is the distal side again misal is towards the midline towards the symphisis MTI distal is towards the Kile ramas so that part of the mandle is distal that is misal so occlusion is defined in terms of the mobule cusp so this is the mobule cusp imagine that you are seeing this image through the cheek so it is a two-dimensional image the mobule cusp of the upper first molar of the maxillary first molar udes with the mobule groove of the mandibular first molar so this is class one occlusion this is we can also call it as normal mobule cusp of upper first molar OC udes with the mobule groove of the lower first M of the mandibular first M now this is class one coming to class two again this is the mobule cusp the mobule cusp of the maxillary first molar is misal it is misal to the mandibular first molar so the maila is misal mble is distal or rather uh the maila is protruded the mandible is retruded so this is class two classification it is also called as retro retrogenia now coming to class three classification again we are talking in terms of the mobule cusp of the upper first M mobule cusp of the upper first m in relation to the mandibular first molar this is distal so this was misal so mobal cusp of the maxillary first molar is distal to the mesal groove or the uh you can say the mandibular first M so in this case the mandibular is prog netic magila is retruded so this is class three which can also be called as proga so this is in brief about the angle classification it was proposed by Edward angle thank you
