through it together okay I'm sure you'll find this really interesting so this is migration how many people come to the UK and how are the salary rules changing net migration to the UK fell more than 10% in 2023 according to official figures after a record number of people came to the UK in 2022 the government sharply increased salary requirements for visas to try to cut numbers yes we all know that right now how many people actually come to the UK let's even look at it next migration the number of people coming to the UK minus the number living was 685,000 in 2023 figures from the office for National statistics on show just over 1.2 million people came to the UK expecting to stay at least a year and around 532,000 departed so that's a fall from 2022 record net migration figure which has been revised upwards to 764 th000 however the on said it was too early to say if this is the start of a new down one Trad right now migration has 685,000 to UK population let's even look at the graph total arrivals and net change in UK population in the year to December 2023 so this was 1991 then 98 2004 2011 20 2017 as you can see from this graph there was a deep here and guess this was 2019 2020 during the covid right so they actually made you know some changes and some laws to attract you know bright-minded students to attract people in the UK to attract the best Minds to come to the UK and remain in the UK right now after that there was a high number it increased again in 2023 look at it but now there's beginning to be a fall after the new rules have been made recently the government noticed that the next migration hits the highest the highest the UK has ever recorded according to them so they actually now made put rules in place made policies made some changes and everything and now it's beginning to show and in 2023 according to this graph there has been a fall and I guess this is going to keep falling considering these new changes because these statistics are not even here here for 2024 and if you my channel you would I'm sure you would have watched where I also published where the home office said that the rules that they put in place is working that there's been a massive drop in the number of study visas number of health and care worker visas especially for care workers and their dependents and all seeing that they have stopped students from bringing dependents to the UK and they have also stopped care workers and senior care workers from bringing dependence to the UK seeing that the number is already going down it's even going to go down the more if consider all these new rules and the reports that they have made so far now of the 1, 218,000 people who came to the UK in 20123 10% were EU Nationals this is similar to the 2022 total of 116,000 about 85,000 people that's 1, 31,000 came from outside the EU and these are the top non-eu nationalities that came to the UK so more people obviously came to the UK and you know the thing really I'm I don't know if they prepared for it or they didn't expect it but the numbers were really high and that is why they are trying to cut it down or they have put everything in place measures in place policies in place to actually cut it down right and according to them is working so the number of people coming to the UK for humanitarian reasons in 2023 including from Ukraine and Hong Kong was 50,000 compared to 160,000 in 2023 now how are the minimum salary rules for UK Visa applicants changing of course we already know that they have increased the salary requirements for his kidw visa to 38,000 38 700,000 now if you want to move to the UK to work you have to ear up to this amount of money and all that and definitely all that is really going to affect or impact number of people coming into the UK from now and also they have stopped dependence of carers and senior care workers from moving to the UK and so many other rules that they have made they increase IHS fees and all of that right now the Home Secretary has claimed that 300,000 people who were eligible to come to the UK in 2022 would no longer qualify that's a good thing according to them because they are really working hard on cutting legal migration to the UK okay let's not talk about illegal migration let's focus on this one right now obviously this new rules also affected family visas in fact this news affected a lot of visas right and looking at it also you just begin to wonder could this really be the reason why the government has called for election earlier than it was supposed to be right because they want to show that they're really doing everything possible to cut that legal migration to the UK guys looking at the record okay it was really really high right this is like the highest theyve ever recorded and they just want to prove that oh yeah we are doing something about it and these are all that we have done please you guys should just consider us all right depending on who side you're on this could be a good or a bad thing for them we don't really know so yeah that's it I'm sure the impact of this new rules would reflect in future statistics because you know it wasn't covered here it's staining us for 2023 basically so let's see how it goes eventually in the coming weeks coming months let's see what happens because I'm sure that with the election coming up soon there might be more Publications by the home office by the government and all these news outlets whatever happens guys trust me I'll let you guys know okay so yeah they're just trying to say how this has impacted you know the health and care worker visa and everything everything you know they're trying to explain what the immigration salary list is for those who do not understand because it was also changed like the immigration salary list has replaced what was previously called the shortage occupation list you know this helps employers fill vacancies in key sectors and these jobs have lower salary threshold making it easier for applicants to gain enough points to get a visa and the list includes Health and Care workers phes graphic designers construction vets and all of that so employers used to be able to pay for workers 80% of the usual going rate to fill these positions but this rule has been abolished for people applying after forth April 2024 and then there are also rules for students and graduate visas as well and in the 12th months to the end of March 2024 the government issued almost 450,000 study visas 6% fewer than the previous year and of these 116,000 were issued to Indian na National and 109 to Chinese Nationals so those on postgraduate courses could also apply for visas for qualifying dependence a husband wife civil or married partner and children under 18 years and in the year to March 2024 111,000 visas were issued to student dependent a four of 25% now since January 2024 International postgraduate students have not been able to bring dependent unless their C is a research program now between January and April 2024 home office data shows only 8,300 student dependent visas were issued a fall of a whooping 79% that's a lot right that's a drastic drop now students who have already completed their degree can stay in the UK for two years three years for those with a doctoral degree to work under a graduate visa and then in the year to the end of March 2024 35,000 of such visas were issued excluding dependent a 38% drop remember that this graduate Visa you know the government also asks Mark to review it and give their report you know they noticed that they could be abuse or explation of the Visa and all but Mark came back with their report and said they don't think there's any form of abuse going on right so they recommended that the Visa should continue in its current form okay even though the government have not said anything like officially about it theyve not told us if they're going to adopt the recommendation of Mark or if they're going to make their own separate decision they haven't said anything yet so we are still waiting as well right now they now move to seasonal workers and what about seasonal workers the numbers temporary workers such as fruit piers and py workers are covered by seasonal worker Visas so there's also a Visa like that so for 2023 and 2024 there are between 45,000 and 55,000 seasonal worker visas available plus another two ,000 for poltry workers now an application cost £298 and workers must be paid the relevant national minimum wage it used to be easy to get fruit Pickers now how has brexit changed immigration if you also look at the graph you will notice how brexit changed immigration and all so before brexit okay EU and UK citizens had the freedom to leave study work in the UK in any EU country without needing a Visa but this freedom of movers ended on 1st of January 2021 when the UK left the EU So Co brexit all of that really impacted the UK's economy and everything so they really needed people to come and work and know help grow the economy help the UK and everything but then I guess a lot of people entered and maybe they didn't make arrangement for it or they didn't see it coming you know but this is why we are here right now this is why all these things are not happening the numbers has really increased and they're doing everything to cut it down so that's it guys and looking at this you notice that the figures came a day after prime minister Risha called a general election for Fourth of July in which immigration is likely to be a key Battleground issue so despite the fall net migration is more than three times higher than at the 2019 election when the conservatives promised to cut overall numbers in their Manifesto so you know the kept trying and trying and trying but now they just they've gone all out to really cut it so let's see how that will play out so Home Secretary James cleverly said the drop in next migration as well as Visa applications being down 25% so far in 2024 shows Mr Sun's plan was working but there is more to do so that is basically it guys let's see how this plays out let's see what happens in the coming weeks coming months but trust me whatever happens whatever they say I will definitely let you guys know okay so thank you all so much for watching today's video I'll see you in my next one bye-bye [Music]
