hey everybody it's your man mg marcus grant and welcome to fantasy 101 get your pencils ready because has anyone ever told you lately that you have a lot of fab i mean i don't mean your personal style though you are quite fetching with an excellent sense of style i'm talking about your free agent acquisition budget now i see that quizzical look on your face and you're probably piecing the words together trying to figure out what on earth two am i talking about well not too long ago we talked about the waiver wire remember uh if not i'll give you a minute to go back and look again all right all caught up so remember the part where i said some leagues use a priority waiver system to help determine who wins a claim yeah this this isn't that this is that other thing but it's a little bit of the first thing look i'll explain so like the name suggests each manager has a budget usually around 200 with which to make waiver claims throughout the season it's simple every week during the waiver wire run the manager that submits the highest bid for a player wins the claim now in the event that two managers submit the same bid the league's waiver order usually determined by the league's standings will be the tiebreaker that's just a fancy way of saying the worst of the two teams is the one who will get the player when it's all said and done now the upside of using fab is that it gives all teams in the league a more equitable shot at getting prime free agents the downside of fab means well budgeting every week you'll have to gauge your need at a particular position and determine how much you want to spend on a particular free agent since the bidding is blind you'll also have to guess how badly your opponents might want that same player it also involves a little bit of strategy since it gets harder to find quality players off waivers as the season progresses did you blow a big chunk of your budget early in the year or maybe you hold back until later in the season when most of your league mates have spent most of their fab money and make a couple of big splashy moves to help your team set up for the playoffs decisions decisions either way playing with fab could be a fun way of shaking up your current fantasy league give it a shot and happy budgeting is that is that a thing happy budgeting i mean if so it is now
