hey everyone my name is kelly a dj i work for barman consultant it's an energy consultant company i'm the vice president and the head of the chicago office welcome to a day in my life work at obama on a typical day i typically basically turn my computer on and go through my task items for the day that's going to involve usually maybe the first 15 minutes will be a review of my emails just to check which ones are the most critical and which ones i need to respond to and which ones have deliverables and which ones i need to kind of delegate to other members of my team now around 10 o'clock in the morning we'll kind of congregate online or in person with my team members we'll go through our task assignments for that week um check to see whether there's additional resources being needed and um who basically needs to jump on some projects to support and you know hit a deadline after lunchtime will be project deliverables i'm either calling clients i'm working on project work or i'm working on commissioning i'm working on engine modeling and i'm working on you know client outreach so one of the tasks that we did for the kurosawa medical center was what is known as a building energy model and what you're trying to work out is how much energy that building will kind of produce based on that particular design intent and then that way if you don't like a few things so it's not performing to the best as efficiently as you want to you can make some tweaks to the design and re-run it again to try and and you do this multiple times multiple times it might change maybe the window ratio you might change the window performance you might change some of the orientation you might change a lot of things about the design what you're trying to do is you're trying to use for the same building trying to get the best energy performance out of it and that's what we use an energy simulation to actually try and convey once we're satisfied with that then we can give the go-ahead to the builders to build it based on the new design that is the best and the most efficient all in all it's typically a very busy day lots of things going on lots of projects working on lots of people to communicate with and in the end of the day i get to go home and it's pretty cool well i hope you enjoyed uh spending a quasi day with me and my office it's now it's dinner time and i'm gonna go it's lovely talking to you guys ciao
