Impact of Prenatal Lifestyle on Brain Growth

America's favorite Dr Jen and there's a new study about the connection between prenatal lifestyle and brain development in kids tell us a little bit about it yeah so a lot of the attention you guys is on that in utero environment right as if pregnant moms don't need more pressure but um this study looked at very interesting looked at Future brain development of the fetus and divided up the about 1200 pregnant women into three groups makes total sense uh Mediterranean diet followers mindfulness and meditation followers and then pregnant moms who pregnant women who are just standard care what they found is that the Mediterranean diet intervention and the mindfulness meditation intervention seemed to produce a boost in brain development on in the fetus when tested after birth so again I think this is fascinating because it does shed light on diet stress mindfulness all these interventions in terms of behavior that can have an impact later on down the road and again there's been a lot of research in this time period but this one was very interesting in the things that it chose to look at but Mom should be careful when it comes to the blame game yeah guilt is endless and it doesn't stop after birth but again when you talk about controlling the controllables some things are out of our control my mindfulness practices and to some extent the kind of diet we follow is under our control and again low risk potential benefit as an obstetrician I think it's a win yeah we talk a lot about the fact you know whether it's breastfeeding or it's your Healthy Habits during during pregnancy sure you do what wait for you Dr Jen we thank you so much thank you thank you well hey there GMA fans Robin Roberts here thanks for checking out our YouTube channel lots of great stuff here so go on click the Subscribe button right over right over here to get more of Awesome videos and content from GMA every day anytime we thank you for watching and we'll see you in the morning on GMA
