Are G Idol disrespecting Sujin again? But should male idols be banned from doing girl group choreography? XVA member KG's Evidence and so much more in today's episode of Totally Legit K-pop News with me, Angelina. So, if you're interested, please keep on watching. Don't forget to like, comment, and share this video with friends you don't have, cuz it's Friday and I know you're staying home, too. Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold your horses. I said two. Without further ado, let's get into today's news. We need to talk about G Idol or rather Idol. It seems that the group have had a rebrand and they are omitting the G from their name. But the group have been a huge topic of conversation because across their social media they are now known as Idol. Now the G has quote unquote always been silent. Maybe not always been silent. My most viewed short is actually somebody threatening to punch me in the face because I pronounced it G&G Idol. Despite the fact that the group themselves have in the past introduced themselves as G Idol Idol, here's the thing. Ever since Suzan left G Idol, fans have been speculating that she would be coming back or at the very least the group was referencing her in their work. However, the last time the group performed at Mama, people were speculating that they were actually shading her. And we'll get back to that later. The group released this snippet and as you can see there's a coffin and this whole funeral thing is a very big theme. So logically what do you think fans thought? Naturally Suzan would be popping out of the coffin at any moment. The way I thought Suzan was about to pop out of the coffin and maybe that's why G exhibition for their museum they leave the G behind rebranding for legally being able to take Suzan back. Now of course not everyone agrees with that. A lot of people actually thought it was ridiculous. I I don't want to say a lot of people thought it was ridiculous. A lot of people have been thinking since the beginning that it's ridiculous to think that she would ever come back legally. Would she even ever be able to actually come back? Is it even logical to think that that's a possibility? There was even a thread made thread of why I think Sigin is coming back to G Idol this comeback and the quote seat. Oh, this is effing ridiculous. Are you serious? 12K likes for this literal bull. Where's your support for her solo career? They removed the six from their name. Enough with this already. They're rebranding themselves and leaving OT6 in the past. That being said, let's take a look at this thread. 3.6 6 million views. Okay, so let's talk about the coffin. It clearly has a G on it representing their idol and not G idol, but it can also be seen as a number sixth member. It seems like the members were sad to be in the funeral until they light up a flame and the coffin starts to levitate coming back to life again. Then they start celebrating. Oh my god, it's clearly a celebration with red wine. And then they shortly point at the coffin at the G or six when Sugjun's line in Laata plays. After that, they all sing Sujun's line together and then disappear, leaving only the coffin on the scene. Sugan, if you have more things you can, okay, so to reiterate, there are some people who were super convinced that Sujun will be coming back to G Idol. And then there were a lot of people who absolutely did not believe that was a possibility. And you know, even yesterday, I made a short about the situation and I specifically said I didn't want to alarm you guys, but I actually went thrift shopping and I found OT6G Idol posters. Oh my god. which in retrospect might have a different meaning now, but at the time I think a lot of people were counting on me to manifest this comeback. Fast forward to G Idol, or rather Idol actually releasing their special album, and it's all uh re-recordings of some of their old songs as OT5. They really made OT5 versions I'm crying. They said she is gone. So, as we can see, uh-oh, idol version. So, idol version being OT5 version, aka without Sudin. So, some fans started calling this out as disrespectful. While other fans were saying, "Well, actually, it's not disrespectful. It's actually super symbolic." Because I actually saw a tweet of someone saying that today is the day that Sugan's contract actually ends within Cube Entertainment, and this is them like mourning her or something. Let's read some comments. Really having a funeral themed teaser to re-release recorded songs without Sujun is shady as f. It's just disrespectful. They aren't erasing Sujun's contribution to Idol. They're making it clear that G Idol and Idol are different groups. They aren't the same after Sujan left. They are a different group. Sugjan can never be replaced. Not even Girls Generation did this to Jessica. Let's be real. This is the closure the fandom needed. In terms of closure, I mean, I remember in the Nude music video, a lot of people thinking that Gett were referencing Suzan because there's a character with a mole under her eye. There were always instances where people were thinking that she was being referenced within the group. when the group were supposed to renew their contracts, a lot of people thought that they weren't going to renew their contracts with Q because they historically have complained about Q a lot and that they would join another company and Sujin would then join that company with them and they could be OT6 again, that didn't end up happening. A lot of people thought they shaded Sigin at Mama and now with them re-recording a lot of their songs as OT5 versions, but if I know anything, I know K-pop stands and I don't think it's going to end here. But with all that said, of course, let me know what you think in the comments. Do you think it is disrespectful, especially to re-record songs without somebody? I know Lareram did the same thing with Gotam. Do you think it's ultimately just better to leave the songs the way that they are? No need to re-record them. They existed the way that they did. Let me know in the comments. Let's talk about boy group members doing girl group choreography wrong. So, this is a criticism that I see quite often whenever there's a quote unquote girly choreography and boy groups do dance challenges with those girl groups and they change the choreography to be more masculine. I know Yonjin in the past received backlash for quote unquote masculineizing a girl group dance. Was it Yonjun? I don't even remember anymore. But all that to say, it's not the first time that this has happened or the second time or even the third time I believe. But then you hear stories through the grapevine that like no, they were taught the dance in that way. Aka the company wanted them to dance it that way. But I digress. In Hypens J did a dance challenge with Daniellea from Cats Eye for their new song Gnarly. And we're seeing the revival of this criticism as we can see with that specific move. So that's basically the dance challenge, right? Someone tell him moving his hips wouldn't kill him. Can he not move his hips? Just pissing me off. No more men with this challenge, please. But then, of course, fans came to his defense cuz like I was mentioning before, you know, we've heard stories to the grapevine that like companies or like choreographers are teaching the boy groups a different choreography. So, this tweet pointing it out. So, Cassai choreographer taught these Boy Next Door members a whole different choreo, which is why these boy group members have been doing that. It all makes sense now. The TD challenge wasn't ever a battleground to y'all made one. News/ no one cares about your gendered interpretations of a dance challenge. Maybe take a step back and remember the basics. It's just for fun. Some people are also touching on the conversation surrounding idols interacting because the minute an idol interacts with another idol, there's just so much criticism. And it reminds me of this tweet that I saw. Let me see if I can find it because it also touches on how like nobody can take K-pop seriously because no matter what an idol does, fans trash it and then it's just a whole entire mess every single time without fail. I'm paraphrasing, but I'll try to find the tweet. People on this up are so stupid. K-pop Twitter truly is ruined. And the quote, see, K-pop is losing popularity. Of course it is. K-pop stands can't talk about anything normally anymore. All they do is drag idols and accuse everyone and their mother of plagiarism. No wonder people are losing interest. So, I want to know if you noticed an increase or has it always really been like this? Cuz I like think back to second gen and I'm like, "Oh, I don't think there was really that many fan wars." But then like you like actually think back and you're like, "Well, no, everybody hated each other regardless." But then you like I don't know. You think back and you're like, "Idols interacted way more." But it's not that they didn't receive hate for those interactions whatsoever. I mean, they received so much hate. You think back, oh, there were sexy concepts in K-pop. It was more free. Well, no. They received so much backlash. They're banned on music shows. There are banned music videos. So, was it really that good or just people trying to push boundaries and it not really really working? Cuz look where we are now. And I'm not saying like we need sexy concepts. A lot of people didn't like the sexy concepts. Even the people doing the sexy concepts didn't quite like it all the time. So, like I kind of get it then I don't get it. Like, has it always been like this? Cuz I feel like we have the tendency to think like, oh, it was so much better in the past, but was it really? Or is it just the same thing over and over again, and we're convincing ourselves that it's different, or is there really an increase? I think it's a really interesting conversation. So, let me know about that, too. So, I wanted to take the time to look into KG's evidence. So KG who is an ex-member of Vicha. So Vicha is an American girl group created by JYPp Entertainment and Republic Records through a survival show called A2K America to Korea. I mean they debuted, they had a comeback, they opened for Twice. But then member KG left the group and filed a lawsuit to terminate her contract with JP Entertainment. And she shared a lot of disturbing details which we're going to discuss today. So if you're not up to it, of course, please feel free to catch me in another video. She released a 132page declaration that was filed in court which includes text messages, photographs and she posted this on her story. My declaration with supporting evidence was filed in court today. It is public record so I'm sharing it here. The document contains sensitive material and photos but it is necessary to prove my truth to the court. I've chosen to protect the privacy of remaining members of each by concealing identifying details. So first up here, JPE forced me to work even when injured. In mid-Sepptemeber 2023, while I was training in South Korea, several members of Vicha, including me, sustained injuries. My teammate redacted, hurt her hip, back, redacted, sprained her ankle, and I tore a tendon in my shoulder. My shoulder injury occurred on September 14th when dance teacher BM on information and belief Pomman Lee made me repeat a single move hundreds of times without rest. This is the incident described in my complaint where I was even denied water, not surprising that I was ultimately injured. Although the pain was severe, I was not taken to receive medical care until September 16th, 2 days after the injury along with my two teammates. We all ended up getting injections at a local medical center because of those injuries. I do not know what I was injected with. So, exhibit A, this is a picture of her at the hospital. This is the image of multiple injection sites on her leg. The doctor warned me that my muscles were damaged from overuse and specifically told me to stop dancing and rest. However, JIP staff insisted I keep dancing anyways. I asked if I could take it easy, but I was told to do a full-out performance regardless. Then exhibit I is a screenshot from this video that shows how I was forced to keep training. Then here's the screenshot in question. This is an injury from her hipbone resulting in internal bleeding from repeatedly performing a move where I had to lie on the ground. Moving on to B. JPE forced me to work 60 plus hours per week. We were often pressured to stay late out of fear we would be seen as lazy or uncommitted. My teammate Redacted was typically told to decide how long Vicha would rehearse each day. They then informed the staff of our departure time. In November 2023, I felt immense pressure to spend additional hours training. The staff had told me that I needed to train like Korean trainees who stayed until after 1:00 a.m. And when I expressed a willingness to do that, they agreed and I ended up working until 11:00 p.m. after starting work at 10:30 a.m. Hey KG, I heard you might want to stay later than the others to practice. Did you have an idea of the times? Yes, I was wanting to stay late Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I was thinking maybe staying until 11:00 p.m. Even if Madonna isn't available, I'm fine with practicing in artist lounge or vocal rooms just to drill the new coro. I learn better when I have extra time to myself, so hopefully this is okay. Okay, I will let management know. I will let you know if there's any changes and if there's any changes on your end, please let me know. Okay, thank you. We confirmed with management that you want to stay till 11:00 p.m. They reserved Madonna till then for Wednesday and Thursday, but for Thursday 9 to 11, you have to use the small room next to Madonna. Okay, thank you so much. And then here again, they're discussing her staying later. And then just more conversations surrounding KG specifically staying later. C Jolled my diet and pressured me to eat less. While in Korea, JE pressured all of us in VHS to eat only salads. They claimed it was optional, but it was very clear that the staff would be upset if we didn't comply. We tried sticking to it, but it was impossible to maintain on our long schedules with so little nutrition. At the same time, JIP told us we couldn't eat at our hotel at all. We had to eat only what the company provided. When they found out we weren't sticking to salads, the staff's displeasure was obvious. Another JP manager on information and belief named told us words to the effect of lose weight or you'll regret the way you look. On one occasion, another said flatly, don't eat. It deeply affected us, making us feel anxious and guilty if we ate anything beyond those salads. She also says that J staff measured their weight every month that they didn't really agree to it, but it was like a mandatory procedure. We felt like the company was more focused on our weight than our well-being. So, in this exhibit, we see them talking about the salad. Heads up, I just personally got asked about if we are eating the salads. I said most of the time we are, but sometimes some of us feel it's not enough, so we eat something else with it, but most of the time it's just the salads. But I said with the longer schedules coming up, we might need to reconsider since we are dancing longer hours with a member saying that they can't handle salads anymore. Eating the same thing every day is not it anymore. This conversation stop the diet thing has me rolling. Oh, Alex also said being a little overweight will make dancing harder. Like, girl. Um, I don't think so. I think it's the opposite. Guys, the staff said they don't want us to diet this week. Our dance has no strength and we have no charisma anymore. They apparently want us to eat as we usually would and be full of power for the stages coming up this week. By the way, they are measuring our height and weight today. Damn, I just had a fat meal. D J used emotional manipulation to exert control over me. I was not the only Vicha member concerned by all of this. Another VCA member of Redact prepared a statement for Jipe to discuss how we were being treated generally and described JIP's contradicting statements including contrasting the statement. You should be staying till 121 with a direction to make sure to always get rest as an example of a contradiction. Here are some of the contradicting statements. You should be staying till 12:1. Make sure to always get rest. What are your expectations then? There can be drawbacks to that. Getting sick, physical, have to go to the hospital. Doctor says I can't dance or need to rest. then come back and the staff expect us to dance full out in every class. So then getting sick mental is also important to understand you need to give benefit of the doubt on mental health because it's serious. In September 2023, a translator named Redacted privately messaged the group. She mentioned that JPE might be withholding affection from us intentionally so we wouldn't become spoiled before debut. This confirmed our suspicions that the company's cold treatment was intentional. I respect Redacted for risking her job to tell us what was really happening, but I'd like to keep her identity confidential if possible. It also seems that JPE didn't let them or forbade them from listening to music or dancing to music that wasn't affiliated with their label. We weren't allowed to play other songs in the training building which felt controlling and unnecessary. She says that her and her teammates also discussed how they're too scared to request any schedule changes because they thought it would make the staff too angry. In this exhibit, we can see them saying, "I'm really scared." with them even discussing excuses like having to get ready for filming on Saturday or even just getting waxed. She also attaches conversations between her and her mother. OMG, these people. I have a hurt ankle. It got worse today. And I asked them for monitoring if I can go light on my ankle. They said, "No, I have to go full out because people are watching." Um, okay. So, you want me to worsen my health? I see. But because it's our monthly evaluations, I have to dance through the pain. And you know what? If it gets bad, that's your fault. They take up our lunchtime to scold us and tell us we suck and we don't practice and are horrible and don't allow us to leave. Then tell us we have 5 minutes to eat before a lesson. So, we all refuse to eat and say, "F that. We are not eating." Then they say, "Okay, don't eat then." Um, I call illegal. It seems that the company really pushed them to talk to the staff in Korean, even though a lot of them did not speak Korean well. And then for her specifically, it seems that she was not allowed in interviews, and this was instructions given to her. She wasn't allowed to talk about her previous experiences prior to Vicha, whereas other members were allowed to say that they were on the voice or in dance tournaments. So, she felt silenced by that, but it was company policy according to the company. E JPE exerted full control over our schedules, including personal time. If they had a day off, they still had to submit exactly what they were doing on that day. Also, with who? And it had to be approved in advance. They had a 9:00 p.m. curfew every night. At 9:00 p.m., the doors were armed with alarms so that we could not go outside after 9:00 p.m. We were functionally controlled around the clock. Every day, it felt more like a prison with guards where we were constantly under surveillance than like a home. This is her expressing how she feels is not fair. And then these are some notes given to them about what they can and cannot say. Try to refrain from using the words I'm a perfectionist, sensitive, have mood swings, emo, dark, something that can create a specific image of you. If you want to use the word perfectionist, just say attention to details. Try to refrain from using phrases like I get sad from time to time. I prefer to be alone. I like being alone in my room. Something that can put negative connotation on you. Don't mention K-pop artists other than JP artists. You can mention pop artists. Try to show your appreciation for your fans and your answers. KG, let's try not to mention your solo artist career before Vich F. JP had a surveillance camera monitoring us in our Los Angeles home. And she says these were hidden surveillance cameras. She claimed she was never informed that the cameras were installed, but discovered it after a J staff member made comments that showed we were being spied on. One of J staff members who did not live with us made comments about activities that happened late at night inside the kitchen and dining area after the house staff had already gone to bed. G J's actions impacted my mental health and the mental health of other Vicha members. As a direct result of the mistreatment, surveillance, forced labor, and control described above, my mental health and the mental health of my teammates deteriorated significantly during our time under JPE supervision. In October 2023, I noticed my teammate Redacted was showing signs of an eating disorder and possibly self harm, including binge eating, vomiting, and rumors that she was burning herself with a lighter. It alarmed the rest of us. She ultimately attempted as described in my complaint. I have a lot of evidence and conversations concerning this, but for the sake of her privacy, I do not want to add these things in the declaration at this time because they could reveal details about which member attempted. At an evidentiary hearing, I would be able to show this evidence to the court. It seems when they informed staff about this member's behavior, it was basically brushed off and the staff called eating disorders quote normal. So, she shows conversations that she had where they talk about being controlled and having no more motivation. The next evening, May 18th, 2024, we held a Zoom meeting with the Vicha members and some of the parents. During that meeting, we admitted that the environment was toxic to our mental health and discussing leaving JYP together. So, they talked about feeling mistreated, being forced to work through injuries, being required to work excessive hours, being controlled. Ultimately, the parents had concerns about the other members of Vicha leaving, discussing, among other things J's power and the parents fear of liquidated damages. On information and belief, the remaining Vichra members decided to stay. H J's financial practices left me and my family in confusion and debt. Beginning around February 2024, I became aware of serious financial concerns regarding alleged debt that J claimed Vicha members, including myself, owed under the company structure. Some of the charges appeared to be tied to living expenses, others to training costs, and some to promotional activities, but there was no transparency. We were working constantly, yet the numbers kept growing in ways we did not understand. And then I, JP, has continued to harm me and exert control over my life. She talks about the threats of liquidated damages that she can't use her skills anymore to make a living. I have prepared this declaration because JP has publicly accused me of making false and exaggerated claims while simultaneously trying to force this matter into private arbitration. I respectfully submit this declaration so that the court can see that my claims are neither false nor exaggerated, and I urgently need the court's protection and relief. So, of course, we didn't go through absolutely everything within the evidence that she presented, but I will be leaving it linked below if you'd like to go through it. But of course, let me know your thoughts in the comments. So, let's end off with some K-pop shenanigans, which are basically fun little things that have happened in K-pop recently and or quick news. So, a lovely viewer informed me that Yonjin did a photo shoot featuring a parrot. So, of course, we have to check that out. It's so cute. Okay, so this is a blue and gold Macau. How adorable. I love it. 10 out of 10. Then it seems that SS501 are having a 20th anniversary comeback, but it seems that they will be promoting under the name 501. A lot of people are saying that Rise's Bag Bad Bag sounds a lot like NCT's Gas. So, of course, let's listen to them side by side. Gas. So, what do you think? And then Renee Rob showed support for cats gnarly. It's good. Wake up. Wake up. But I reckon that is basically it for today's video. Thank you so much for joining me. Don't forget to like, comment, and share this video with friends you don't have. These are the lovely individuals who help support my channel on a monthly basis. It means the world to me. Thank you so much. And as I'm going to get going.
