Realistic Hair Drawing Techniques

Hi guys! So, I noticed some of you are curious about how I draw hair!!  I'm gonna show you my hair process in this video. I hope you enjoy today's video. Here, I created a multiply layer to add shadows I picked a low saturation color and covered on it ,   then used the eraser to roughly erase the lighting area.   Next, I refined details like the hair's cast shadow Continue adding details to the shadows Focusing on  small patches After shaping the shadows, you might notice the color look quite dark so my next step is to adjust them! Let's go back to the base color layer, loaded selections, then tweaked the hue and saturation on the multiply layer.   and shifted the hair shadow towards a brownish-orange. I made the skin shadow more translucent pumped up the pink in the clothes, Still on the multiply layer, I used a textured brush to add saturated colors. Bright orange at the shadow edge, light blue for skylight around the shadow, and vivid red on the clothes. Then added an overlay layer to fine-tune the overall colors. I added beige around the face for a more translucent look and added light tones to the lighting parts of the hair. Next, I created a normal layer, applying half tones to the hair’s light areas and adding some new light areas where light might hit. Changed the line color to blend in with the base color. I added some sky blue to upward surfaces, and also adjusting the colors. Applied a posterize effect and reduced  transparency for some color variation. Finally, duplicated all  layers and merged them together. Finally, duplicated all layers  and merged them together. Now, let's move on to detailing. Touch up time>< So, I'm adjusting the overall shadow shapes and modifying the direction of light To simplify the light parts, keep things clean, I'm toning down the details in the light area. Adding occlusion shadow part for the details. Here, I felt the hair was too dark, so I brushed on a saturated bright color. giving a low saturated color to the back hair to decrease saturation and add a depth Now, I start to refine the line work. Create the shadow where the hair overlap, but I will try to make them looks simplicity. I modify the shapes of the strands,  make the back hair to a shorter style. Zooming out, I noticed the overall  details were a bit too detailed and the colors seem disjointed. To fix that, I threw on another layer of  flat color on top to bring things mix together and toned down the details. Shadows closer to the light source are brighter. In this warm-toned shadow, apply  low-saturation to enrich the shadow details The hair at the back has lower saturation,  creating a layered effect add vibrant colors at the edges of  the shadows for contrast.   At this step, I add highlights to the hair, Using the posterize effect  to enhance color contrast and adjusting color balance. Make them looks transparency feelings. The hair’s part done><and  adding eye and clothes~~~~~~~ And that's how I approach coloring hair. I've just shared my hair process with you. Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching~
