Security Advance Procedures

Key Objectives

  • Retrace the proposed path of the executive.
  • Address and resolve security concerns in coordination with host/event planners.

Arrival and Vehicle Logistics

  • Arrival Point:

    • Begin advance at the arrival point or entrance.
    • Select an alternate arrival location if primary is obstructed.
    • Ensure the vehicle arrival point is reserved or blocked off.
  • Parking and Vehicle Security:

    • Identify the parking location for the executive's vehicle during the event.
    • Select an alternate parking location in case of emergency.
    • Ensure several escorts have duplicate keys for the vehicle and meeting rooms.
    • Program keyless entry systems to a common number for all security personnel.
    • Secure a set of keys within the vehicle.
  • Driver Protocol:

    • Know the location of the executive driver at all times.
    • Ensure the driver remains at the designated location.

Communication and Coordination

  • Establish communication links between team members.
  • Furnish all personnel with cell phone numbers and contact information.

Security Considerations

  • Threat Identification:

    • Identify possible threat areas and communicate to security personnel.
    • Know evacuation routes and ensure personnel have walked these routes.
  • Congestion Management:

    • Be aware of typical congestion at the arrival point.
    • Plan for potential congestion by tour buses, vans, or cars.
    • Security personnel should be visible to the executive driver.

Entrance Protocol

  • Use the standard entrance door over revolving doors to avoid confinement issues.
  • Plan for alternate arrival and departure points.
  • Conduct walk-arounds at key locations and site visits in advance.

Surrounding Environment

  • Be alert to nearby buildings and evaluate any potential security threats they may pose.
