the first 25 signs that you need to know in ASL. If you find this video helpful be sure

learn how to sign your first 25 words in ASL. Before we begin learning these first 25 words you
need to know that there are five important things when learning signs you need to make sure that you
need to know. The hand shape, palm orientation, movement, location and none-manual signals of
each sign. So for instance we have the sign ME. It's an index finger, which is its hand shape,
in the location on your chest pointing towards yourself and your palm is facing down and there's
no facial expression with it. Now if you'd sign it like this with your thumb that would be
incorrect and it wouldn't be a sign at all. So make sure that you're following each and
every sign knowing exactly what each hand shape, location, movement, palm orientation and
non-manual signal is doing in each sign. HELLO HELLO
Your dominant hand is coming out from your forehead.
HELLO SEE YOU LATER SEE YOU LATER
You're doing the sign for see and flipping it to later see you later SEE YOU LATER
I or ME You're just pointing with your
index finger towards yourself I or ME
FATHER FATHER It's the five hand but the top of
the head where the masculine part is FATHER
MOTHER MOTHER
It's the five hand on your chin. MOTHER
YES YES Your hand is representing your head nodding.
YES NO NO
It's like the letter n and o put together. NO
HELP HELP The old sign used to be help like somebody
was helping somebody across the street and then it changed into....
HELP PLEASE PLEASE
It's a flat hand making a circle on your chest. PLEASE
THANK YOU THANK YOU
Your hand is coming out from your chin. THANK YOU
WANT WANT You have bent five hands
bringing it in towards yourself. WANT
WHAT WHAT Your five hands are kind of bent
in together moving in and out. WHAT
DOG DOG It's just like you're getting a dog.
DOG CAT CAT
It's the cat's whiskers. CAT
AGAIN or REPEAT Your dominant hand is coming
into the middle of your hand. AGAIN or REPEAT
EAT FOOD EAT FOOD When you're eating it goes in and food goes twice.
EAT FOOD MILK MILK
It's just like you're milking a cow. MILK
MORE MORE Their flat o hands touching together.
MORE GO-TO GO-TO
Your index fingers can move wherever you go to. GO-To
BATHROOM BATHROOM It's the letter t for toilet which
can also mean toilet or restroom BATHROOM
FINE FINE Your five hand is coming right up to your chest. FINE
LIKE LIKE You're using your thumb and your middle
finger and pulling it out from your body. LIKE
LEARN LEARN You're picking up something
and putting it in your head. LEARN
SIGN SIGN Your hands are moving in towards
yourself referencing like you're signing. SIGN
FINISH or DONE and also when you sign it you go "FISH"
FINISH How that we've learned our first 25
