Overview
This lecture explains the step-by-step process for folding fluted filter paper to fit into a funnel and increase filtration surface area.
Steps to Fold Fluted Filter Paper
- Select a piece of filter paper that matches the size of your funnel.
- Fold the filter paper in half to create a semicircle, aligning the edges as evenly as possible.
- Fold the semicircle in half again to form a quarter of a circle, ensuring the edges match.
- Unfold the paper and fold each corner along the side edges into the central crease, repeating on both sides.
- Open the filter paper and flip it over to facilitate the next folding step.
- Take the corner of one end and fold it into the next crease line, creating a smaller section.
- Continue folding the paper back and forth (accordion style) around the entire filter paper.
- Once all folds are complete, open the paper to reveal the fluted filter paper, ready for use in a funnel.
