AQA Economics Paper 3 Exam Guide

hi everybody AQA paper three the synoptic paper for the AQA economics exams in this video I'll give you the structure so then you're aware of what this paper is going to be and then also my crucial tips to help you smash this paper and bear in mind that in this playlist you've got all the specific technique for the individual questions that will come in paper three this is a general overview which is very helpful as well so what's the structure of the exam well it's a two hour long paper that's 120 Minutes good to know the minutes to help you then break down the time allocation per question all the questions are compulsory you can have two sections every question in those sections is compulsory section A is going to consist of 30 multiple choice questions um then you go into section B and section B is when you have loads of source data right so lots of different sources lots of different data thrown at you you're going to have then three questions that are linked to that data a 10 Mark assess using data question there is evaluation needed and a judgment needed on that question a 50 Mark analyze question exactly like a 15 marker in paper 1 and in paper two a 25 marker discuss question just like you get in paper one and paper two but these questions are all based around the source data the extract data that you have crucially guys this is a synoptic paper where micro and macro is going to be tested so everything that you've learned in the two years could come up in this micro macro paper especially in the multiple choice there's going to be a huge variety of stuff there um these questions will be more focused but you don't know you don't know what's going to come up so you need to learn everything in micro and macro to be prepared this paper will be the last of your three so you would have learned all your micro and your macro already just going over that again because everything can come up in this paper three here are my tips for you don't over prepare like when I was studying right and I was doing AQA economics there was a similar kind of paper different uh papers back then but there was a similar startup paper to this and so many of my friends are over preparing thinking oh the sore State of Mind me about this so it might be about that random thing let me just learn that in insane detail don't over prepare it's the same content that you're going to be tested on that you've learned for your paper one and paper two your micro macro the same content just learn the same content really really really well and it's the same skills that you're going to use as well so don't over prepare just learn the same content practice the same kind of questions do past paper questions the same kind of preparation is important of course a link to the southern questions I'll be in paper three but don't over prepare thinking that oh the source state is going to be different I need to learn about all these random things in the world no don't worry about that learn the same content you know learn the same skills focus on the same core skills they will get you big marks right recommendations of timing very important my recommendation is for you to go for 30 minutes on the multiple choice questions a minute per question some multiple choice questions you can do quicker than that some might take you a bit longer but overall you're looking at 30 minutes that'll be perfect 40 minutes maximum maximum do not go more than 40 minutes on the multiple choice you're wasting your time if you do um you want to be fast you want to be accurate with the multiple choice questions get them done quickly to prevent any brain fake if you're there for so long your brain is going to be so tired before you've got the long essay questions at the end so if you fast be accurate practice is key for those for the 10 marker you're looking for 20 minutes that's a lot of time for this and that's a good amount of time to really get into the data to know what you have to do to structure your answer properly 20 minutes for the 15 marker as we're used to 40 minutes for the 25 marker as we're used to if you're down good on the multiple choice and you leave yourself with more than this allocated one hour and 20 minutes for the essay questions then Perth you've got even more time to allocate towards these questions but these are minimum time requirements to make sure that you hit the full marks on these kind of questions get into the extracts for these three essay-based questions that's what is therefore to really help you nail your answers for these three essay questions but just remember don't fall into this trap of going application and data first it's always economic theory that's first that's where your marks are your economics knowledge so don't overuse the data don't put the data in the source material first your answer isn't just to regurgitate what the data is saying or what the extracts are saying you're Theory first stay tuned for all the other videos in this playlist to gain specific exam technique knowledge for these different types of questions you'll need that to smash paper three I'll see you all in those videos thanks for
