hey everyone welcome to istqb Foundation exam question and answer Series in this particular video series I'll cover the sample exam questions that are available on the istqb website I'll explain those so that will give you a better understanding of how the exam structure is how you are going to tackle the exam questions for istqb foundation and clear your exam before getting into those questions first thing I want to cover is what exactly istqb is and what the istqb foundation certificate is why it's valuable and how you can go ahead and attempt for the istqb foundation certification so simply doesn't matter where you are simply Google istqb and visit this International software testing qualifications Board website which is istqb dorg okay so if you go to this particular website this is the official website for istqb and istqb is a leading global certification scheme in software testing field right so they have administered 1.3 million exams and before I proceed I would like to mention that this is not a sponsored video at all I'm creating this particular video because I myself have done couple of istqb certifications including the advanced ones and I found value in istqb Foundation syllabus when I did my sqb Foundation certification almost 20 years ago that's how I learned the basics apart from whatever I learned in my engineering degree post that I learned the remaining basically whatever the syllabus covered in terms of software testing so that I can understand how the testing is conducted what are all our key keywords are there within testing and then got into software testing project which eventually helped me to pick up things in a better way now there will be many people who say certifications are of no value but personally I feel certific ification if the syllabus is really good and teaches you something certifications are not a bad thing it doesn't matter you attempt for the certification or not but as far as syllabus and the content teaches you something it's absolutely of a great value and I found value in Foundation certification I did couple of advanced certification as well so istqb has administered 1.3 million exam as of June 2023 right and issued more than 97,000 certificate ation in over 130 countries now you can imagine almost a million people certified in istqb worldwide right so that's that itself shows that how popular this particular certification is and if things are not valuable it doesn't matter what people say and there are many knowledgeable people out there on social media that will say it's not valuable that doesn't mean that you know if things are not valuable these this is not the number that you are going to see any you know invaluable thing public is really smart Okay so that's basically about you know the istqb now if we go and see what exactly the certifications are available right so there are many certifications that are available in istqb but this uh in istqb but the starting point is istqb foundation certificate which is for the people so for example you are a grad or you are still in in graduation and you want to learn an attempt for certification really good one because recruiters employers many times will will mention that istqb certified tester right so that is the level of penetration that this particular certification has in the industry so if you go to the our certifications you will see this particular page here okay and this is where we are starting certifi tester 4.0 4. o is the syllabus which is the recent one and this is where you start so you have the foundation level so ctfl Foundation level and then once you are done with the foundation then there are the extensions so the specialist one so you have the post Foundation you have the specialist certification the right hand side you can attempt any of these specialist certification post Foundation you have the advanced level as well okay so you have technical test analyst test analyst and test manager and then you have the expert level as well so Advanced and post Advanced you can go ahead and attempt for the expert level okay but the starting point is foundation and post Foundation you have the agile extension okay so agile extension which is the foundation level extension for agile tester and then agile technical so these are the this this is the core layer in between basically Foundation Advanced and expert and then you have the specialist and then agile extension but to start your journey in istqb you have to start from the certified tester or basically ctfl Foundation level okay you have to start from there and this is what we are going to cover in this particular video series I'll be covering question and answers for ctfl which is foundation level okay so once you do this then you can attempt any of these and I'll be creating courses for these specialist courses or specialist uh exams as well I already have course for ctfl certified tester Foundation level and agile tester extension whatever changes are there for version 4 of this certification so if I click on this Foundation level you will see it will navigate you to the ctfl V4 which is the new one okay and this is where you can get the syllabus what exactly you have to read and study right so simply click on this syllabus and it will give you the syllabus for istqb certified tester Foundation level okay so this is the syllabus and in the syllabus you can see a lot of information for the exams as well they provide okay purpose and then career path and then the business outcomes and examinable learning objectives and knowledge so basically you'll see that K1 to K4 is what they judge you on right so here K1 is remember K2 to understand and K3 to apply okay so up to three level questions will be there so if if a question is k1 that means you should remember the concept K2 is more of your understanding and K3 is application are you able to apply the concept or you understood how you are going to apply okay so that's the that these are the learning objectives that you need to be aware of for the foundation level okay chapterwise it will also show you how much time mostly you have to spend okay so basically you'll see that 18 hour 55 minutes of instruction overall across six chapters and then you will see the assessment level K1 K2 what what exactly they'll be asking in each of these topics that is also mentioned here so as part of the foundation syllabus as you go against each chapter you will get those details right so if I go to the next one we go you'll see that here it's more of K2 less of K1 right similarly if you go to the three K2 K1 right so accordingly you can see that how you are going to prepare against each of the exam exam topics so this is basically how you are going to look for the exam details these are the sample exams that you can download the PDFs and this is what we are going to understand so I'll go question by question and I'll explain those right not just that the correct answer is this why the correct answer is this why other options are incorrect right so I'll explain that with the sample exam so that will give you a very broad very you know deeper perspective of how you are going to attempt for the exam and also give you a good knowledge now exam structure rule file is there so you can basically go ahead and also download General files are there okay so this you can go ahead and read so usually exam structure is 40 questions total 40 points okay and then passing score is 26 and exam is 60 minutes right if you're attempting an in non-native language then you get 25% extra time okay so that's the brief about the exam now how you are going to attempt for this exam as you see that this is the global website right now if if you have to go ahead and attempt for the exam simply on the homepage you will see that exam providers okay and then you can go ahead and see what all exam providers are there for example if I want to see if I have any exam provider here so if I simply go ahead and search you'll see that no results found that means if you are in this country you can't you don't see any of the exam providers so maybe that country doesn't have this but mostly so for example if I go to Bangladesh you'll see every country most of the country that you choose Australia will have the exam providers and you can choose any of these providers to register for the online exam okay so even I think see so most of the countries very rarely you will find that it doesn't matter where you are you will be able to get some exam providers that you can use to go ahead and enroll for the exam right okay so here you will see that some countries have their own testing board for example if you see India okay or Greece so Greece Greek software testing board is already there you can use their board to basically register for the exam and attempt for the exam if not if that particular country doesn't have the board you will have the capability to use the other exam providers for example aqb or Association for testing and software quality assurance you can go to any of these websites any of the providers and register accordingly okay so you can purchase the exam and and then attempt online right so you can see here if I go to the exam registration right so you can register now for certification exam istqb aqb at right sqa so if I go there you will see that you can purchase for yourself the vouchers that you are looking for okay and then you choose the country wherever you are okay and then you can attempt the exam online so basically you see all exams can be taken online from your home in any country in the world okay or at testing center worldwide so there are testing centers or any country so basically even though you if you don't see basically any of the exam providers for example for your country still you can go to these exam providers that are listed for example ATS QA and call them and understand whether the purchase that you'll do in your country whether you can take the exam online I think it shouldn't be a problem as they clearly mention that you can do it from your home in any country in the world right so it doesn't matter if your country has the testing board or not for example India has the testing board many countries have the testing board so you can see that you can go to that particular testing Board website okay or you can go to these International website to register right so if say for example if I'm going to American board but my location is in India okay so going through that board I think will be cheaper as compared to registering through American software testing board okay so let's say if I go to register for exams purchase and you'll see here it charges you dollar but if I go to the Indian testing Board website when I'm in that particular country always prefer the local testing board these testing boards are istqb testing boards itself right for that specific country for example this is Indian testing board then I can basically get if I say so I'll say third exams and here you'll see that exam fee is in INR okay Indian rupes so that is much cheaper right so Foundation level agile first time it's basically less than 7,000 with with GST so that is less cheaper uh it is it is far less as compared to going through the international board see Foundation level is$ 229 us that is a lot more as compared to the local testing Board website so search for the country wherever you are if you have the local board in that particular country right for example Hungarian testing board if you find it cheaper go through that board otherwise you can get the exam from any of these boards that are available okay so this is basically about the brief of what istqb is what istqb Foundation exam is all about where you can get the syllabus a little bit about the exam structure how you can enroll for the exams as well okay so
