[Music] [Music] [Music] it's a beautiful day in this neighborhood a beautiful day for a neighbor would you be mine could you be mine it's a neighborly day in this beauty would a neighborly day for a beauty would you be mine could you be mine I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you so let's make the most of this beautiful day since we're together we might as well say would you be mine could you be mine won't you be my neighbor won't you please won't you please please won't you be my neighbor [Music] pleas my neighbor come in Mr MC sorry this delivery took so long oh my friends and I have lots of ideas for ways to do things while we're waiting and then you'll never be bored that's true that's a nice lay you have on yes A friend of mine made that all different peanuts and this videotape is how people make peanut butter from peanuts I know uh could you wait and watch it I can I don't have that many deliveries today as a matter of fact I have seen it and I'll be able to tell you some things all right good we'll watch it together all righty we'll look at it on picture picture how people make peanut [Music] butter first people put peanut seeds into containers called Hoppers those are seeds and then plant them in the ground seeds are being planted that's right after a while the seeds grow into plants MH but you don't see any peanuts yet because they grow under the ground oh the peanuts are close to the roots aren't they and this man is checking to see how they're growing mhm well it looks like they've grown very well well when they're just the right size people use this machine right there called a digger and a Shaker to loosen the peanut plants from the ground and shake off the extra dirt and put them back in the ground to dry and after the plants have dried for 2 or 3 days a machine called a combine separates the peanuts from the plant people have to know how to drive a lot of machines they surely do oh then the peanuts go into giant wagons to dry some more what's this but when the panut have been checked to make sure they're okay this machine cleans them by shaking loose any stones or extra dirt on the peanut the peanuts are now ready to have their shells taken off now here's the sheller it pushes the peanuts through holes that are smaller than the peanut the pushing cracks the shell of the peanut and out comes the kernel you know that's the part we eat the kernel is the kernel look at them looks like they're dancing the Shaker then separates the kernels from from the shell well there they are the shell peanuts now these two men are checking them once again to take out any pieces of the shell that might still be there being very careful aren't they they certainly are what's that then people weigh the peanuts and put them into big cloth bags you [Music] see and then what well you'll see they sew up the bags the top so the peanuts won't come out oh look at that slide down the slide yeah that looks like fun I bet it is once they get down the slide the bags of peanuts go by truck to the factory where people will make peanut butter oh so it goes to another place to make peanut butter that's right what's this man doing he's opening the bag of peanuts and now they're traveling someplace else yeah that's right the peanuts need to be cooked before people make them into peanut butter oh they need to be cooked mhm and this cooking is called roasting first they go into the bin of The Roaster and then down into the raser to be cooked this man makes sure the rooster is just the right temperature well it certainly looks very hot there look at them cooking it does get very hot inside [Music] there out come the roasted peanuts and they're off to be cooled first they're roasted and then they have to be cooled mhm well now he's wearing gloves right I guess to protect his [Music] hands and when they're cool just enough they're ready to be blanched what's that mean well blanching it's a blanching machine that cleans the peanuts and it takes off the skin that's what blanching means it takes off the skin of the peanut and it also breaks the peanuts up into pieces there they go dancing along again dancing along ready to be made into peanut butter now how's that going to be well the peanuts travel through this pipe into the round grinding machine you see the pipe into the they're being broken up some more and they start to become peanut butter now watch there I see some you see mhm now this is chunky peanut butter you see the bits of peanuts in oh yes that looks good but to make the smooth kind it needs to be ground one more time you mean we won't see the chunks now you'll see how it comes you see it's it's smooth peanut butter into the jars into the [Music] jar now this person makes sure the jars are filled with just enough peanut butter and then this man puts the lids [Music] on and she puts the jars into the [Music] boxes and he closes the boxes so the peanut butter can be sent to the stores where people can buy it and enjoy it enjoy it is right [Music] [Music] now when I eat peanut butter I'll know about some of the people who helped to make it it takes people to make practically everything doesn't it yes that's why so many people go to work I have my Speedy Delivery work and you do your television programs yeah that's right takes people to make all sorts of things away and at home too oh it's Maggie Stewart hello hi Maggie Speedy Delivery yes indeed speedy delivery to you're the one helping Mr MC today yes I am helping them today and I have here a videotape about how people make grape jelly in a factory oh could we see it oh yes and will you watch it with us I would like to good let's see it on picture picture come along how people make grape jelly oh I've been hoping for that will you tell us about it I'd like to do that too good how people make grape jelly in a [Music] factory people make grape jelly from grapes that grow on vines like these what's that oh this machine is the Harvester it picks the grapes off of the vines uhhuh oh there they are the grapes yes they go on that conveyor belt and this woman pulls out some of the stems and leaves then down into these bins they go and off to the factory where they're dumped into an even bigger bin I've never seen so many grapes all at one time it takes lots of grapes to make jelly for people to eat next they go through the stemmer it takes off the rest of the stems and leaves and they're taken away on this conveyor belt the juice and the grapes travel to the stemmed grape tank it looks like there's just juice in there it does but there are grapes in there too the grapes are cooked and as they cook they travel over these screens the juice which will be made into jelly drips down through the holes in the screen as the seeds and the rest of the grapes keep moving on top of the screen oh so it's the juice that's made into jelly right while the juice is being squeezed out of the grapes this man adds something called pectin to some water that's already in this tank all that will be added to the juice to make the jelly what's pectin it helps make the juice thick and when it cools it will become jelly so that's the pectin and the water cooking that's [Music] right on to the Cook room where the juice pectin and water and some other ingredients are mixed together and cooked it's becoming jelly now [Music] here are the jars that will be filled with jelly this is really fun to watch they get filled up so fast look at that they do but watch carefully the lids for the jars are put on even faster so those are the lids coming down the slide yes to go right on top of the jars [Music] had [Music] fun next The Fill jars are heated in this machine and then cooled it's not juice anymore the pectin and the cooling work together to make the juice thick so it becomes jelly this woman sets up the labeling machine the jars of jelly pass through it and get a label added it reminds me of a merry-go round yes me too there they go and that's how people make grape jelly in a factory those are big jars of jelly so interesting indeed they are you help to make each day a special day by just your being yourself there's nobody else in the whole world who's exactly like you and people can like you exactly as you are [Music] [Music] [Music]
