Review of CMF Phone 1

this is the cmf phone 1 and you can change its design it is easily repairable and you can even expand the memory and the software is stunning and all of that cost just under €200 how is this even possible and can I recommend it well to find out I used it as my primary private smartphone and here's my review cmf is a sub brand of nothing that's the company with the transparent in ears and LEDs on smartphones cmf is a term used by product designers and it stands for color material finish and you can clearly see that in the smartphone it looks a bit handmade with large visible screws plastic that reminds me of hand tools and there even is a small screwdriver which you can use to loosen the bag and replace it with another one out of four colors and I do think they all look very cool but that's not all you can also screw in accessories at the bottom like this little stand or a strap or a wallet that holds onto a magnetic plate which is Simply Mac safe like the iPhone which means you can use all of the accessories here too just no wireless charging but I have to say especially the strap to wear around the neck I found it really handy and even stylish people have complimented me and asked me which phone that is I mean how often can you say that when you're using a €2 200 phone the whole system with the screws and the design in general somehow reminds me of of Ikea a simple idea well implemented no crazy mechanism just five screws and you don't even need a case if your phone falls down you can just buy another bag there are also plans to release more accessories in the future however there are two areas of the design that clearly show the savings that have been made first there's only one mono speaker and second the vibration motor is a bit cheap the cmf phone 1 is relatively large and also looks and also feels is large this is due to the angular shape and the 6.7 in display it is OLED has a full HD Plus resolution and 120 htz the peak brightness is 2,000 nits and the typical brightness is 700 nits if you're are overwhelmed by all these numbers don't worry they only mean one thing this screen is very good and I loved looking at it it's a great screen it's almost as good as in high-end smartphones and I would even prefer this screen over the iPhone 15 plus screen which is five times more expensive and has only half the display refresh rate seriously this is a really nice display I enjoyed looking at it and I can't say anything negative about it well of course not nothing I'm me after all the bezels are not the thinnest nor symmetrical but for the price I think that's fine and there's a thin silver ring around the selfie camera which makes it unnecessarily conspicious the the device is powered by a mediatech 7,300 processor with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory that can be quickly expanded with a Micro SD card up to 2 TB is no problem performance is on par with the nothing phone 2A and that device costs €330 and of course it's not the same performance as in an high-end smartphone but I was surprised on how fast and smooth this device runs most of the time I don't even think about the fact that this is just a $200 smartphone I used this phone just like I would use any other phone and it was no problem it was completely fine the performance was great most of the time I was not even thinking about the price but sometimes there were some starters some loading times they reminded me of the price but it was not too bad the 120 HZ looks wonderfully smooth just the way I like it it's certainly also down to the software it's almost pure Android 14 with with nothing OS 2.6 that is probably the most stylish Android interface you can have the widgets have this retro aesthetic with playful elements you can even put them on the lock screen and they will appear on the always on screen you can hide app names and color all apps in monochrome there is an artificial intelligence and you can generate background images with it and I think they look very good jet jpt is also directly integrated into the system and you can even control Apple's airpods so even if this Smartphone would be boring I think the software alone would be a great reason to buy it there are software updates guaranteed Android updates for 2 years and security for 3 years but there's one strange criticism and that is the missing of NFC there's no NFC in this phone and that's because in Asia you usually pay with a QR code so you don't really need NFC but in Europe and the US you use NFC a lot if you want to do Mobile payment and I'm even wearing a blood sugar Monitor and it uses NFC to read out the data so for me it's a little bit annoying to be honest but uh you could totally buy a smartwatch which does have NFC and use that to pay with it but when you buy the cmf Watch 2 it does not have NFC and why not let's do a small review of the cmf watch a review inside of a review the case is made entirely out of aluminum it's also modular but still completely waterproof it has a round OLED display and beautiful software it runs very smoothly it is not wi nevertheless it has 120 Fitness features and a 9 to 11 days of battery life although I came closer to five or six it is not as good as a pixel watch or Galaxy watch and there are some weird criticism I would address if this was was a full review but the crazy thing is the price it's only €69 and I don't understand that sure it's not the best smartwatch and it doesn't have all the features but for this price this is unbeatable and only €10 cheaper are the cmf butts too well let's do a review instead of review instead of a review they are super comfortable have a good ANC they sound practically identical to the nothing e2a so very good and they have 6 and 1 half hours of battery life as a special feature you can change the volume with the case because it has a rotating Crown honestly if you're looking for good headphones for a little money you won't find anything better than this okay back to the phone the battery inside of this thing is 5,000 Mah hours it lasted me easily a whole day just yesterday I still had 38% of battery left after using the phone for 4 and 1/2 hours so two days are not out of question I think 7 hours of display use are realistic that's the advantage if you're using a mid-range processor if you remove the bag you can see the battery and it says you shouldn't remove it but you totally could and way way easier than with any other smartphone except maybe the fair phone and I think yeah let's let's give him a hand for that that's great and you may think that this device is not waterproof because of it but it is even without the cover Splash proof it has an IP 52 certification okay I've talked about pretty much everything except the camera and you might want to correct me and say no Killian it's cameras but no I have to disappoint you it's just one the second one is a depth sensor and it's only used for portraits so it's pretty useless but the main camera has 50 megapixel and a relatively good sensor but although my expectations are not astronomically High yeah I was not too happy that's the point where you notice the price the most for simple snapshots during the day it's fine the saturation is a bit too high and the contrast is always a little bit off sharpness though is fine when it gets darker the pictures can get a bit dead that's because there is no ois and the nothing phone 2A does a much better job at it it's a similar story with selfies they're not really bad but they are not good either I don't know what to expect from a € 200 smartphone but at the end it's pretty much what you have to expect conclusion I was telling you all the time that this phone is €200 well it's not only if you're pre-ordering it actually it's € 239 for 128 GB of storage but I would totally suggest buying the higher end model with 256 GB of storage because it's only €30 more and then you maybe want a colorful cover so you have to pay €35 more and maybe you want the leash which is €25 as well so at the end you are at €330 which is conveniently exactly the price of the nothing phone 2A and it is for sure the better smartphone better screen better cameras the LEDs on the back it's just a little bit more premium but it is less fun it is not modular and I love this concept and I would love other companies to copy it and cmf to continue it I think it's a great idea and it shows that the cheap phone can be fun as well can be repairable as well and it shows that software great software is always key I hope this video was helpful for you see you on the next one bye
