The Conclave Process After Pope Francis's Passing

The passing of Pope Francis is prompting one of the most elaborate, secret, and sacred traditions. Cardinals from around the globe are flocking to Vatican City to elect a new pope. A process known as the conclave. Already tomorrow, the cardinals will be gathering in Rome for their first general cons uh congregation, which is when they plan the funeral and start planning the conclave. The conclave begins 15 to 20 days after the pope's death. It will have to begin uh somewhere between May 6th and May 11th or 12th because that's the norms for uh the election of a new pope uh the way it's been laid out. The 135 eligible cardinals will be confined inside the cyine chapel, taken an oath of secrecy and are shut out from the world, meaning no TV, phones, or outside communication. To be eligible, the cardinals must be under 80 years old. Ballots are cast up to four times a day. If a twothirds majority is not reached, the process continues. If no decision is made in four days, the conclave breaks for prayer and discussion. Then we'll try again. It typically lasts a few days, but will continue once a pope is selected. The public is made aware of the decision by the color of the building smoke. Black means no decision has been made. White means one has translated we have a pope. Bishop RH says this is an important time for prayer. This is a very important time of prayer. As we pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, we're also praying for the Holy Spirit to guide the cardinals uh at the papal election during the conclave. Thanks for watching.
