Overview

This guide details every ghost type and their unique traits in the game Blair, covering behavior, identification methods, and special abilities for each ghost. It serves as an in-depth reference for players seeking to improve their gameplay and identification skills.

Banshee

  • Targets a single player per match, will only hunt and kill that player if they are inside.
  • Ignores other players unless the target is absent, then chases any player.
  • Can be safely identified by the Banshee Screech using a parabolic microphone, which increases in detection chance the longer it's held.

Demon

  • Always aggressive, triggers more ghost events and interacts frequently.
  • Can manifest repeatedly, even before players enter, and hunts at any sanity level.
  • Fast hunter, can be stopped by a crucifix from a longer range (40 studs).
  • Rare chance of emitting a demon Roar when crucifix is used.
  • Gains speed with every manifestation event.

Faker

  • Mimics various equipment sounds to confuse players, except certain noises like footsteps and Banshee Screech.
  • Remembers sounds for a limited time and can reproduce them across large rooms.
  • Generates fake footsteps in random spots during hunts.

Haru

  • Only shows traits during hunts; will never roam from its favorite room.
  • Speed increases the closer it is to its room, and slows down as it moves away.

Lament

  • Fakes the end of its hunt by turning off all lights and going silent, though footsteps can still be heard.
  • This phase is likely but may not happen every hunt.
  • Can drain 100% stamina during certain events, a trait unique to Lament.
  • Does not speed up while chasing players.

Mar

  • Dislikes light, hunting less often in lit rooms and capable of shattering lights when turning them off.
  • Can blow out candles at double the normal distance.
  • Sometimes immediately turns lights off in its room when the breaker is on.

Nook

  • Attracted to rooms with the most items and may steal or throw objects.
  • Roams frequently until it finds a room with the highest item count, then stays there.
  • If items are moved, Nook will relocate.

Poltergeist

  • Highly interactive, especially with items (can throw multiple at once in a "p explosion").
  • Blinks visually faster and can perform two simultaneous interactions occasionally.
  • Not as aggressive but extremely active with environment changes.

Revenant

  • Moves very slowly unless it sees a player, then becomes extremely fast.
  • Can be stunned and slowed using an incense burner, which resets its target tracking.

Shade

  • Has a shy personality, does minimal interactions or events, especially with players nearby.
  • Only hunts below 35% sanity and cannot do manifestation events on its own.
  • Summoning Circle appearance is non-lethal.

Spirit

  • Stunned by an incense burner for longer than other ghosts, nearly freezing in place.
  • After cleansing, only able to hunt for 3 minutes instead of 2.

Striod

  • Becomes invisible near water, otherwise blinks very slowly, making it easy to spot.
  • Turning off water may cause an immediate hunt regardless of sanity.
  • Leaves unique, even-fingered fingerprints.

Wraith

  • Most prone to roaming, can move far from its room and never steps in salt.
  • During manifestation, floats instead of standing.
  • Rarely teleports to a player's location, detectable with EMF reader.

Yama

  • Can turn any room it roams into its favorite, leading to multiple cold rooms.
  • Stunning or cleansing stops roaming for 2 minutes.
  • Unique Spirit Box growl; blinks much slower during hunts.

Yuri

  • Completely blind during hunts, detects players only through movement.
  • Does not speed up when seeing players, making it easier to outrun.
  • Will walk away if players stand still during hunts.
