Notes on Opening Revit Model in Twinmotion

Introduction

• Overview of two methods to open Revit models in Twinmotion.

Method 1: Direct Export from Revit to Twinmotion

• Step 1: Open Revit and load the sample file (e.g., B project glow nuget).

• Step 2: Navigate to the 3D view in Revit.

• Step 3: Go to the View Tab and then to the Presentation Panel.

• Step 4: Select TR Motion from the dropdown.

  • Click on Open in Motion.

• Step 5: Handle the direct link notification:

  • Choose the Callist Option.
  • Select Keep Hierarchy from the three options provided.
  • Click OK.

• Step 6: Wait for the direct link to process.

Method 2: Exporting Revit Model to UData SM Format

• Step 1: In Revit, go to the View Tab and then to the Presentation Tab.

• Step 2: Click on the dropdown panel of TR Motion.

• Step 3: Select Export to Data SM format.

  • Click the Save button to save the UData SM file.

• Step 4: Open Twinmotion software.

  • Click on New Scene to create a new project.

• Step 5: Use the Import Tool:

  • Click on the Plus Sign icon.
  • In the Geometry Tab, open the file location of the UData SM file.
  • Click Open.

• Step 6: Ensure Keep Hierarchy option is selected for the call list.

• Step 7: Click Import to bring the data into Twinmotion.
