Concepts of Classic Contracts

Basic Information

• When there is a valid contract and one party breaches it, the other party is liable.
• Can someone be legally responsible without a valid contract? The answer is "yes," and this is called a "quasi contract."

Sections 68 to 72

• This section talks about certain special relationships that appear to be contracts.

Section 68: Caring for a Minor

• A neighbor spent ₹8 lakh fulfilling a minor's basic needs (food, clothing, shelter).
• When the minor becomes an adult, do they have to return the amount?
• The answer is yes, if they have property.

Section 69: Right to Reimbursement

• If a tenant pays for the landlord's electricity bill, they can be reimbursed.
• Even without a contract, the tenant has a right.

Section 70: Non-Gratuitous Benefit

• If someone leaves a cake at your house and you consume it, do you have to compensate? The answer is yes.

Section 71: Finder of Goods

• If you find goods, you must keep them safe.
• If you incurred expenses, you will be reimbursed.

Section 72: Payment by Mistake

• If money is mistakenly given to someone, it has to be returned.
