Minecraft Building and Progress

Ooh! X marks the two spots. One. Oooh-ooh! And two... Ah! Hello everyone this intro was designed to show you that sometimes things go really well and sometimes things don't and nothing demonstrates that concept more than the off-camera building that I've been doing. I've got in this annoying habit of logging on for like five six minutes, not very long and doing just a smidge of building and I think "Oh that'll never be worth recording". You add those up over the course a day or two and you get this. Substantial progress. Substantial progress and you know what? This is the bit that went really, really well. I just logged on, was like experimenting and take a look at that. Yeah, it's not bright and colourful but it's got some really nice structure, some good details and it's just gone really well but remember, some things don't go well and that is what happened here. I tried very hard to make a red palette wall. I mean look at this one, this lovely blue. You wouldn't even tell that there's a nice mixture because it just all blends well together. Scoot over here and this looks like all the red jams have been smeared over this wall. It's not good. It's not good at all. So some things go well, that one did not. Normally I would take this down and you never would've seen it but this time I thought it'd be good to show you when things don't go quite so well when you're just building on the fly. But before we tackle this, we need to make some progress to the volcano behind me. So I did a little bit of collecting. I've actually got quite a substantial amount of sand and sand and if we take this over to our gunpowder and mix it up. The passive slow creeper farm has actually done fairly well. We've been kind of ignoring the Magic Mountain- Oh my goodness. Ah so my- My explosion's about to be put to shame it would seem. Fine, that's fine. Not a problem. Not a problem, maybe I'll just- Maybe I'll just add to it. We've been saving up gunpowder, that's what we've been doing. We've been saving up gunpowder so that we can do a big explosion to help bring down the mountain but as we can see looks like Impulse has already got other plans. Maybe we will just say oh just doing a little one- I'll just pop these in my pocket for now, ey? Let's go and join them for their explosion. [PEARL] I don't know if you accounted for those extra TNT down there. [IMPULSE] No I didn't, what's happening down there? [GRIAN] Nothing. [PEARL] Ask Grian. [GRIAN] Just trying to help. So I did notice that I've had yet another piece of mail and hopefully this isn't too long because there's nothing that excites you or me more than reading this book. To Grian- Oh it's Permit HQ again. To Grian, we at the Permit Office Headquarters hope the day is finding you well. Oh that's very nice of corporate, isn't it? The board has been in discussions as of late around the lack of traction in the shopping district since our first notice was delivered. In the interest of full transparency, we wish to disclose that one of the actions being currently entertained is a change in leadership. Naturally, we remain hopeful that it won't come to this and all agree that by no means does it have to. Please get deliberate and show the board some real progress soon in order to restore our faith in your ability to carry out the roles and responsibilities of the head of the Permit Office. regards, Permit Office HQ... I'll be honest, since the first letter, I've done nothing. I haven't even been in the Permit Office. I just put on the outfit and declared that I was the king of the Permit Office. So ehm... That's fair to be honest if they've been on the server checking on what I'm doing. I still don't know who this is, by the way. I'm just getting unsigned letters. So let's go to the Permit Office really quickly and just see if anyone's left anything there. Ehm... I guess I see the need for more action being taken by the Permit Office. Some things are going really well. You've got this organised structure of shops along here, you got a sun and then occasionally you've got a death star which is a giant smiley emoji. The shopping district has always had a ton of character and usually is at its best when it's unregulated but there's no denying that the pop up shop pandemic is really quite apparent here. I mean I am guilty of this because I've got a pop up shop. It's right here, it's even pre-pop prismarine. I haven't had a chance to do anything with this. So what do I do? What do the Headquarters want me to do? They just wanna see some- some- progress I guess? I mean look over here, this looks- This looks nice over here. Right, Permit Office. Has anyone even been in here? It's literally- Yeah, nothing's changed here, there's no signs. Turn the lights on real quick. Yeah that's- I mean... [sighs] No one's left a sign, I haven't heard anyone need the Permit Office unless I- What do they want from me? This is kind of stressing me out! Anyway, let's- I'll open the permit shop later on and when there's someone online and just see if I'm still needed? I'm genuinely like a little bit scared. I don't know what to do. The POE POE are supposed to be enforcing some stuff, that's not really happening. Do I need to take some action? Right, let's turn our attentions back to the actual progress of the base because I feel like I just kind of glossed over the progress that I was making over here and it's going really well and I found- and I found the secret sauce. Everyone, so here's what I found out that because this building has a big open side it feels like the interior is the exterior and therefore I want to build it. I've never experienced like wanting to build an interior before but as you can see, I've been, you know, kind of tidying this place up. I've given it some beams I'm just kind of working out a few bits of structure here. Now in these like old docks, these old factory buildings they kind of have the office really like unceremoniously built into a corner and then there's like a staircase upwards so that's what I'm actually building here is- It's not a mistake. This wooden box is like where the office is going to be. So I want to kind of work on this a little bit more because this is a success and that isn't. I am still going to, you know, try and get the colours right on that bit but this is the thing that I've been enjoying at the moment so there's one bit that's kind of missing or maybe even a few little pieces on this side that aren't quite right yet and one of them is, it needs a bit of a pop of colour. It's got all sort of dark brown tones, some grey. The yellow's there but it just needs a little bit of something more. There's a bit of dead space here so what I'm gonna do is create like a bit of a mechanical thing. I don't know what this mechanic mechanical thing does but if by using things like this we can create a mechanism. I think I've got the right idea but the wrong execution. So maybe it needs something more like this. Yes and then I think that looks good. Just a- I don't know what it is. It's just a mechanism of some kind. Maybe I need to do an iron bar here as well. See this is why I do things in five minute bursts. That took a couple of minutes and it's added that like focal point. It stands out. It stands out in that context and you're like "Oh! What's that?" It's kind of been added later on. Maybe that bit's way newer than the wooden structure that it's on. As I was building that I was getting rather annoyed by the endless amount and this has been annoying me for a while, is the guardians around here. They make such a horrendous noise and I just realised I don't have to put up with it. I've been turning off my sounds so I don't have to hear them but I've got these! We have a solution for this sort of problem on Hermitcraft and it's the "Quiet you" "Silence me" tags! So if I just go over. You don't need to be a water hedgehog, you just need to be quiet. Why on earth have I waited so long to figure that out? It makes such a little satisfying noise. Oh man, it's never been so quiet. Alright perfect, I'm feeling like this side is feeling pretty good and now we need to take a little look at this side. Gem said to get rid of the cow pen because it was just temporary from the start so we'll probably do that but maybe we just take half an hour or so to just make some progress on this build and see where we get. What we actually use this building for, I don't know but I've had a great time building it so I'm just gonna continue. So what this is used for not sure yet but I've had a great time building it so we're gonna continue. Let's go! [MUSIC] I think that Gem has been watching me build or something because there's literally a chair, a chair and cake overlooking my building. She's not on now but she's clearly eaten some cake. Weird. Oh no. Oh I've- I've just- How do I get it out? I've done it again. I've done it again! Do you see anything wrong with this build? No? What if I just show you this bit. What if I do this? What if I then go Oohhh! I've built yet another face and it's screaming. It's not even a quiet face, it is screaming. It's just that, look there's two eyes and a mouth. I don't know, it's so accidental and it happens so often. And the only solution of course is to get rid of the eyes. I thought by putting that window there it would help. Anyway, let's review this build that I've just finished and yet again I've done way more than the timelapse would suggest. So I did do this side and it's looking pretty good minus the face, we're gonna fix the face but over here I have actually done a spot of interior. Look at this, I've paid quite a lot of detail and thought about how old this building is, how it would react to the environment. For example up here you can see that there's a different shade of log and it's kind of rotten and there's some holes in the roof. Not only does this let some natural light in but it gives it that sense of age that this building has been here a very long time. So overall this building is coming together so well. It's been the focus of all my attempts lately and then I thought to myself this could be where my portal goes! A portal room! [gasps] Well isn't that just majestic? And then crusher of dreams also known as GeminiTay told me that that's not gonna work because well we'll see but it might become apparent. Yeah. That's why. We're in the bowels of the postal system. There's a reason why our portals have to be up high this season and it's the post. This is why Gem- Gem isn't necessarily the destroyer of dreams. She just speaks the truth. Let's see what everyone's doing. What doin'! So unfortunately that brilliant idea for the portal being in here is a no no no go unfortunately. That would've been perfect! Alright, so Pearl and Impulse are getting netherite. I don't think... We're on episode 20 and I don't have a single piece of netherite. Maybe it's time for an upgrade. Hold on! Oh wow, this episode's come full circle. That TNT I put in my pocket, is it possible? They're doing a netherite competition. So how long is left- How long left on this competition? Alright, he should be around here somewhere. Obviously down below getting netherite. Oh this is such a bad idea. There's a good reason I don't go and get netherite. It's because it's not worth it. That is magnificent work for half an hour. Half an hour in the nether and we are gonna get kitted out with some beautiful netherite armour. So before I say goodbye, I just wanna say I don't really wanna show off this building too much because I'm still working on it but as you can see started filling in the space and I'm just gonna figure out how to make this palette work for me but it's definitely not something I want to talk through on camera because I tried and it didn't work. We have developed this building here into something I think it might be one of my favourite buildings that I've built in the base. This might be a highlight right now. Naturally, we remain hopeful that it won&#39;t come to this and all agree that by no means does it have to. Please get deliberate and show the board some real progress soon in order to restore our faith in your ability to carry out the roles and responsibilities 
of the head of the Permit Office. regards, Permit Office HQ... I&#39;ll be honest, since the first letter, I&#39;ve done nothing. I haven&#39;t even been in the Permit Office. I just put on the outfit and declared 
that I was the king of the Permit Office. So ehm... That&#39;s fair to be honest if they&#39;ve been on the server checking on what I&#39;m doing. I still don&#39;t know who this is, by the way. I&#39;m just getting unsigned letters. So let&#39;s go to the Permit Office really quickly and just see if anyone&#39;s left anything there. Ehm... I guess I see the need for more action being taken by the Permit Office. Some things are going really well. You&#39;ve got this organised structure of shops along here, you got a sun and then occasionally you&#39;ve got a death star which is a giant smiley emoji. The shopping district
 has always had a ton of character and usually is at its best when it&#39;s unregulated but there&#39;s no denying that the pop up shop pandemic is really quite apparent here. I mean I am guilty of this because I&#39;ve got a pop up shop. It&#39;s right here, it&#39;s even pre-pop prismarine. I haven&#39;t had a chance to do anything with this. So what do I do? 
What do the Headquarters want me to do? They just wanna see some- some- progress I guess? I mean look over here, this looks- This looks nice over here. Right, Permit Office. Has anyone even been in here? It&#39;s literally- Yeah, nothing&#39;s changed here, there&#39;s no signs. Turn the lights on real quick. Yeah that&#39;s- I mean... [sighs] No one&#39;s left a sign, I haven&#39;t heard anyone 
need the Permit Office unless I- What do they want from me? This is kind of stressing me out! Anyway, let&#39;s- I&#39;ll open the permit shop later on and when there&#39;s someone online and just see if I&#39;m still needed? I&#39;m genuinely like a little bit scared. I don&#39;t know what to do. The POE POE are supposed to be enforcing some stuff, that&#39;s not really happening. Do I need to take some action? Right, let&#39;s turn our attentions back to the actual progress of the base because I feel like I just kind of glossed over the progress that I was making over here and it&#39;s going really well and I found- and I found the secret sauce. Everyone, so here&#39;s what I found out that because this building has a big open side it feels like the interior is the exterior and therefore I want to build it. I&#39;ve never experienced like
 wanting to build an interior before but as you can see, I&#39;ve been, you know,
 kind of tidying this place up. I&#39;ve given it some beams I&#39;m just kind of working out
 a few bits of structure here. Now in these like old docks, these old factory buildings they kind of have the office really like unceremoniously built into a corner and then there&#39;s like a staircase upwards so that&#39;s what I&#39;m actually building here is- It&#39;s not a mistake. This wooden box is like where the office is going to be. So I want to kind of work on this a little bit more because this is a success and that isn&#39;t. I am still going to, you know, try and get the colours right on that bit but this is the thing that I&#39;ve been enjoying at the moment so there&#39;s one bit that&#39;s kind of missing or maybe even a few little pieces on this side that aren&#39;t quite right yet and one of them is,
 it needs a bit of a pop of colour. It&#39;s got all sort of dark brown tones, some grey. The yellow&#39;s there but it just needs
 a little bit of something more. There&#39;s a bit of dead space here so what I&#39;m gonna do is create like a bit of a mechanical thing. I don&#39;t know what this mechanic mechanical thing does but if by using things like this we can create a mechanism. I think I&#39;ve got the right idea but the wrong execution. So maybe it needs something more like this. Yes and then I think that looks good. Just a- I don&#39;t know what it is. It&#39;s just a mechanism of some kind. Maybe I need to do an iron bar here as well. See this is why I do things in five minute bursts. That took a couple of minutes and it&#39;s added that like focal point. It stands out. It stands out in that context and you&#39;re like &quot;Oh! What&#39;s that?&quot; It&#39;s kind of been added later on. Maybe that bit&#39;s way newer than the wooden structure that it&#39;s on. As I was building that I was getting rather annoyed by the endless amount and this has been annoying me for a while, is the guardians around here. They make such a horrendous noise and I just realised 
I don&#39;t have to put up with it. I&#39;ve been turning off my sounds so I don&#39;t have to hear them but I&#39;ve got these! We have a solution 
for this sort of problem on Hermitcraft and it&#39;s the &quot;Quiet you&quot; &quot;Silence me&quot; tags! So if I just go over. You don&#39;t need to be a water hedgehog, 
you just need to be quiet. Why on earth have I waited so long to figure that out? It makes such a little satisfying noise. Oh man, it&#39;s never been so quiet. Alright perfect, I&#39;m feeling like this side is feeling pretty good and now we need to take a little look at this side. Gem said to get rid of the cow pen because it was just temporary from the start so we&#39;ll probably do that but maybe we just take half an hour or so to just make some progress on this build and see where we get. What we actually
 use this building for, I don&#39;t know but I&#39;ve had a great time building it so I&#39;m just gonna continue. So what this is used for not sure yet but I&#39;ve had a great time building it so we&#39;re gonna continue. Let&#39;s go! [MUSIC] I think that Gem has been watching me build or something because there&#39;s literally a chair, a chair and cake overlooking my building. She&#39;s not on now but she&#39;s clearly eaten some cake. Weird. Oh no. Oh I&#39;ve- I&#39;ve just- How do I get it out? I&#39;ve done it again. I&#39;ve done it again! Do you see anything wrong with this build? No? What if I just show you this bit. What if I do this? What if I then go Oohhh! I&#39;ve built yet another face and it&#39;s screaming. It&#39;s not even a quiet face, it is screaming. It&#39;s just that, look there&#39;s two eyes and a mouth. I don&#39;t know, it&#39;s so accidental and it happens so often. And the only solution of course is to get rid of the eyes. I thought by putting that window there it would help. Anyway, let&#39;s review this build that I&#39;ve just finished and yet again I&#39;ve done way more than the timelapse would suggest. So I did do this side and it&#39;s looking pretty good minus the face, we&#39;re gonna fix the face but over here I have actually done a spot of interior. Look at this, I&#39;ve paid quite a lot of detail and thought about how old this building is, how it would react to the environment. For example up here you can see that there&#39;s a different shade of log and it&#39;s kind of rotten and there&#39;s some holes in the roof. Not only does this let some natural light in but it gives it that sense of age that this building has been here a very long time. So overall this building is coming together so well. It&#39;s been the focus of all my attempts lately and then I thought to myself this could be where my portal goes! A portal room! [gasps] Well isn&#39;t that just majestic? And then crusher of dreams also known as GeminiTay told me that that&#39;s not gonna work because well we&#39;ll see but it might become apparent. Yeah. That&#39;s why. We&#39;re in the bowels of the postal system. There&#39;s a reason why our portals have to be up high this season and it&#39;s the post. This is why Gem- Gem isn&#39;t necessarily the destroyer of dreams. She just speaks the truth. Let&#39;s see what everyone&#39;s doing. What doin&#39;! So unfortunately that brilliant idea for the portal being in here is a no no no go unfortunately. That would&#39;ve been perfect! Alright, so Pearl and Impulse are getting netherite.
