built them up as much as I can possibly build them up in high school but how do we take that next step and get these guys recruited to play for a college team and I have four simple steps that I'm going to give you today that you can follow to get recruited for college so if you are a high school player or you're the parent or coach of a high school player this video is going to be perfect for any way let's get into it step number one to get recruited to play college basketball whether it's D1 D2 or D3 you will not make it to play college basketball if you don't follow this first in foundational step is you have to be so good they can't ignore you and you should read the book so good they can't ignore you by Cal Newport and let me just sum it up like this they are ignoring you if you don't have any looks or any offers or anything you are probably not good enough yet you need to get better you need to practice you need to put in your 10 000 hours you need to work hard and develop your skills so that you can be so good they can't ignore you if you get so good that everybody is talking about you then people are going to hear about you word is going to spread and college coaches will start to look at you and they will start to find you so if you are so good they can't ignore you you will get recruited on a team think about Zion Williamson think about LeBron James think about all the great players who have come through High School in college and now playing the pros they were once so good and still are so good but in high school they were so good that people were talking about them bro we have to go see their games we have to go watch these dudes people who didn't even go to that school people who never went to a basketball game at that certain High School in their life were driving for miles and miles away to see these guys play why they were so good that they couldn't be ignored so step number one so you getting recruited in college is you have to be so good that people are talking about you you have to develop your skills you have to work hard you have to put in the effort and put in the thousands and thousands thousands of hours that it takes to get that good so step number one to getting recruited into college is be so good they can't ignore you steps two and three to get recruited to play college basketball are actually two more practical pieces of advice so these actually come from one of my mentors he was top 100 in the nation back when he was in high school he played division one college basketball we're actually going to have him on the podcast here soon so be on the lookout for that our podcast is the action Athletics podcast Athletics with two x's at the end and we talk all about sports performance basketball et cetera Etc but and I actually train his son as well his son is only 14 years old but I promise you he is going to be on his way to playing division one basketball hopefully for a Big Ten school but I asked him this is me straight to him I said how do I get my guys looked at for college should I reach out to college coaches or is it one of those things where if you're good enough they will hear about you how do you plan on getting your son looked at is it just let his game speak for itself is it play a you is it contact coaches I would love to hear your thoughts how do we get these guys to play college basketball and his response was AAU is the main thing guys need to do to train up to make a legit AAU team in their circuit teams and we'll talk about that in a second he said my son will play on Adidas three stripe circuit 15U and he will play up to 17u so he will get looks from 17u because those kids are the kids that are about to be seniors so they will be playing in front of college coaches he's only 14 so it will look good that he's able to play with 17 year olds and they just look the same as him so then I asked him few more questions about AAU basketball and I said can I just start an AU team and get get looks from college coaches and it turns out that there are certain circuits that all the good AAU teams play for so there's the Nike eybl circuit there's the Adidas circuit the Under Armor circuit and you have to train to try out and make one of these good circuit AAU teams and then they travel around and then they are the teams that get looked at by college coaches and college Scouts however you can join a lower level AAU team and go play in tournaments where these circuit teams will be at and you can possibly play a circuit team so if you're just if you're busting everybody's ass on the circuit team and the college coaches see you that is a good way to get looks too although if you're on a lower level AAU team and you play one of these circuit teams and you guys are just losing by 50 that's not really a good look either but step number two to get recruited to college is you need to start playing AAU basketball step number three to get recruited to play college basketball actually comes from my mentor as well he says that you can get your film from high school and you can send good games and good highlight tapes to schools that you are interested in but it must be realistic schools though you can't be sending film to Pitt and Duke in Kansas it has to be more realistic level of play most coaches emails and phone numbers is on the net and their office number so you can reach out to them at any time and the reason that I believe he said don't be sending films to Pitt or Duke or Kansas is because Pitt Duke and Kansas are probably looking for the guys who are so good that they can't be ignored those super high level division one college basketball teams aren't sifting through a thousand emails to look at everybody's film from every small High School in whatever area they are finding guys that they hear about hey you got to hear about this kid from so and so from this place he is super good you might want to take a look at them they are hearing about the athletes who are very very good so that just takes us back to step number one be so good they can't ignore you if you're being ignored if you don't have any looks or offers or any recruits at all you're probably not good enough yet but you can get better you can train you can practice you can put in the work put in the hours to get there it's all up to you step number four and the final step to getting recruited to play college basketball and realize when I say this is the final step there are a thousand steps that you could try to do to get recruited into college these are just the four that I think are the main ones to get recruited and noticed by colleges is you can go to camps and you can go to showcases where college coaches are going to be at so there are certain camps there are certain showcases that happen every once in a while in certain areas that college coaches go to and all the good players go to to have showcases and they play games and college coaches can notice you that way so make sure that in your area you look for college camps make sure that you look for these showcases that are going to come around every so often and you go entering those and you play in those so that you play in front of college coaches and you get looks anyways guys like I said there's a thousand steps you could take but these are the four steps that I think are the main Steps step number one being the main thing you have to be so good that they can't ignore you you have to continue to develop your skills you have to if you don't continue to develop every single day doing something to work and get better at your craft you are not going to play in college you have to get better so these are the four steps that I think you should be taking to get recruited to play college basketball like this video if you like it subscribe to the channel comment jump junp down below in the comment section if you want a free vertical jump streaming
