hi and thanks for joining me for another job search tip I'm Bart your friendly career coach are you applying for jobs posted on LinkedIn or indeed and getting no response there are a few reasons why you are not seeing results but I will show you what you should do instead hundreds maybe even thousands of your competitors are applying for the same position that you're applying for you have a lot of competition did you notice how many job positions on LinkedIn have the word promoted next to them this is to get more people to apply therefore increasing your competition another reason you may not be getting a response is because the job is not available anymore but the posting is still there a job posting will be displayed on LinkedIn jobs until the employer closes it or after six months if the employer forgets to close it oh and did you know that when you apply for a job on LinkedIn but the employer changes his mind deletes the job posting then changes his mind again and reposts the job posting well if you applied the first time that the job was posted then your application will not be associated with the reposted job so it's the same as if you never applied okay so what should you do to increase your chances of getting a response to your job application if you do apply on LinkedIn or on indeed that is of course if your cover letter and resume is written effectively and customized for that specific job well step one find a job posting on LinkedIn jobs or indeed.com that you like step 2. find the website of the company that is advertising the job step 3. find the careers page or the link to the careers section on that company website step 4 now see if you can find the job posting that you originally found on indeed or LinkedIn on the company career page if it's there submit your application directly on the company website that way your application goes directly to the company's database not LinkedIn or indeed but if you go to the company career page and the job that you're looking for is not there it means the company is not hiring for this job or the job advertisement you found on LinkedIn jobs or indeed is old and has expired but you may be asking what if the company is small and does not have a career page on their website in that situation call the company use the phone and ask if the job is still available I once saw job posting on indeed.com I went and found the company website they didn't have a career page so I called the company and the owner answered the phone that's how small the company was and he didn't know anything about the posting on indeed I'm glad I called the company because otherwise I would have wasted my time submitting my application through indeed and then hoping to get a call back in another situation I applied for a job using LinkedIn jobs I also applied for the same position through the company website because I did locate the job posting and then later when I asked the company if they had received my application through Linkedin they said they never even saw it they called me back because of my direct application through their career page I hope that this tip will help you get more responses to your job applications and as always if you have any comments or questions please make sure to put them in the comments section below this video
