Hi everyone, we are NLM 102 KBB Team 6 and we are going to present Liddy Hall's Core, Care and Cure Theory and its Implication to Nursing Practice. The topics we covered are Brief Definition of Liddy Hall's Three Aspects of Nursing Practice by Karen Ray Cabanet, The Core, Care and Cure in Relation to Nursing Paradigm by Kamaljit and Desiree Manuel, Nursing Practice Example will be presented by Ashna Sudharsanan. Application of core, care, and cure theory to sample nursing practice will be discussed by Janica Ribalde and the relevance and adequacy of the theory to nursing practice today will be explained by Nilamben Patel. Our presentation objectives are to gain an in-depth understanding of Lady Hall's core, care, and cure theory explain and relate Lydia Hall's theory with a four nursing meta-paradigm to prove the implication of core care and cure theory to nursing practice today through our practice example.
Good day everyone, I am Karen Rinkabanit and I will be discussing the three aspects of Lydia Hall's theory on how they interrelate with each other. So for our first aspect is care which is an intimate bodily care of the patient which suggests a comforting and nurturing relationship between the nurse and the patient and for for our second aspect is cure which involves the interventions in treating the patient through the use of medication administration and treatments and this is a shared effort of the nurse and other healthcare professionals so for our third aspect is the core, which is the patient to whom the nursing care is directed. So it involves the therapeutic use of self in communicating with the patient.
So in here, we can see how the care works with the cure and how it would build an interpersonal relationship with the person that will later promote the development of the core. Thank you. I would like. to introduce our next speaker, Ms. Kamaljit, who will be discussing the nursing paradigm. Thank you.
Hello everyone, this is Kamaljit and my topic is nursing metaparadigm. First, I describe the nursing metaparadigm as a way to distinguish nursing from other disciplines. The purpose of having a nursing metaparadigm is to develop a framework that defines nursing specific body of knowledge. and to establish nursing as a standalone discipline. Fawcett originally developed a four-set of nursing metaparadigms that includes human being, environment, health, and nursing.
First of all, human being. Hall defined the person as the totality of an individual who has the ability to learn and grow. She said that every human being is different and their care and their approach to need is also different.
Here, we are talking about the human being those are receiving treatment are ill or under the care of nurses and their families and friends. Cure core and cure theory is also related to this meta paradigm because the center of focus is patient by maintaining his health and his surrounding. The second aspect is health. Health is defined as the self-awareness of an individual who has the capacity to make the seasoned to themselves to achieve wellness.
She emphasized the need to explore the person behavior to strengthen maturity and self-identity that will aid to personally overcome their problem. As we discussed earlier that every human being is unique so their approach to health is also unique. Every person perceives health in a very different way.
Hello guys, how are you? I hope you're doing well and enjoying the snow weather. I am Desiree Tavili-Manuel and I'm going to present the nursing metaparadigm of environment and nursing. to as conducive environment that helps us develop ourselves and achieve self-awareness. It extends beyond the patient's physical surroundings that includes both social and emotional like their families and friends.
In nursing, Identifying the true aspects of Rituale which are the core, care and cure, in which intertwined and works together, it will achieve the wellness of the patient. Thank you. Hello everyone. My name is Ashna Sudarshanan and as a part of NLM 102 presentation, I'm going to explain about the nursing practice example which is related to the Lydia Hall theory, care, cure and call.
And I hope you all understand the purpose, objectives and concepts of this theory. And this practice example will help you to understand more about this theory and how can you apply that to this theory. So let's get started.
It's an imaginary case story. So we can consider a patient. His name is Mr. Yozo. He is a 15 year old lawyer. So he has a history of hypertension and he smokes two packets of cigarettes per day and he usually drinks two bottles of beer every night.
But he thought that would help him to fall asleep. He is living with his wife. she is also a hypertension patient.
So one day during his court session while he was doing the sitting he was noticed that he has some kind of slurred speech with the facial asymmetry and later he developed a left side of the body weakness and he went to the hemiparesis. So he was immediately brought to an emergency department and he was diagnosed as... is chemic stroke so he had to went so many neurovascular imagines like CT scan MRI scan all the blood labs everything then he was admitted to the stroke unit and he had to went a lot of treatments to this hospital and finally he recovered something but not completely and he was transferred to the rehabilitation center so this is his scenario then later Janika will explain how this case scenario this case study and how can we apply the care cure core theory of Lydia Hall to this case scenario thank you hi everyone I'm Janika Ribalde and I'm going to talk about the application of the theory core care and cure with our example nursing practice our given case is a 59 year old male patient post-stroke with left-sided hemiparesis and dysarthria.
In our case study, we utilized the nursing process in order to show you how the core care and cure is being applied through our nursing intervention. So our nursing diagnosis is impaired physical mobility related to left-sided hemiparesis, secondary to cerebrovascular accident infarct. Our goal of intervention is... is to prevent the risk of immobility, prevent dependent disabilities, and aid the patient in restoring, preserving, or maintaining as much mobility and functional independence as possible.
In our interventions, we divided it into three sections where we identified the core, care, and cure aspects of our nursing intervention. So the first one is the core, which is the therapeutic use of self. to increase patients awareness. In here, we help the patient set realistic goals.
We provide emotional support and encouragement. We reinforce structured training using cognitive perceptual retraining, visual imagery, reality orientation, and curing procedures to compensate for losses. We also support patients by observing performance and progress, giving positive feedback, and conveying attitude of confidence and hopefulness. The second is the care aspect, intimate bodily care in which we focus on the physical body of the patient. Our interventions under these aspects are the proper positioning to prevent contractures, relieve pressures, and attain body alignment.
We also provide full range of motions like four or five times a day to maintain joint abilities. And lastly is our cure, which is the medical care aspect. This is the shared effort of nurse and other healthcare professionals.
Under this aspect is the administration of prescribed medication. collaboration with other professionals like our physiotherapist who is the primarily responsible for our devising plan of physical intervention to prevent complications such as contractures and teach patients to regain balance and the use of the affected limbs. Another one is our occupational therapist who works towards the promoting independence in the activities of daily living including personal care.
care like shower or washing and dressing and promoting participation in society such as through work or driving and our speech therapist or language therapist who assist in the issues of swallowing and communication so as we can see in the given practice example the theory core care and curious addressing the totality of of the patient's need in the post-acute cases. The three aspects are intertwining each other to achieve a total and optimum health for the body. It's not just merely addressing the disease, but also the social, the psychological, and the physical aspects as well.
As what the World Health Organization stated, health is not only about the body, but also the health of the person. the absence of disease but instead the sum of physical mental and social well-being of a person that would be all thank you the next topic which is the implication and adequacy of the theory the nursing practice today will be discussed by me lamb and Patel thank you Hi everyone, my name is Nilan Patel and here I would like to explain the adequacy and implication of the theory core care and cure to present the nursing practice by using the gene and grammars analytic steps. First step is clarity and structure.
This theory is very clear and very well in consistent manner in this theory author identify patient disease and careful definition of term and logically applied in the 3c of the theory which are care cure and core as a nursing aspect she also used overlapping diagram to explain the care core and cure sub-concept of the theory in an effective manner. The second analytic step is simplicity. This theory explained very well in a simple and logical manner.
So nurses can easily understand the sub-concepts and can use it in actual nursing practice. In general, it is a third analytic step. So this theory is applicable in patients with chronic illness, in the rehabilitative process or any other non-emergent cases.
Also, it can be applied in the average group in the community. This is the positive aspect. of the uh generality step uh accessibility of the theory is very strong for nurses nurses can use this theory for patients with the rehabilitation or long-term illnesses one of the positive aspect of the theory is very common comprehensive so nurses can easily understand it and apply in the patient care plan to achieve the better health outcome.
It can also be helpful in future nursing research process. And the last step of the Chinen Grammar's analytic process is the importance. The significance of the theory in nursing practice is remarkable because this theory is not only focused on the patient but also the focus on the disease and the whole.
human being so it emphasizes the interconnection of the nurse and the patient and other health professional to work together to achieve the better health outcome so this is my part of our presentation thank you
