In this lesson, You will learn and understand that scientists possess positive attitudes and values that help them in their study of nature. Are you ready? Do you know that scientists possess positive attitudes and values that help them in their study of nature? The same attitudes and values led Filipino and foreign scientists scientist in making their discoveries and inventions. You may not be a scientist, but these attitudes and values will help you solve real-life problems too.
What are scientific attitudes and values? Scientific attitudes and values are behavior or characters that a scientist should possess. What are these attitudes and values? These are the scientific attitudes and values.
Curiosity. Curiosity is the desire to learn, to think, to inquire, and to discover. A scientist constantly asks questions, finding answers to these questions, and discovering new things. Objectivity Objectivity means gathering true observations and not hearsay.
A scientist has no biases. He can look at things without being affected by his feelings and not allowing them to affect his judgment. Open-mindedness. Open-mindedness is the ability to accept new ideas and information. A scientist is willing to listen to the ideas and suggestions of others.
Honesty. Honesty is being truthful with all the observations and experimental results. A scientist does not claim others' work as his own. Humility Humility is the ability to accept responsibility when wrong. He should know that he is not perfect and could commit mistakes.
A scientist is free from arrogance and false pride. Patience. Patience is the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.
A scientist waits calmly for the result since most scientific study takes time. A scientist must be ready to spend more time working on a problem without complaint to get the most accurate results. Determination. Being determined means persistence and having the willpower to finish a task that was started. A scientist is persistent in his endeavors and not give up.
Acceptance of failure. Scientific investigations are not always successful. Accept failure.
Failure may be considered as a kind of success to a scientist. Failing in one's work means finding a new way to resolve a problem. Once again, these are the scientific attitudes and values.
