Guide to Crochet a Stylish Skirt

hey guys so how are you doing today we are going to be doing a skirt and you would be needing your yarn any yarn that you have access to if your yarn is not a medium weight make sure you make sure you double your strands for example people that use yayay yarn make sure you double your strands okay and then you're going to be needing your tip maybe maybe not maybe you know your measurements i don't know and scissors and pin for this i'm gonna be using pin five millimeters this has been h or eight so it's a big pin so i'm going to be using this big pin because it's a long skirt okay and you need two two colors of yarn for this you need two colors of yarn i'm going to be using green and yellow you can alternate your colors as you want so this is mainstay It is 397 yards which is 363 meters. It's 7 ounces. Very heavy.

Not very heavy. Medium weight. Okay.

So you can use anything similar to this or this if you can find it. You can find this yarn in the US Walmart. So I'm going to start by making the first panel of the skirt. It's a skirt. A long skirt.

And I'll start from up to down. So first, I have taken my measurement round. My waist is 31 inches.

So I'm going to do 15-15 for the front and for the back. Okay, that's 30 inches front and back. Then I'll complete it.

So now I'm going to do 15 inches of chains. Okay, so I've gotten our 15 inches. chains and we are just going to make our first so now i'm just going to make my three chains as my first um double crochet and double crochet on the fourth chain okay so i skip three at the beginning then I don't show on the fourth chain and now I'm just going to put double crochet on each of these chain stitches till the end so okay I'm at the end and it's quite simple I'm just going to do three chains that's three chains and our turn you're not adding or reducing you're just going to do till you get to the end again with double crochet stitches this is the waist region and you're going to increase just at the hip region which You would also decrease when you get to the thighs. That's the knee regions. Okay.

I'm saying this because I might not really really show you guys in details. I might but I might not. So this is the waist region. We are going to continue like this for at least 5 inches. Before we start increasing scantily.

And we are going to do 2. panels of these um skirts so this is the front panel we also do the back panel which is absolutely the same you can decide to increase more for the back panel if the bum bum or the back side of the person is um bigger than the front side but i'll just say that you do the same thing for the front So for now, I'm just going to keep doing this when I get to the end. When I get to the end, I'll just do three chains and I'll turn back and come to this other side. Zigzag, zigzag till I get like four to five inches. Then I'll start increasing and I'll show you guys how I increase. Okay, so this is how far I have come.

i did not increase i have not increased and this is like seven inches or seven and a half but now i want to tell you something you have a choice to increase or not because when stretched it's actually you know you can actually this can go to your hip like it can pass through your hip depending on how big your hip is you see i started with 15 i started with 15 or let's say 16 and right now this place is like 18 or 19 and when stretched it is actually more than that it's already like 20 and i have not increased It's just because this is chain. So when you keep going, the stitches are bigger than the chain. You understand? So it automatically makes this place bigger.

We have a choice. My waist is 32. 16 plus 16 is 32. That means the waist is okay. If I should make two panels of this, it's going to be perfect.

Right? So, my hip is 42. We have 20 here. Like, the length of this is 20. So, I have a choice to increase or not increase.

In this case, I might not. I would not increase. Okay?

But I want to explain something to you so that you can understand that. Okay, yeah, you can increase. If you want... want this is a size large okay this is a large size for those that are doing small size for a medium size with the waist of 27 how to do a medium size start with 27 waists okay that means your first chain would be around 13 13 or 13 and a half inches that means your your startup chain will be from year to year okay 13 inches or 13 and a half inches and then you keep going now you get to this level where you're getting to your hip and you started small like this make sure you increase how do you increase you increase on one row twice you increase like here and yeah and then the next row do not increase then the second row after the one you do not increase increase once you do that for like eight rows that means you're increasing for four different rows but skipping one row without increasing so for like example if you want to increase on this rule you increase year and year for example scantily then the next row you're not increasing then the next row where you want to increase you're not increasing here and yet again you're increasing at the middle because you do not increase at the middle then the next row you're not increasing while the other row you're increasing twice again then the next row you're not increasing then the other row you increase once again and that would be enough okay that will make the hip to be coffee and then you have to reduce when you start getting to the to the knee length the knee length you start reducing and when you want to reduce you reduce the same way you add it that means you reduce on two rows the next one don't reduce the other one you inc you reduce you understand so for me i will not be increasing i'll just be going if i want to increase i'll just increase once or twice on two different rows skipping one rule i don't know if you guys understand what i'm saying but what i'm saying is that this stretches and this can enter my waist so i have no reason to increase so i'm just going to keep going see when i want to reduce i would reduce okay okay guys so this is how long i have made it and um it's 16 inches right now i'm going to start reducing like i said i did not increase but I'm going to reduce I do not increase like I said because this place expands more than the waist so I still have that curve that I'm looking for so when I wear it definitely is going to be the way I want it i want it to be so now i'm going to reduce but i'm going to reduce on just like three rows when i say rows you already know this is a row this is a row this is a row okay so now i'll reduce on this next row i'm going just one place i don't know if i should do it now So I'm going to reduce right here and then the next row I will not reduce. Then the next one I will reduce in two places.

So I'm at the middle and now I'm just going to reduce. two videos here by doing double crochet without completing it i have two left i'm still going on the next one to the double crochet that way i have made two stitch to become one and i'll just take it and i'm just going to that do that for just that place and i'll just crochet till i get to the Normally, double crochet to the end. So now I have reduced here.

And you can basically not see where I just... You cannot see what I just did. I just done this one and this one to be one stitch.

And that's just one for here. Then the next one, I would not reduce. That's because this is not too big and it's not too small. If this place was too wide, for example, if my waist was like... If my hip was...

48 and my waist is 37 okay like for those of you that are doing 26 waist and your hip is like 42 that means your waist to be this small and your hip needs to be this big then what you have to reduce okay you have to reduce then you have to reduce aggressively that means you have to reduce at least two on a particular row and two on the next row just like that you understand what i'm saying but because it's not that bad i'm just i can decide to just do it straight without increasing or reducing it's still gonna be fine so these are the basic rules i'm just going to go ahead and complete it till the end hey guys so this is how far i have come and you can see the shape forming already you can see this place is smaller than the side which shows that this side is the up and this side is the down so in total right now i have um 34 the length is 34 and i think um a full length of a long skirt is like 40 but because this stretch i think we are almost there so now to end it i'm going to make two more rows but for the two more rows i want to show you guys what i'll do for um okay so i want to show you guys what i'm going to do for these two more rows now at the beginning i want to make how do i even explain i want it to be i don't want it to be a sharp v at this end or a sharp v at this end of the skirt okay i want it to be round so because of that i'm going to reduce at this end for the next two rows so I'm going to turn and reduce. One, two, and I'm reducing right there. Now when I'm coming back then I'm going to crochet till I get to this end. See I have reduced here so I'm going to crochet till I get to this end then I'll reduce two. So I'm three places to the end and now I'm just going to reduce here and here making this one two space to be one space.

don't complete it two then you complete everything together then go and lock it up with the double crochet now if i leave it like this it's not going to what i want to achieve is not going to show so what i need to do now is i'm going to do single chain a chain and now i'm going to do Single crochet right here another single crochet Then I would start with my double crochet. So I did two single crochet at the edge. Then I started with a double crochet so two single crochet at this end and two single crochet at this other end too Remember we did one chain then we go to the next one we did single crochet, single crochet. Okay so this one stitch, two stitch and three stitch are all single crochet.

So this first one that we did one chain that's our first single crochet. So when we get to this end we are going to do three single crochet at the end. So I'm three spaces to the end.

One, two, three and the chain would make it four. So I'm going to make my last double crochet then I'll go single crochet. single crochet single crochet so now I'm going to stop right here I can decide to go back but if I want to go back at this point I'll still do single crochet single crochet single crochet till like year before I start let me show you what i'm saying so if you decide to go back i mean you can do just these things that i have shown you and you can end it here but if you decide to go back don't start with um double crochets start with single crochets so we're going to do single crochet one two and the single crochet will be more than the other ones you did that means one two three and four and now you can continue with your double crochet so now i'm going to continue doing double crochet till i get to this end then um since i did one two three four five single crochet i'm going to do one two three four five six single crochet at this other end okay so i'm at the end right now and i'm like Five to six steps till the end and I'm going to do my single crochets. So I'm going single crochet, single crochet, single crochet right here, single crochet there too. and there then the last one being the chain our single crochet on it okay so that's done you can see the side is somehow you might not see right now but you see later So now we are going to work on the sides.

Okay. This is the sides. And I just want to make sure you get the seam.

So I'm going to put single crochets in this place. But two. single crochet for each rows okay so um remember that each row is actually three single crochet yeah three single crochet when you're turning but i usually put two single crochet and where i feel like okay i need to put three single crochet i'll put it but you don't have to necessarily put three single crochet for all of this you can put for some but don't put for all so now i'm just going to do single crochet in the next stitch single crochet in the next stitch two single crochet in the next stitch move to the next and do single crochet so i'm going to do this round even till yeah you don't necessarily need to do for the waist but i'm going to do round even for the waist then i'll come back here and do the same thing right yes single crochets then you need two panels of this this is the this can be the front or the back so you need two panels else of this so that you can join them together i'm scared to be ready i'll show you when i want to join them and what i'll do to join them okay so this is how far we've come and um it's like 34 to 35 inches long it's 35 inches long and um right now i'm just going to this is the top okay and this is the downside this is the waist and this is the leg side so i will just put in my other color at the waist region and i'll do a double crochet down but remember we've already done single crochet on it like this to make it smooth so i'll put in my color okay I'll put in my color right here this is the West's remember so I would crochet double crochet on all the stitches without increasing or decreasing so three chains as my first double crochet then double crochet down so i'm going to do double crochet down like this from here down even till yeah round back to this place okay so i have done my double crochet round i started from the waist and i moved down i started from the waist and i moved down i went round and this is done so the next thing i'm going to do right now is to do single crochet from here down to this place now you have a choice to close it up all with single crochet but i decided to end like two inches before the end Just because that is how I like it.

Okay, so you can decide to close it all up But for personal preference I decided to do it still Maybe two inches to the end. So I'm just going to put in my yarn I'm still using my big pin pin 5.5 and I'm just going to put in my yarn of the color I want to use I'll make single crochet on all the stitches without increasing So single crochet on all the stitches down On both side, so I'll make this single crochet or make it down to this place Then I also do the same thing for this side. Okay And remember that we have two panels of this. So whatever you're doing on this side, you're doing on the other panels.

Because you're going to join it. So we are working on two sides of this. This thing is supposed to be two panels, okay?

So you have to do this two times. So this is single crochet down to the foot from the waist down on all the sides. guys so we've made two sides of the same thing like i said earlier and now we are just going to join them with single crochet stitch so you join them with the back you know when you're sewing something you have to make sure that is the back you're sewing so i'm going to join the sides the green parts where i did from top to the down that is the only place i would join okay So I'm putting in my yarn my hook I'm using small pin because that's what is going to be easier for me I cannot use the fat pin with a fat head and be choking everywhere it's going to stress me out so so I just put it in and do a single crochet like that I'm going to just watch carefully take from one side and take from the other side and join it together take from one side take from the other side and join them together with a single crochet I'm going to do this till the end on side and the other side so I'm taking just one loop each from each side so this side I'll take one loop this side I'll take one loop two and I'll join them together so i'm going to join the side together down and this other side together down and our sketch will be ready and work on the waist oh people so i have joined it and this is how it looks right now So now the stuff, the waist is very big and I don't like it.

So I'm just going to use, I didn't want to use elastic, but that have resulted to me using elastic. So I just, I'm just going to use my elastic like this. This elastic is my size. You see, it's an elastic, so it stretches.

It doesn't need to be like, you know. So. so um i'm going to sew this thing this needle okay so i'm just going to crochet around this elastic so drop this out and in this case i'll use green for the waist instead of yellow like i did for the skirt or for the blue so i'm just going to do this so it's all single crochet around the elastic this is not an easy part but it is very nice when you complete it so you just put in your yarn and put in your hook and take in your yarn just it put in your hook take out your yarn take out your yarn put in your hook take out your yarn take out your yarn and that's just it you just do this round the elastic make it until it's very thick that you cannot see you can no longer see the elastic so that's just what we are going to do right here okay guys so we are the final part of these and we are just going to put I'm just going to put this band on this kit okay so we just have to do it from the back side because I cannot push it like this you is the front side so you have to turn it you have to turn your work bring your waist up it's the back side now so you turn this other one to the back side and you put in your pin anywhere you can start it anywhere okay you put in your pin like this and you take out this yarn the yarn that you're using to crochet and you bring it out so we are going to do single crochet from this side to this side Single crochet.

So we are taking single crochet Yeah that means you're taking from here and From the band one from the band and one from the skirt This thing but one thing you need to remember is that this place is long But this place is short But the number of stitches that entered in this place can actually fit this place so in most cases there's no need for you to skip like there's no need for you to twist it like this and put it in one place okay because the goal is to stretch okay the goal is to stretch and bring it back so you have to put one stitch you have to take one stitch from here and the other one stitch from the other side you're not multiplying you're not reducing you're just doing the same thing so that's just it I'm just going to go ahead and put this thing the way i'm already doing you can see this side there's no stitch this thing yeah there's no uh how do i even call it there's no knobs yeah yeah you have to just like use your head okay it's difficult on this side more than it is on this side that you have stitches and knobs yeah you can see the stitch and the knobs here but this place there's no stitch i know but you already know that yeah is three because one two three is long enough for three this is like two and this one's a one one you understand what i'm saying so that is it so we're going to go one year go to the next place one because that's a double crochet double crochet is three three um knobs that's three stitches for a double crochet while these other ones are just one one you just take everything i'm taking everything but you can take just once one um chain but because it's the waist i want it to be thick and strong i don't want the rope to cut or anything so i'm taking everything when i say everything the whole stitch you know each stitch have front and back loop so i'm taking the two loops from both sides two loops from both sides so two loops here two loops on this other side i'm taking everything so yeah that's it for this skirt i'll just go now and do it like this like i am doing you can see i'll do it completely and the skirt will be ready i'll wear it and show you guys hi guys so this is how it looks what do you guys think it's perfect so yeah this is it thank you so much for watching see you in my next video bye don't forget to like and share
