hello my name is Randy Dobson I'm an instructor here in the Houston Texas area and this video will be covering the donut command in AutoCAD as I always jokingly say with my students in a classroom and said the dough when you use the donut command it will ask to draw a picture of a police officer you know that's one of my little jokes I'll have a lot of respect for the police and it's just a little joke between police and donuts but anyway under your draw command over here you will see the donut and it will create an object that has the the properties of a donut you will notice here it's asking for an inside diameter I'm just gonna type in 1 and then an outside diameter of 3 and click and there you have it just to kind of show you the diameter I did the first diameter here in the middle which was 2 and then I did a 1 for the outside let me go to F 2 here and the sex I did one in 3 I'm not sure why it's picking it up like that but you can change this width if I wanted to be a thinner dark area I could just go to donut I'm just gonna hit the I'm sorry let me go to draw go to donut and if I specify an inside diameter of 3 and an outside diameter 4 see now across here is 3 and then across here is 4 let me see if this will let me see if I could just to mention something here real quick so you can kind of see it's actually going to the go into the center of it but I want to do it like this there's your four and then I'm not doing an exact but you get the point of it this is your three so it requires two pieces of information now in our assignments you will find this best whenever you need to make a dot you may have two lines crossing and you need to put a little dot there well you just go to donut and ask for an inside diameter you give it zero and now if you don't want to type in a number you can just kind of show a distance if you see me up here I want my donut to be from here to here and there you know it's drawn it and it will keep drawing it for as long as I want okay until I hit escape and then if I start doing that again like other commands it will still be set with zero and the dimensions that I had before okay so you have to go in and change them but it's a nice little command but this is the one that you're used to just create a solid dot such as it is or you know if you're working on a drawing that you need to draw a nut bolt and washer this you know you have different types of washers this could be a tire on an automobile just understanding that it requires two pieces of information it needs an inside diameter and an outside it doesn't give you the option of radius you have to do a diameter nice little nice little command and again it's something just to add to your your toolkit and that concludes this video on donut thank you
