Occupied Bed Making Demonstration Notes

Initial Setup

  • Communicate with the patient (Ms. Cathy) about the bed change

Preparing Linens

    • Fitted sheet
  • Remove the pillow and set on a clean surface

Removing Soiled Linens

  • Remove old fitted sheet and pads by:
    • Rolling them under the patient
    • Push down to slide them as far as possible
  • Clean bed surface if needed before placing new linens

Placing Clean Linens

  • Apply a new fitted sheet:
    • Place on the clean side, tuck under the dirty linens
    • Ensure the pad is centered under the patient’s bottom

Patient Repositioning

  • Remove and safely dispose of soiled linens:

Completing the Bed

  • Change pillowcase using clean methods:
    • Inside-out approach to avoid contamination

Top Sheet and Blanket

  • Place top sheet and blanket without touching the floor
  • Tuck them in using a mitered corner technique:
    • Tuck the end
    • Fold side material as a triangle
    • Tuck remaining fabric
    • Pull down to form a neat crease
