Initial Setup
Communicate with the patient (Ms. Cathy) about the bed change
Adjust the bed:
Raise to working height (waist level)
Lower the head of the bed for easier access
Preparing Linens
Stack clean linens in use order:
Flat sheet
Fitted sheet
Remove the pillow and set on a clean surface
Removing Soiled Linens
Remove old fitted sheet and pads by:
Rolling them under the patient
Push down to slide them as far as possible
Clean bed surface if needed before placing new linens
Placing Clean Linens
Apply a new fitted sheet:
Place on the clean side, tuck under the dirty linens
Ensure the pad is centered under the patient’s bottom
Use accordion folding method to tuck linens in
Patient Repositioning
Instruct the patient to roll back over the clean linens
Remove and safely dispose of soiled linens:
Roll linens on themselves
Dispose immediately in the soiled linen bin
Completing the Bed
Finish fitting clean sheets:
Ensure linens lay flat and untucked properly
Change pillowcase using clean methods:
Inside-out approach to avoid contamination
Top Sheet and Blanket
Place top sheet and blanket without touching the floor
Tuck them in using a mitered corner technique:
Tuck the end
Fold side material as a triangle
Tuck remaining fabric
Pull down to form a neat crease
Final Adjustments
Offer to adjust the patient’s bed position for comfort
