The 5 Steps of 5S

1. Sort (Sari)

2. Set in Order (Seiton)

3. Shine (Seiso)

  • Routine Tasks: Mopping, dusting, general maintenance.

    • Maintain a pleasant work environment.

4. Standardize (Seiketsu)

  • Action: Create standards and rules for carrying out the first three steps.
  • Tools: Schedules, charts.
  • Objective: Ensure consistent application of sorting, setting in order, and shining.

5. Sustain (Shitsuke)

  • Action: Continue the 5S practices over time through self-discipline.
  • Objective: Regular training and audits to ensure ongoing adherence to the 5S methodology.
