The Baltimore Classification Scheme has seven classes of viruses that we see here, three that have DNA genomes and four with RNA genomes. You can see several different viruses identified here, such as poliovirus right here, which is a class four. influenza that is a class 5, and HIV, which is a class 6. For our upcoming lecture modules, we will explore the seven different categories using some bacteriophages and some eukaryotic viruses, and also with that, the unique replication strategies for each of those.
However, you should know that the Baltimore Scheme of Classification is just one attempt. organizing viruses and there are many more
