Hello. In this display of a hyper fixation gone horribly wrong, I'm going to try my hardest to put all the events from the banned ghosts lore in timeline order in a concise and in-depth way, covering events, albums, and their meanings, so that if you want to learn the basics or want to refresh yourself before right here right now releases, this should cover it. Our story begins with a rather vague satanic cult called the Clergy which is headed by Sister Imperator. the band Ghost being its public relations arm, trying to gain more followers to their unholy cause via their music. It would also be wise to mention here that the bands are made out of one singular papar emeritus, and the ghouls who play the instruments, who also in the clergy do things such as taxes.
The cult has, at this point, been operating for an unknown period of time, as a foulest back we go is the 1960s. Speaking of which... In, potentially, the late 1950s to early 60s, Sister Imperator brings Nahil into the fold as the first Papa Emeritus at Satanic Party, which is shown in the Dance Macabre music video.
Imperator delicately marks Nahil with a white left eye, becoming a telltale sign of the Emeritus bloodline. Under his reign as Papa, he would release the two-track EP Seven Inches of Satanic Panic, with the songs being about having sex with Satan in Kids the Go-Go. Takes two, luckily, he wants to do you two.
Satan, Lucifer, a school of sin. And receiving head in Mariana Cross. Just like I'm married.
With this possibly being a song from Nahil about Imperator, while the Holy Mary in the song is not referring to Jesus' mother, but Mary Magdalene, the prostitute disciple of Jesus. Then, at the September 13th, 1969 Whiskey A Go-Go show, while performing Kiss The Go-Goat, Papa Nahil kisses two fans whilst being in an obvious relationship with Imperator, who is watching from above and rightfully storms off. The band fell silent after 1969 and took the correct time to strike, which just so happens to be 41 years later in March of 2010, when the clergy releases the demos to Prime Mover, Elizabeth, Death Now, and Ritual on MySpace.com.
Opus Eponymous releases 7 months later on the 18th of October 2010 and is a hit. Opus Eponymous has the ongoing theme of a coming evil that ghosts the false prophet for, which can be shown in the song Con Clevi Condio. The Trinity here clearly refers not to the Christian Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but instead the unholy Trinity of the Antichrist, Satan and the False Prophet. This album was recorded and released under the new Papa, Primo Emeritus.
...to the first son of Nihil due to his apparent age, who made his first appearance on the 23rd of October 2010 during the Hammer of Doom festival in Würzburg, Germany. Little is known about him and his personality, a true mystery until his departure and handing the responsibility of being Papa to his younger brother Secondo on December 15th 2012 at Linköping, Sweden. I am Papa Emeritus in Secondo.
In Secondo's time as Papa, he released Infestissumum, in which the vibe and meaning of the album has gone from heralding an impending doom to sexual desire and the birth of the Antichrist, such as in the track of Gigolo Haramagito. Still the war will somehow get you, there's daughters of men destroying you. While on stage, Papamaratus II did give a spooky and reserved kind of vibe.
However, he was described as a He is a miserable, wounded and bitter old man and he is washed up. was booted from being Papa due to failing his duties of Churches opened. Zero. Governments toppled. Zero.
World leaders converted to the cause. Zero. Probably because he was too busy having parties and showing his bare ass and balls on screen. and was replaced with his three-month younger brother on June 3rd, 2015, on stage at Linkshipping Sweden once again.
Terzo Emeritus, who in his first appearance wore the same makeup as his brother. My best in-law reason guess for this is as a tribute to his brother. Ghost's third album, Meliora, released August 21st, 2015, and is about the absence of God or faith, but a religious group reaching out and saying they have all the answers and persuading you to join them, which can be shown well in the song, Ceres.
It's eternal Can't you see that you're lost? Can't you see that you're lost without me? Terza's time as ghost... As ghost?
Terza's time as papa went incredibly well, Terza being regarded as charming and hot because I mean... Just look at him. When one person meets another person, sometimes it's just unavoidable.
They just have to... ... ...
... ... ... ... ...
... ... He was also able to win a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for Cerise. Hello. We are Ghost.
Thank you so much for this. This is a big, big thing for us, obviously. And, you know, a nightmare has just turned into a dream.
So, thank you all for that. Thank you everybody involved and thank you for voting. Now, go party!
Thank you, Karls-Alan. Amen. During a ritual on the Pope Star tour on September 30th, 2017, while singing the song Monstrance Clock, this happened.
Come together, who's in first place? Who's in first place? Come together I'm not alone, I'm a zero I'm definitely going to start now Papa Nehil makes his first appearance in 48 years. No longer the once charismatic and youthful Papa, but a sickly old man wheeling around an oxygen canister and wielding a cane. Who on this stage spoke entirely in Italian?
To incredibly roughly translate while still sounding cool, he says I am Papa Emeritus Zero. The time for partying is over. The Dark Ages have begun.
this marks the beginning of sede vacante for ghost as there is no current acting papa as nahil is far too old and sickly yet there is no heir to the mitre back at the ministry sister imperator and nahil discuss needing a new frontman of the band Sir, Sister Imperator, Mushiner Hill's chagrin suggests an until now hidden character. He's here! Well hello, Papa.
You're looking well. Cardinal Copia to be sworn in as the frontman of the band, which leads to a semi-heated discussion between Nihil and Imperator. You cannot be serious. He is not part of the bloodline. With all due respect, you are all out of progeny.
The Cardinal is our next senior most member. He's been your right hand man. Very well.
It is done. And now, with Kopi a sworn in as the new frontman of Ghast, Sister Imperator talks to Nahil about seeing his sons. Boys, you're being reinstated. You're going back on the road.
You're going back in full regalia. You're going to be back in the spotlight forever. See you later, boys. Papas 1, 2, and 3 have been killed off.
Did... did Tozo's foot just... Nah, surely not.
Although Imperator wasn't lying that they'd go back on the road as they were put in the veneration of relics you could see if you got a VIP pass before a ghost ritual. Copia officially became the frontman live on April 6th, 2018. And our first real introduction of him on stage is that he's a... Interesting man, who rides around the ministry on his tricycle and is a royal pain in the hill's ass. I'm sorry about that, Papa. The Ministry is not your playground, Cardinal.
Fine. Fine. Ghost's fourth album, Prequel, released on the 1st of June 2018, and is about surviving a plague that killed most of the people around you.
And this can be shown well in the song Rats. Now all your loved ones And all your kin Will suffer punishment Beneath the wrath of God Never to forgive, never to forgive. Tragedy struck when during the final ritual of the prequel tour cycle on March 3rd 2020, Nahil emerged on stage, saxophone in hand as he had done before in this tour. But this time after he finishes his high note, he stumbles back into the smoke and collapses. Kopi arrives on scene on his tricycle expecting a normal show and entrance, but discovers that the hill has passed.
Oh Papa Emeritus IV takes stage in full regalia. Nihil was added to the veneration of relics along with his fallen sons. Ghost's fifth album, Impera, was released the 1st of March 2022 and is about the rise and falls of empires, with the rise being shown in the call to arms at his twenties.
and the fall being shown in respite on the Spitefields. It also becomes known in this era that Copia is the bastard son of Nahil and Imperator, which explains why Imperator burned a lady who was smoking near her with her own cigarette, and started beating her as she was pregnant with Copia. However, after seeing Nahil's unfaithfulness, She had the child in secret, giving him special treatments such as the status of cardinal for presumably most of his life. I can't call you Papa.
That's fine. But you see why I can't call you Papa, right? I think so.
Okay. Because you're the old guy. Well, yeah.
I know. I mean, you'll always be. See, you'll always be my little cardi.
being promoted to frontman and being given a steady supply of juice boxes in NES games. Coppia still occasionally talks to his dad's ghost, even congratulating his album re-release going gold. Even though their relationship was usually rocky and tense, He's trying to be nice, even if it fails at points. It's a gold record for your old shitty song.
Well, it's actually quite good, but it's not that well. Anyway, the kid. Excuse me for a second.
It's my old man. He never was much of a pop-up to me, but... It's okay. Also, with the talk of Nihil, I should probably mention that he straight up gets resurrected almost every show to play the sax in Miasma, and immediately dies again, which is just so funny to me. Up until now I've tried to lay out a basic but detailed timeline of Ghost and their main albums, but now I have to talk about one plot thread that still has yet to be solved and in my opinion is the most intriguing and at points a genuinely heartbreaking one.
On the 25th of August, 2022, Ghost released Mary on a Cross and Mary on a Cross but slowed down with reverb. This, in and of itself, isn't special, but that album art is, because it turns out this art is referencing the Caligula coin. Caligula, who was a Roman Emperor in 41 AD, was murdered by his closest advisors and members of his Praetorian Guard. However, if that was the only proof, that would be a flimsy connection as it is just album art.
So we'll look closer to the chapters. After Coppia gets back home to the ministry, new trike in hand, we're introduced to a rather mysterious new character called Mr. Salitarian, who also works for the clergy in some unknown way. Coppia drives to Salitarian's beach house while the song Hang the Pope by Nuclear Salt is playing in his car.
Then, in the same video, Salitarian refers to the Summer European which catches Kirby's attention. Come on, wise guy. We need to talk about that European summer tour. In the next video Road Trip the dysfunctional family play car games.
People on the hill airs out the car. How is this even possible? I don't understand.
There should be nothing coming out of you. You're a ghost. And still you soil the car.
And Salitarian says Alright alright enough of that. Number one, you need to focus on the here and now, like driving this car. Number two, don't even go there. And number three, the shows are scheduled.
I know when your time is up. Yet again referring to the summer European tour, which echoes the lyrics from the song Darkness at the Heart of My Love from the Impera album, Coppia's own album. Showing that Coppia might have known he was going to die, which is also hinted at in his live voice, He turned and shouted no, and when his final ritual got closer and closer it sounded more and more sad, almost like he's resigned to his fate.
Never to return It's just so heartbreaking to think of, especially after it's doubled down in the chapter text season, when after seeing Mr. Solitarian push a glass coffin through the hallways... Copia asks Sister Imperator, Are we doing some sort of spring cleaning today or something? I saw one of them old coffins being rolled around for airing or what?
That wasn't an old coffin. That's a brand new, additional coffin. Huh?
But you don't have to worry about that. Hammering home that someone is going to die and be placed in the exact same coffin that all the other Papas have been put in. When the European summer talk came, also known as the re-imperator, at his last show on October 7th, 2023, in Brisbane, Australia, Coppia delivered a monologue, which I'm going to play in full. I know a lot of people are expecting some sort of explosion, an implosion, some miracle, And I am I just disappeared In favor of a successor I'm gonna take this ice cube and I'm gonna put it down my pants I usually don't do that But that is to make me feel a little bit better Because now, I'm focusing on that and not on you Just in case you thought I was pissing myself Which I'm sure would have been a great finale But you know what this finale it's just gonna be my last show And i'm gonna do my best to deliver that show to you and that would just have to be enough, okay We got that Do you understand my grace, baby? Yeah!
It's hard enough as it is. Fuck you! However, I am very, very pleased to see so many of you here tonight.
Now I'm starting to feel that ice cube. Right in the little bit that we're gonna talk about later. And that is a good feeling actually. So, look at people, we're here to have fun tonight though. So, are you ready to have fun and rock on?
And he finished the show just fine. The next we see of him is in a teaser for Right Here Right Now, which we see a wonderfully edited photo of Imperator in a scene from The Exorcist in which Father Kairos has a nightmare of his recently deceased mother. going down those steps potentially to somewhere bad.
What that means yet for the ghost story is still unknown. All we know is that Copia might pass in this movie, and the next Papa will be shown. Even the crucifix in the logo is pointing at 5. Copia's time as Papa Meritus IV is officially...
And that's for now, about it for the general setup and timeline for the Ghost Lore, in a nice and neat yet in-depth way as I can get it to prepare for right here right now. I've got my tickets booked and I'm ready to update this as soon as I see it, so… I'd just like to thank a few people before the video ends, so thank you to Stjinn Van Weerkren and Pirate Software for composing the Heartbound OST and giving free permission to use it, um… Huge thanks to Salo Felina for uploading the official Imperia instrumentals and giving free permission to use them. And, god, especially huge thanks to Lord and Savior for giving me permission to use their amazing covers as the backing music for most of the video. I doubt we would have the same vibe as it does without their music, so thank you. And for now, that's it.
Go see Right Here Right Now. Right now!
