Overview
This tutorial explains how to export stems from Logic Pro, covering the necessary steps, settings, and tips for optimal results.
Preparing Tracks for Stem Export
- Mute any tracks you do not want included in the stems (e.g., vocals if exporting instrumentals).
- Select all desired tracks by clicking and holding Shift.
Export Process
- Use the shortcut Shift + Command + E to open the export window.
- Alternatively, navigate to File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files.
- Choose the correct destination folder for your exported files.
- Create a new folder (e.g., "stems") to organize the exports.
Export Settings and Options
- Enable "Trim Silence" to remove unused sections and reduce file size.
- Choose your preferred file format (WAV or AIFF); WAV at 24-bit is standard.
- Decide whether to export with or without plugin effects based on your needs.
- Set "Normalize" to off for a consistent mix, or adjust as required (off, overload protection, or on).
- Select naming options—using track names is recommended for clarity.
Finalizing and Accessing Exported Stems
- Click Export to process and bounce down the stem files.
- Locate your stems in the newly created folder, with each file named accordingly.
- Confirm all parts are correctly exported for further use or sharing.
