Information about the CLAT Exam
What is CLAT?
- The full form of CLAT is "Common Law Admission Test".
- It is a national level exam conducted for admission into national law universities.
- Through this exam, seats in 24 national law universities can be secured.
Eligibility and Age Limit
- There is no upper age limit to take the CLAT.
- Students from any stream, be it commerce, science, or any other stream, can take the CLAT.
- One can appear for this exam even at the age of 40.
CLAT 2025 Exam
- The exam will be held in December 2025.
- The last date to apply is October 15.
- Those who appear in the exam will be eligible for the next year's batch.
Exam Structure
- The exam will be of 120 minutes with 120 questions asked.
- The question paper will be in pen-paper format and in English language.
- There will be a total of 5 sections:
- English
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- Logical Reasoning
- Legal Reasoning
- Quantitative Techniques
- There will be negative marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answers.
Application Process and Fee
- The application process will be online.
- The application fee is 4000 rupees for general and OBC categories.
- The fee for other categories is 3500 rupees.
Preparation Strategy
- The exam will have more passage-based questions, so attention to reading skills is necessary.
- To avoid negative marking, choose answers carefully.
Additional Information
- Students in the PWD category will be given an extra 40 minutes in the exam.
- For proper preparation, mock tests and practice are essential.
- CLAT topics will be based on information up to 12th standard.
