you're looking for a job and you want to save some time on those endless daily applications and want to uh actually be offered an interview with little to no effort one thing you can do is optimize your LinkedIn profile so at data engineer Academy profile optimization recommendations is something we offer so I'm going to tell you right now what you can do to optimize your LinkedIn profile uh um so as of now March 2024 um profile verification is available to everyone so what that gets you is this little check mark right here uh that tells people you are the real person behind this profile but also it increases your reach meaning you are more easily discoverable um what else is there on the profile going top down we have a headline we have an about section and so on let's discuss some of the first things you notice on a profile um and of course there's a profile picture so actually that might be the first thing you notice so as for the profile picture you want something that's not a selfie that's um decently high definition with a neutral background and you want to be dressed at least business casual if not even more elegant uh you want to have a neutral or a friendly expression and you don't want to be too far away from the camera so ideally you would take a picture that's up to chest level so like that um that's about it for the profile picture your cover photo can be professional it can express some of your professional or personal interests uh but it's fine not to have one uh the second thing you want to do is you want to set that you're open to work but only to show it to recruiters so this way you don't get that green Banner so not everyone knows you're looking for work and not even recruiters from your current company will know so here uh you can do that by uh clicking on open two on your profile finding a new job you can select the type of work you're open to full-time part-time Etc and make sure to click recruiters only uh because when recruiters are searching for people they do tend to filter for that first and then remove that filter uh then there's the headline um so for the headline and the about section I recommend you leverage the help of chat GPT so obviously your headline should contain uh Your Role or the role you're ASP aspiring for um if you're doing different things you can also include that uh three sections are common but instead of this one like I would normally recommend putting a few of the core tools or skills that you need for the role in your about section um you want to you know explain your unique selling points as um as a person on the job market so you want to highlight some of your greatest accomplishment that accomplishments that are relevant for the role that you're looking for um so a brief summary of your experience again Chad jpd can help you that with a prompt like um by the way when you're prompting chat GPT before your prompt I recommend you paste your updated resume and then so let's say uh like this paste your resume and then the prompt prompt itself would be uh based on my resume write a 200w Linkin about section um highlighting my greatest achievements that are relevant for the role and then you or the roles multiple and then you mention the rules rule XYZ make sure it contains relevant keywords and skills the goal is to get this discovered and picked by recruiters okay so this is a good prompt of course you should check whatever the output is of chat GPT and make sure you like it and you're okay with it after that you have your experience part so I recommend for this one you just paste your uh bullet points from your resume that contain quantifiable impact you don't need more than five per position and then um at the bottom there are skills um so I recommend focusing on the technical skills from your resume that are relevant again for your role in data um you have a limit of 50 skills on LinkedIn so don't go too heavy on everything and anything so things like presentation or uh a lot of soft skills are things you can Skip and focus on technical skills and one final piece of advice would be uh to reply to all recruiters that reach out for you even if you're not interested right and the reason here is really good one one of the top filters recruiters uh have when they're using their search uh on LinkedIn so their search looks different to everyone else's one of their top filters is likely to reply so the way that LinkedIn establishes whether you are likely to reply is it checks whether you're leaving people on Red uh how quickly you're replying whether you're replying at all so it's not uncommon that once you start getting Recruiters in your LinkedIn inbox you get several of them in a short span of time if you reply to them and if you reply to them quickly that's even better so those are uh my tips for LinkedIn optimization uh and how you can do it yourself but if you need help we can do that for you
