between 1919 and 1924 we have seen a number of revolutions assassinations economic problems and general and disorder among Germany so it really does beg the question how did the Vimal Republic survive these early years what was it that allowed them to survive and carry on way past 1924 what there are a number of theories and suggestions the first being the weakness of the revolutions so despite the rise in extremism there was no powerful revolution during the Weimar Republic so we know that they cap poach in 1920 was put down was quashed very easily it seemed to just a disband so the cap Bush disbanded right-wing groups together were not well organized Hitler didn't have support in 1923 most German workers supported the SDP and not the KPD so this is an interesting thing here so the Communist Party was seen as the party for workers party for workers however the most workers in Germany supported the SPD so no no work has supported them no workers supported them okay and there was little organization among this far left as well there was just there wasn't really any drive to in to instigate a revolution okay and also the vermont army was anti far left and so it was hard to form a group if you are on the left so these are more antique about the left and these are more about the rights okay so we can see that in the early years of vine mar despite the fact of all these economic problems and these attempts for revolution support for extremism was still relatively low compared to what it then soon becomes in the next ten years so this is really just a lack of support a lack of drive a lack of coordination among the extremist groups who wanted to see a collapse of i'ma that's one of the reasons how it survived okay there was also the actions of ebay and Stresemann so we have looked at ebay already he was a moderate socialist who was prepared to take strong action against communism so he didn't so he was being a moderate strong a socialist and also being able to take strong action against communism meant that the KPD the KPD had little chance of success little chance of success that looks like any little chance of success okay he called the army in 1919 to deal with the Spartacus movements so we see it these are left-wing movements so a left-wing plot so left-wing movements and he also stood against a cap butch using article 48 of the Weimar Constitution and also during the Munich pooch as well okay so we see that he was very anti revolution he was he was insistent that this Vimal Republic was to stay and was to work on a building Germany back up since the first world war Stresemann however was a different character okay he came to power in August of 1923 and he was a member of the DVP he also is one of the reasons why we see a golden age in vimar Germany between 1924 and 1928 so he called off passive resistance in the Ruhr he also resumed the reparation payments and he introduced a new currency when I look at these in a little bit more detail in a later video but he did all these things and he ended sort of the hostile relationship between all the Western nations in Germany he also also by restarting the reparation payments he also ended hyperinflation by getting rid of the mark and introducing a new currency into the system and so balancing out the economy there were also other factors so there were just generally different things about a support for vimar Germany so we see that the German hatred was aimed more towards France and this is particularly true when they occupied the raw excuse me occupied the raw there was also there's also been an exaggeration around the hyperinflation crisis okay it was indeed an economic crisis however we don't see the sort of deal creased poverty that we will soon see when we get to the great when we get to the when we get to the financial crash in 1929 so so we see that workers didn't really suffer too much jack harper inflation okay and there was also just generally a passive passive feelings about varma passive feelings about Vimal so the thing is people were we're okay there wasn't extreme poverty there were economic problems and and if if the sort if the world if the country sorry is just sort of doing okay that people take less of an interest in politics politics takes a bit of a back step whilst people are living their prosperous lives and then when poverty and economic and and social problems start to talks to step back in that's when people take more of an interest in the politics so this point people just didn't really care about politics and so they can care about the vanwall republic and they were just just happy to some of them were just happy to be alive since the first world war so we see so we see that we see that the extremism and the economic problems could be said to be slightly exaggerated during this time however they were strong there were still strong problems with the Valmeyer system there were still strong opposition to the vile mass system however as we can see the actions of a barrage tradesmen helped to bring the Vimal republic into a positive light and there were other smaller factors down here as well
