We're going to start our demonstration today on the Toastmasters website, and that's because this is where every member's journey begins. Now, we know that many of you have already logged into the new Basecamp, and so you've probably already discovered that your login information has not really changed, and the process to log in is virtually the same as it was in the prior Basecamp. To log in, you will log into the Toastmasters website.
And you can access Basecamp directly from my home. When you are on my home, you will see a Go to Basecamp tile. Clicking that tile will take you directly to Basecamp.
But we're not going to access Basecamp just yet. I know several of you had questions about the path purchase process and the changes in the path offering. Because of that, we're going to look at the process to select a path before we go to Basecamp. And the process to select a path hasn't changed either. To select your path, you will go to the Learning Hub.
Once you are on the Learning Hub, you'll click that Choose a Path card. And then the first step in selecting your path is to decide what language would you like to work in. Please note that updated Pathways content is available in Arabic, English, French, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese. If a member of your club was working in Japanese, Korean, Tamil, Portuguese, or traditional Chinese, they can still access PDFs of this content on the resources page on Basecamp. So those languages are no longer available for sale here, but members who were working in those languages prior to the transition, or even members who join after the transition and want to work in those languages are still supported in doing so.
They will just use PDFs. and then an English path to track their progress. This follows the same process that is used for district translations, and we're going to walk through that process and where to find those PDFs in a little bit more detail later in today's webinar. Once you've selected your language, you will be asked if you want to take the assessment or view all path options.
With the transition to the new Basecamp, The Pathways product offering was changed to six paths. The paths that are available for sale were updated in the new Basecamp. These include engaging humor, dynamic leadership, motivational strategies, persuasive influence, presentation mastery, and visionary communication.
And we'll notice that I believe it's engaging humor that is a little bit further down. For us, that's just simply because that's the path that we're working in, and you need to complete your path before you purchase the same path a second time. The paths that are no longer available for sale, you will hear us refer to as legacy paths.
These paths were not updated in the new Basecamp, but they are still available for members who purchase them before the transition. Members can continue working in and receiving credit for these paths. And there is currently no end date on the ability to work in these paths. Projects in those paths that are no longer available for sale will look identical to the content in the prior Basecamp.
Once we're in Basecamp, we'll take a look at one of those paths so you can see what we mean by that. But these paths include effective coaching, innovative planning, leadership development, strategic relationships, and team collaboration. We aren't going to purchase a path today because we want to explore Basecamp. When you are ready to log in, as we mentioned, you can log in from my home using the GoToBasecamp card there, or you can go back to the Learning Hub and use the GoToBasecamp card here.
Please note that members who have not logged in yet will see the Privacy and Consents page at this point in the process. This page appears each time a user logs in. until they have saved answers to all of the questions.
So we don't see that page now because we have already saved all of our answers to the consents questions. One more thing to note about the privacy and consents page because we did get some questions about it on the day that we launched. For some members, it took a little bit longer than expected to get past the consents page.
If this page stalls for any of your members, Please recommend that they refresh, clear their history, or log out of the Toastmasters website and then back in. Those steps resolve the delay for other members. Once your consents are complete, you're ready to log in to Basecamp. Each time you log in, you'll land right here on your paths and learning page.
Molly is going to walk us through this page and share some of the exciting new project features. Thank you, Jessie. As Jessie mentioned, this will be the page that you land on. From paths and learning, you can quickly see different types of learning.
These include your in-progress paths. which show as active here. The suggested learning section contains education that is recommended to you and not part of the path purchase process. Suggested learning courses are suggested here based on your role and your current path progress.
Examples of these include the Pathways Mentor Program or the Club Coach module. Once you have selected your first path, you can purchase additional paths. The suggested learning education that shows here is available for you to add to Basecamp yourself. These items are available to supplement your Toastmasters education. The finally completed paths, once your entire path has been approved, show in this section.
Member progress was transferred from Club Central to the new Basecamp. This means that any levels that were not completed on Basecamp prior to the blackout and or not submitted in Club Central are not marked complete in the new Basecamp. If members are seeing a discrepancy between what is shown as complete in Basecamp versus what they expect, it may be because we used the information that was submitted in Club Central. If paths, levels, or projects are not showing as complete or are marked complete when they shouldn't be, please review this with all club officers.
If it is determined to be an error for items that are not marked complete and should be, have the member mark them complete. For items that are complete that should not be, please contact Education Program. at Toastmasters.org. Once a member has submitted a level completion request, please review, then you can determine if you need to approve it from your Basecamp Manager dashboard. We'll get to that dashboard in just a little bit.
As Jesse mentioned, our legacy paths are still in the new Basecamp. One of these is leadership development. In just a moment, you will be able to see that the path navigation is new and updated, just like the continuing paths.
In the Legacy Paths, level and path completions follow the same structure as all other paths. Members will mark their levels and paths complete, and once approved by a Basecamp manager, these education awards will push to Club Central automatically. Once approved in Basecamp, there is no second step to make sure that Club Central reflects member progress. In the Legacy Paths, we have the same content.
It looks identical to what we saw before, and we have the same requirements to mark a project complete. That includes assess your skills before and assess your skills after to mark that project complete. Because these projects look the same as the previous Basecamp projects, it's important to note that these projects and legacy paths are not optimized for mobile devices, and they may not load well on phones or tablets.
For the best experience in a legacy path, please access the legacy projects using a desktop or a laptop. The rest of our system, including our continuing paths, are mobile friendly. Please note, though, that the size of your screens mean you need to navigate differently on your mobile, like Jesse mentioned before. For instance, this is a question we had before. The menu on mobile, when you're looking at it on your phone, is usually collapsed under the three lines at the top of your screen.
In our continuing paths, like engaging humor, we have updated projects. The projects have the same general structure as in the previous Space Camp. It's again the navigation, including the path overview, I will switch over here, the menu, and the general layout, which are updated. There are updated images, icons, and an updated interface.
Additionally, some projects have minor content updates. Some of the updates to the projects are immediately apparent. In the first few pages of each project, you'll find consistent or recurring interactions.
On the title page, which is here, it's the first page in each project. All of the resources needed to complete the project are linked below in the resources section. These PDFs include items like the project checklist, the full project PDF, and any evaluation resources needed to complete the project.
We have an interaction at the beginning of each project called the No Wonder Learned tool. This interaction encourages you to reflect on your prior knowledge and what you hope to learn in the project. The learn section of this interaction appears later in the project to give you a chance to reflect on your learning throughout.
One of the resources at the beginning of the project is the project completion checklist. And that is actually built into each project with all steps listed to complete your project. Whether that's selecting a topic or rehearsing your speech, the checklist includes the required tasks to mark this project complete. Members can also add their own items to the checklist, which can be marked complete along the way. The evaluation criteria are listed on the same page as the checklist.
The criteria are listed for the speaker to review before they give their speech, and before the evaluator gives feedback on their speech or speeches. Now, my favorite feature is One of my favorite features in the project is the speech log, and I know we've had a few questions about that as well. Past the No Wonder Learned, we have the speech log.
For every required speech in your project, you will have a speech log available to fill out. You can log the details, including your title, your speech date, and who you choose from your club as your evaluator. You do not need to complete this in order to complete your project. It is not required. you can mark your project complete without touching this at all.
However, if you use the speech log before giving your speech, you can directly email the digital evaluation form to a member of your club. And when recording the details of your speech, you can send a request directly to the club member you select, including anything your evaluator should look for or information to include in your introduction. If you enter a historical speech or need to update the log, You can edit all details of your speech log later.
You can go back into your project or go to the achievements page where this information is stored. You can also log a speech log without selecting your evaluator, but you will have to select your club. Again, we've gotten a few questions about that and we can go back and address those later if there is still concern. Once the required...
excuse me, what? No apologies. Once the required tasks are completed and you are ready to finish out your project, you will go to the end of the project called before you move on.
Here you will find the complete my project button. Unless, like our member Henry who we are looking at today, you've already completed your project and then it will say project completed. Congratulations. Please note that if a member completed a project in the prior Basecamp, what they will see is this screen.
It will be marked complete in the new Basecamp. The project will have green check marks on the overview page and in the left-hand navigation menu here. Now outside of the projects, the paths have some exciting new features as well.
Level and path completions are embedded within the path itself. When you have completed all of the required projects in the level, you can mark the level complete. If you belong to more than one club, you can select which club you want to have your level approved in using the drop-down. Now, path completions can only be submitted once levels 1 through 5 are marked complete by a Basecamp Manager. Projects can be completed in any order, you can give any speech at any time, but levels must be marked complete consecutively.
Before the path can be sent to a Basecamp Manager for approval, you must also complete the Reflect on Your Path project that's located in this Path Completion section. Now, as many of you know, levels 3, 4, and 5 have one required project and some number of required electives. The electives menu is included in these levels, 3, 4, and 5, and it appears after the non-elective project, or the required project.
All available electives show. If you click on one, the project description shows as well. You can select as many electives as you would like at one time. whether that's the one you want to start or the number of required elective projects. Now another question that we had that I want to make sure everyone sees here is how do I tell how many electives I have to complete to mark my level complete?
And because it varies, we have levels 3, 4, and 5 with different requirements. We made sure to include right here at the very top, select your elective projects, choose at least two projects as required for this level. So I know that level three requires two elective projects to be completed and then marked complete by me as the member. You can select more than two.
You can select one to start. And if you're feeling very enthusiastic, you could select all of the electives in the level and then click submit. Now, electives won't show in your left navigation menu until they have been selected and submitted.
And selecting an elective does not mean you have to complete that elective. It will be available for you to complete in your path. Now, you must complete the request. number of elected projects, which is again right under that title, to submit your level completion to your club.
Once levels 1 through 5 have been completed, you are ready to submit your path completion section. Now this section is not new, but it is required to get credit for the completion of your path. Please note that the path is not considered complete until the path completion section is complete, including that reflect on your path project.
Credit for completing your path will not be applied in Club Central and it will not count toward the DCP until the path completion section has also been approved by a Basecamp Manager. Note that for DCP and in Club Central, both the level five completion item where you're marking those projects complete and also this path completion section where you're marking your path complete, those are only referred to in Club Central as level five. Your path will not be marked complete either place, club central or for the DCP, until this path completion section is approved by a base camp manager. And this applies to all paths, whether that is a legacy path or one like engaging humor.
