Understanding Metric and Household Measurements

hi my name is Caroline and this is a fun little video to help you kind of learn your metric and household liquid measures we're gonna use that hump ounce cup as a reference point cuz it's taken from page 81 of the book calculation of drug dosages by Caroline Janek on that page success suggest that you look at the odds club you can kind of examine one side of it one side of the ounce cup the scale is what we're going to review you're going to go up to the top of the scale now we'll start with teaspoon 1 teaspoon equals 5 mill whole years when tablespoon equals 15 milliliters so we'll take the one teaspoon 5 milliliters 2 teaspoons is 10 milliliters 3 teaspoons is 15 milliliters so 15 milliliters equals 1 tablespoon for 1/2 pounds we'll add another tablespoon which is 15 milliliters so we have two tablespoons equals 30 milliliters equals one ounce 1 ounce is 30 milliliters if we take and pour 8 ounces into this container 8 ounces equals 1 cup eight so we have eight ounces in this container eight ounces equals one cup or 240 milliliters another way of learning these equivalents just to take and make flashcards the process of making the flashcards will help you learn your equivalents by the time you're done making you almost all them but they're also very convenient like if you're on your way to school and in a carpool around the bus you could whip up your cards from your backpack and take them on with the study we review them right before your exam so one teaspoon equals five milliliters three teaspoons equals one tablespoon 1 tablespoon equals 15 milliliters two tablespoons equals one ounce 1 ounce equals 30 milliliters eight ounces equals one cup 8 ounces also equals 240 milliliters one cup equals 240 or 250 milliliters 2 cups equals one pint or 500 milliliters when quark equals 32 ounces 32 of these 1 port also equals 1,000 milliliters so this is just a quick review of household metric measures using the ounce cup with your reference point I hope you learn something and after visualizing this maybe you'll know them forever for cooking for this for that for measuring liquid measures at the hospital thank you and have a good day well we must end this little segment with one final comment and that is that weights and measures are approximate when you convert from one system to another and the best example of this fact is that you take a cup a cup can be anywhere from 237 milliliters to 250 milliliters a US customary cup is 237 milliliters a US legal cup is 240 milliliters so there is some variation I hope you learn something from this segment on cups ounces teaspoons tablespoons
