Apa itu Narrative Text?

• Definisi: Cerita imaginatif yang bertujuan untuk menghibur orang.
• Tipe-tipe Narrative Text:
  • Fairy Tales (Dongeng): Contoh seperti "The Goose with the Golden Egg", "Snow White", "Cinderella".
  • Folktales (Cerita Rakyat): Contoh di Indonesia seperti "Sang Kuryang", "Malin Kundang".
  • Fables (Fabel): Cerita tentang binatang, contohnya "The Ant and the Dove", "The Fox and the Grapes".
  • Legends (Legenda): Contoh seperti "Legenda Bayuwangi", "Legenda Notoba".

Tujuan Narrative Text

• Menghibur (To amuse/To entertain).
• Mengajarkan karakter baik (To teach us to have good character).
• Membuat kita belajar sesuatu dari cerita (To make us learn something from the story).

Struktur Umum Narrative Text

1. Orientation: Pengenalan tokoh, tempat, dan waktu.
2. Complication: Masalah dalam cerita.
3. Resolution: Solusi dari masalah.
4. Reorientation: Nilai moral, bersifat opsional.

Ciri-ciri Bahasa dalam Narrative Text

• Adverb of Time: Misalnya "Once upon a time", "One day", "Long time ago".
• Past Tense: Contoh kalimat menggunakan verb bentuk kedua.
• Specific Characters: Tokoh-tokoh tertentu seperti Cinderella, Aladdin, dll.
• Action Verbs: Kata kerja yang menunjukkan aksi.
• Time Conjunctions: Kata penghubung waktu seperti "then", "when", "suddenly".
• Direct Speech: Kalimat langsung, ditandai dengan tanda petik.

Analisis Contoh Narrative Text

Contoh: Cinderella

• Orientation: "Once upon a time lived a girl named Cinderella..."
• Complication: "Her stepmother and stepsister treat her badly..."
• Resolution: "A fairy godmother helped her..."

Ciri-ciri yang Ditemukan

• Adverb of Time: "Once upon a time".
• Specific Characters: Cinderella, stepmother, prince.
• Past Tense: Menggunakan bentuk lampau.
• Action Verbs: "Invited", "helped", "treated".
• Direct Speech: Tanda petik dalam kalimat.
• Time Conjunction: "Then".
