Interview Highlights with Big Daddy Kane

hey thanks like we hope you stop me this your boy in Milwaukee put up a DJ efn chat right now when we started this show we said we wanted to honor and you know salute living legends and when we configure the guests that we have right now there's no equivocation there's no type of doubt at all how legendary this guy is he is single-handedly controlled the rap game put Brooklyn on his back put New York City on his back put hip hop on his back has represented has done we has traveled across the world to pitches what we're done and he's the only guy I know that got away with a speed off he's still a coolest guy in the world will you take a smooth operator you gotta think of him and I gotta ask the wood wood it makes to be a smooth operator and in case you people don't know who we're talking about we got Big Daddy Kane man we're so excited to have you listen I don't know cuz I pulled up some old lyrics and her young guy so I got dog hurry on but we also know that you are the glow fighting out of the red one well now obviously I was messing with the Remy you know what I mean you know that sugar from that was just putting too much weight on yeah yeah a con yeah yeah yeah yeah I was doing that Remy like are like me and my dog like we we'd like knock down like maybe like a 2/5 or night Wow so I asked you to drink champs the whole time we've been on you chance feeling a hundred and some other souls 100 you ever pop the bottle of dawn I'm popping it in the commemoration to you my brother for [ __ ] Big Daddy Kane popping a bottle a dart is the whole bottle - look at that do it in slow-mo yeah I mean I'm sorry I think we need to you have such a long career yes I want to take it from the beginning like well I urge you to get just just to start spitting period you know honestly it was something that I got into and she nor the younger at a young age because of a older cousin I looked up to you know I mean it was so it was that type of thing I got me you know my older cousin was doing right so you know I just did it really just to be like him and he told me like you know you're too young was he making records nah nah it's just you know just hit me two of his boys right around the way you know in bed-stuy you don't even see [ __ ] like a little wrapper over 30 have a crew and he told me I was too young like nah you know you know when you get older so then from that point my mission became to be better than the other two dudes down with him so I started off writing battle rhymes you feel me and that's what I was doing then when I thought I had it right I went and battled the two dudes down with him beat they're much older than you battled them and beat them in and ask them can I be down now you know got notes issue okay so you battle them now you're just doing it on the block you just you just been for as a hobby I'm a su yeah pretty much yeah pretty much so how is it that you get to to where you become Big Daddy kids there is there is there a persona before Big Daddy cannon do you have another name where you were did you maybe well before Big Daddy Kane it was just MC Cain we just have ck f ck all right so now look I'm speaking to my good brother Fat Joe today so Fat Joe calls me I'm a man like y'all say y'all got a cane on today so he said but was a stupid fence question but while the super fest Biggie and Tupac actually came up the only time that people the footage of Biggie and Tupac is famous record yes that one told me that they were David that wasn't even they said they were coming out what King Joe was next up to rhyme when they gave me to wrap it up like you got five minutes so I wasn't able to you can bring Joe on but you know standing with my granny to wrap it up so it feels like man if I were to conversate is dead Dave the first time you met jay-z the first time I met jay-z it was back and I want to say 88 maybe there was you know there's like long in the early 80s low mid eighties like you know my name was poppin in Brooklyn for battling people because but there was one dude who named was bigger than mine um this guy named jazz Chancellor yeah okay cool like he was more popping and then to top it off to make matters worse dude around the corner for me to click on fresh Gordon they had a gaudy groove record fresh Gordon did a mixtape with jazz and I'm looking around the corner for something like you know you gonna get a multi-cat you when I'm right here you for for Greta's no no I'm from uh Lewis ever all the two blocks from Roosevelt project okay cool name that son um so I'm like you know you won't get the mossy cat instead of do right around the corner and now I'm really pissed I'm like me in this jazz do grant the battle we're gonna have to battle this one of us are gonna hair deal okay neither one of us had deals okay and um it just never happened like I tried to you know find a jazz it we we had never happened right there hill on I am the what do have records out and I get a call on from the shirt Kings yeah yeah and they say yo we want you to do a mix tape recording crib with jazz and I'm like well if it's battle yeah right I mean I'm making records now but that's the I'm that [ __ ] was eating me up you know so you say it you say him back then battlin was like important to even getting on a record with a person like actually battling the MC well I mean you know regular person was was great too but I got said this was something personal you know but I mean yeah this was something person within you know so it was like yeah we can do it if we paddle okay and then when I get there on gaudiya crib you know he's like nah nah I not listen or you know I'm jazz and with a mind on wall so we just wanted to you know like do something I knew y'all do something together you know say where he can you know really shine and whatnot you know you know get the public new deal so I was like oh I quote okay and then jazz asked me okay my man my morning right and I'm like you know I don't care very fast James so we did to join me jazz and jay-z and then all I'm after was do from the shirt King he was like yo um you think maybe you can take jazz up to cold chillin and maybe try to get him a deal you know something coach is the record label for ya young boys can continue so I told I told him y'all I mean to be honest with you I thought I liked the skinny light-skinned [ __ ] better you know how about jay-z told my JC and you know from that point you know me and Jay got hooked up and like I was trying you know I tried my hardest you know to get him you know I deal with several different labels you know just things just didn't work out but look you do we smart enough to you know figure out a way to do it on his own you know yeah let me just interject for one second my daddy kane is the first guess that came with the own cork school god damn it in my mind who's gonna drink Dom Perignon so I still got two bottles of Dom Perignon just in case you want to reminisce what is it what is what is um you know I will I'll get back to the jay-z gig later but okay you won't the vapors correct yeah for bismarck north Hey okay come on guys really everybody except of how about please so look this is prior to you having your own records is it yeah because that's how I heard I heard that that's how you kind of got on like you was writing for biz and rocks and Shonte for was busy like the first record that you wrote for that blew up was it the famous [Music] you'll activate this it was on it was now first was some some of all there might be stupid he was right for you know y'all got this song he told me doing the thing like using the whiz song and he got this floating right he wanted to say you know he's like you know let it flow like that and you know just put something together so that down was the first young you knew that you knew you could think like somebody else like that was pretty much around business oh you're already juice Christmas nah [ __ ] you know he was juice crew but not me right you know so how did you meet this I'm not big on through to see a cat in Long Island I miss dude in Long Island they Wayne was dating my cousin Nicky and whenever you'd be around he'd always be telling you about this dude named Biz Markie Dee Biz Markie Dee there's Biz Markie Dee dad you know such a such a sir so one day he came I conquered my grandmother live right across the street for now be square more straight my first girlfriend obvious quibble what's a for green [ __ ] took me there I'm sorry you know no no no you gotta got either Jeanette the time to do that yeah but I mean you know this time you know he's like yo my man business anymore yo he was just beatboxing to and all this his stuff I'm hearing more right now something let me meet them I'm gonna do understand something after the day when I eat his ass you go to this Biz Markie Dee do you tell him about MC Cain right right so we went over the Iast busy battle we battled and after the battle biz was like yo you don't man you should get down with me if you get down with me I promise you man we're gonna make a record one day man and business big at this time no he's just looking no I'm a fact this wasn't me down to juice food in yeah he was actually just rockin with the mic and Dave cats doing parties and like all of them BX and long Allen yeah so now this take me in am i afraid for the vapors there's somebody [ __ ] on you but you wanted to just get to back in the music I had nothing to do they work oh that was BS idea Oh things biz I feel like this was like co-owner with him in mind like when you were right no he came with this told me yo remember he was telling me that story about you know your family member what they will you should write about that you know and he was like calm and talked to the bomb cool V talk to Swann you know like you know and you know I just talked with them and you know they told me different stories about you know Cassie tried to play them but just sweating them now you know so give me with the actual world famous this like and it came up one day in dowry square mall docket play biz in the movie right keep it real no I wouldn't I think I don't know what I'm talkin about another note though I think that you are a hell of an actor one is this it's described it is some sexy [ __ ] always called clear Spanish red on Islam Islam believed 70% Monastrell which is a Spanish grade and 70% Spanish very sophisticated Spanish so all right you guys you write the vapors the song blows up let me ask you a question even before I go into depth with that how come business looked at like a real MC and Drake is it I don't know I mean you know it's like here's my thing which I've always tried to explain it's like you know once you cross that line you sign that paper you know you crossed that line would you mean well I mean it's like you know on the street you and MC but once you sign it later I'll make a records you're an artist you can be produced you know so it's really we you want to go with that's right you know I mean with me I've always tried to walk a fine line and do a little bit of both as an artist I try to make music for men and women you know touch on be and keep the hood [ __ ] as well but also spit down cats and do real MC [ __ ] you know I would try to walk that fine line I mean it's like for someone like biz business and artists who makes you know some of the most funniest records that make you enjoy life you know so I mean with Drake on doing this a you know the same thing if he does have cats right before my I have no problem with that I mean you know I think that makes them a great artist cuz I don't look at this no less than an artist I don't look at eat nom easy easy he actually said on the record he said Dom IceCube rights to Rob's dad I say and for some reason it didn't bother me but drink drain every brain that was immersed oh yeah I wasn't gonna double tough food on that old rag Rhymes I write checks yeah so how come these people don't tick off the average fan but Drake does you think it's because Drake is so high at the level like you you you got the experience to be that the only guy at one point do you think that's the reason why I drink is receiving so much slack because I probably could see a sec simple simple - we can imagine you not gonna shake down haha you're not gonna be two friends too long but never say like I'm the illest MC did he ever like was that ever has his thing that he put out there no I mean he may have said it like you know rhyme and don't give off the tone right well you know about me you know because I think that might be the difference between a dude that considers himself an emcee of battle MC verses and just being a good overall artist some of them are gonna put themselves out there that way I mean you have a lot of cats out here that's making amazing music that I think are great artists and I mean you know I don't think that they should be looked down upon because you know they have writers but at the same time if that's your thing then I don't think that you should be considering yourself you know a real MC yeah you don't take the time of rapper you know with that okay so now okay so after the vapors come out right is it our people checking for you now because they know you like is it is it is it word of mouth that they know you wrote this record so it's that I like not really I mean um I think back down the line people you know you know found out that I was right and you know arm forearm biz and some of the stuff for shantae you know that came like down the line and those records took off immediately when they came out yeah yeah you got your papers yeah they taped what are you old [ __ ] still can you feel it walking around the mall this here bad chick right I've been trying to you know get out for a long time school yeah and beers you know silly business he behind her just walking around just just making up stuff like she caught the faithful assist save it you know I know that's when he started in cake it fairly nothing could see yeah because this is the season today goddamnit so now hi so when was the actual moon where you actually felt like okay I'm making progress to get an on night cuz you said you said that people didn't really take notice that you write directly it was a toss and you see what was oh it began when nobody beats the biz which was know what was actually good the database bought the beat he was going on I think there's another record store to get the Steve Miller Band part before so he asked me what I'm like y'all I got a test today man I can't for you know [ __ ] would you like that like right now you know so he went on and on to the store and I went to school but after school I took the train to Marley crib in Queens and when I guys worried huh was Queensbridge multigrid a story a story okay yeah he's growing up yeah when I got the abyss was in there yet so you know we Marley he like crack the dog the chain on it and was you know yo [ __ ] in here I'm like well I was called to meet him and he's like yeah I'm like I wrote the chain all the way from Brooklyn fall good morning I was at the time on yeah okay I've been there before getting gone with the church good babies are you busy yeah I'll tell you money no doubt I'm like we look eased if I'm supposed to say today just let him know I came through then he was like you writing biz stuff like I wrote that you know he took the chain off and was like you know your heart is gold you know and I was like spitting a little bit of easy looking I think he asked me did I write make the music I was like nah and then say you'll come on in come on it and he invited me in and then Mike asked me to our Rob so I'm thinking I spit something for him hey hey yo let's work on something Wow yeah it was the first work that you worked on I'll take you [Music] my body got hoses going down what's the year that doesn't happen just so this is a 87 no no I don't give me 86 87 document well wouldn't nobody beats the big name I want to say 87 though I wanna say 87 so it's not even the height of like what they was doing I mean the time of the bridge demo you know okay so you felt like wow we battle right now so whoa let's take me take me to that time frame well I mean is 87 I'm fresh off the joint with beers that don't just rhyming with beers yes yes y'all two club is popping the limelight Oh No quarters rooftop quarters you just quit I mean it was like you know he's fresh off that just rhyming with this we're like you know I got a song out and you know I'm thinking that you know yes on now cuz I got this just rhyme with this joint with business but since [ __ ] started the song off everybody thought oh this [ __ ] record so promoters is booking bids like you know right yeah he'll probably bring new dude Widow right so I got a showing that they playing the all the vamp attack and overt alert but nobody's booking me I'm all broke your cell you know like that minute listen to my joint on the radio and then go walk 13 blocks to go steal mrs. Paul fish sticks ain't got no I mean so that's how it was and I'm big and fly tired you know grant coaching the records can I do a song by myself can I just do something with just me he like it's nighttime you need to let this record marinate for a while you then finally I guess you get tired of me getting on his nerves and yeah I went in like Marley's I was like yo my man just gave me to see on this Bobby burger joint and I found these easy murder Bobby Byrd oh I started the drums oh yeah my man just gave me to see a Bobby Byrd joint and all I found he's here arm crazy horns form off the black sees the soundtrack you know and you know we put the joint together and that was that ain't nothing to flake the goosebumps and all that this is real [ __ ] man I so uh so not a Jew school because we just you just touched on a just crew like right now let's get even deeper mm-hmm that's Symphony session hmm how did dad like how did that go down well there was the night I did raw I took G back to the studio with me and happy no dear and I just can't say this we just watched Nick Massi did you say you lived nah I believed she may have had demo he messes them up here yeah but it was like we was okay we were the two lyrical dudes in the crew waiting to get our shine because everybody else was poppin except us you did so we waitin to really get our shine looking at you like the two lyrical dudes is that the way y'all being looked at at the time y'all saw that record correctly and masta ace correct yeah okay kitty so it's like you know when I have Devore Molly brought the beat back and me and G's just did a little freestyle off of it and Marley played it and a lot of people was demanding like yo plate of raw version we can't ng on it you know so Marley wait I'm sorry you said it was just first you and G on symphony yeah Google cuz like basically we round off raw wants to be together and Marley plated after raw came out so people with the question and thinking it was a remix Marley played it for a while but then he stashed it was like yo look I need you and G to do the same thing but for my album so it's really fun just be a song with me and Jin right then eventually I guess where Marley's making the track of Sutton Craig heard it and I guess told Marley he wanted in and while he came to me and I was like you know well you know I I like that duck alert [ __ ] you know anything yeah Craig my dude yeah absolutely so then it was me G and Craig but then the day was filming the pictures from all the album cover after we got through we went to Molly crib right after the photo session and he was like you know this is my new artist masta ace and you know correct yeah okay yeah fast okay yeah because like you want to put him on the song and I'm like you know looking at Ace you know I mean I love ace but like aces to wear these big glasses right so me and G like we sit in there like it wasn't convinced that was the plan Burnham I guess we took too long and ace got a chance to start spitting and when the hilt he said its first you know I was like your grass is kind of nice I'm feeling sold in denim afterwards on Craig spit its verse here you know and then G came on to me you know that G we have less you know she glances first make a little bit better cranks so it was like you know we was like yeah yeah we mess and we do we dig and do yeah let's do this so we did it and then with energy BAP went and he said like I don't know is this cycle maybe you can tell me it's just like a Queens thing because like he had like about a hundred and fifty you know so yeah the cut is run right you just aren't going to fit my verse on but what was the problem would you Iraq him you know honestly to this day I would love to know I never I never had a problem you know with arm Rock him and you know me and everybody was like this right you know when I bought my first house every be had a set of keys um before I did because I was in LA filming something Wow you know so I mean there it was cool I guess you just have a thing where people just wanted to know who was better so they would push to try to give this kid could compare you guys styles together like cuz y'all go laid-back and lyrical well I think it's really a miracle thing yeah like I think Cain is never cool I think rise a little cool but who's better right you know that type of thing you know a competitive thing you know which is which to me is hip-hop right you know so you know I can understand him wanting to see that do you do do you when you see like Meek Mill and Drake going at it what do you say what do you think of things like that I mean I mean it's my thing is like this is you keep it on bracket it's hip-hop you know you take it off record now you turning it into a context boy you know you never have to stay somebody on the mic oh yeah yeah you had this laid out there you know that was my thing babbling right so I mean there's a whole bunch of rappers out there I mean if that's of course well you asked me if like somebody not took my own wax who did you slow oh no I never had okay you do not have time for that nobody wanted me out you let me know so now it's not a Slick Rick big Cooper mister was this EPMD it was it it was I think it was EPMD or Jermaine Dupri wanna know they said sleep on the bus thing yeah it was that yeah happy for slick pulla gonna try to shoot you this truth I just got a key straight up maybe a little truth today this is the crazy thing listen right right now if little long you know curly head and uncle such as such half beef we all know about but back then we didn't have Instagram you have Twitter so it was all word about so what I want to hear in this and it was like man yeah this is the EPMD episode it was like yeah you missed the whole bunch of things like and I was like word and I had never I had never knew like I had never heard you go as Slick Rick no nobody's where that nobody just keep it clear so back in the days y'all have beef but it was not on record yeah yeah it was some little mouse stuff you know keep it to play yeah it was more or less I guess I'm about on the tour a issue about the tour dog at the ll night roll tour you know there was so sunfish nice nothing was the problem it was like the problem is over the same thing that arm EPMD was talking about when when y'all had him here but the order of the show mmm oh yeah cuz he was to do his tan sit down yeah I see tell yourself okay I know I'm chatting in the subject but [ __ ] don't want to go on at the case I [ __ ] don't want to come on at that ain't no half-stepping but I mean he doesn't want to come on you know I to see them just say this year Slick Rick had an amazing show and also he had the club bangers Monalisa children stories a million amends a show and EPMD I mean it was like the energy they brought on stage was phenomenal you know I mean like these dudes just had like crazy energy you know I said for them to like not be doing a lot of movement you know I mean I came from a different perspective I think mean you had this conversation over in London like I was saying I call him until you did on like you know Doug E fresh came to one of my shows and you know he saw me perform and I we smashed it this is that the world okay down to down south uh-huh we do just showing Dougie's saw me smash it and I Macedonia what you think yeah you know Doug you know anywhere as a detainer yeah but I mean now that it's a after I know I just rocked it I'm in my mind I'm like yo school that's what's up but daddy was like y'all won't you come by the crib you know let me show you something so we go you know his crib and he pull out these on back that I think might be Betamax I'm not even sure what he's rocking then but videos of Earth Wind & Fire Michael Jackson Pink Floyd y'all studying that no he's showing me what he studied okay an explaining hi he you know transform net and to hip-hop right you know they make you work at a hip-hop show and I'm like mmm so that next morning I woke up and bought me or James Brown video Marvin Gaye and Barry White those are the first three up okay you know um yeah and I start you know um studying them and figured out different things to do on stage so you see my mindset wasn't about how to make the dope hip-hop show my mindset was about how to make a dope shell show and make hip-hop receptive I got I got another question to axe most flat top would an 89 [Laughter] how much is a pea Barbara cuz he had you sheet rock Yosh it was it was it was there was how you callin in Spanish perfecto well you know I was like you know I had a barber but then also school was to stage because my flattop I think um I think I may have made it popular by talking about it you know because I mean it was something that that I asked for from seeing Larry Blackman from camomile so I was the first to have it you know and I'm kid from kid and play his joints always lots of between you know but I think it was just a matter of me always talking about it you know I'm saying like really putting a brand to it you know sad no but you would like to hood live in the me say this you were like the hood like you represented the hood like when you were doing it right people from the hood followed what you did so that's what I'm saying like the hood controls the world so we didn't we didn't see the flats often cameo do you think you don't think you just suffer it for the generation you're talking about for that generous yeah I didn't watch cameo on don't think it's like not really like that they you know yah was my camp know I've got you you know garden so now um what was your experience like working with cold children in those days the cold chilling was left it was damn near like definitely Oh like death row or whatever like you guys was like the first like hood label that was there was ran by the hood people so how was that experience I mean it was beautiful I mean you know Def Jam without a doubt is then you know like probably the greatest hip-hop label ever but cold chillin was unique because the artist was a cruel saying Def Jam had a bunch of if I bought yeah yeah cold chillin had the juice crew the hardest work crew he said I'm saying and it operated that way and with each one giving off arm you know they're different you know forms of art streamed on like you know you had on me on the lyrical stuff and the smooth player stuff you had G rap on the gangster stuff bits on the comedy Sean telling the sassy mouth disrespecting every process you know there's you know Shannon is the wild child in the wild cowboy you know yeah it was like that crazy you know the baby come up dude you know and only have a single artist and then became the juice crew correct as opposed to like wu-tang wu-tang was or we were brought in as a like you know as a member of the Jews you know cuz I mean you know um this was you know the juice cause it's you know make no mistake this is mr. magic day you know it wasn't shine on shine tape thing it wasn't Mario flight odd thing this is mr. magic thing you know so I mean I think Shantae is and will forever be you know the queen of the juice crew the one she is the one who made it popular right because I would she wasn't sorry I see more wax I would school her sister fasting but yeah she's want to put it on wax you know I'm saying where we all can eat and make money off of it but you know I mean she was a nurse like they really wrap it like she's really want to juice pool boy okay so Sean's him forever be the queen of the juice crew but prior to Shantae and a lot of people don't notice Jahlil from Houdini mighty Mike see from the fellas for melly-mel water bed kids these are all members of the juice crew that was before then yeah you know sad because this was magic crew but David was a part you know his team with radio right you know Shantay started a whole new chapter of the juice crew as artists do you think you long event this smooth rap like rap that's just cool as a cucumber like I've seen what does I can't say I invented it but I damn sure made it right okay got that makes it daddy pig I think I think your goodness food wrap and I think one of the people who are still doing it and perfect this move wrap is jay-z and he's director yeah I think he's ready to send oh you got you got Madonna and Iommi camp mm-hmm what the legs we know how you ended up in her book the photoshoot misses this girl what was the photo shoot like brother Madonna and Iommi careful god damn I mean the photo shoot was fun you know I mean oh god oh my god everybody see that for people who come on I got one more somewhere now the photo shoot was live I mean you know it was like you know music playing food out and stuff this will play time now for her book a book called sex also it was for her book yeah Oh Madonn yeah the first thing gonna knock down my dad I'll give me half [Music] never had and I mean Madonna you know she's a beautiful young lady and more importantly she was mad cool right cause you see the way we met that's what those because we met under different circumstances you know it wasn't about know sexy you know freaky stuff you know like the way we met was me Madonna and Color Me badd was visiting hospitals oh so you see when it's strong yeah so we visiting hospitals on with your kids arm like the scene a sick in the hospital going to take pictures return the sign autographs and you know these hospitals all I gonna need on the east side of Manhattan and stuff right so why we did you know they knew who Madonna was he didn't we calling me bad was you know a lot of kids a nice but they didn't really know exactly who I was you know because I get was like you know you know upper class you know white children you know and Madonna is sitting there like you know Big Daddy can't say how the Big Daddy Kane he's a famous rapper I mean you say ain't no now yeah that was one of the moments when if you like for wife do you figure popped up completely [Music] you see I didn't dispute death can you please keep it okay did you smell it top that always come on we are awesome Ellie okay let me just tell you son listen you got tore the baddest woman arguably two of the best of both worlds I would've wore speedos who my brother crit No okay you listen we all looked up to you in the hood and we was like dad like in our mind I don't know you said you did but it's like yeah you could blow up your crap and you can [ __ ] [Applause] okay let me tell you how much I'm like yo Eric who's in there again we're never there again whatever I get this out much because I thought they told me you don't drink champagne though you don't drink it but I just wanted to get you a bottle of dog Harry all for me no I appreciate it because in my mind I thought we was going drink champagne because I just be looking at I was like what was that ain't no half-stepping when you went to the ring mm you and the ring and I just in my mind where they fed you water it was champagne for the money in the record I do drink champagne it's just I prefer one but I'll be drinking ok I cool well yeah no listen okay I just gotta throw this out there every guest that we have a hat did a shot of something all right so you would would you like the adult in watch shot one shot or something this is what I recommend it's called tango that's semi verbal it's tomorrow this is no sugar missing case this is this is a Chinese herb it's heavy which is saying in a lot of something else yeah yeah if you take college later ginseng yes you don't you can even hide all [ __ ] week oh do not leave it all behind yeah because you know Kane there's no outlet for us behold I get the size of these [ __ ] shot glass come on we don't yeah yeah there we go there we go there we go okay good alright get one so it's okay you know when we me and my part let me say hey we said you know we had had a radio show prior to that but on his radio show we was just playing around he's [ __ ] but we just said sat back and said there isn't an outlet for our people are all the Statesmen people who put in this work are people who did what they had to do and let's sit down a bit saluting so we want you to know that this is what we're doing tonight Big Daddy Kane first off you raised me in case you ain't know it or not get racy I'm sure you raise how these [ __ ] in their room and if you didn't raise these guys in your room they parents [ __ ] to your music so you raised them indefinitely indefinitely so I'm directly in direct indirect because I just want to say Big Daddy Kane who should be saluted everyday at a [ __ ] year I got you a Virgo we won't get into that later I said time attempt correct yes sir that day should be Big Daddy Kane [ __ ] holiday just do whatever the [ __ ] you want to do on that day she could be able to piss on your boss feet and just come to [ __ ] work and just do whatever the [ __ ] you got to do but I don't know if you know this is how we do it Kane this is hotter hotter as Tiger ball misses drink champs [ __ ] [ __ ] and this is to Big Daddy Kane oh you [Applause] it's not good at all okay I'm growing up yes sir I'm following I'm a kid how do I become a smooth operator you know lots of times I talk to the youth about their career and it's like I always try to tell cats you know that you know you got to give your fans you you cannot follow the trend you know because trends come and go so when that trend is gone you're gone because she was a part of it there's nothing special about you there was nothing special that made them you know try to disassociate you from whatever the hell else was going on you have to be somebody this unique give them something original something with it wouldn't gravitate to what you do what you represent you know I'm saying that's something I've always thought was important in in an artist you know I mean you you got to give them something special you know and I mean you know I honestly I feel like you've done that right you know think I don't think you know that you were all cut out to be the smooth dude you will cut out to be what you are exact and you wear it well they wear it well thank you you know I'm Sam it's mrs. Lewis for me can be similar to me you and you over here listen you you you wait you your twin you come in look listen I'm sure he was made up for Big Daddy Kane record this is my accident but he's good to be dead kid but you guys we got a popular dog very on to it he got a spotted dog hurry up yeah you come get a glass and that's about it you want to get one ticket second shot no but seriously I don't know who like who really like where I go to the movies and I really focus on scenes that deep but I mean you know when I was watching um paid in full I'm watching a lot of the people that had little cameos and a little spots in there and I mean like yo that scene with you that yo I mean I made it all up yeah but the whole thing is that you stayed focused and you made your presence felt you know you didn't just fall back and just be a part of the script learn you may be present you felt you came across some camera great man like yeah I'd love to see more [ __ ] like that man now speaking of movies you did the posse boom I mean how was that experience but that was like that was that was like we we know we thought like there it came that we're coming back so all the song can it'll be like okay yeah we're coming back so I mean I'm gonna be honest with you it's like you know I enjoy doing it it was the type of work that I wanted to do because I didn't want to be on the big screen being a rapper or being a thug because I mean you know you didn't see me do that in a video it's like that's the music life you know said if we act and unless they let me do something like yeah so having to you know arm speak in a penal in a period voice and you know ride horses you know I mean I thought that that was beautiful and I mean I enjoyed that opportunity Big Ups much respects to Mario Van Peebles forgiving yourself you know I'm sad but I tell you one thing though that [ __ ] was a culture shock like never before what you mean by that like I'm you know on the set of the set life like you know I mean were you from Miami okay okay whoa Queen yeah yeah so just like Brooklyn you know what we see on day-to-day basis is cat dog you know you see a cat in a dog debate time you nighttime you see the restroom out that's what we see you know saying honorable mention to the roaches I'm out there messing with tarantulas scorpions woodpecker's snakes bro let me tell you something somebody if you want some carving on my door every morning 5:00 a.m. and my dumb ass getting there open it up [Laughter] real talk let me taste something Oh somebody asked me one time about you know like your why you never make like nope nope no gangsters [ __ ] man and I was like you know cuz I mean I guess the film's they took them up not it some use gangster records I never I never didn't know you don't know gangster [ __ ] you know sound out spit hard but not gangster but I mean you know I explained to myself well for one reason there's all P a girl that worked on the posse said they could pull my car real easy and let anybody know they ain't not that - they ain't true because when we was filming one day we coming off set my dude like the people they over there like telling us to go like this to walk another way they whispering and I can't you know I couldn't simply saying this is going off for a few minutes long story short I couldn't take it no more I'm just like yo what they said rat la funky caught up with me grab my wrist like the snow saver and I mean you know my food you know yo I mean I remember being at a party I took the chicken 200 speaker while they're shooting inside the club and I'm standing out there you don't saying I mean you know the gun that that stuff don't bother me so yeah I'm not a gangster stuff because we heard stories that you mean were like like like supreme magnetic the sport of Aegeus brain from Brooklyn that's not dude yeah so we always heard those stories so we always automatically thought there was it was just you that's not if you say that's not that was at all that you have the videos you I was convinced game you can't take you take it back man I'm a nice guy I'm a nice guy you know I'm a nice guy to drink red wine and finger pop Madonna let's make some noise that's how cool I think we won't blow that picture up and put it right here in the stores I'm not gonna lie put that in my house I'm not gonna lie say you'll be interviewing Cain like 15,000 I was to be and I was like that's not Madonna but I thought you were Madonna had did a separate photo show I didn't know Naomi Campbell's in it and I only Campbell so how did that get hard in the photo shoot I'm saying you use it you was it was already like I mean you know it's like you know a certain point in your life you just get an understanding about certain things and you just I guess look at life differently because she got a straight old all the professor you see at night holy moly guacamole I'm just keeping it real okay I mean it's like this you know I'm a Madonna fan you don't Sam you know borderline physical attraction all the me joints you know I you know rocking or watching the videos on Friday night videos you know and I she's a very attractive young lady you know you know you Naomi Campbell you know she's fine too but I mean you know at some point your life after you don't just so much you know and you know you know your mentality get a certain way you know sometimes you just come to the realization that you know the best [ __ ] you ever had is the [ __ ] you've never had and it's so much more fun just thinking about my head let me bring it down okay have you ever in your life bag the fine [ __ ] that was I mean built amazing got it back to the hotel dodo bird yeah Wow yeah you know I'm saying just wet dodo bird you know I give you them crazy psychotic looks or or can't do doggy style you know this just just everything just all evolved you know sanneh you say just don't ruin it no no what I'm trying to say is that but Java is more exciting when you was saying don't ruin it by but trying to bag it Oh exactly what's your illness gopi story came did a [ __ ] wait outside your door with milk for some reason I just from my cheesecake wait outside Safa like Pootie Tang you never see that because Cain can you was there I guess my Ellis one would probably be you see oh yeah probably the L out or the same one in nitrile 12 just look like you had a nitrile - well he gives out flowers the robe sister [ __ ] he's cheating [ __ ] give it out nothing if you give me not Rose you're pulling out today it's busy like let the [ __ ] you that's really I mean that might have been what mess me up that night who knows alright this told about okay I mean no because I mean it was like Russell Simmons actually introduced me to this chick and you know she was Clinton came back to the hotel and me and Russell and I think me loss of Andre Carell I believe we just bought a bar and she came in ll was over there signing autographs and she went to L now I'm not telling this story everybody okay she what the hell you know chasing them I've seen them they they chopping it up oh it's too late now they did sharpen it up on whatever and I got seeing Ellen like pinch their cheek or something like that and as she walked over to the bar to me now my problem with that was she can't go on no no problem is that it's like this year you told to come meet me at the room so after L shot you down you spoke of the elevator for you come to the bar none lets me know that you saw me all this goddamn time that I just was making just choosing in front of me you know okay so it's like I code so we get upstairs you know we get a pop in and you know I'm into what I'm doing and you know I mean it turned into you know one of the type of things where you know I you know I'm sorry to get my are Kelly on you know you know I mean it's like you know when I was young I did a bunch of wild stuff man crazy stuff more you know I mean like I mean dissing the situations where like several people I had to go back and you know not had to it just felt just wanted to you know I went back and I apologized for a lot of crazy stuff I did you know cuz you know I'm 49 now I'm married populist you know and I mean I love my life I love my family and you know it's like you know I just look at things differently now you not your [ __ ] down oh yeah [ __ ] you was the man in 88 I was born in 77 that means like roughly that guy was Milan Tim I was all brought me down as a day I seen you I said damn four feet away before finger wait how you finger pop was length back in style back then but legally you wanna leave what the dry hump a finger pop understand cuz I was like ten what that was part of like 1342 butch Walker scolded me but sure he wasn't talking about finger puppet who got be the finger partment still poppin because a good Paul there's a back of the dais composer gonna pop everything like I don't never do what you got what are you calling with it there was saying back in a day this is like 97 like he's the Lord of club just he wants to finger pop finished like I never really got like I get like you're in a moment like my finger bottom right before roughly like he would bring a pop of public peace [Music] take pause can we go back to the biggie Tupac coming out of that stage with you your relationship would pop right and big like can you talk about that like this go pop first yeah well I've known parks since he danced for digital right but that's how we first met um when I brought digital on the road yeah my chocolate city tour and we got cool D and he told me that you know he's coming out with his own stuff as a solo artist and he's is he's took me told me no it's not gonna be like this digital stuff you know I'm got a whole different direction he's fit for me and you know dude dude was nice so I've known him since then biggie on the other hand I never really had a relationship with we've been around each other I think maybe like twice but um there were several phone calls that we had I guess like certain career decisions that he was making and all mr. C would call with him on the line and you know we chopped it up and you know he you know he tell me what's going on I guess ask me what do I think you know my view on it or whatever so I that's really our relationship over the phone we never really kicked it you know but um I've always respected both of them admired them as artists and you know just looked at their deficits sad losses for hip-hop and the world you know during their when they were going you know the rivalry part did you speak to any of like Tupac I spoke to a spoke to pop but it was brief and it was kind of interval interrupted by Moore East Coast West Coast drama because it was like a conversation we started on an airplane and by time we got to Jeff Ross - do you know somebody presented him with some more drama about you wasn't yeah yeah this was that time it's not that time yeah this is that time you know we was talking about it I guess I was trying to you know make him understand you know what it was and it seemed like I was getting through but then you know soon as we got to the studio here come cats talking about you know mob Deeping um Lauryn Hill was just pulling on at the MTV MTV answer something's trying to play you they were saying something such as such and you know they filled it up write it back up again and you in that studio yeah yeah yeah can you got so much goddamn has we dealt we definitely need a big Daddy Kane day all right it's the timber temp and we can do for declaring it on drink chapters right never happen so Tim with Tim this Big Daddy Kane day you just gotta cut your eyebrows come outside if you can pull off the high top do it pull out the hot top guide your barber gotta be nice though your blahblah gotta be nice this you can't have it can I think I rock the flattop right now on this all these kids are doing it yeah I say they doing the Cain flats I know some of them are I mean I see they've got the key they don't fully came though they I guess whoever this I think is a popular basketball player that they are referenced it to now I forget who were on but yeah okay kids ain't gay yeah I made you know that I was gonna come in I mean I have a picture in my house of my pops with one in the 60s it was that and I thought it didn't kill every black man created it you know I mean so this is this is this is all engineer cocaine has default in the eighties was cocaine happy an eighties studio 54 with her song I mean I remember again like you know heavy around the hood like an early age matter fact late seventies early eighties I remember cuz dual coke was like fly back to exactly like it was there all the luxury drug yeah but I mean like the first time I was like really around it around it it was in the 90s like I had a party and somebody was doing it at the party you know it are the first time I like really around it around it you know how they was doing it there's at the party just well nah the ass could they use on one of the bedrooms because he was having mansion parties and sympathy or something like that but you know I told me no go ahead but then you know what happened was they switch rooms and went to the wrong wrong wrong so when I came in here to tell him to leave out of this room you know I seen that he lives you know gonna dress whatever you know if I me without my first time like being around it like that you know so what's the best time okay that's the most fun you ever had I mean honestly was amazing a pop I feel like the finger pop it's gotta be that one time three we're saying like I'm gonna be honest I think he's finished this mic with that stone no I mean honestly I mean my best time in hip hop was probably mid to late 80s you know because you had like you know so many different artists when nobody really sound the same nobody sound to say nobody sounded this they did try to you know yeah and it was a couple copycats but they just all got never working when you go to a party you know the most thugged-out dudes you know with dance when goes Tesla come on rent without a pause top billing you know say Brooklyn's in the house when on cyber songs game on he did his chilling yeah top belly you I'm cold and I redid that on my album to it with no D no I mean it's like you know that's us so it's like that is not that ever hip-hop because it's like you know prior to that was um you know the Run DMC Houdini Furious Five you know that got era but you know it's like I don't think that that era was like like as never cool that's too late Air Arm 80s and only wrong melly-mel coup Modi Grandmaster Caz those were never cool piece but I mean it was like it wasn't we're like radio and fans like the hip-hop fans about like really focused on the lyrics like that like they were in the late 80s like we're like you know you whack we don't want to listen to you you know say well how did those guys that set you back then that was an interesting point if you just broke up there you named all other legends who came before you like like right now we're dealing with a time that these young guys are the guys they are the guys they are the look like they are the chosen ones for now right but they look they actually look down on my generation mm-hmm you know them says so how was it for you when you was the guy was the people prior to you looking down on you guys in your opinion well I mean you know of melly-mel yeah yeah melly-mel was in the beginning if I did ended up becoming real cool okay I'll just you know them again but I mean you know it's like you know with no you got to understand that every spected alright because he feels like he kind of pioneered it and I mean it's not about him feeling that way he did it did yeah okay you know I mean what hospital had created melly-mel perfected you know I'm saying if they like if there wasn't a melly-mel me you and everybody else would have been on the mic you know oh come on alright you know I'm saying melly-mel perfected emceeing he made it what it is you know I'm saying he is the architect of MCN melly-mel and I'm saying so it's like you know you got to understand for him to not really get his you know proper respect right there of course he won't be bitter so it's understandable you know fella over here I'll drink chance wee bit on nothing but he'll we need me it's a massive hill and I think they hired really bailed before they start and it was out it was it was crazy for me that like just see him he going he's still you know the him haha but he still do that and destroy something like and he'll take it to do different generations he'll sing other people records it was amazing I forget that yeah with them tight pants on he still doing a leg cross and stuff and drop down on the floor hold that what ask the realest thing any of you say - he's not here to [ __ ] up I mean you know you know you know that Modi I guess multi thing was pretty much more personal with him @ll so me and him met you know we broke bread we was cool and with me and Grandmaster Caz it was a type of thing with you know I'm that Cavs know that I'm a student at him that everything I do lyrically our older helped you know I mean ass gets enough recognition actually so kind of like I mean when okay young and then go back to one of the first question you asked me Tony T when I was first started my name was Tony T like I thought I was killing it I had something like I'm the teals and why the te e but your eyes can't see I know the tricks and I know the trades and I'm sharp as a [ __ ] razor blade I thought I was killing it and then all right my man flayed this joint for me and cash is on there talking about Grandmaster Caz captain of the for another [ __ ] couldn't touch me if he had a rhyme store even if he had a plant manufacturing revives he couldn't make him no better than I make mine I'm like I'll get my whole notebook up is start of my life over you did what the [ __ ] were you drinking and Brooklyn they all were spitting the cadence day I was bit it's like I'm in Miami and now when we reflect back yeah I was doing double time ahead of that beam the trend oh well they really started Harlow with moti really yes okay they really started in Harlow the moti may be that wrong I'm a super fun to make money make riders quicker but that's how I forgot how to rhyme go yeah that really that def real fast that's true started I think of it like Modi and in Harlem but I mean I mean it's it's like you know in Brooklyn I think that the whole cadence and everything that you hear from a lot of Brooklyn see speaking of myself jay-z biggie fabulous it's that it's that pip [ __ ] because it's like in just the way we view stuff like arm like you right master D having a party you know like you know master D jamming you know you're gonna get you you know your v-neck sweater you know you know your double net thing ravine that joint your mock neck the top under it you know some jeans to the permanent crease increase baby and you know you're British Walker's and you know that was that player [ __ ] that we wore like you know like that's that's how we coming to a party that's like a hip hop party you know sad so it was like that type of thing where it's like you know we looked up to the dues as talking [ __ ] in the barber shop or in the pool hall depends on the corner so then it was that type of slick Lango that we appreciated and respected you know saying like it was like that type of lingo and I think that s what really defined a lot of Brooklyn MCS and made them a lot different than other you know artists from different boroughs you know now speaking about that I sent you a couple of players balls back then what the [ __ ] we'll be doing in the players ball I thought I was a pimp for a week now you can charge your I tried to get me to admit to being a gangster so how you think this won't work at the players balls a cup nine Georgie company so like how is Kane just connected to all these worlds like in the most respectful way my kid just connected to the illest [ __ ] I mean you know I mean it's like you know I move around I'm a I guess what you can call a soul searcher you know I'm saying I mean I can I can I can I can 500 for energy man you don't say and I love positive energy you know positive energy might be in a room full of pimps we allow their suits on but they end up buying each other champagne talking [ __ ] to each other having a good time you know I agree it might be that type of situation it might be a function that a bunch of women I have and where they're talking about how women can become leaders and have higher positions and jaws and it's a bunch of black women just talking about that trying to build something positive you know but I just I love positive energy man I'm not gonna know I know exactly what you mean because I was never a pen but I took a like you to juju I said I like in a pen we can that's like a like in a bishop but they're like in the hall eliminate took a liking to me today we're invite me to these events and I become so one day I just actually I'll just actually try to actually be a brother like so I I actually have my gold cup and I went to his white girl said [ __ ] choose she chose a bug in a row of doing 50 nights you know but yeah so I'm a pimp up my career because I go to the players ball they gave me the cup they gave me the players car you had to be a real player to get a place card did you have a player's card with the gold the gold player's card them look look worried I want to give my cause back I was like Joe I've laughed Billy up but they accepted me so I respected the culture pemmican not a lot of news is cooled down songs you like juju juju juju juice real real good dude man arm an arm good good good I think he's I think he's getting down okay I could be wrong about the keys to that but ya know I met Kenny red from any brand of cool yeah yeah real good dudes man on you know I mean yeah you know Bishop that's that's my dude yeah I thought you know funny as hell you know but I mean you know I mean yeah it was a time in my life where I had to really sit and reflect on something that he told me do you don't say so I mean it's like you know I have the utmost respect for Bishop please no oh yeah yeah so Oh what it was uh nothing like Cain pimping tonight okay I move on okay now all right back in the days this is before you met your wife right I heard you smashed a female cop at a concert is that true your limo it was in a concert female pulled you over you pulled oh that's a lot man that's not that okay I got maybe said no autographs on yo so do you look at you do you look at your life and like my new EP is is I want a title in my life don't do you ever look at your money from that yellow light like the [ __ ] that you accomplish by coming from nowhere and just say [ __ ] I did yeah I mean I mean I'm happy I mean to be honest with you it's the final chapter that makes me happy okay you know cuz I mean it's like you know when I was younger I did a lot of crazy stuff and it was fun you know for the moment you know but then after Wally you know like how we say anything about the you know the best never had you know now how he's saying that I mean it's like you know it's fun for the moment didn't get boring but now you know Sam being it wakes up you know I got a four-year-old and B having me on the floor playing with on transformer dolls and the Transformers still Katie my four-year-old say that new joints I know they did they got transformer still it was pony varnish it like a John I know I know I'm on the fourth floor playing with transformers with my four-year-old and all my vengeance characters and you know doing stuff like that you know my wife talking to me about dinner and showing me stuff online that she want to order for the house and all this stuff I mean you know it's like that's the thing that you know I mean that she wanna that's that's that's just that's that's not what I wanted that's how I wanna live do you know you know these final days out no I want a little not like that I dig that let's go see your final days Kenny because you gonna live forever that's what the [ __ ] week particularly drink champs that's before well I mean I want to sit on a song I may die one day with my rhymes will remain like a Harvard so yeah I know I know I'm he turn elite I'm just saying that you know I mean I'm just saying they say a flesh you know five along you see a flesh you know a lot of woman a little constellation huh you go to Costco more executive memoir coming one day but you got Gotham's Costco let's do it I'm saying you know up Dyslexic are there any big daddy came regrets Bobby that didn't [ __ ] my daughter [Music] you know it's like this it it's like the equation you know say I mean I mean it's it's like you know when you're looking at death what the answer is right you know that's what's important and what the answer is is what my life is now and whatever it took to get it where it is now it was all worth it having regrets may change all to something right and I may not have the family I have so no I'm not you know I'm not gonna you know say that I have regret regret when you was at the top cuz like very people can see like I've had success ahead problem never had a type of success that you had like being the only guy at that top of that got that bit and then you have people who follow like a big a J or nos or whatever but I've always been like a step behind you guys like was it over overwhelming when you was just acting everybody I would kind of imagine how much your people were swinging cuz they probably wasn't phones back then was able overwhelming where you were just like damn like you you you asked for it you got it and then you is just like dad was it ever like that I don't know what me because you know I'm a private person you know it's like with me I like to come around people spread love and then go to the comfort of my home right you know you know you feel like that since then yeah I mean like you know I go around the way sit out on you know on with some fabian or coho to my peeps clip and brief other projects you know all the people in Brookline organ on see hang out you know by like a half a gallon a Hennessy you know you know get to maybe like about two ounces of weed you know and let them you know do what they do and said I did share with them you know cash they wanted to let flow a little you know we get a little safer going spit something whatever you know and I mean you know I might have you know a little self you know but it's like you know I'm just watching and enjoy itself you know Santa's these brothers that I respect and they still in the hood trying to you know come up I want to inspire them you know said you know just stay focused you know I'm saying keep tracing chasing that dream and then I take my ass home and then yeah then I break open my fifth of em you sit back I listen to my ballpark and Otis Redding or David Ruffin you know the stuff I was I'm not the rockets and hip hop them I come on I'm tossing David vote for just reading some more smooth stuff and just lay back and I'm shelling now I'm good yeah this is my life you know now you got a regular to pop Pepsi ever correct yeah well there was one with me Park and hammer and then there was just one with just me a pop and the one you'll park is called whoever you are yeah and how are you is too late player too late yeah yeah I got junior joint too late yeah yeah oh so soon that's crazy so I dad pop write that pop that you back because you just said earlier use like your new pocketful front of it those records are pre death-rope up the old songs all having that same night I'm telling you about a different studio in LA that same night while so so a hammer was signed a death row - yeah this is all the same night his why did you go underground pop I'm going to turn into the death row problem did you know Percy you can understand it's like Park spit for me and when he spit for me I saw that he had lyrics and I saw where he was going with it the revolutionary side upon yeah I saw that you know I'm saying but I mean you know it's like I didn't know exactly where he was gonna go with it you know that means like you know you see spit for me and then you know like you know three hours later you know you know he's on his you know stage doing the Humpty dance with liquid on something I don't really know where he won't go you can't sleep because he's dancing with ujin underground like plugs here he kick is some products you like for example I got my dancing Scooby scrappy right to try to imagine school but square doing the same thing I did would be a difficult site because they've already been seen yes yes crap alright you see I'm saying I'm saying yeah so it's like I didn't know how to the public would perceive it right no sad right and that day when you've grown big and pop both on your stage is this scoop on the stage - yeah Ryman yeah what what but did you know those those two dials return it to the people they turn into all you did well at that point Park was already on his way you know big was enough to come er yeah cuz it was what happened was on see called me and said yo see which is really how we all like in Miami how we heard this freestyle he put on the mixtape and we all heard around the I mean the reason why anybody heard is because mr. C because he was smart enough to record to show their right to see professor yes and in fact yogig winner Budweiser super fest master screw every night we onstage with Patti LaBelle gerald levert MC Lyte mom silk I mean it's a lot of me I think BBD a lot of major artists every night but that particular night she decided to record that's crazy he hadn't recorded none of the mothers he recorded that night you know so the rest of the world heard it thanks to mr. C matter of fact let's give mr. [Music] he called me and was like yo big want to come and you know he was wondering I'll farm you know no matter of fact all he said was big one to call me that's all he wanted he said big one to call me and I was like oh cool then he hit me back to say yo um did you have a record though yeah I may have had party and [ __ ] partying [ __ ] okay yeah but then he hit me back and said yo Tupac is in town filming of this basketball movie about program yet I don't think he knew nothing he said he's from his desk well done and he wanted to bring him with him and you know me with the my battle my estate I'm like yeah Brendan sorry mom so because you want to battle them well I mean it was like you know there's nothing personal I'm not nothing right just this is this is the brother to me in the beginning is career right so I had nothing but nothing but this is hip-hop you know I said so I'm like you know yeah yeah bring them down so that was you know my mind-state was so Nate got there you know this can you believe this and I told him getting on yo you know y'all won't get on so that's really what my mind state was you know I mean who wouldn't know that it would have turned into what it turned into right you know because when you see that beef transpire because you you know the night that you just had mrs. at the garden correct the power vessels at the garden so you know that that night it just had you just had to both on stage with you actually and then you hear about this this beef you ever thought it would have went this far I mean you know it's like I did your two-part question I'm sorry do you ever think it went this far and it not only that did you ever try to interject and like just try to like well I told you I tried to interject all on the plane from calling - totally the throttle yeah to try to explain that I think I interrupted with more [ __ ] yeah but I mean it's like I didn't think it would go this far I mean I was surprised do you know because I mean it's like that battery will record you understand it here's one from no okay I'm aware of you know artists battle in the parties going against each other and they got a ride on the same train home Wow you know I'm saying this is type of [ __ ] I seen you know that I mean cold fresh melon fantastic big pond busy being cool Modi ll and COO moti you know said I mean obviously MC Shan and caris one you've seen the batter and then that's not something separate I'm saying I've already seen that is I've seen yeah yeah it was just bad em sin you know I mean I mean if she shed on the same label and him and caressed one battle in each other and you okay care is one miss melody helped me move out of my mother's grip when I first move out my parents into my own spot carries one of Miss Melanie helped me move out was it you you made an appearance in the self-destruction video yeah which is which is Karen's one miss Melanie for the girl together I mean I was supposed to be on the song but apparently I was lied to you know yeah somebody told me that I guess so the date was according was a day that I had a show or something like that camera and they told me that was the only day that I can record Hoku's yeah I found our way later that you know that I think maybe Chuck D and somebody else has recorded a vocals on another day but they told me they're all not a recording everything that day so I'll just you know I just assumed I was should hang I'm going to make it so you know it is what it is but I'd have enough to bid on that song imagine itself this dachshund the Erica self-destruction jeez Louise poverty see if I mean over that what we saying I mean it's like you know with all our saw you know in my lifetime when it came to M CNN ball so you know me you know I mean this is something I've been doing since 1982 just going to different people who push down on them oh who you bet some see over here you know around yeah let me holla let them you know this is what I've been doing since 1982 until I got a deal you said I said so it's like this is understanding I have like you know this is hip-hop this is what we do so to biggie and Park we see what they went through I'm like because they gotta be crazy from you coming from our battle state and see him and then but you had to feel different from hearing Tupac cinema that was a different type of disrupt disrupt correct to you it had to be to you to listen because I'm born in 77 so like y'all generation is like just right before minds right so I've heard the Battle of [ __ ] but it was never like when to plot took it did would hit him up like hit him up was like this was something like yeah when he went at his wife when he was just everything that he said it was just like there's no coming back from this you had never seen I'm not gonna miss my kids worst if I'm not gonna say that there's no coming back because if you understand the art of war there's always a way back you notice that on me I don't know you know what Big E mentality was like back then but if you understand the art of war there's always a way back you know I mean I Lee beat George Foreman when nobody else could Thanks you know I'm Sarah Mike Tyson I think he meant there's no way back after four pop yeah hot cross the line yeah yeah there's no way there's no because like I mean I've been so then we didn't hit this records like that we heard this way that's like kill your girl Nizar downs like we listened oh yeah we didn't hear like [ __ ] you know then I mean it's like this then I understand [ __ ] it y'all just can't be friends no more yeah y'all just can't be friends no more but now your question is this you know I'm saying all right you ready to take it down or you want to reply the choice is yours you know like now if you take it then the battles over it's some Street [ __ ] now it's a kind of textbook if if you're ready to take a deal to battles over sisters you say in a few hours battle and y'all start fighting then that's it the battle is over okay how to keep it on the streets back then I mean it's like you see if you feel like somebody violated your family you know just respect your family that way you know I say and and you ready to take it there then I mean what's the purpose of battling just just go ahead go where you got to go with this you know if that's what you choose or if you choose to respond and finally it hit lyrically you know I mean it's this you know the choice is yours I mean it's like I can't really speak on it or say you know what it should have been because it's like you know this is what Park said about big this is not what part said about me right there was obviously more things that play with that beat that we don't really get I mean my thing is this man you know besides all that at the end of the day had puffs and Suge sat down and had a meeting on some Don King Bob Arum [ __ ] they could have said listen we gonna charge Whoopi wolf for pay-per-view yeah and we're gonna let them go three songs apiece I'm gonna keep it real come give me a second yeah we're gonna let them go three songs of peace yeah then after the third song we let them go two rounds of battle rap and we're gonna have people judge call in the judge and will control the 1-800 or 1 900 whatever number to get money off of that and they both could have got I'm your own fault I'm kind of got filthy or demeaning Park big off you don't say that's the way that should have been done I mean you know sin turn into some real hip-hop [ __ ] make it you know some way you can make money off some real balance that's how it should have been done in my head all right like the MC Shan KS like they was going on tour at one point Shannon well you that was brought about because of the sprite commercials right come on I know sir but I mean you just just could have been turned into something that could have kept the hip-hop but civilized and maybe both of them will be with us but at all all due respect and shantamma stills a little bit mad at cameras right now and Kara is sit on our show that it was a semi serious this home saying she she was serious still see Shan like MC sham pick him up Wayne's Bridge finest but I still see Shan like every now and then heavy tweet clicks I see it's still a fan dissing care ass like he's still like man but you still here to diss each other and that's the big difference - they're still here to diss each other and that's the big difference I'm sorry I had to chose black what I'm saying is does it doesn't commit the same damage because when you got Shannon still like you know every you know he still has a personal care ass I mean that's really on the individual you know saying I mean if you're gonna lose sleep at night over losing a battle that's on you you know that's on you because I mean um cause she's supposed to get dumped on and keep it moving is better than losing in life yeah so now let me tell you something why me honestly so I can see if if you in it for the culture right you know say your battle MC and you want to be the best battle MC if you lose a battle then don't take it as a loss take it as a lesson and then it's not lost this is a lesson no said figure out what you did wrong like a boxer you know cuz I mean I remember people asking me about the whole jay-z NAS thing who's me going okay and are you going with that I said no way and I was wrong no way about who or what I said I thought that there was no way that NARS could could could win that oh I thought there was no for a simple fact that you [ __ ] up okay I'm sure at the moment it means here's here's the thing hey I need to hear your theory I knew that jay-z was more sarcastic and when I met nas I didn't really see no sense of humor you know saying for the first time at nas he's only John played Sulu you know huh John plays videos no no no unique studio okay oh you need your unique studio D 7th Street oh yeah it was on that room unique studio unique studio and we was chopping it up and I mean I didn't see a sense of humor in him you know sad but if you'll admit his brother John that's no funniest thing in the world well see you had you use more inside silence it's like I'm sitting there like knowing jay-z's sense of humor I'm like you know someone did you notice did don't have fun don't play around cuz see in my mind I guess I was I was seeing another battle playing out right okay so someone else had a sense of humor so it's a series okay look I knew Harvey cut your look because look when people may hear me like on our M&M wrecking right now this is the first time I'm ever gonna say this this is a I did two or three interviews where people ask me you even call you even call beginning you were forgot it was like that's gay the Hansons guess what you say probably so look so when I heard Eminem against jay-z I've never looked at it like M [Music] destroy yeah I just did because I actually kind of related to jay-z's verses more than I did Eminem and that's not I love him in it it's just I don't be knowing the biblical is it was it with a little bit of it's really residuals I don't know that all right but I don't like awkward boxes left Ian's as well like I don't I know that right so people think that I'm crazy when I say that I look at that record as if it's a great record right you even know her that Jane you Tom oh I don't think I don't feel like Jay got by right well right but on ether and the takeover nas one two percent one man one hundred percent if you can just take over to eat them now super ugly I don't even want to count that because it was a emotional wreck right you can tell like Jays one of our best emcees we can't even we didn't even judge them we should even rate him all for that but just do it those two days now it's definitely one James my man how's my man but I think yet but because of what you said it's because of I felt like he took it too seriously like you feel like a bad indifferent who deserves I thought I'd change that it's so serious like no no I mean no you you you you could be right because I don't think that Jay expected what Naz didn't either so you never saw that do you think that Jay underperformed or NAS overperformed that's what you thought oh not want oh I know G to turn you time terms let's just burn Jay Z bar ignores or takeover it's just that the response that nas had on ether I didn't see coming in a million years right angle are the onions and he took a long time to remember Kane he did just respond now y'all days a person do a recce got to do it next week heat signals at the top you see I don't even remember like the with the window kill he killed me though I never liked out I never expected that from nars like years later I had a 2014 I had a conversation with knowledge and that was the first time I really saw like his sense of humor right or not now the funny thing yeah Northerly [ __ ] this was burnin it's for the tip [ __ ] is funny [ __ ] like I but I'm saying when I first met on their unique studio is quiet yeah Kawai yeah like he was really sitting there talking to me and taking it in right no of course you let you can of course nobody want to be funny in front of you okay come on [Applause] anyway I think when people meet you they hug you and I'm gonna give you a fob but in a mine even if they don't do it they go on like this is facts they're going back thanks man me tell you something man you really laid it out for us to play it out you was the guy in front of you no masses finger pop my down yo use no Madison you guys you had yeah you know these these tremendous records you toy you did everything and the thing about drink chance we don't want you to have a full like your life is over for your life has ever been misplaced here at drink chance we want a big up these other young boys they got these other outlets where they could go on now they could play their music and that's not what it he'll drink Chaplin drink champs you want to salute our legends I mean I appreciate that man no no 100% you know I do listen I got thick eyebrows right now because I was cutting my eyebrows I was I had to eat cuts in my heart trying to find out I've seen the same thing happen to King three cuts in you know my students already dig anyway but I was like I was a young [ __ ] like 11 years old and I cut my three they do you know how influential you was whatever you did but this is the reason why Jane has to always salute you because he accident like whatever you did you came out of role we wanted to roll you had a four feet away we wanted away yeah a rope chain we wanted a rope chain and I was just being a wanted person huh no that's love every other [ __ ] presented like you you as you as the arm was that say cold out there trendsetter whatever you did we follow like other that's what that's what you you know you you you have to be man you have to be that you know I'm sorry you have to create you know your lane you know you have to create that otherwise you know you're just another piece on the table man you know you know you have to create your own lane what makes you unique you know and I mean don't get it [ __ ] up big homie I mean III think that you are a very unique artist yourself man because it's like you're no no cares about you today okay I'm uh subject sorry Charlie I'm good let me think something King one of the things that I want to do right - with all this transitioning of how the coaches moving what I thought of was you know I watched nwa movie i watched all these other people who will be right now it's it the two things one we gotta tell the big daddy kane started who is it going by app biopic biopic we got to get a big Daddy Kane final picture and not only that but this is also idea that I had I wanted to do the Clarence 13x movie and as I'm looking at you I think you play the fall now could you could you please you can pull playing father Clarence 13x and a Mormon why not I don't see them why not neither why I don't I don't see or not I only see yes would that be the ultimate role as an actor I'm a brother you call your people I call my lies is that a bee that need to be necessary because you won't be no pharmacy aren't you I think that I think that it would be beautiful I mean to be honest with you the state of the world today anything that has a positive view is that you know and anything that would be uplifting to black people in this time you know say and I have to say black people you know saying I have to you know be that specific because I mean you know this is an error we're not only you know are we going through so much with police brutality yes and you know you know just that whole lack of masculinity you know I mean not only that it's the type of thing where we're going against each other just to be famous on social media so that's it can you know that it's the type of thing we're right now we're in a situation where you know one black people go against another just to be able to say you know this is just something important or just being like knives like comments yeah on social media you know and I mean it's like you know it's just sad because it's not it's not unified it's not uplift but you remember your days like there was structure like five percent people like I remember like like you know coming out like a and if they knew my mother the godswood checked me the guards to be like yo hey you don't have that no more like if you really would have that exactly we have that in the industry meaning but that's deeper than your days okay you don't say that go back to the seventies you know is that go back to the 70s will Black Panthers and so on you know I mean so it's not like it was just you know on a thing you know with the fiber signature is this is something that this just deep that is not this we know a matter of fact even prior to that you don't say like like all you know I don't know if you know you know you know you got your grandparents are still with us but I mean they don't tell you you know it's like yeah you know they see a child over here [ __ ] up exactly you know a true son says boy exams you do it they would guess and it go tell your parents but put you but but you know that's when I see what's happening in a rap game in the rap game you you guys helped us and we it's all for us it's my generation's well we didn't give a [ __ ] about helping the next guys and I'm not saying me in particular because I'm generations everybody who I could help no okay yeah can you be be careful how you choose your words okay because on you know I don't think that this really started until the new millennium I don't think just started with your ever I think this started with the new millennium you know that's when this [ __ ] started the new millennium would need to respect the elders who said well I think what basically happened is like you know when we entered into this new century it wasn't the type of thing with cats that you know used to promote Stefanie Mills in a Gap Band autumn way in control of rap when it confused normally how they doing now we actually have people in control of rap that love it about there they understand it party was a rapid himself that didn't make it right he knows that hmm they met there's someone that said I don't like grimy I don't like nothing why do I never get a deal I'm gonna push some bill artists I know on and you see they have this here mentality you know that and it's like you know what what started happening it's like you know people bringing in their camp their people their friends making them stars regardless of skill exactly so now therefore skills is going out the window and then from a label standpoint you know the stuff that we all went through hey well you know on my [ __ ] on double platinum we need to discuss these contracts they start changing this yeah creating these one-off deals or whatever you know and all this stuff with office and 360 bills well that came later you know it's a week after the sales started to you know um you know go to at least myself since I start to decrease in you okay yeah we're gonna need a little bit of your show money we're gonna need a little bitty girl merchants you know and you know it's like you know here we are in a whole different state of hip-hop where you know these authors are getting terrible terrible deals but you know it's like what use asking earlier about the older generation it's like yeah Mel might have been funky and whatever happened MO and L but I tell you this Mel did sit and tell me about his career Mel did sit and tell me the ends and out of his business when I got into it when I wrote the lucy's rap song man Rick James sat down with me and gave me a whole spill on the industry but J Dan but James bit Rick James said and gave me a whole spill and I came to this meeting on some arrogant [ __ ] on some old you know [ __ ] rip you said not because one with my man he was always bragging to me about you know you know how while it was a vigorous there and a definite much you know I'll doing my thing you know so I was like you know I get asked you know [ __ ] Rick was on it was different coke at this time I didn't see him do it but I did see Cole it was cocaine okay today as soon as I finish okay but anyway I mean it's like Vic change was giving me came I miss Barry White giving me gain there's so many artists that was giving me game see I'm saying Jalil from Houdini giving me serious game you know that and I mean I just this type of stuff I tried to do with jay-z like I told you earlier about mr. C calling me um we're big on the line I'm telling big how I would handle this situation what I think he should do you know say this is the new generation so sad DJ ever disappoint you at some point like you know you guys connected it was there for okay no I'm be honest with you I can't really say that because it's like I've always known Jay the way he is I know you say the person he is so there's no way he can't disappoint me you know because I mean I know I know him I need your expectations yeah I know what to expect from it and and I'm happy for him and I wish them continued success god bless you know um but I mean yeah it's like you know and I don't know what um jay-z and to pop and he's cast and Biggie what they did for any other upcoming generation but I mean you know it's like you know by me I mean I've heard stories about with Jay and Kanye damn - and Kanye whatever you know I thought and um we're Ludacris you know and I am always you know shouts you know how artists such as myself like Kim on several other so I mean it's like it was passed on but then you know that it came to point with they kept us apart there was a separation not created to the artist created through the industry of course you know Santa Claus do the late exploration days from going on all this so what do you think this like that are hip public to me to me I wanna prove like the point that like I could have won the championship I could have been a killer now like you know I've been platinum out you know that gold albums and now I want to turn it to media so I want to show people that you know you could be cool grown old I'm 40 years old just turned 40 years old why is it that people want to give hip hopera an expiration date why well I think one of the reasons is that if the youth of today connect with your generation is you after me you know so cool if you youthful did it you didn't really have to say of course if they connect with you then comes you schooling them on what real hip hop is and might make the want to think for themselves because right now they're not thinking for themselves cause it'd be reward quality hearing on the radio yeah this is what we need we need you to do this we need to just sound like we do movie yeah you know inkay don't about you don't know mommy no that's that's what is they think they tell you right no listen we looking for something more like a you know can you do this all right well going down you know bridles are us get you a dress and come on and [ __ ] with me and we were gonna make this hit song happy for you I mean that's was that right now you see the guy here's a wedding dress on oh yeah he's from Florida - that's what I heard I won't know that last bottle look we got two mono so you do that have a drink with me I don't have a dream with you I already separated my cups you know that's my red wine cup oh okay did you last a Rosie and 2017 this isn't Lucy this is the kids drinking okay you gonna have a drink with you either have a drink with me oh yeah we got we got a gift for you from 89 oh thank you I want to turn you on to something else too like you you into the champagne no I'm in the champagne yeah um there's a champagne call Billick hearts along okay I've never never heard of that you're very rich scam I'm sorry good this is sounding wrist bellicose alcohol what is it no no this is elegant it bill across Timon you will you listen no real talk you need to try that build a console not because I mean like I ever miss for like the booth Peter click oh yeah yeah like yeah and how I don't really have that you don't have that that nasta see no spill okay I learned this apart oh [ __ ] come on give me a give me a cup I'm gonna take one of yours you gotta take you got sick so this is our demo crops look at did you give that that's the best horn here make sure hold on them not stop Miriam that was war that's what we wanted around no fresco good let the king that can't choose his cup that's a king got them now look at that came oh okay okay you to waste okay now you toast you did drink I bored you and the tortoise drink you you bought me oh this is to Big Daddy Kane for all your accolades for everything you did for hip hop for every do you contribute it to hip hop for every time you had a bad day of hip hop but every time you had a good day at hip hop for every time you had a medium day at hip hop we want you to know that you will always be welcome and drink chance any time you want to introduce anything that you're doing and like we are here for you me and DJ we got a couple questions before we get out because my brother weirdoes reminded me of some weird thoughts but wonder what half-acre tracks that you were part of collectively burn Hollywood burn Chuck D Ice Cube yeah how did this come about was just give me a little joke had a concept he said what it was yes would I be down I said yeah and we made it made it happen and I mean you know it was like he had a visual because I mean it was like even though he had already explained to me what it was about when it was time to do it he explained again and went into deep detail and using references and all idea you know I'm gonna be no Chuck but he does Chuck you know so you know he long-winded you know and he went to deep deep deep deep deep details but I mean it was type of thing was that bro I'm happy to be on a song was that the first time you had worked with Q yeah yeah like I admit cube you know cute was always cool you know but here working together yeah so anyway one more Paul will you have all drink transports here he has us another question I didn't have a question as a fan I was when you talk about someone the man took off his hat scary animal give me handle it when you did the lean on me because that was all with Morgan Freeman and Robbie Guillaume and rest of you mean them like how did how did you get on the song how did you get the actual something we want a song because of Benny Medina you know oh I guess let me just stole Biddy vedere name came up a couple of times when this podcasters want to throw it out there Benny Medina's name came up with Mariah Carey and JLo continued nothing no she's talked about big [ __ ] right now sorry yeah you know Benny Medina you know he was on you know cuz Kane so smooth he said like anybody like to make it their own to bodega we're gonna relax he's a big thing I'm thinking I'm sorry yeah well I mean this is when he was at Warner Brothers and uh you know he was responsible for the whole Lean on Me soundtrack and it was so funny because it was like you know he told me about the song and I had a copy of the film and I did watch the film but didn't write the song because I was going through some other you know some some of you know con you know contract disputes you know of Coachella and and sergeants was like you know you know after song but in Ben he was aghast I'm the yeah I'm morning I'm on I'm on then one day Benny hit me and was like yo how he coming with the song and I'm like yeah we good and he said you know can we do it today I'm like um well I'll try and he said okay we're good I'm in New York on can you can I send a car to pick you up and bring you to Bali and up oh yeah you know so I think I make a habit yeah go but like I said I saw the movie but I didn't write the song so in the time that he made the call for the car and for the [ __ ] to my crib in Queens and for me to get the Queens up to Spring Valley that's the time I used to actually write lean on me actually another soundtrack that for me is instrumental is the juice soundtrack they are enough respective and that's another funny story because I mean Hank Shockley big was Charlie gonna be Public Enemy yeah bomb squad bombs yeah Hank Shockley wanted me to do this song but it was like at that point in time I think I was really focusing on my film career trying to get that jump-started so my mom was really there you know and he just driving me crazy about the song and he was like yellow can you do it when you get back to New York when I say that I mean like he meant that day I got back to heel and I mean you know I arrived in New York leave the airport cut my credit Hank shock we parked in my driveway sleep with his truck sleep waiting for me hide the man yeah so you know he tried to come to studio that night and you know right to join put together but you know we made happen other incredible very honest as I'm dreamin is where I want I immediately want to eat [ __ ] I don't know you're different they say a red one brings the best it make me want to listen to all this written but it's your choice it's just like this got weird for me do you finish my drink I want to know what it makes you feel like yeah but so the red wine this orange shift or orange with machete it's a care blend I like the weight I mean I'm not a hundred percent sure I think it's from correct I believe it's cab and sharam Syrah I think it's cabbage sera black Avenue and syrupy chiesa but you know orange woof they make some great wines they have the machete they have the abstract Palermo level up it in Italy okay well that's that's that's the only 100% Cabernet that orange with me all the rest of my cab blends mmm they make some great wines and if you go too long the on your spot in our Napa no it's like you when you and Nate this spot now it's not like the other spot think you sucked in the club we got music blasts and not capitalist cop in Napa all right but it's not like it's a shadow Valley they never there yeah it's we'll just you know strip okay right on the strip and yeah yeah I'm your orange Swift guy has has a great selection yeah I've never seen this this is machete yeah yeah but I mean if they have a bunt it's all the same one but they use different photos there's a lot of different photos or different dispositions demanda pre-ordered 1942 to kill right correct but we have never asked somebody order red wine and that's that's very classy you can I'm just made baby how'd you become a classy booklet a real story I mean growing up you know I mean watching my pops and keep in mind my pops is from a small town called Bowman in South Carolina but I mean you know you know from his younger you know he grew up in New York and I mean it's like yo when I was a kid in the 70s I see this dude like line his shoes up snakeskin gate or something lined them up like he might lie about six pairs of shoes and then put on a suit and then just go stand in front of HPS suit it's moving it down just just dancing its way down in front of each pier the sea which PMS to see him do it you know I mean I mean I've seen my pops go out in a two-piece suit they don't drive off and had a flat tire and he had to change the tire and he changed it in the suit and guy grease on a suit and you know he stood there stared at the tire like it came upstairs took a shower and do on a three-piece for a same time and stared again for about another two minutes and then got in the car job alright so it's like this type of stuff is like when I got the hip hop you know I like I said the battle rapping but once I heard Cass I was like all this do dreams cast amazing so literally I want to be cast image wise I wanted to be my pops because I was I just thought he was just dead there do you know so who's your favorite rapper from that era if you go if you could say there was one cash under wing from me growing up as a kid yeah Cass hope that master cat yeah I knew he's gonna say that so who's your favorite rapper for four from the middle era you mean like no no after after you guys oh yeah okay like the knives the roots like the 9-ball time I like the early night at night yeah oh man it's like our ice I had to say this way I have to say that lyrically lyrically my favorite was nas but my favorite MC was biggie you say I like be um cuz I just thought they were big it was amazing but lyrically out have to go ignores because you understand it's like playing in my era you know I come from where you know they put a cold la casa de play this no no no no no where you come in the club and you [ __ ] everything before will both of y'all y'all [ __ ] everything before I come from everywhere you know you know y'all young connection just cuz you're light-skinned and it was like you know we're Wesley's life stop that [ __ ] but you see it was something like a gimmick how you talking about good flattop there's something I had to talk about something like the brand I had a brand being tall skin you know sanneh brown and Bobby so wants to be my tender phone I'm gonna keep on you know Sanj Dawson and [ __ ] to make dark skin sexy was that I go to work lyrics right there yeah yeah yeah I get the job done I had to like keep you know saying dark-skinned [ __ ] you know I'm sandwich with [ __ ] like Kane is gone I could use tooth and nail just for you you will make a lot of money back then at that point you got the job done oh absolutely I mean absolutely absolutely it was fun like cuz do you think like cuz I feel like you was like the first person to have the commercial success where people no no no no no point eldini are you okay okay but both of those okay ll was light skinned for lighting purposes and then Houdini was a group so you was like the first to our skin chuckling god yeah okay okay yeah looked at like the king of hip-hop it's just like yeah I mean none see - good okay you see like I said that was something that I had to create that whole dark-skinned thing so now going back to biggie he took it to the next level and see that's what this thing is all I got to say yourself say it's all about you know I'm saying yeah you what you know no no it's like you know like you know okay you learn this from here okay and then you take it to the next level you learn from your predecessors and you take it to the next level like you know I mean yeah I made this dogskin thing sexy but my man big said early as ever however however I stick because it was like you're a lot you know I was in Birmingham Alabama at a club and seeing this crispy fat black dude at the bar chili with a coochie sweat upon versace shape shades and to even just put the stamp on the full stamp on he acted boy doing the biggie pop you know Jake's is digging up so it was like being made fat dude sex symbol yeah the fat Dubai's ugly sweater the same thing yeah yeah but be perfected yeah get took it to the next level yeah and yeah and pun that's another dude those but you know that time you talk that's my first time meeting him yeah I was talking to Chris about that cuz like no rivers Oh Chris all signs point I was telling him like arm that are throwing out from when I met him right he was just being funny he was it yeah oh [ __ ] my your big daddy can't you bring the kids an artist knows that John please John Wayne's video because it was like I've always been a pun fat and I first heard him I was like finally finally somebody give him a mangie wrap his props you know because I can I can hear the G bastard hey wanna be dancin Dan to see his videos and see that like yo I don't want my [ __ ] just not like it was entertaining it was fun I'm like oh he's gone he's gone ain't you Oh fun pun yeah that's when I saw videos I'm like oh he's gone forget her alright yeah he's he's he's met that goes back to the humor thing you were saying yeah but he was obese there the first thing I ever met you I walked up and I'm such a superfan I woke up 2 K I can't system me you know I didn't like you I'll never you see I didn't like you until it all yeah but I didn't wait for that Intel because you were bored came up you said I didn't understand you in the warrior foot but then and then and then you know Hari Alba capability was like then I went back and I revisited everything and now I understand who you are but did you know what my reaction was cuz I was just like so offended because you like mom even like my favorite rapper so I'm like TJ's Wawa's the man in the juice cool you don't know about that [Laughter] he was like this [ __ ] good exact word just like he's good he's good you know good you remember TJ's mom oh yeah what happened to TJ's wall no no we're not we're not leaving this conversation okay all right [Music] yes sir first of all yeah there's probably something good it's amazing that you remember that but yeah I do understand what I'm saying I lose you you know because it's like this here you gotta say it it's like with me because of the way my ears are trained I'm always listening like lyrically first right and it's like when we're not I'm sitting there I'm like yo this thing got some [ __ ] with it right and then I'm watching the way people respond to it I'm like in and it's like and I'm getting I'm like yo this is dull this is dull because you see you gotta understand it's like the element that you created was something that was so [ __ ] needed espresso education resource wrong no no will understand we have special education especially ahead but we have resource for now understand me what you did was something that was so [ __ ] needed because it's like this here how tough can you be how [ __ ] tough can you be at some point if you dead goddamn tough then you shouldn't be listening to music music is relaxing music is fun directed and you made it with the most dogged out tough [ __ ] could enjoy yourself that's the reason why when I did my history right one of my favorite artists was Biz Markie not lyrics wise not music content but as far as having fun like biz said what he said I'll he'll help stick her nose up his nose cuz thickness is feeding up his nose and put it on the basketball and pass the can yes like you wrote that you know I know we're gonna deal with that so when I'm right from him I make sure I'm missing my ass the crazy [ __ ] was I have dwindling did my research and I was like I said you know what nobody has fun like Bismarck anymore like in this business in his in his day and time and nobody don't have fun like I'm probably the only emcee that embeds would Bismarck represented like he just have fun today by and laughed at him and they tried to make fun of him but I don't give a [ __ ] who laugh at me and try to make fun of me I represent hip hop and I but you you you you you you [ __ ] you you really bridge the gap and you did something special you're having fun you're gangster it's okay have you ever looked at rap and you you was disappointed at one point like like I mean maybe it's the error right now always because at the end of the day came we can't take away from the fact that you you're you're if not be king you're one of the kings so there's a lot of people who can't have opinions or nowadays hip-hop or middle hip hop on or later hip-hop but your fortunately is one of the people that can have an opinion on any version of hip-hop have you ever looked at hip-hop was just like Dan was ashamed at one point yeah yeah yeah what point was then um right now right now what about it I mean it's like let me just say this I think that there are so many talented artists out there right now Jake old big of a logic logic the Kendricks some Kendrick Lamar Rhapsody lab city-car there's so many tap tom Remy mom well I really know she's not new to know by me and she's still shining yeah primary father the new generation is so many out is this just a lot out of here dear God ah what's this con con John Connor no no Joey badass shotgun yeah yeah but you see here's my thing there's a lot of other artists that's out here that's shine and I mean I wish them continued success I don't wanna hear that all no yadi or no I don't wanna hear it they don't broke and you know they [ __ ] up I want to you know know that they safe and they still make your money right I mean I have a lot to you there was a time you know the late 90s you know thanks to [ __ ] like you good [ __ ] got [ __ ] up for me all right so you fella some hard times Yeah right what you know it came back around and everything is good well you know with that came knowledge you know you don't know we had imagined you put your money in the right things you know I'm saying right yeah so it's like with the young cats today I want to know that they wanna shine that you know even if they career don't last as long as you know as mine or as yours whoever that they can still be you know make money and do something lucrative yeah you know I don't want to hear the stories about them falling broke oh he weird right now he's you know I don't want it I want to see them shut so I wish there was that bridge where we can connect with them you know because I don't want your spotlight I love going into a supermarket and someone big day you came right I'll drop off your music man you said hey good me I love that [ __ ] I want you in the supermarket I enjoy so my life is good I don't want your smile I don't want to make that return to the top I mean I'd love to make it you know another album you know there's something that there would be people who will appreciate you know I mean that would be cool but I don't need to be who I was in 88 I did that and it was fun it's a food I like coming home to my family now you do beautiful day it's a beautiful night so spotlight rain but what I did back then was amazing and I'd love to tell you how I did it give you the blueprint so you can do it and walk that walk I'm not your enemy I'm your friend this is my message to the younger generation regardless what anybody telling you I'm not you and me I'm your friend ice it and chop it up with you I'll tell you what's really good how to be what you need to be how to separate yourself from the [ __ ] and establish yourself as a star all right you know that and you don't have to put me on nothing you have to put me on one single track you don't owe me nothing I don't want nothing from you was that I just love it father goes now he was a J yeah yeah yeah it's not always the same old dirty bastard positive K Shahin and anybody else I'll [ __ ] with block my career real [ __ ] came with Kane stand for gets oh the king is yeah nobody's yeah nobody eat King Hayes yeah nobody [Music] things you did I remember running around 88 mentioning I was born in 77 but I used to want me to do name here I talk here or talk had an 88 89 we had a red Jetta with the white convertible top and the white cream seats in there and [ __ ] the vanilla pine trees you know the [ __ ] the richness the air fresheners and that's all we would do they just run around from 88-89 just run around listen to your music so the fact that I could come here with you tonight and honor you and salute you and tell you face-to-face man a man that you don't man your guy that helped raise probably 95% of people were in this building because they got to like twins nothing oh you see that stairwell look at it as other twin and you help raise this man there's nothing more that we want to do is to continue to support you and when you're going to talk you hit me in here fan up let us talk about it let us blow it up because she's this this there's a lack in our society when I say society I mean hip-hop meaning that when a person gets up age they want to treat them like milk and have an expiration date show you right and now I gotta be the opposite of that I gotta use my power like Eminem use his power recently to refute racists and he used his white privilege to fight racism yeah I gotta use my quote-unquote privilege this to still be relevant to show people why I'm relevant because there's people before me and there's people who paved the way that I respect and then I'm there will always be about me to me I don't give a [ __ ] what I do I could never be Big Daddy can don't give a [ __ ] what I do I could never be Slick Rick I'll go for good a dog could never be rock ever I can never be EPMD you guys would help pave the way for me so as long as I got this platform you [ __ ] will always be above me in that situation because we love you and we will continue to [ __ ] represent our legends right here [ __ ] this is what we me and this [ __ ] right here set out to do you see his bid it's very destructive was to do we try to get just four beds I'm just gonna be quiet and that's you know I was just in DC last week for Donnie Simpson 40th anniversary they told me that I need to get give me some Jessamyn is just lick died stick to the fried six to the salami yummy listen you know it's like that keep your mind I mean who had a sharper hairline and beard than general of Earth okay had that be you okay now I think general Evert was this the Joe wasn't at all joke you know Joe was young when he passed a joke was no I think I was just a bob huh nothing Beijing they've existed for my lover yeah they didn't exist in I feel like I feel like can't got a Bobby Brown story before you got a by brown story Bobby Brown I mean I got a whole bunch of Bobby but we here for this game know give us use the best one give us that was I mean most mature Bobby Brown Wendell is started with mature or windy a Wendy Williams party cool and we will perform him this was the year that trey songz it just came out and me and Bobby was performing for Wendy Williams party and you know prior to probably over in the VIP just kickin it and like I had like a great mink and I had it you know sitting up on this thing behind me and some dude came and sat up on the thing on my men but he just did just chillin but I didn't see him you know I'm you know doing what I do I'd never see him Bobby saw him and Bobby just snaps so I come over there like you're like the old [ __ ] up when you do and dude it's like you know what god pologize I'm like no no no no worries no worries only thought and I moved it push it a little further back up in the corner a lot not like that and Bobby just like yo the [ __ ] happened to you men you cool with that you just gonna that [ __ ] I don't feel like fighting in the club of all men cold yeah you don't wanna I don't know if you know Bobby a Bobby wild boy they're wild boy Wow boy he wouldn't they give home be two beats it's called marco bott video this has gone it's like that's why like always cuz it's like we've always had so many good times and I am audible normally wild ass ridiculous time by me this is just one of them who was like I ain't fighting this [ __ ] girl yeah let's be cool yeah we get about a okay what's the one thing you miss about hip hop did you wish hip hop still just had the one thing I miss about hip hop is variety I really missed that I really miss you know you know just people just vibing out on so many different things for so many different reasons yeah cuz I mean you had you know your audience that was fascinated by drugs and players [ __ ] that went to rock the truck jury you had yeah audience that was fascinated by conscious stuff that wanted to rob another medallions you know I can't take off and things that I made sure you know I mean it's like you know you you you know you had you know generation that you know that with the East Coast where I mean you know it was like you know how we we we looked at eazy-e and them dudes as weird-looking dude argue wrong we did we didn't really understand that yeah but you know then when I went to LA and I'm at a gas station in a [ __ ] park and a red Feli suit and I get a post by a bunch of Crips they don't you know blow my goddamn head off because I had a flattop but they didn't recognize me as Big Daddy Kane one of the dudes said yo he he must be won the New York no you know East Coast dancing [ __ ] that's what said he was one of his close dancing [ __ ] cuz I mean they had me it was nothing I could do right I mean it was about 10-12 of them they just swarmed on me out of the gas station I'm pumping gas I'm out there and like I'm like in like maybe like a rental beds ball pumping gas and I Freddie feel I sweat suit in [ __ ] territory and you know they had me it wasn't nothing I could do you use that reach the ball Hills I don't know I mean we have our work yeah it was like a hackneyed you know if me I was there for the taking I mean Fred feel I sweat suit red feel eyes and yeah but and they pulled away they saw the flattop and was just like and then I get some earlier my slang you know maybe I make you know what go ahead on me he probably one of East Coast dancing [ __ ] you know but I mean it's like that's that's what that's what made it dope because you know it's like you know eazy-e came T you know ice-t shout-out to King yeah they all had you know this story in hip-hop you know that was different than ours man I mean it was like that variety that variety ain't there no more man everybody is saying you turn already on it sounds I got 24-hour song like what is the best air of hip-hop in your opinion no okay like well he asked me earlier I chose that late 80s as my favorite ever favorite but you know you think I don't know because you see that's the I respect it's like I got a lot of respect for the mid 90s as well because puffy did something amazing in the mid 90s because in the early 90s hip-hop started to do this it started transforming this old gangster thing when a West Coast are doing the gangster the East Coast started following into and everything just became so gangster right and it was like you know you go to a party like I hated like I started flying in Chicago going to step and says oh sure have a good time because I couldn't enjoy myself cuz the most dangerous place on the planet know what I mean I was too much probably even then but while 1990s I'll go to you go to a step is set just they have a good time cuz I go to a party in New York and it's like you know you ladies in the crowd just hey nobody want to dance i buy school phase and Bobby it I'm gonna you come here for that chicks and chicks just like tools you know nobody wanna put no sexy [ __ ] on [ __ ] your ass we know bad it's like I didn't get it I didn't get it but did hit is to puff he take like biggie and the locks and he like okay I tell you what good talk to you gangster [ __ ] but do it over this just copy for me so now all the people who love go to thug stuff you get to hear it people another party got something to dance to right so he figured out a way to make the two mesh where you can be as gangster as you want but the people who won half of the time of the body can still party I never thought of it like that though ain't alright so I got a lot of respect for puff did for hip hop in the mid 90s as well because he created some [ __ ] way it's like you got a gangster rappers spitting a gangster [ __ ] all the disco and club party beats all right so it's like you know even though I may not be in a move to stick a [ __ ] up or sell a bunch of keys or this stuff this beats rocking like you know [Music] so I made that error I thought was great too I can't thank you enough for coming out hanging out with three champs we're trying to take you to would time let's go come on that would be amazing if their big daddy can't go to one tavern with the drink champs yeah well never have so fuels so much to so many but uh yeah mare respect young man I'm gonna show everybody in this [ __ ] make some noise for Big Daddy [Applause] [Applause]
