Will TRT show up on the drug test? This is the TRT and Hormone Optimization YouTube channel. And if you want to learn all about the science-based information on this topic, consider subscribing, hit that notification bell, and you'll be on your way. The short answer is no. Can it show up on labs?
Absolutely. For starters, that's not a bad thing unless you're competing in some sanctioned sport that flat-out bans in their rules the use of any exogenous hormones. Drug test is not a scientific term.
Drug test is a social term. And I take that social term to mean an employment test for illicit or illegal drugs, amphetamines, narcotics, etc. These types of tests generally test for your typical amphetamines, your cocaines, your marijuana, heroines.
They're looking for things that you're doing illegally. They're not necessarily looking for hormones. they're not going to test your hormones.
And even if they did, they're probably going to test total T, which again, I've never in my life seen this done with the exception of maybe law enforcement. And this is again, very rare. This is only in a case where someone already has some pending investigation and someone kind of blows a whistle on them and says, this guy's on steroids. Again, they're going to test for total testosterone.
So if you're on TRT and you come back at 800 or a thousand, I mean, that's not an issue. I mean, I can tell, and I'm sure you can tell if someone is on T. if you really want to check it, you can check their gonadotropin levels, you could check some other things. And some of the sanctioning organizations like USADA and WADA, which is the World Anti-Doping Organization, when they test for sports, what they do is they check testosterone to epigastrofosterone ratios, and there's a natural range. And then if you're above that range, then they're going to assume that the metabolites you're producing are a result of an exogenous hormone.
These tests are not cheap. They're not common. They're not something that most are going to really know and understand.
So in short, if you're going for a job or if you're looking to do a quote unquote drug test, for starters, the lab order is going to have a panel code and that code is going to very easily be interpreted. We're going to put Google search, but what that lab is actually testing for. So if you have concerns before you go and submit to this test, go ahead and check the code and you're going to know very quickly what it is that you're being tested for. I would be very shocked to see a typical drug test for employment verification or integrity purposes being done for hormones. You're more than likely going to get popped for weed than you will for a steroid.
