04-02 Sustainable Strategic Plan for Leadership

[Music] when I bring up working on a sustainable strategic plan to claim your next leadership seat you may be thinking Jimny this sounds ideal but does this really work does putting a plan in place to pursue the next leadership seat really work out and pan out the way you're describing it and all I can say to you is if you're having doubts as to whether or not an action plan will work for you bring this question to our strategy and Q&A session and the reason why this is important for you to tackle is that when we are questioning whether something works we are underneath all of that questioning whether we are going to work and I say this with love and compassion the answer is yes this works when you believe that it works and the reason why it works is because when you believe in yourself you tap into your innate potential and when you do you take action and those actions give you a result which sometimes is what you want it and sometimes it isn't if it's not what you want it you tweak if you was what you wanted you then reinforce your own belief you see it's working and you tap into more of your potential and this is what happens in what I call a positive momentum Loop which we discuss in more detail in The Fearless Mastermind what happens when the opposite is true is that when you don't really believe that this is feasible or possible for you specifically is that you tap very little into your innate potential as a result you take very lackluster actions and those actions lead to not so great results because you're barely putting in the effort and as a result you reinforce your belief you see I'm doing this but it's not really yielding anything so I'm just wasting my time and that reinforces the belief that you see it's not working and then you tap into even less of your inade potential and take even less action that give you even less Illuminating results and so you create a negative momentum Loop so to work on a sustainable strategic plan requires that you have a strong belief in yourself and a strong belief that what you are are working on is actually working and that it will yield fruit for you one of the quotes that my mentor Fabian Shar with me that has really touched me is the quote where she said the day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit be patient and stay the course and that's the mindset that I'm inviting you to take on as we work on your strategic plan of action we already started to reverse engineer your vision which will create the actions the goals and the timelines and resources and the why what those goals are important and so when we talk about augmenting our action plan we want to include what we're going to cover next which is actually leveraging the resources available by developing relationships with the sponsors who will be able to support you in your career growth and your career development what we're doing right now is we're going to take the actions and goals that you had from the reverse engineered exercise and we're going to augment it with the actions around your building and cultivating sponsor relationships that's what this piece of this week's training is going to do so watch the next video when we talk about leveraging the resources available and let's add to your action plan any actions related to continuing to cultivate those relationships and the actions associated with doing so and if you're ready let's keep going when you are this intense about your actions what happens is one you're not going to feel frustrated you're not going to feel stuck because as humans if we are making progress is the only way that we're happy if you are not doing anything that you find is constructive to support you in claiming your next leadership seat then you feel overlooked undervalue you feel stuck and we're not saying that you are in the right environment right now part of our discussions when we meet please bring this into the Q&A and strategy sessions is that you may realize that the ground that you're currently planting your seeds may not be fertile ground so that's a fair question from your perspective if you find that the environment that you're in does not support your growth we need to discuss that because if it isn't there is only enough that you can do to advance if the ground is not fertile or fertilized you're not going to yield the fruit that you're aiming for and that's completely legit so I want to give you Kudos if you already have a high self-awareness around whether or not where you are the environment that you're in whether that's a fertile environment or maybe it's not maybe it's arid maybe it's it needs it needs a lot of work and perhaps that work is out of your hands it's possible or perhaps when you take more self- leadership you can show up differently and you can ask for what you need from the people who are willing to hear you support you and Champion you and that will be a game Cher for you every woman who's watching this training is different every situation is different so I want to make sure that as your coach we tackle your needs and challenges specifically so we can give you the right direction to move in so you don't waste your time so you're not spinning plates and feeling like you're stretch thin and that's the reason why creating this strategic plan is so meaningful and the intention that you put into creating it is going to pay in dividends because you won't be wasting your time and whatever limited time you have you're going to apply the right way this my friends I can tell you from my own experience has worked every single time these are consistent results that you're going to receive when you take action and if there's anything getting in the way of you taking action consistently we need to coach around that because guess what whatever that is it's a boulder on your journey on your path and we can go around the boulder we can climb the boulder we can come up with ways to overcome whatever that limitation is because if we don't remove that Boulder out of your success path and your success Journey you're going to one day wake up and say I wish I could have would have and we don't want you to wish could have would have done we want you to do and to be at your best and feel at your best given the resources you currently have which is why so interested in continuing to add tools to your toolkit so that you can continue to blast through those Boulders that are inevitably going to come in your way especially as you continue to ascend to the next leadership role all right so let's talk about leveraging the resources available and let's talk about building those sponsorship relationships and some mentorship relationships that will support your growth [Music]
