today is that that people do really want to to make a positive impact on the world operating in an increasingly digitized environment what are the main challenges you facing the age of kind of um consumer access to information is obviously kind of changed a lot over the years and increasing the access to information that we have is just something that is driving consumer change and consumer habits um consumers are demanding more visibility and transparency over Brands and whether that's food brands or media it's really affecting us all and this also you know is something that that impacts us as a content creator too we're also help that higher standard and we need to create content that is the voice of the consumer which is exactly what we do why did you choose as to support you on that Journey you know our mission is to make plant-based living the new norm and that is obviously a very big transformation like a digital transformation you need to create a total it infrastructure which has the ability to go through all the different stages from startup to scaleup to a global multi-billion business and so for sure that is where sap came in and to be able to set created this Global spine new businesses can actually plug and play on the back end and be part of the global part let's start our conversation about why the digital transformation has become so imperative for our customers in response to this crisis how do you see this progressing in 2021 and Beyond and what does it mean for our join customers actually it goes back even before the pmic your pressing questions Christian great presentation great to have you thank you cassia and to kick it off if you were to sum up the beauty of rise with sap in just a couple couple of sentences what would you say I mean look um first of all I have to say I'm very proud of the team uh for putting such a gamechanging offering together for our customers when I think back just you know almost 12 months ago and we didn't jump immediately to the Whiteboard and said hey this is our new offer what we did is actually we did we put a lot of efforts uh into you know understanding with empathy the needs of our customers we talk to Partners we talk to analysts to really understand what are their needs with regard to the business transformation and in general you won't find so many Business Leaders out there who are questioning the need to transform the Enterprise that's absolutely clear I mean covid has just shown that enterprises with with digital business models with digital business processes are just more resilient and therefore more competitive but what customers are really struggling with is how to apply the technology in the context of the business process how to drive the change of the mindset you know and I was also the COO of sap before and I know exactly you know what our customers are talking about and so here we go wise with sap and for me it very important you know the first element on top of the apps it's about you know what sap does for life I mean we are doing this since almost over 50 years we are running the world's most Mission critical business processes so what is different now now it's different that we take the content the expertise the data of our customers and allow them to discover analyze Benchmark and redesign their business processes and welcome also to our new colleagues of signavio Welcome to the sap family because now we can offer that wide away we are the dominant player in the business process intelligence space now we can help our customers to make sure that they are not only buying Innovative technology but also Reen wending how the Enterprise wants and then when you look under the hood the things are coming better coming together now better and better there's the platform I talked a lot just in the keynote about the one domain model and that's so important not only for integration purposes as I said but also for our partners to extend our apps for our also for our customers to run the business with one source of Truth and and then finally there's as for Hana cloud and you have seen we have seens and live kindly and I really asked the team to take these two customers because they are so different but both are going us with us now on that journey in the meantime you know we also had problems to hold back the pilots we are running we have in the meantime over 130 customers who are already on the journey with wise with sa and that just shows that we put a lot of efforts in in creating something which is really addressing the needs of our customers now you you just mentioned partners and also in your keynote you mentioned um that the ecosystem is um plays a very important role so can you maybe elaborate a bit more on that I mean to our ecosystem and let me very be very clear with that I mean we are ser over 400,000 customers every day across the globe and there's no way that SCP only can develop everything by our own we can also not sell or service everything by our own so we need a strong ecosystem and with RSE with sap actually personally this is the most partner friendly offer we ever have launched from the sap because now when you go across the stack you have on the infrastructure we are giving customers Choice yeah we are wanting the workloads the applications either on our own data centers or in one of the hyperscale data centers always as I also mentioned in the keyote with the best industry standards with regard to system availability cyber security then when you move up the stack on the platform all of our partners are now you know even more welcome yeah to extend our solutions to innovate on our platform yeah to build their partner IP on our platform and we are making great progress on really you know building an end to-end digital Marketplace for them and then to our you know on the sales side to all of our resellers they can sell wise with sap again the entire offering and for them it's also big now they can go after all their existing customers they can go after new customer especially in the mid market and then finally and we will also see this later in the sessions later on our services partners and of course they are actually the defecto standard yeah when it comes to really making the migration the implementations you know happening they also you know we will also augment our offering than with business advisory services so our ecosystem is really you know fully embracing this new offering that was key for me and there was a lot of effort also going in in enabling them to support that because this is really a joint move now in your keynote we um heard also from our customer live kindly and there's a question about that um so um what were the question is what what were the key enablers from saps for Hana that were critical to this success I mean withi kindly first of all they are going through a whole business transformation now they are in the food plant industry and it's a big success now it's about you know not only changing the business model but and also globalizing their business yeah and really also making sure that they have standard processes which scale you know uh in sales in finance but also across the supply chain and we are doing this already with as for Han in the cloud in over 90 countries and this is key for them yeah to really faster grow and scale that business and of course also again learn from sap what are the best practices yeah to do that what are the best practices in order to cash what are the best practices in procure to pay what are the best practices in design to operate and we are giving them that knowledge yeah to really make sure they can grow as fast as they can so we are um launching this offering today and uh let's say a customer is interested in buying it so would be they should buy it tomorrow so what would be the first step they should do yeah I mean look Ian we again that was not you know we didn't have the idea months ago and this was a major effort inside sap you know and again I cannot be more thankful to the team and on all of that again in a complete virtual way so all our sales people our customer success people in Consulting our partners they are all enabled so you can reach out to them you know have you know a conversation again you know about all the elements of rise with sap so we are ready to go okay so pick up the phone and call call your SCP contact absolutely uh question is rice available for small businesses or is it strictly for a large Enterprise no absolutely not I mean we we designed you know an off offering for wise for you know small midsize customers like live kindly I mean look we we we offer you know as fora also in the public Cloud you know with u you know high scaleability with the lowest TCO and we have already you know thousands of customers yeah who are also in the in the small in the midsize you know Enterprise segment and no it's absolutely also designed for our smaller customers but again that's now the magic of the new offering no matter if you're small midsize or large we take you by the hand we also move out the complexity of your system and if it takes longer when you're a very large one okay then go do it step by step and we take the processes first where the customers need you know the you know have the most urgent business need and then for you know smaller ones I mean we have go lives within 25 days which we can immediately put to the standard and they just go so our new offering is um a holistic business transformation as a service this our offering can you give a um practical example of such a holistic business transformation yeah absolutely I mean Everyone likes to talk about the vaccine you know these days and how you know tech companies are helping this uh Enterprises and look uh for the production and the distribution of the vaccine sap is actually you know supporting all of the leading Enterprise and that and what we are doing is not only helping it to become more efficient what we are actually doing now since almost you know eight months is reducing the process time up to the vaccination or also helping to really scale the production and again this is not only about technology this is about you know Reinventing traditional business processes this is about you know a holistic business transformation take another one I had um you know one call and that's actually also a good example for the whole industry you know consumer good lockdowns everywhere in the world and the CEO I talked to he was heavily concerned you know around can I really deliver my laptops the notepads in time for the Christmas for the peak season at Christmas so we have taken the customer put him to the cloud you know access to the business Network to really make sure that he has everything in place to find the right suppliers to to find the right logistic providers to really make you know to also deliver and produce everything on time and this is what we did with one customer and you know there are many more uh examples retail obviously there was a big change in going Commerce you know also redesigning quote to cash so there were a lot of customer examples again where you can see how important it is to connect the end user with the process the technology and the data layer now you already talked about it but maybe just briefly to to clarify how um rise with sap is different from what competitors and Service Partners offer I mean for me it's very important that you see also that rise with SCP is not coming you know with different parts you know and and because everything is connected so we are taking the customer data we are using all the data we are having you know from other customers to really make sure we design the business process intelligence layer on top of the application but again also integrated with the platform Services we have to also Infuse our Ai and RPA models we have and finally of course that the platform comes with one domain model which all of our apps again you know adapt to really make sure that end to endend from the end user to technology everything really comes in a holistic manner now the next one is it's quite quite nice so walk me through your ideally digit digitally transformed business um look as I mentioned I was uh the the CEO of sap before and you know I just want to give our customers and partners a practical example I mean some years back we really thought you know there is the need to also offer our platform in a pay as you go in a consumption based business model and then just how did it work so first of all we had to realize look this is a new license model we have to learn how such business processes have to run that's part of the cloud transformation of sap so what did we do we actually took best practices from the Telco industry we learned from the best and to really make sure we offer that at high scale and actually then finally also connect with our leading Asana Cloud solution yeah because the technology is all there we can even you know meter and Bild you know all the consumers all the customers you know in in a minute or in a second but again it was very important to design this new business model and this is actually you know what we did and again that just shows you know how important it is to have the different layers together in one so what is the biggest challenge your customers face in moving to the cloud the the biggest challenge actually so far is really about again you know when you look at the business today some of our customers have a lot of complexity and complexity complexity you cannot overcome you know with PowerPoint or putting data into you know some you know external tools what you need and also to convince the business to standardize and simplify is again you need facts you need to prove that you can running this business process at the end 20% faster or you can you know U convince a CFO like Luca that you can improve cash collection you know a lot by just you know um put more intelligence into the order to cash process and again with the new offering we have facts we have data we can model we can simulate and then the Business Leaders can see hey it's really worth to standardize it's worse to reinvent this business process forget what we did you know for 20 years for now you know very successfully this is the way how we need to move forward and that's very different and I guess this is also the biggest challenge you know some of our customers they all buying new technology they all want to apply AI but the question is you need to connect the technology with the business and this is what we are doing with the new offer so um there's a question um that um this customer they are already running their business on one of the high scalers but what's the benefit um of rise with sap for them yeah I mean warning your system on a on a on a hypers scale is good I hope you reduced your TCO the resiliency of the system now it's about reimagining your business now it's about you know tailoring and designing business processes who give you higher automation for example in finance how can we put more intelligence into procure to pay how can can we you know also offer new license model maybe you want to switch from selling products and selling into Services how can we create intelligent bundles and this is what sap does and we do this now in one offer and the good thing is running on a hypers scale absolutely no issue you all invited and but we going to package that up and let's also not forget I mentioned that in the keynote as well when something goes wrong it's good to have one accountable party because you are running your really Mission critical workloads you know of one of these cloud infrastructures and at the end someone needs to figure out when an issue is coming up let's not hope so but if then you know who is going to fix it who is really controlling end to end the landscape and that's of course also something what you should never forget when you really talk about RSE with sap so um so this offering we're saying that it's a fixed offering and um but our customers would like to have flexibility in their SCP architecture in and design so maybe you can explain how this fits together yeah I mean the team I didn't tell the team but you know uh you know with today we actually launching and I'm 100% convinced a gamechanging offering but you know in the future of course you can also think about you know like playing Lego with my son at home you know now you have a very good offering yeah with as for Hana cloud in the core of the Enterprise but of course we have other good Solutions yeah so you can just you know extend you know the new offering you know by going HR Human Experience management with sap of course there is uh CX out there we also have good industry Solutions so we going to probably also announce later this year also certain industry versions of the offering but already now you can just you know expand your new offering you can put you know other industry related applications you know built on our platform and then just you know also one your industry vertical uh processes with the new offering and the offering has a high flexibility as our customers will found out so if a customer says yes I want this offering um when is there or is there a right time when to start such a digital transformation I mean I would say start tomorrow I mean I when I look you know across our customer bench I mean in every industry there's so much change uh just to give another example now in the in the crisis where we we also um announce the automotive Alliance uh in Q4 what do we do there markets are very volatile these days yeah so demand is changing up down depending on the lockdowns and now what we are doing is with the business network is really digitizing the whole supply chain yeah of the car manufacturers yeah we are going to invite everyone the suppliers and the OEM s to join you know one Automotive Network and with that we can really also manage demand and Supply with complete transparency in real time so when there is a lockdown and the demand is going down the the the manufacturer in Italy for example yeah for the prags you know he knows immediately and we avoid any kind of over capacity and that goes cross a whole the supply chain or we can also then use the data of the car and immediately inform you know one of the suppliers about potential quality issues so there are multiple benefits and this is the change what is going on and with rise with SCP we are really taking our customers by the hand and really enable them to really again completely transform their business and how can such a digital transformation be triggered bottom up look I mean again my own experience tells me uh when I became the CEO of sa I was absolutely clear I will change nothing in this company if I don't really also have some accountability for the business processes yeah and again it's very important to bring you know all of the employees in a company behind the change but it's also very important to lead from the top and that the executive board is very clear about that that the CFO is sitting next to you and is really willing yeah to apply new technologies to standardize business processes to really automate completely you know all the transactional processes in finance or when you move over to sales yeah that you also going to change you know certain processes there you know offer new subscription bundles for example and this is for me very key so it needs to you know there must be the mindset from the top and of course you also have to bring the people behind you and again you can only do that if you can also show the business what is the outcome and this is why it's so important now also with the of signavio that we have this business process intelligence layer and great that you mentioned signavio because one of the questions is which role will signavio play Within rise with sap I mean we we looked at this great solution in detail and obviously we you know we did a deep dive analysis and what we found out that with our own BPI capabilities signavio is actually you know for us the perfect asset to really you know offer business process intelligence end to end yeah from the design the analysis of an process then really you know to the very end yeah the integration to our platform services like the workflow AI RPA so that we really can offer the customer an endtoend business process automation layer and by the way that's not a one-time effort that's not you know something what you do when you are migrating to as for Hana this is something what you do on a continuous basis because there will be always new business demands coming in and you should never stop you know Reinventing Your Own Business processes to stay ahead of the competition is it true that we stop all on premise Solutions and become 100% Cloud that's not true I mean at the end you know SCP always gave choice to our customers but we also just have to acknowledge where the market is going to but obviously as I said the platform has so many apis also to to to offer equation yeah for hybrid Landscapes yeah for customers you know still you know also wanting uh as for Han on Prem and there's absolutely no issue you know by doing that but some of the business transformation we are seeing in many Industries you know there is a benefit to move to the cloud and so with the new offering again we want to smoothen this migration and again also want to make sure that it's not about only about the technology the technology is great but we also want to make sure that we cover all the elements of the business transformation so it looks like our customers and our audience um can't wait to get on this journey uh one of the questions is when will rise with sap be generally available it's available actually starting tomorrow I mean we worked as I said very very hard and the team you know will confirm that yeah so since almost 12 months now uh we worked to really make this offering you know a holistic offering in where customers will also feel that the different parts are connected to each other so these are you know it's it's not only commercially that we offer that as one contract customers will also feel that we are guiding them through the Journey yeah and that's very important and again the things are coming together now at sap much much better yeah so we are made great strikes forward on the integration side we made great strides also on harmonizing our domain model which is very key we could not launch this is offering yeah if our platform would be not now F and center but it is this is why we are ready we are ready to go and actually we can you know start to you know um ask our customers to join you know the new offering tomorrow so talking about integration will Ms teams also be embedded into other applications or only es foran it will be embedded in es foran actually the first scenarios will be already available in in Q2 yeah so actually as I also you know said in the interview with SAA actually we we talked also you know nine months ago and we said look he SAA actually told me Christian there is some make just so logical sense yeah when you take the leading business collaboration platform with Microsoft teams and then the leading business applications of SCP and just you know bring them together and embed really collaboration in the user experience of all of our business users and we just did an analysis actually 80% of the business Community is using Microsoft teams and sap so you can imagine the productivity gains and there will be scenarios now coming for sales we have scenarios coming for HR procurement and for many other functions so actually we will also then uh roll out the road map for Microsoft teams also in the in the upcoming week and so that customers also see what is coming when and what they can expect uh of you know around the collaboration talking about collaboration in Microsoft um sap was always very vocal about your openness with regards to hyperscalers but now you um mentioned um that Microsoft is uh our partner so is there like what's the reasoning behind I mean we are now partnering with Microsoft uh on the collaboration space and for me it's always important that you partner with the best and you know Microsoft teams is addressing the business community so it makes complete sense now for our business applications to also embed you know this solution now on the hyperscaler on the cloud infrastructure side as you also have seen in my keynote we are providing choice we are open yeah and this is you know at the end also the customer's decision yeah on which Cloud infrastructure they want to one and let's also not forget we also offer sep end to endend with au access if customers want to so is is rise with sep only Li limited to certain industries absolutely not I mean uh it's available you know across every industry I mean with Asana in the cloud we are actually warning today customers from all over uh 25 Industries so there is no limitation yeah what we are now going to build as part of the industry Cloud we are building verticals yeah for some of the industries and the good piece is customers can you know buy wise with sap can adopt s foran and then just naturally expand you know the the industry vertical processes with our applications we are going to develop and again it's all sitting on the platform using the same services using the same domain model actually as for Hana in the cloud so will rise replace heck R will yeah so at the end you know rise is really something completely different yeah because in heck we never actually offered this business process intelligence layer we didn't have the platform in there so it's really now a comprehensive offering yeah and this is very key yeah so it has actually nothing to do with hack it's really a complete business transformation as a service offering are you running out of questions I'm just laughing about the question but I will ask it aren't you a bit late to the party oh no why why we now you know why I'm laughing no we are for sure not too late I mean look and you know when we when we talk about as for Hana yeah and when we talk about the Erp space I mean we see now a tremendous grow in the cloud and let's not forget we have customers also like you know seens yeah there is a lot of business process complexity in there and I guess this is now very important with the new offering we are going to accelerate the transformation of an Enterprise also in the core processes and uh so we are absolutely not too late glad to hear that we have
