Overview

Starting with MDVP

  1. Recording a Vocal Sample:
    • Ensure the vocalization (sustained vowel) fills the entirety of the window.
    • Record using either:
      • The 'Record' button on the toolbar.
      • The F12 key.
  2. Playback:
    • Use the 'Play' button in the toolbar to review the recording.

Performing MDVP Analysis

  1. Initiating Analysis:
    • This can be achieved via:
      • The toolbar.
      • The 'Protocols' menu.
      • Pressing the F7 key.
    • The program plays back the signal and performs the analysis.
  2. Viewing Results:
    • Results are displayed in 'Window G' showing:
      • Relative Average Perturbation (Jitter)
      • Shimmer
      • Noise-to-Harmonic Ratio
      • Voice Turbulence Index
    • Normal values are indicated within a green circle on the display.

Configuring MDVP

  1. Report Setup:
    • Right-click to access 'MD VP Report Setup' for changing:
      • Graphical display types.
      • Parameters displayed in the analysis.
  2. Report Parameters Menu:
    • Access this to view and adjust report parameters.
    • Essential to change the gender setting for accurate normative data.
  3. Saving and Printing:
    • Results can be saved or printed for further use.

Additional Analysis Example

  • Abnormal Voice Analysis:
    • Use the 'Macros' menu to run a 'Hoarse Voice Macro'.
    • This analysis will likely show values outside the normal range, demonstrating the tool’s capability to analyze varied voice conditions.

  • Ensure the gender for the user is accurately selected for appropriate normative results.
