good morning afternoon evening night whenever you're watching this welcome back to the Mr sin chain today we are going to be reviewing cities and globalization as always if you find Value in these topic review videos consider subscribing today people cities and countries do not live in isolation the world is more connected than ever before this new globalized world interacts on a daily basis to grow the food we eat produce the products we use and come up with new ideas that change the world globalization has also led to the creation of a new Urban hierarchy that can be seen around the world on the top of our Urban hierarchy we have world cities also known as Global City these cities are connected to other cities around the world these cities do not just impact the people that live in them or in the region in which they are located but impact people across a country and the entire world as we go through this video and I describe world cities see if you can think of an example of one world cities traditionally are connected to Global Market you will often find multinational corporations and stock exchanges in them you may also find these cities to be linked to other cities by a variety of different Global networks such as communication networks Transportation hubs manufacturing centers banking or centers of trade these cities tend to allow for information goods and services Trends food and culture to diffuse globally by hierarchical diffusion oftentimes we can see an idea Trend or good diffuse from one world city to another spreading to different individuals in the city eventually the trade starts to diffuse down to the smaller settlements around the world city and to other larger cities in a country that are connected to the world city through airports ports or Interstate systems over time the trait will diffuse around the country starting most often at the larger urban areas and moving down to the smaller settlements around them all of which is an example of hierarchical diffusion a concept we last talked about in unit three today we can see that fashion trends are a great example of a trend that follows this diffusion pattern often starting at a world city before making its way around the world world cities also tend to have a more diverse population it's common to find different cultures and people from all over the world in these cities lastly we can see these cities often influence each other's design operation and these cities collaborate with one another to try and solve larger scale problems so what do you think do you know an example of a world city today cities such as New York London Paris and Tokyo would all be examples of a world city as the world continues to become connected through Global networks and linkages world cities will continue to influence and impact the diffusion of different modern Trends goods and ideas so that is world cities and just a glimpse at how our globalized world is connected through them now comes the time to practice what we have learned remember when you're done answering the questions on the screen check your answers in the comment section down below and if you found value in the video consider subscribing and check out my ultimate review packet as always I'm Mr sin and I will see you next time online
